...Just on the border of your waking mind...

In a system far away from here is a small planet simply known as Arkos. Here, a civilization similar to ours exists. People work, play, and live their lives from day to day with little fear of the strange. Money and power rule the people and wars are sometimes engaged because of this.

...There lies another time...

But one thing differs between their world and ours: every night, just after dusk, a beautiful phenomenon occurs where everyone is taken to Another Time. I would be lying if I said this place was unlike any other in existence. In fact, it’s almost exactly the same world as Arkos, but for about 4 to 5 hours, an entire segment of the past day is repeated; a sort of retrograde time where people can live through a part of their day a second time.

...Where darkness and light are one...

Unfortunately, this is no trip to the past. Time cannot be changed; only rewitnessed. And for the average person, this is more than enough to leave memory to rest. As Another Time only comes during the night, most people experience it as what they feel is an unearthly recall dream. A sense of distorted déjà-vu of their past day that can be both sweetly and bitterly enjoyed.

...And as you tread the halls of sanity...

Yet, there are those who, for whatever reason, cannot sleep at night. These people know that Another Time is real...and alive. For it is said that anyone who can remain awake for all the night hours, those people will have free roam of all the memories of the people of the world.

...You feel so glad to be unable to go beyond...

Unlike those who sleep, these people are welcome to wander through the experiences of any other person in the world. Anyone of conscious mind is allowed to soar through the skies in search of anything that may be of value to themselves. Some would call them enlightened, others may dub them cursed. Regardless, these Twilightwalkers are the only ones that know what is truly happening in Another Time and the destruction it is slowly bringing to the world...

For the past decade, the people of Arkos have been on the brink of war; the tension over the years has only escaladed into a more and more severe breaking point. Should the fighting ever begin, it would spell doom for not only the inhabitants, but the entire planet itself. Each country has developed its own array of mass-destruction weapons capable off destroying giant cities in a single blow. This has put the entire population under fearful stress, even causing insomnia in a number of people. You are one of these insomniacs, and clinically diagnosed as such. In order to help you through these hard and complicated times, your doctor has recommended you join an Insomnia Research Institute in order to find the root of your problems and possibly resolve them....


Name: Pretty much anything, considering it’s a completely foreign planet.
Age: Normal ages, preferably between late teens and mid-thirties
Gender: Either-or... These people are still human.
Appearance: Nothing crazy, but the civilization is basically Earth in about 20 or so years.
Personality: Have fun! Just remember that everyone, regardless of your personality, is an insomniac
Specialty: This is your gravity power (which will come in very quickly). Basically, everyone will have this power, but you will specialize in using it one way or another. Whether that is flight, gravity rotation, or even compression, you need to have expertise in some area.
History: Keep this rather limited to the past 2 or 3 years, and why your character has become an insomniac and why they turned to the clinic.

