Pinsir and Heracross

Did anyone ever notice the uncanny resemblence between Heracross and Pinsir? I mean, they are right next to each other in the G/S/C Pokedex, they both learn fighting moves, both are beetles and both have AWESOME attack power? I think Nintendo should have made pinsir evolve into Heracross or vice versa.

Sure, why not. Except that they aren't exactly physically similar. And Heracross is a billion times better...

i think they should improve pinsir - give him some better moves or an evolution in the next game- he's one of the most underused pokes ever and is from old skool- he deserves some respect. Maybe make his evo a bug/dark or something with shadowball and/or megahorn.

this should probably be in general discussion. unless you plan on comparing their abilities in rs. anyway heracross is much cooler, although he is kind of a ripoff of pinsir.

Pinsir is cool, but I think both Heracross and Scyther beat him in the end...In my opinion, FEAROW is the Pokemon that needs another evolution.

Hearcross does rip off of pinsir beacuse they are both beetles, but isn't heracross a rhinoceros beetle and pinsir a stag beetle?

Yeah, but there are over 750,000 species of beetles, and you don't hear people complaining that Lileep is a ripoff of Staryu, even though those are both Ecinoderms. Or that Carvana is a ripoff of Goldeen or Magikarp. Or what about all the birds or huminoids??? Well, I'm done ranting.

Pinsir just makes me want to cry. It's like Gamefreak decided to completely screw with one pokemon. It learns four fighting moves naturally, yet doesn't have a dual fighting type. Plus it has two massive horns sticking out of its head, yet it can't get Megahorn. Pinsir should have all that is available to Heracross. Of course that would make them even more similar, but it's only fair. Pinsir was around first.

I think that Pinsir IS better than Heracross for a few simple reasons.
1. Heracross is Fighting/Bug....too many weaknesses...(4xFlying,2xfire,2xice,2xpsychic)
2. Pinsir learns Guillotine, a now rare move to Ru/Sa that can get you out of many tight spots
3. One of the best uses for a bug is to take out a psychic...megahorn is ideal for this, but heracross is fighting/bug and isn't fast enough to strike first, but Pinsir doesn't learn any bug moves either. So that is a draw.
4. Pinsir is commonly underestimated whereas Heracross isn't. The only reason people think that Heracross is so much better is because of Megahorn. My Pinsir may not have that, but you laugh at him when I send him out and I know that I have won, because you don't understand what you are dealing with.

I say that the two are about even...but I would definitely go with Pinsir.

Actually pinsir could get a bug move, and be a decent pokemon after all....

There, Pinsir can be good after all.

Does anyone else agree pinsir should learn spikes?

Pinsir does not have horn, he has PINCERS, note the name, otherwise, he would've been named Horner or something, if he had horns. Also, hence why he doesn't get Megahorn.

HOw can Pidegot be a ripoff of Fearow when they were in the same game? Now, Swellow IS A RIPOFF OF FEAROW, they are the same animal, and they're names are so realtive its not even funny.

I do agree. Pinsir needs to be beefed up, or have a specialized move for him, or an evolution, or something. He's oo awesome to not have anything good.

Pinsir is the best bug type there ever was. Unlike scizor he has no x2 fire weakness ,and no x2 flying weakness like heracross. He can cover his all his weaknesses effectively. Finally he also has higher attack then scizor or heracross, but has lower hp. And he does get a bug move.

i hate pinsir soooooo much. he gets earthquake and bulk up now, so he's somewhat better. i just hate him. the only cool thing about him is his name. pinsir is awesome.

you want a great physical attacker? pinsir has nothing, say, zangoose doesn't (minus earthquake), and zangoose gets stab on normal moves too. heracross at least has the original (well, not any more, but you know what i mean) megahorn, which rocks.

pinsir is far more underrated. that's really his only advantage. heracross is just teh best, and i hate pinsir. so, because i hate it, you should not use pinsir. *bows*

edit : ramonerockin, pinsir's attack (125 base) is lower than scizor's (130 base) and equal to heracross'. but yes, he does have worse hp (base 65) than scizor (base 70) and heracross (base ... 80? yeah base 80).

i think Pinsir should have gotten Cross Chop. He'd suit it if he had longer arms...Or maybe Glare would help. He has scary eyes, IMHO.

One can like Pinsir or prefer it over Heracross but with the exception of Swords Dance, Heracross owsn Pinsir. His Flying weakness can be overcomed with a Bulk Up and Counter Combo. His only addtional weakness over Pinsir is Psychic. If a flying type came in, you'd either run anyway or go for the Bulk Up + Counter Combo. As for Psychic types, a Megahorn from Heracross OHKO all non-legendary Psychics except Xatu, Wobbeffeut and Metagross. As for legendaries he does OHKO Celebi. Heracross can also survive a STAB Psychic from a Mewtwo. If you can survive a Mewtwo's Psychic, you can withstand any Psychic attack.
As such, Heracross can deal with Psychics well. Pretty much any Pychics he can't OHKO he's faster than so he can get in another shot. Xatu is a problem but if you combine the "Swarm" ability with a Salac Berry then Heracross owns all Psychics, yes even Mewtwo, types except Lugia. Pinisr knowledge of Guillotine isn't an edge since it is so inaccurate and we now have "Strudy" pokemon. Who would win in a fight of Golem vs Pinsir for example? The Golem with its STABed Rock Slide. It may be slower but it both has better HP and Defense than Pinsir. In short, Heracross is better than Pinisr except that Pinir gets Swords Dance.
