    Default Balance STARTS! LSU's welcome

    Thanks to Dr. McNinja

There’s a legend among the people of the planet of Earth:

In the beginning was chaos and violence. The power-hungry people of the world tore each other apart in order to gain full control. Then came the four gods to bring order and cleanse the planet.

Lord Dairyuu, the fierce dragon of yang.

Lady Kagetsubasa, the black phoenix of yin.

Lord Hanako, the kirin of birth and life.

Lady Tsukihime, the kitsune of death.

They made a world a blank slate and used it as their canvas, even repopulating it with their own “children” whom they named Daemons. Confident that the Daemons were void of hatred and violence, they took their leave.

Thousands of years later, the planet is once again teeming with life. No longer are there monstrous towers of steel to block out the sky, or smog to hide the sun. The technology that the Daemons developed is more advanced than the earlier people could ever imagine. Science balances perfectly with nature.

The Daemons resemble the former human species with one major difference: the powers that the gods gave them. Born helpless but steadily gain them as they grow, this power is a gift from one of the four gods and is used to support the world.

But the people fear a new god, a mysterious being that calls itself Chaos. Chaos was a purple-eyed Daemon that didn’t seem to develop any of the powers. Shunned and humiliated, he disappeared centuries ago, but not before promising doom on the whole world.

Stories started to float around of strange storms appearing from nowhere.

Of nature going out of control.

    Of technology going rogue.

Of young Daemons with purple irises roaming the streets, then disappearing before they attracted attention.

People started to prepare for the worst. The worst is soon to come.

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Generals are usually well into adulthood (mid thirties and older), with their powers fully developed. Of course, they’re more powerful than lower ranks and have extended training. And they can be male or female.

Lieutenants have different roles. Some keep an eye on the city as well as the surrounding wilderness. Others teach students on how to use and control their powers.

Lieutenants are late teens and up.

The rest of the population is either ordinary working citizens or students (children and teens). Most working citizens were power restraining collars unless their job calls for their full power. All students wear them.

From 0 to 13, Daemon children are in the TR, or "Tabula Rasa" stage. The day before thirteen-year-olds gain their special powers in the first day of spring (which happens pretty much overnight), their eyes change color. The only way anyone knows what race they’re in is by looking in their eyes at that time. Other than that, they all naturally have pale skin and white hair. Parents usually want their kids to feel like individuals so they’ll cut their hair in different ways and let them wear weird clothes or even costumes. And tattoos and ear piercing are allowed since advanced tech allows the process to be almost completely painless. But no hair dying, because that will mess with the hair as it also changes color. The hair color, though, varies widely among them and can even be more than one color. Kids sometimes keep their TR style (as far as clothing, hairstyle, and such) even after the change.

After the big change, kids are switched to a special school with regular academics mixed with training classes. They wear special uniforms in the new school (red boarding school suits for guys, red and white sailor fuku for girls). Before then, normal elementary school.

The last week of winter has everyone getting lightweight, metal restraining collars that cannot be removed by anyone except a radio signal that the Generals send out in case of an emergency.

    Name: Ichimaru Hotaru
    Gender: Female
    Age: 13
    Race: Hana
Appearance: She's 4'5" with a usually cheerful expression. In her TR stage, Hotaru wears her hair in a high ponytail in the back, with a black ribbon tied to it. A double helix tattoo surrounds her neck. She wears a white blouse and blue jeans. After the change, her now mint-green hair is worn the same way, with a pale yellow ribbon instead. She also likes to wear flowers in her hair.
Personality: Hotaru is usually cheerful...when she's not panicking about something. Which is more than half the time. Worrying about tests, about being late, about forgetting something (or even the possibility of), and even random things. She'll also have short tempers during her bad days, which will definitely reflect in her powers (like random vines sprouting from the ground to trip people. But she's graceful for a Hana and can think on her feet.
    Specialty: Plant healing and manipulation.
Relations: None yet. Waiting on others
Other: Um...can't think of any right now.

    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Okay, let's see..." my mom said softly as she tilted my head up. I groaned and kept my eyes tightly closed, as if keeping them that way will get me the race I want. "Hotaru, you'll be just fine. No more playing around."

