Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels.

Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them breaks and splinters. That is the "loser," and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round.

I have found that, in general, the brown and red M&Ms are tougher, and the newer blue ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the blue M&Ms as a race cannot survive long in the intense theater of competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world.

Occasionally I will get a mutation, a candy that is misshapen, or pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra strength. In this way, the species continues to adapt to its environment.

When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one M&M, the strongest of the herd. Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to M&M Mars, A Division of Mars, Inc., Hackettstown, NJ 17840-1503 U.S.A., along with a 3x5 card reading, "Please use this M&M for breeding purposes."

This week they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon for a free 1/2 pound bag of plain M&Ms. I consider this "grant money." I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the True Champion.

Hoffman is more reliable, but he's better at getting the job done than understanding what he's doing is about. He's learned to "anticipate the human mind", which Amanda failed miserably. But he probably has no clue what he's doing, even though he built the Fatal Five trap, he just followed John's instructions to make it work, and he did a pretty good job, but whether or not he cared or understood what exactly he was doing, that's another matter. But Jigsaw didn't expect him to, he more seemed to NOT expect Hoffman to know, but to have him figure out himself later. "It may be unclear now, but I'm sure the pieces will fit together, they are a part of something greater".
But it's questionable whether Hoffman understands the "rehabilitation" method. Amanda did, no question, but that's all she's good for. Hoffman's forte is the Jigsaw-style chain reactions.

The true irony is that we were worried after hearing about Seth's trap being rigged that Hoffman would have the same unoriginal problem Amanda had with rigging traps. Turns out he's the opposite, Hoffman's all about building traps that are extra kosher, and work both ways. Now he just needs to build ones that work AND have a point rather than be a game for his entertainment.

So yes, Hoffman seems to understand more. Younger John Kramer may have been like Amanda which is why he said she was closest to a connection, but Hoffman is more deserving of the torch.

Actually the answer can be put in simpler terms: Amanda failed. Hoffman PASSED! At least for now. It's been made clear that he knows now how to "do what Jigsaw does", and served his purpose for 'rehabilitation' after what he did to Seth.

We used to use the word "apprentice" a lot, remember? Hoffman is more "apprentice" material definitely.

Hoffman is no Jigsaw, but he's the closest John's ever gonna have to worthy. By the end of Saw V you could say that John is looking up from his grave pleased with Hoffman's transformation.

Obviously not though if he's "untested" in his eyes and needs to be for whatever reason. And no matter how close he comes, he'll probably end up being some kind of pawn.

His death (yes, he WILL be dead by the time the franchise is over, they're not gonna keep him alive in the closing of the franchise) better be something significant and memorable and not something lame like getting shot.

First of all, THE DATE IS TBA FOR NOW. I put the end of the year for now as facebook doesn't have a "TBA" time option, but don't let that fool you, it will change as soon as I find out.

Anyway, it all started with a discussion at dinner, I believe, between Zak, Nick, Alyssa, Michaela, and Amanda. Some discussion about shaving, I'll spare the details, but just thought I should accredit everyone who was present when the idea first originated to make them feel special.
So later we came to a conclusion that Nick, with his trusty clippers, is going to shave Zak's whole entire torso smooth. It was originally supposed to be just the back, but after much discussion, we decided to go with the front as well. The time and location of the event are TBA. But as soon as we know, everyone is welcome to attend this historical, monumental moment.
