[Mikachu Yukitatsu]

I wanted to make a nostalgic topic. In this topic I post five old Kanto episodes at a time every Wednesday and it's your task to comment on them. Quite in the same way as in this poll. First, I choose five eppies from episodes 1-20, then five eppies from 21-40, then 41-60 and finally 61-83.

Here are the first ones.

My answers:

1. Pokemon! I Choose You!

The first episode is a classic. The writers clearly didn't want to inctroduce everything in the first ep, otherwise they would have made Ash to catch his first caught Pokemon, Team Rocket would have entered already and so on. I kinda like the arrangement, good ideas expanding the world of the games, like Pikachu who refuses to go into a Pokeball. I also fell in love with the camera angles or what are they called.

9. The School of Hard Knocks

I chose this episode because its idea differs from all the other early episodes. Again, it gave a funny viewpoint to the games when Joe ranted with the computer. And Giselle was pretty.

12. Here Comes The Squirtle Squad

I felt sad about this because I didn't manage to get it on tape when they showed repeats here in Finland. I finally found it from a shop for only 1 or 2 euros or something. It's a great episode, Squirtles are funny, Team Rocket uses weapons, explosions, boom!

15. Battle Aboard the St. Anne

James was COOL as a schoolgirl. The battle itself was an amazing combination of animation and music, there I noticed how great Pokemon music is eat least compared to other cartoons I had seen back there.

17. The Island Of Giant Pokemon

The subtitles were a great idea. This episode I missed when I was taping them. I finally caught it on Swedish TV4, but they had a narrator who spoke in Swedish what the Pokemon said and I was disappointed.

EDIT: Yeah, I didn't include a gym battle ep, I felt like I had more to say about these ones.

I'm sorry if I didn't express myself clearly, but I'd like to see your opinions on these episodes, I assume a misinterpretation. But you can still take also the episodes in my first post and comment on them as well. Here are the ones for this week anyway.

21. Bye Bye Butterfree

The first episode I recorded. Watched it almost every day the following week. I liked to watch it mostly because I was having a big crush in a girl who rejected me just like Ash's Butterfree was rejected.

22. Abra And The Psychic Pokemon

The first gym battle ep I take here. Ash's cliff-falling Bulbasaur trick was sweet. And the horror movie effects scary. What about Ash thinking Pikachu danced when Abra controlloed it.

26. Pokemon Scent-Sation

Another good gym battle. Included all sorts of cuteness like Erika in kimono and the Omanyte story.

32. The Ninja-Poke Showdown

I always take these Japanese clothing eppies. Boring, isn't it? But this one has a good rapidity of events. And Psyduck shows its powers.

39. Pikachu's Goodbye

A sad one. The Finnish dub song 'Nyt aika on' i.e. 'Now it's the time' almost spoiled this great episode as it was horrible and it sounded like as if the singer said 'Nyt aikaa on' i.e. 'Now there is time'. I know, nitpicking.

46. Attack Of The Prehistoric Pokemon

This episode makes you love Aerodactyl. And Ash's Charmeleon evolving to Charizard, I always get emotional when I see a Pokemon evolving.

48. Holy Matrimony!

One of the funniest episodes ever. Growlithe's little mansion, James's parents and past, Jessibelle's "No running like that!", and so on. If you have seen this episode you know what I'm talking about. Our channel had some problems when they showed this episode the second time though.

50. Who Gets To Keep Togepi?

An episode which divides opinions. Is Misty really worthy to get Togepi? One could say that yes because Ash and Meowth argued too much but I when I came up with this opinion I was blinded by my crush on Misty. On the other hand, some say Misty shouldn't have got Togepi for her own good because that ceature started drawing her energy.

52. Princess VS Princess

Used to be my absolute favourite eppie. I loved Misty. Misty VS Jessie is still cool, but this formula has been used too much now, a hero beats all the villain's Pokemon except for one, which in turn beats all the hero's Pokemon except for one. And you know how the battle ends. James's Finnish voice actor changed to worse!

56. The Ultimate Test

An interesting one. You don't see academical life in every episode, only in ones like this and 'The School Of Har Knocks' which had kawaii Giselle. Team Rocket uses Ash's Pokemon and Ash Team Rocket's Pokemon. An ingenious idea was that Pokemon Team Rocket stoled obeyed the teacher becasue he was their trainer.