I sighed and opened my right eye. Mom smiled. A bad sign.

    "You're a Hana."

"NOOOOOOOO!" I howled as I rushed the nearest window. Spring green eyes. Why did they have to be so bright?

Mom put her hands on her hips. "Don't be a drama queen. There's nothing wrong with being a Hana."

    "But...but...you're a Tsuki! And Dad's a Ryuu! Why am I a Hana?"

"You grandmother was a Hana, and a very good one at that. Now get dressed. You can't just mope all day. You have your first day at the academy, remember?"

"But I don't even have my powers yet! How come I still have to go?"

"You still have regular classes." She patted my head and left.

I groaned and sat on the floor. Mom told me about her first day at the academy. Today would be my first day and my first time seeing the awesome Lieutenants that taught there. But today will be an half-day since no one had developed any powers. This sucks. I won't even get my powers until tomorrow.

If you have a student character, he'll have the eye color change but no powers. This will be a way for us to get used to each other's characters.

    Name: Daichi Wamiyazen
    Gender: Male
    Age: 13
    Race: Ryuu
Appearance: His form is tall, thin, and lanky. Much so that you wouldn't expect him to be physically strong, but he is decently fast on his own. He keeps his dark brown, nearly black hair shaggy and a little past shoulder length untied. Daichi wears his uniform with the neck buttoned all the way up, wearing a set that looks a size too big for him (not that he minds really, he prefers it this way). He has a pair of small rimmed glasses that rest on the bridge of his nose. Unless he's hit really hard, the glasses stay resting on his face (they appear to just be for close objects anyway). Around his neck (under the uniform) is a bright stone given to him by his family when he was accepted to the academy, to always keep them in his heart. His TR form is basically the same, save for the hair and eye color changes.
Personality: Daichi seems to physically resemble one of the popular boys, but his personality doesn't. He's quiet, a bit complaint, but always thinking about something. Quick-witted at times, and silent at others, he is a good problem solver. Mostly, he spends his time reading in the school's yard or roof, eating things he's cooked himself, and sometimes daydreaming, staring at the sky. He doesn't enjoy the idea of fighting, and rather would avoid fighting at all. Sometimes he over-reacts, very comedic at that and usually goes off on a tangent when talking about subject he particularly enjoys, such as cooking or history.
Specialty: His specialty is not well known at the moment. So far, he really doesn't know. He simply hasn't been goaded into trying. He can use all elements (unbeknown to him), however they're at a decreased power compared to those with a single element.
Relations: Open, I mean really who wouldn't want to be the friend of such a lug?
Other: He is the offspring of a Ryuu and a Tsuki, as such the two were unsure which of the two races Daichi would be. He shows a great interest in reading, learning, but also cooking and food. Somewhat seen as someone trying to steal all the girls in the school (except for the fact that Daichi hasn't really given that much thought), and has gotten him into a few instances where his quick wits and fast legs keep him from getting pummeled (most of the time).

“So much promise, so little motivation.” ~Academy Instructor
    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Walking through the large gate along with a myriad of other students, Daichi held the briefcase with his books and school supplies in one hand, and his other was covering his mouth and the large yawn that was coming out. He was a bit tired, and really expected as much, he hadn’t gotten that much sleep the night before.

Moving into the academy dormitory had been stressful enough, and while he was organizing he got distracted and started reading some of his books and didn’t finish unpacking until late that night. He wasn’t the only one who had to move from far away to attend the academy. There were others in the dorms that had moved in the previous days, and Daichi had seen some of them getting settled in.

He looked up at the large building and the students walking towards it.

“Man,” he said, letting out a sigh. “I wanted to sleep in today…”

    Name: Hikari Meoru
    Gender: Male
    Age: 19
Race: Chao (pfft hahaha I can't stop laughing at it)
Appearance: For a 19 year old, Hikari is around 5'11. His white hair is done up in very tight braids, tied backwards so as to not restrict his vision when moving. He has a short reach, but long legs. Eyes are a silent white..for now.
Personality: Up until that faithful day 6 years ago, Hikari was as normal boy. He laughed and sing and ran-truly loved running. It was his dream to become a Kage. But on that day-his personality flipped. He was violent, abrasive-and just plain disappointed with what the world seemed to offer him.
Specialty: His specialty is just watching the world burn one way or another.
Relations: None right now...but I mean, if ya wanna, you surely can
Other: Hikari acts out of pure will. As we go along, we'll figure out the rest ! Join me?