Name: Linde (formerly known as Rosalinde Cuyler)
Age: 19
Gender: female, but don't treat her like she's weak. She's tougher than most men.
Appearance: She's a little under average height at 5'4", but her wiry muscles make up for her short stature. Her eyes are a glittering bright blue, fringed with dark lashes. Her dirty dishwater blonde hair is cut short in an angular bob, with the edges darkened to a deep brown. Her nails are short, but usually painted a bright color. Her wardrobe consists of silvers and bright neon colors, heavily influenced by the rave nightclubs she spends most of her time at.
Personality: She is generally a fairly outgoing person, though she tends to be pessimistic. She also tends to have dark, cynical thoughts, though she experiences energetic, manic states as well. She is by no means an unpleasant person, however. Most of the time, she appears to be calm and in control. She's fairly level-headed in a crisis, and nothing seems to surprise her, due to her open mindset. She is extremely loyal to her friends, though she is also unforgiving. Once you become her enemy, it's unlikely she'll ever befriend you, due to her slight paranoia. She's fiercely protective of her loved ones, especially children. She has a strong sense of justice, and she tends to be cruel to those who harm others intentionally, for their own gains, and she won't hesitate to "teach someone a lesson". She can be quick to anger, but she almost never holds grudges long.
Specialty: Linde's specialty has to do with shields, though her control is somewhat shaky. She uses her gravity abilities to manipulate any threatening person or object that comes within about a three to four foot radius of her person. Usually, she causes the person/object to become so heavy, they simply drop to the ground. In the case of an airborne object, such as a bullet, she might fling it around herself and back at the enemy.
History: Linde is an inner-city kid, born and bred. Until a few months after her 16th birthday, she lived with her stepfather (her real father is missing and her mother died when she was a child) until his suspicious death. She loved him dearly, and was devastated by his sudden death. The police claimed that he had a hand in the creation and distribution of a dangerous new drug, which led to his murder. Linde believes that her stepfather would never have done such a thing, and is obsessed with finding his murderers, seeking vengeance, and clearing his name. She ran away from the foster home they attempted to place her in(changing her name to Linde), and the stress of fending for herself in a cruel world on the brink of war, combined with the grief of losing her most precious person, caused her to have terrible nightmares every time she fell asleep. This caused her to fear sleeping, and over the last three years she has become a complete insomniac. She's lucky to get more than 30 minutes of sleep a night. A few nights ago, she collapsed at a rave club from exhaustion after not sleeping for over a week. She was taken to a hospital, who
referred her to the Insomnia Research Clinic.
Other: She has a deep love for music, especially techno. She loves to go out to clubs and dance whenever she can. Her stepfather was also a techno fan, and took her to her first club for her 15th birthday.

Name: Michael
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance: A typical 1.85 meters tall, bespectacled shounen studying in a university in his first year. Sporting a crew-cut hairstyle, influenced from his army days, and also a ever ferocious facial look, he has a tendency of scaring the wits out of passer-bys even though he did not mean it. His personal favorite outdoor wears are usually his branded T-shirts and jeans, which were all bought by his parents while working abroad, he usually wore them to school.
Personality: Serious, possessing leadership quality, always fearful of nightmares and staying up late into the night editing his assignments. The attitude all narrows down with Michael being a workaholic and an insomniac. Although he never admits being one, one could easily spot the dark rings surrounding his eyes from his lack of sleep. Whenever a project mate of his does the group assignment in a way that he does not agree with, he will flushed out his entire anger and temper onto the person. This hot-headed actions of his isolated him from the rest of the university mates. However because of his ability to concentrate and produced quality work, many of his mates still leeched onto him.
Specialty: Black Hole Creation. Michael's ability allows him to create a black hole void anywhere as he wishes. Although his favourite killing style would be to create one within a living specimen's abdomen and totally absord their internals into nothingness using a gravitational force of 80G. Victims of his powers will died within seconds of its activation and none will live to tell tale. His power has an effective range of eight hundred meters. And everyone within this range has the chance to become his potential victims as long as he chooses to kill.
History: His illness can be traced back some 3 years ago. Shortly after his graduation from high school instead of happily joining up his friends in a local university, his militarist dad forces his son to enlist in the army in the name of his family heritage that every first born of the family has to undertake this burden. For the next a year and a half, Michael was put through hell and is forced into war frontline during peace keeping missions where he seen multiple deaths of civilians and his comrades. During his stint there, he was subsequently promoted to the rank of captain due to his good performance. And by the end of his second year in army, he was later discharged from service due to health concerns. He has been traumatized by all those deaths in the frontline, so much so that he even sees them in his dreams. As a result, he became afraid of going to sleep ever since then. He had consulted doctors who had recommend him to go back to school in hope that the peace of a civilian life could calm his nerves.
Other: He studies in the business faculty for his bachelor degree in Business Management. And has always top the dean list for the last two semesters to every of his peers' envy.

