Show-Off

The Mitchelson family is one of the wealthiest families in the Johto reigion, yet the biggest at war with itself. Within their life of luxury, Meredith Mitchelson, a retired coordinator, focuses her attention on eldest child Mia, and her own aspirations of winning the Grand Festival. Businessman Michael rarely spends time at home, travelling the world on expensive trips and oblivious to the attention his son, Milo, craves from a father figure. As such, he is a womanising rich-kid with a disrespect for authority, regularly disobeying the law.

With Milo disheartened after coming in second place in the Johto League, he decides it is a time for change. Challenging the contest circuit, Milo finally wins approval from his mother, and he begins the journey with more help than his sister ever got.

But with his motives for the change in style completely self-absorbed and vain, can Milo truly accomplish what he desires? How does one carry on down the difficult path when such little faith lies in his decisions?

Armed with a loyal stylist, a credit card and his Medicham, Milo begins to learn the ways of the coordinating circuit - one which is as cruel and ruthless as the intense battles from his past.




Show-Off will begin in the first week of January in 2009.

Lol, so many M's!

Looks promising, despite contests being such a huge part of pokemon these days, no true story has been set primarily in this area. Since he has a wealth (no pun intended) of experience under his belt, Milo should made for an interesting main character.

I'll be interested in seeing how you organise the Contests themselves, what is entailed in each round, and what kind of extras you include. I'd imagine his Medicham and other pokemon will be in the limelight as well, with focus on their characters too?

I look forward to Chapter 1.

The M thing was sort of like my fondness for comicbook characters like Peter Parker and the Green Goblin. I think alliteration in names makes them very memorable and warming. So I named the family all with M's! Milo's strength lies in battles, and Gyms, so this sudden appreciation for beauty and precision means (a) he's in a different environment and (b) he isn't as enthusiastic towards it. I've written a few chapters already but won't put it up just yet - I need to keep writing to see what direction the fic is going in first, but one thing I'm excited about is Milo's character. He is such a different character than anything else I've previously done. He's a bit of a bastard really, which is fun.

The contests stick closely to the Anime format, but some are more specialised. Violet City is an aerial-contest for flying types only, featuring exclusive air-based challanges.

Medicham is the only member of Milo's Johto League team who he takes to tackle contests, catching new ones on the way. He catches a very controversial Pokemon in Chapter 4.

Anyway shortly I will put it up, once I gather more of a scope for how it's going to go. I've many dark, action-packed ideas, but I wonder whether it will be suitable in this mainly comedic, light-hearted fic. I might have to save them!

Sounds really interesting, and I already have a good feel as to Milo's character already. I'm sensing he's going to be cocky, arrogant and really just a love-to-hate character.

Even Medicham seems to be forming an image in my head - a tough, well-battled pokemon who's gonna be less than impressed at her (?) new method of battle. I'd imagine Milo would get a swift Hi Jump Kick to the face should he try to stick a Tiara onto her!

The familiar region of Johto is great too, as I think it will give more of a focus on the Contests. I'm assuming Jasmine will be making an appearance, as well as Whitney too.

Again, I await with anticipation!