    =====

    ~~Flashback~~

    *knock knock knock*

"Hey. Hik! Come on, its the last day of winter! Let's see if you take after your old man!"

"I--I don't think you should come in here, Dad." Shuffling could be heard behind the door, followed by what sounded like heavy kicks to the side of the bed. The older Tsuki tried to open the door with his mind, but found that his ability was severely weakened. The commotion caused the mother, a beautiful women with deep brown eyes, to try and see if she could aid the situation. The father raised a hand, having a thought of what could have occurred.

"Why not, son. Just yesterday you slept 16 hours in order to usher today. You're well on your way to manhoo-"

    "SHUT UP! ABOUT! MANHOOD!"

The older Tsuki fell over, clutching his head. A buzzing began to rumble throughout his brain, distorting his perception and his focus. Bodily fuctions began to act disorderly, and he felt his heart go through severe palpitations, before pausing-and then starting up at a hyperactive rate. Unable to fight away the sound, the man lied there, thinking the worst had befallen him. His wife ran to his side, trying to see if there was anything she could do. As the man fought for his life, she turned to look toward the locked room. A room she thought she knew everything about.

Apparently, on this day-things had changed...

    Name: Aki Kagami
    Gender: Female
    Age: Thirteen
    Race: Hana
Appearance: She is some what lanky and boyish in appearance, not really looking strikingly female. She has short hair that she braids into a single pony tail when she is out of school she wears a cap and hides her distinctive braid to keep from being recognized. She has a single scar across her fore head that she usually keeps hidden, having gotten it from a knife fight when she was younger. It is the only part of her that she cannot heal no matter what.
Personality: She is the walking definition of a problem child, she will get into fights, taunt, place gum under people’s seat, and refuse to do her homework. She actually could be smart if she applied herself, but finds that as the easy and weak path. She helps her mother run a clinic for animals out of their house, although she keeps such things a absolute secret and threatens to pummel anyone that dares tell that she has a soft side.
Specialty: She can calm and command almost any animal, and has a low amount of healing when she is petting or feeding an animal.
    Relations: Nothing really
    Other: Nuttin

    * Aki Kagami *

“Hana…I’m a hana…” I gazed at my reflection in the full-length mirror; the eyes were a piercing green in color, they seemed soft yet mysterious at the same time. The shock was beginning to wear off but every time I looked in the mirror my eyes would immediately focus on the new eye color. It was like I was looking into a familiar yet different reflection.

But of all the different powers I could gain, it had to be those of a Hana? Freaking healing powers?!

“Aki? Aki let us in, we want to see!” Dad banged on the door, it was days like these that I thanked the heavens for the lock on my door.

I quickly dashed across the room, grabbing my backpack. “I can’t, have new classes and all that, I can’t be late for my first day!” My voice was dripping with sarcasm, with as many first days I had missed at my other school, if I missed today it would actually be keeping with tradition.

“Open this door right now young lady!” It was my mother this time, jiggling the doorknob. Yeah a dead bolt is going to unlock by jiggling the doorknob.

I unzipped my backpack, filling it with pens, paper, folders, the usual school crap. Then I reached under my bed, pulling out a small drawer that I kept hidden. These were my true school supplies, tacks, whoopee cushions, a small hand held b-b gun that could be augmented with paintball pellets, as well as the ammo needed for both.

I did have a reputation to uphold!

“Aki if you do not open this door right this minute…” The thing about those kinds of threats, is that you slip out before they can finish it, if they cannot finish it then they will never carry out the punishment.

I climbed out of the unlatched window, tossing my backpack down the sloped roof. “Sorry mom, can’t be late!” I tried to put on the cheeriest, good girl voice I could before jumping out the window.

New school, new people, stupid healing powers, and a clean reputation that I can quickly dirty up!