Name: Lysander Trebbish (Just Ander for short)
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Appearance: Ander is quite attractive, if he weren’t always under the effects of his insomnia. He stands just short of six feet, and has an average body frame, enhanced by slight muscle tone. His eyes are a grayish teal, making them seem almost faded from no sleep (more often than not, encircled with dark rings). His hair is medium length, straight, and vaguely parted down the left in an emo-goth, curtained style that hangs down into his face; his hair is a dark auburn-brown. He normally wears long and somewhat oversized baggy clothes. Typically a black, long-sleeve shirt with a light gray, fleece vest (usually unzipped) overtop. His pants are a pair of dark blue jeans with various holes and runs ripped into them. For shoes, he has a pair of well-worn, white and teal high tops. All these clothes are used to hide the scars and lacerations that litter his body. From the marks on his neck, to the scabs and slice scars on his wrists; he even has unexplainable mutilations and wounds on his legs, as well as remnants from cuts on his face...
Personality: Ander was, long ago, diagnosed with BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder). While normally very neutral and undecided about most things, his stressful life has caused him to be, well...a little off. He has severe abandonment issues, so he can be very clingy to people, and will go to any extent to keep people around him, which has extended to suicidal threats on rare occasion. This is the cause of several of the lacerations and scars on his body. Often times that not, Ander seems exceedingly anxious, like he can’t sit still and is the prime cause of his insomnia. When he’s not anxious, he’s more likely to be frustrated or irritable about something, which eventually leads him into a depressive state, and back to anxious again. Unfortunately, this is often unpredictable and seems to happen on a whim...
Specialty: Ander’s gravity specialty lies in his ability to shift the direction of gravity, letting him (or nearby others) to walk on walls and ceilings, even ‘fall’ to the top of a building. Basically, he can walk across the floor, up a wall, along the ceiling, down another wall, and back to the floor without effort, even jumping from wall to wall without falling.
History: As a child, Lysander was physically abused by his father, and abandoned by his mother. At 4, his father was arrested and Ander was left in the care of his widowed and promiscuous aunt, basically leaving him to fend for himself and grow up ‘alone.’ At the age of 16, he was diagnosed with his BPD, when insomnia began to affect his everyday behavior. He began attending the Insomnia clinic when we was 17 and has attended it every since. Recently, due to the stress caused by the war, his sleepless condition has worsened from a side effect to its own problem.
Other: Ander will be quick to befriend anyone and pledge to never leave their side, as long as they swear never to leave his.

Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance: Paige is around 5’7’’ tall with a petite build. She has olive green eyes, a pale complexion and a few little freckles that go across her nose and onto her cheeks. Her hair is a mousey brown colour with a few golden blonde looking highlights, with bangs that frame her face that is a couple of inches short of being able to sit on it. It is quite wavy towards the bottom; she often ties it in a loose pony tail or a braid to keep it out of the way. She favours skirts and dresses over jeans and is currently wearing a cream coloured dress with red straps that reaches just below her knees. The edges along the chest are also red, as well as the fabric belt around her waist, which is tied in a bow behind her back, and along the hem at the bottom. She has a white thin woollen cardigan, black leggings that reach about half way down her shins and a pair of blue polka dot dolly shoes. She has no obvious signs of insomnia physically, as she has not been suffering from it for very long.
Personality: Paige’s friends at college would probably describe her as cheerful, bouncy, kind and carefree, which is exactly how she tries to act. Deep down, Paige worries about the slightest details concerning anything, even as small as “Did I spell the word apostrophe right on the test?”. This developed from being a small inconvenience to a major paranoia, to the extent that she sometimes thinks her own parents hate her. Her doctor says that her paranoia has helped to cause her obsessive compulsive disorder, where she now finds she has to do things over and over until she’s finally convinced that it’s how it’s meant to be. Covering up her OCD at college has almost turned into an OCD itself. (Insomnia to be explained in History!) Other than this, it’s quite hard to dislike her, as she is always aiming to please people and continues to uphold her cheerful attitude, even if she is constantly lying about how she is.
Specialty: Paige’s speciality is flight. She finds it liberating to be able to get away from everything. However, she finds it difficult to fly slowly, a skill that she is working on at the clinic. She can also cause other objects and people to fly, but again only at a very fast speed.
History: Paige was doing quite well at college, obtaining good grades through her obsessive studying despite her paranoia that she had failed, until the more recent fear of war came upon the country. Paige’s insomnia developed when heard a loud crashing noise outside her house and had to get out of bed every hour to make sure that the war hadn’t started and that she was safe. Now, even if she thinks she hears the slightest noise, she has to check, causing many sleepless nights. Her parents took her to the doctor after she passed out with exhaustion at college, who then referred her to the Insomnia Research Clinic, where she has been for the past 3 months or so.

Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance: She is 5’7” tall with a slim and slightly curvy figure. She has soft violet eyes and just over shoulder-length, light, auburn brown hair, that she mostly wears down. Often seen wearing a pair of pearl earrings. Her favourite top is purple, with a hood and sleeves that are purposefully too long. The bottom half varies from skirts to jeans, although she wears a pair of worn jeans more frequently nowadays. She wears tall, heeled, black suede boots, both with several buckles around it. She has a few pairs with varying heights, (the shorter one to wear with jeans). Despite her feminine appearance she is a bit stronger than the average person.
Personality: Xiao is laid-back to the point that she could be called indifferent, thus she is always rather calm, even during critical moments. But she prefers to avoid those sorts of situations and just go along with the flow of life; basically just do what she is told to do. Although not socially adept, she prefers to be with a group of people to stop herself going into her own world, which would bring up memories that cause her insomnia (more details in history). At the same time she avoids getting too emotionally attached to people.
Specialty: Her gravity power is along the lines of flight. It allows her to jump particularly high or wide. She can also float around or hover for a little while, either high in the air after a jump/fall, or close to the ground from normal. Her power can be applied to other people or objects for limited amounts of time (if she isn’t holding onto them at least). She finds it difficult to actually fly though.
History: Since early childhood Xiao helped her parents run a bakery/sweet store when they moved into the city, which became very popular and successful and branched out into a chain. She attended the local school. Recently she closed up after their own store was robbed at gunpoint and her parents killed when they tried to stop them. The trauma of seeing her parents die in front of her and in her arms never fails to give her nightmares and she suffers from flashbacks. Her personality allows her to hide this from people, but she was inevitably referred to the Insomnia Research Institute, as her councillor could tell she wasn’t sleeping.
Other: Loves cute things. Although, she can find the strangest things cute…

Has short and spiky brown hair with skyblue eyes. Elfish features, and only a few small pimples.Has some freckles from under his right eye to across his nose and under let eye.
Personality: Fun to be around, has an up beat attitude. Romantic and nice, loves to be around the ladies. Is great to talk to about things that are personal. Usually is persistent and determined too. But there isa dark side to him. Whe angred he goes into an uncontrolable frenzy that could hurt somone or possibly kill them.
Specialty: Can eliminate air resistance and force of gravity aorund him so he can run faster. Uses his lightning fast speede for stuff like escaping and running up things.
History: When Cyrus was 16, his parents dies in a car crash. e then went to live withhis Uncle who then dies of Cancer when Cyus was Seventeen. He then went off on his own as a nomad, and became an insomiac fearing daeth himself, and wanting to live his life as much as possible. So he chose to not sleep thinking that if he lived through the night he would get double as much "live life time." Wndering sround he came across the Insmoniac Research Facility, and decided to stop in. It was then he found an 18 year old girl named Paige. They became really good friends, and the docters there decided to start working on him also.

Interesting reason behind his insomnia! The only problems I have are with his Personality and Specialty. Try to elaborate a bit more on his personality... Point out a flaw or two as well. As for specialty, it needs to be something unique. (What you have right now is a cross between Paige and Xiao's specialties). If you need some help with that, don't be afraid to message me on AIM! Name: Liam Cveril
Age: 24
Gender: Male

Appearance: Tall and thin. Around 6'1" and weighs around 160 lbs. Liam's skin is a pasty, peachish-white. His nose, cheeks, and ears are generally rosy due to his sensitivity to cold. He has blonde hair that can be mistaken for white rather easily in certain light. He keeps it parted on the right and tucked behind his ears. His square-framed glasses hold the loose strands back except for one which is too short to be held and falls in front of his nose. His eyes are a watery green and match the color of his glasses' frames. As for his clothing, he normally wears two shirts and whatever pants he can find. around his neck and under his shirts, he wears a locket that his sister gave him before she was taken away.