    Name: Tandem Eizer
    Gender: Male
    Age: 13
    Race: Tsuki
Appearance: Tandem hasn't really changed much from his TR appearance, only his eyes, which are now an ice blue. He's quite thin, almost appearing frail with long, thin, white hair which falls over his face. His skin is quite smooth, free of any blemishes.
Personality: Tandem is the kind of person you could forget he was in the room until he either spoke up or you bumped into him. He's quiet, almost to the point where he rarely speaks. (because of this, many people believe he's mute). Normally, outside of class, you could find him sitting on his own in quiet meditation, not very willing to speak with anyone unless addressed first, and even then he would rarely say much. It's difficult to make him angry, as he would simply ignore any insults thrown at him.
Specialty: Tandem was the potential for great telekinetic powers, which are usually amplified to some extent when he's meditating. However, it's very rare for him to use these powers out in the open. He has some degree of intelligance, but due to his quiet personality rarely contributes to the class.
Relations: None yet, open to others.
    Other:

    Tandem Eizer
    ---------------------------

Anyone paying attention would have noticed a thin, long haired boy sitting calmly, cross-legged against one of the walls of the school. His eyes were closed, his voice seemingly void of all emotion.

It shouldn't be long now. His parents had told him that at this age it would finally become clear what he was meant to be, and would recieve his powers. So now, the young man was doing what he believed any person about to recieve powers should do.

    He was meditating.

He needed complete control over his mind and body. The sooner he would be able to gain control over his new abilities (whatever they were). It wouldn't be long now. The school day would be beginning soon and while he knew he would be experiencing some changes first before gaining any abilities, Tandem felt he was more than ready.

For a brief moment, his eyes slowly cracked open, revealing a chilling blue before they were hidden behind his eyelids once again.
I'm in your dimensions, screwing with your reality!

    Daichi Wamiyazen
“A pinch of salt, some parsley and we’re ready to eat!” ~Daichi Wamiyazen
    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

“Students, can I have your attention?” one of the higher instructors asked as the ruckus in the conference hall started to quiet down.

Daichi sat in his chair, leaning back slightly. His bag was resting on the floor by his foot, with the other propped up on his knee. Only a half day and he was sitting here with dozens, maybe hundreds of students, each packed into this hall like one of his own lunches. The chairs were uncomfortable, and the heat from so many people so close together was going to get unbearable.

The speech was one that outlined the class schedule for the rest of the semester. Education coupled with training in our skills, some cooperative training, and others that Daichi wasn’t paying much attention to.

With some last final words, the headmaster of the academy had someone else come to the podium and announced that the students should start heading to their first classes of the day. Daichi picked up his bag and waded through the sea of students that was heading out through the doors and to the rest of the campus.

He took out a piece of paper and looked at his list of classes.

“If I’m here,” he said out loud to himself. “And the class is here, then I have … a long walk.”

Suddenly he felt a swift kick to his backside, causing him to jump from the surprise and pain.

“OUCH! What the?!” He spun around to see a group of older students laughing at him, and some others chuckling. Putting two and two together he reached behind him and felt a note tapped to his back. Pulling it off, it read: Kick Me. “Charming…” he muttered crinkling the paper into a ball and tossing it into the nearest wastebasket. First day and already the butt of someone’s jokes. It can’t get any worse… no… scratch that. It can.

In front of Daichi was a group of seniors. Or rather a gang of them.

“Hey newbie,” one of them said addressing Daichi. “Looks like someone’s got it out for ya.”

“Hai,” he replied. “It’s just a prank, nothing to get worked up about.”

“I wasn’t talking about them,” the leader leaned in on Daichi. “I was talking about us.”

    “Eh?”

“Look here kid, we rule the school. So if you want to survive, you can join us.”

“Hmm…” Daichi thought out loud. “Be ridiculed on my own… or be feared and hated by the rest of the school… I think I’ll stick on my own.”

By then Daichi realized that he was surrounded by the rest of this school gang, and his back to the wall. Awe crap. Yup, got worse.

“Look here,” the leader said leaning in. Even with the restraining collar the senior was able to form a blade of fire and held it close to Daichi. “I wasn’t giving you a choice.”

Why the hell do they want me?! Daichi yelled to himself mentally.

“Just what is going on here?” said a stern female voice and Daichi saw the gang’s faces freeze over as if an oni itself was standing behind them.

“Oh, Amaya-sama,” the leader replied, visibly nervous. “We were just showing around one of the newbies around.”

    “What newbie?” she asked, annoyed.

They looked back where Daichi was, and found out the young man was gone.

    * * *

Daichi found himself slowing down a bit to catch his breath. “Thank the spirits for teachers,” he muttered to himself as he caught his breath and managed to make his way to the class.

As he neared the doors he could hear the roll being called.

    “Wamiyazen Daichi?”

    Nothing.

    “Daichi! Wamiyazen Daichi!?”

Daichi pushed the doors open. “He-here!” he announced as he made his way in.

“You’re late.” The instructor’s voice was a bit stern.

“I got kinda lost,” Daichi replied rubbing the back of his head nervously.

“Whatever the excuse, you are here now, so please take your seat,” he was pointed to one empty seat near the windows. Quickly Daichi made his way and sat down, just as a loud reverberating sound of flatus broke through the classroom.

Everyone looked at Daichi, as his face was beat red and just as surprised as everyone else. He had sat on something and pulled out a now flat whoopee-cushion. Everyone busted up laughing, until the instructor got even more flustered and annoyed demanding to see Daichi after class was done for the day.

“Awe man,” Daichi mumbled, covering his head on the desk. “Somehow I think I was better off with a flame dagger at my neck…”

    Ichimaru Hotaru -- Hana student
    *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

    Poke.

    "Hey..."

    Poke poke.

    "Hey!"

The mysterious boy made no response as he sat with his back against the wall. I groaned and poked him one more time. "You're going to miss the assembly!" I yelled. "Shoot, now I'm going to be late!"

He slowly opened his ice-blue eyes and stood. Nothing was said as I followed him inside the school. This is one weird kid. Are all Tsukis like that? Mom isn't that much of a space case, and she has out of body experiences.

The day started off with the obligatory start-of-the-year speech, targeted mainly at the freshmen. It took all of my willpower to not fall asleep. Then, as if by magic, I snapped to full consciousness as the headmaster dismissed everyone.

I quickly found the meditating Tsuki again on my way to my first class. "Sorry about the poking earlier. I'm Hotaru. Hana," I greeted.

He momentarily slowed down and nodded. "Tandem. Tsuki."

I smiled a little. "I think we have our first class together." We both stopped in front of the classroom and looked inside. There were students from all races. I took an empty seat in the front row while Tandem took one near the back.

The teacher, a slightly irritated Ryuu, started taking the roll. When she got to one name, the corresponding student burst through the door. To make matters worse for him, the desk that he'd chosen had a whoopie cushion on it. I couldn't help but join the other students as they laughed at his expense.

The Hana behind me snickered. "What an idiot. This is going to be easy."

Shortly after the roll call, the teacher was interrupted again. She opened the door for a female visitor, a Hana just like me with a slightly ghostly appearance. She gave a slight bow and smiled. "Greetings. I'm Todou Aiko, head Hana instructor."

    Name: Todou Aiko
    Gender: Female
    Age: 25
    Race: Hana
Appearance: Six feet tall and with a willowy body with almost no muscle. White hair is kept short in the back and hangs down the left side of her face, covering her left eye. She has a tattoo of a green vine that starts at each shoulder and seems to twist around her arms to her wrists. Gold hoop earrings are worn in her ears. In school she's dressed in a light green dress that goes down to her shins.
Personality: Aiko's the motherly type. Calm and soft-spoken no matter what the situation. She's also very perceptive to the point that students think that she's psychic. Despite this, she can be completely obvious to some things. Not too stern but she looks down on recklessness. Although she doesn't like violence, she won't back down from a necessary fight either.
Specialty: Advanced healing, as well as plant manipulation. The latter skill was required recently, as even though she's learned quickly, it tires her out quickly.
    Relations: none
    Other: None.

"You wanted to see me, general?"

The muscular Kage behind the oak desk looked up from his work. "You were absent from the assembly, Todou."

I bowed. "I apologize. Yesterday's training took too much out of me."