Personality: Liam is a rather jumpy man, which results from being teased by his peers from a very young age. His voice is a little higher pitched than most men his age, so he sounds more like a young teenager than a 24 year old. He's kind-hearted, but doesn't talk much in fear of being criticized by others.

Specialty: Liam able to create a miniscule clump of black holes, then separate them, creating a distortion in the dimensional plain, or a rip. He is capable of entering these rips from anywhere, but because his power relies on space and time, the outcome is constantly changing. Liam can predict possibilities of where each rip may lead, but they are never 100% accurate. The endless possibilities often lead to him overthinking to a point where he can't rest until he has everything completely figured out.

History: Liam was teased for being so clingy to his sister ever since he was a child, but the teasing only made him cling to her more. Even in his twenties, Liam relied on his sister for almost everything, she was his guardian angel. However, she was taken away from him two and a half years ago after being accused of experimenting on civilians which later died. He blames his insomnia on his sudden and misfortunate loss of his sister.

I think I kinda make Moses' history somehow a tad too long; hit me up if you think I should edit that one too.


Name: Moses

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Appearance: Moses stands at barely 5’4”, but he makes it up with his lithe build. His skin is darkish brown – his origin is from a tropical country. His dark ebony hair is very short – a crewcut – and he sports a small lump of beard and an even thinner patch of moustache (which otherwise could be described as ‘whiskers’).

The sign of insomnia is evident on his face – his weary dark brown eyes that usually appear as listless – but the more dominant feature of his face is the scar that runs across his right cheek down to his chin, where it cuts over his lips partially. He has two teeth missing – the ones that are under the scar. Both the scar and the missing teeth were the result of – ironically, in the age of technological advancement – being smitten by a machete two years ago. Besides the scar, his body also bore other terrible reminder of war – bruise, scars, burnt mark – hidden beneath plain t-shirt and cargo pants. For his footwear, Moses is comfortable with a pair of sandals.

Personality: Moses is, on the whole, very good natured: most of the time, he come across as someone that is very agreeable and sociable. This has something to do with the way he was brought up by his parents: despite the hardship faced, he was taught the virtue of patience, to not be overbearing, to be satisfied with whatever he could get. But most importantly, he was taught to never lose faith.

After the event that killed his family, Moses still retain the good values taught by his parents, but he now finds it hard to trust others: the feeling of mistrust is not so severe, however, but for him, it is rather significant. Following the event, he also doesn’t react well with argument – preferring to avoid them as much as he could – but when driven into a corner, he will not hesitate to strike back.

Specialty: Moses specialize in bending and warping objects by utilizing gravity. In other word, he could manipulate the shape of other objects (think psychic power). However, it remains speculative whether he could actually manipulate living being (and it was not that he was eager to try it anyway).

The power of bending and warping cover even light as well: that is, by bending the property of light itself, Moses is capable of making himself (and pretty much other object) invisible (think of black hole). Again, the full extent of the power is rather speculative.

History: The story of Moses begin from his birthplace: an isolated tropical country that was unfortunately very close to one of the ‘superpower’ country. His country (which could now not be found in any world map) was constantly subjected to oppression and attack from the neighbouring country (the history of the feud goes back to twenty years or so before he was born) until, one day (five years ago) a whole-out attack from the neighbouring country drove the people to flee from their home. Soon after, he – as well as his family and the rest of the survivors – lived off as refugees in camps, denied of their rights to return.

Their life went on painfully for about three years, until the unimaginable happened: the army of the neighbouring country launched a massive attack on the refugees’ camps, with the intention of eradicating the remnant of the survivors. This time around, the survivors’ number was cut down to about one-tenth of the original number of the survivors, and Moses’ family were unfortunately among the ones that were killed.

Years of being exposed to the horror of war can break down the will of the strongest man; if Moses did not have a firm grip of faith, he would most surely break down by now. Nevertheless, the nightmare of the massacre still haunt him even to this day, to the point that he became restless, and eventually, insomniac. He hadn’t sought for help until recently, and after a few diagnoses, it was recommended that he join the Insomnia Clinic. He immediately did so, hoping to find peace of mind.