He narrowed his eyes, perturbed that I had ignored his warnings of practicing plant manipulation early. "I trust that you'll take it easy since you're responsible for regular academic classes as well as training?"

"Hai. There will be no more tardies."

"Good. You should make yourself known; I've heard that we have an interesting group of freshmen this year." I didn't need confirmation of my dismissal.

The freshmen were mixed and in their own classes for the moment so I only had to visit a few classrooms. I waited for the Ryuu instructor to let me into the first one. The students stared while I introduced myself. "May the Hana students please stand?"

Four students stood, one of which seemed to hesitate since the other three were female. I took the roll from the instructor. "Aki Kagami?" I asked.

A girl in the second row gasped but quickly recovered. "What?" she replied harshly.

I just gave her a small smile. "I believe you have your next class with me. Make sure you're on time." I returned the list to the instructor and left, ignoring her grumbles about interruptions and annoying things in people's seats. I closed the door behind me in time to muffle her yelp when she also sat on something.

    Name: Leaf
    Gender: F
    Age: 23
    Race: Ryuu
    Appearance: Ill be lazy
    Like this without the Bird
Personality: Defensive, closed, very much the tomboy. Stubbornly independant. She prefers to look after herself and gets upset if she's forced to rely on someone else. Inwardly she thinks the same as everyone else and appreciates friendship etc though refuses to show anything that may be construed as weak on the outside. Is very tough on those she teaches since she's learned that the toughest lessons are the ones that stick with you.
Specialty: Electrical Discharges. Shes basically a Pikachu in human form Generating the power throughout her whole body before discharging in various forms. For an unknown reason however when her mood changes and she gets angry or upset her element simply changes and becomes fire. Since she is emotionally upset when this occurs she has little knowledge on how to control this ability and as such has been known to basically erupt. Because these eruptions are as intense as her Raw emotions they have on very rare occaision damaged the restraining Collars but she always has them repaired or replaced understanding the need for the discipline they promote.
Relations: None really. Only a working relationship with the other luitenants. She considers them friends although doesnt outwardly show it and as such its unlikely they would think the same of her.
Other: Little is known about her past other than she is an orphan and that Leaf is not her real name. She was housed with multiple foster families but could never seem to settle and was always brought back to the Orphanage. The woman responsible for her there always used to say "You keep coming back like a Leaf on the wind" and would occaisionally refer to her as 'Her little Leaf' and so when her papers were lost during her enrolment after coming of age she simply identified herself as Leaf. As such she is the only one with any knowledge of her past or even her real name.

    -----

New year, same old routine i sighed inwardly as i received my latest class of freshmen. They filed into the classroom peacefully enough, casual chatter from some, others were much more of the loner variety. Either through choice or simple fear of strange situations. Either way i would change that. As cliched as it was it was often the loner sitting in a corner at the back of the class with a thundercloud over their head that turned out to be the difficult ones. It only gets more difficult when dealing with a class of students with powers.

"Settle down" i said softly but sternly as i stood to take the attendance, reading down the list. Besides the late arrival it went smoothly enough, as you would expect for a simple register.

As the late student sat down the previously silent class filled with the sound of a whoopee cushion followed by a ripple of laughter. "There it is" i whispered to myself. First class rarely went by without one prank. I knew it wasnt his fault and i would find the culprit later but i asked him to stay after class regardless. Show weakness on the first day and they take advantage every time.

Just as i was about to begin the door opened again, with the register complete i knew it wasnt a student so resisted the urge to show my displeasure as Todou Aiko, the Hana teacher, walked in to find and introduce herself to her new students. It want a nessecary visit, most teachers happy to wait for their own lessons but Aiko always insisted on it.

"Ok then Miss Todou" i said once she had finished her little self introduction. "Ill be sure to send them on to your class once ive finished with mine". She nodded and smiled before turning to leave. I returend to my desk and sat down ready to start but jumped up quickly with a yelp as something sharp jabbed me in the rear. Turning to see a thorn on my chair i growled a curse for Aiko under my breath but caught myself as i noticed a number of the crowd giggling.

They silenced quickly as i glared at them, my power causing a tangible static atmosphere, the Hair on the heads of longer haired students rose slightly with the charged air and small blue sparks quickly flashed through my own. Reckless displays of power and intimidation were a waste of energy, but the occaisional dramatic outburst could serve a purpose, as it had here. I calmed myself enough to sit behind my desk, remembering to brush the thorn aside and addressed the class.

"My name is Leaf, for the purposes of this class you will address me as Miss or Teacher, whichever you prefer. As you may have gathered from our last interruption you will soon be splitting off into your racial groups to receive specialist teaching related to your abilities. They may or may not have manifested themselves yet but with the teaching you receive here you will soon learn about your abilities and maybe something about yourselves. More importantly you will also learn to use these abilities safely and responsibly. I will be taking a number of the Ryuu students myself but for now this, the group of students you are with here, is your 'class' during general studies. I advise you get to know each other. A number of the classes, my own included will feature a number of group assignments where your cooperation and interaction may be the key to everyone passing, or indeed failing."

A number started to look at the faces around them. Some were beaming happy faces that seemed excited at the prospect, others looked around with worry that their success may rely on others and a few seemed to be looking at other students with an air of rivalry.

"Any questions at this point?" i asked.

    Name: Konata Amaya
    Gender: Female
    Age: 21
    Race: Kage
Appearance: Tall, slender, yet with lean and defined muscles, Amaya is every bit the warrior. There is a strong feminine grace about her, but don't let it fool you; she can still kick your ass. Long black hair with blue tint falls past her waist, though she often braids it for training. Her eyes are the color of dark chocolate, and betray little of her emotions. Her nose is pierced on the right side, and both ear lobes are pierced three times. A tattoo of white calla lilies flows down the right side of her back, and black roses mirror on the left.
Personality: With her students, she's a bit of a hard ass; no slacking off is allowed on her shift. However, behind the tough persona is a woman who loves to live and laugh, though it's a side of her that's rarely seen. Only those truly close to her ever see it.
Specialty: Speed and use of quarterstaff. She likes to show off her talent with flamboyant performances.
    Relations: None yet.
    Other: None.

    Amaya
"You can't hide, but you're laughing it up"

"You should be ashamed of yourselves. I expect to hear no more about 'newbies' or the like from any of you, or I'll be sure to make you regret your actions. Now, move, you have classes to attend." I resisted the urge to use stronger words; it would be inappropriate, yet it was so tempting. To have seen such a display disgusted me, though I was grateful that I had passed by at the right time, before things got really nasty.

I could remember my own change, waiting anxiously to see what color my eyes would be, to see which god would lay claim to my life. Unlike most, I hadn't really had a preference; each one held something that appealed to me. As I grew older, and my power developed, I came to appreciate Lady Kagetsubasa and her gifts to me more and more. I was proud to be Kage.

I swept though the halls one last time to get the stragglers to their classes, which never earned me any brownie points with the students. I wasn't exactly popular with most, anyway, not even among the Kage students, who I pushed harder than any others, especially during training. With nothing better to do, I headed back to my classroom to wait for the wave of new students that was to come for the next class period.

Sorry it's short, I wanted to get a post in, but I've been having a terrible week... Little to no inspiration going on here.

    Daichi Wamiyazen
    “ZzzzZzzzz…” ~Daichi Wamiyazen
    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Daichi sat through the rest of the morning class. Trying to put his current state of affairs behind him. He was kicked, threatened, late for class, and was still the butt of a line of practical jokes. And this was only the first day!

But still, it could have been worse, a lot worse as Daichi thought about it, proceeding on with his lesson. Leaf-Sensei seemed to have a short temper, and he considered himself already on her shit-list for seeing him right after the first day of lessons. It wasn’t his fault, really, much of it anyway. Well, he could have watched where he was sitting.

Way to make a first impression.

The Ryuu let out a sigh as he tried to concentrate on the academics in front of him. History was a small part of the academia, right there with math, reading, English, and a few other subjects necessary for the world after school. Then there were the classes for the different races, each focusing on the different capabilities each would receive come a few days time.

What would re receive? He did take after his mother in some of his looks. The dark hair and thin frame. Although his personality matched his father more, being a bit laid back, quiet and the constant thinking. His mother was the Ryuu, strong in the elements of the earth. She had been offered the promotion to General, but declined the offer to stay with her husband and Daichi months after he was born. His father was a renowned Tsuki back home, being his home town’s advisee on matters concerning advancement and the welfare of the populace.

    “Daichi… DAICHI!” Leaf bellowed.

“I! GAH?! WHa?! Yes Sensei?” he responded, confused as his mind had wandered off on a tangent.

Leaf-sensei let out a sigh. “Please read the third paragraph on page 3.”

“H-Hai,” he responded, standing and began reciting from the book as the giggling died down.

It was almost nostalgic. This feeling of reciting sections in class, just like. It was hard to think that just a while ago he was a year younger, considering what race he would be, and the fuss when his eyes did change color. The pride in his mom’s eyes, the joy in his father’s. The combination of happiness and jealousy from his peers when he was accepted to this academy above others that he could have attended. But this feeling, of being in school, the same season, the same lessons, the same academics weighed in on him, and he could recognize that feeling that he had felt only a few times before.

He finished reading the passage as Leaf-sensei selected another student. Nothing in his chair this time, he checked before sitting down. It was a few more short introductory lessons before the bell rang, signaling the end of the academic session of classes. Daichi started getting his things together, remembering he had to stay. He wasn’t sure of the other Ryuu in the class, he never really saw any of them when he arrived late, and didn’t even know of any other race sitting around him either. Oh well, guess he’d find out later.

The class exited, leaving him sitting there as Leaf-Sensei checked a notebook, flipping through it for a few minutes. It was silent for those minutes aside from the sound of Leaf flipping through the pages scribbling something down, then flipping through other pages. Either writing down notes, or grades Daichi didn’t know, so he sat there and waited for the chewing out, or some kind of acknowledgement.

How would it go? A straight yelling? A stern talking-to? An electric bolt to keep him in line? Extra homework?!

“Daichi,” she said after a while, snapping the younger Ryuu out of his spiraling imagination.

    “Ha-Hai Sensei?”

    * Aki Kagami *

I was still walking with a limp by the time I made it to my next class, it wasn’t so much fun to be the actual butt of some one’s practical joke, especially when it is a thumb tack in the seat. Then again these type of things were not something I just forgot, oh no, it was only encouragement for me to unleash my true fury upon who ever dare put the tack in my chair.

“Oh Aki, good I did want to see you before class.” The teacher, Todou Aiko I believe her name was said as I stepped into her classroom. The room was still completely devoid of students, seeing how the bell had just rung and most of them were still searching the school for their classes or meeting fellow classmates. “I took the time to look up your previous record.”

Yeah this wasn’t going to end well. “Any particular reason?” I asked, my eyes already half shut in boredom as I leaned against the doorway, my elbow balanced against it with my hand supporting my head.

“Well I usually take the initiative to check up on all my students, I did find out that you were a very bright student when you were younger.” She glanced down at a print out as I shifted my weight around, preparing to leave. Mentally I was already checking this teacher off as some one to skip. “You also have let your grades slip in the previous few years, lack of drive I assume?”

“Yeah, I just got bored.” I shrugged my shoulders, pivoting around my right foot as I turned to walk out.

“Your desk is in the other direction Aki, this isn’t a school in which you want to just skip your classes.” There was something in her voice; it actually made me want to sit down for a moment, something that told me to obey her.

“I’m not some one that follows directions..” I took a few steps, repositioned something against my hip. I could see the reflection of her against the glass window across the hall. A brief smirk arose on my face as I moved my elbow just a bit to show the muzzle of the paintball gun, it was painted to blend in with my clothing well enough that she would never have seen it.

And with out saying a single word, I fired.

    ~~ Hikari Meoru ~~

The footsteps echoed down the brightly lit alleyway, as many a person went among their duties for the day. A young women, decided to take a shortcut down an alley-over to a store that could be seen even from the opposing street. It was well lit enough, late morning-so she felt no danger could come of it. Affixing her purse so it hung a lil' looser, she strode on.

On her way through the alley, she noticed a pair of legs sticking out from behind a dumpster. Hazel brown eyes would peer around the dumpster, to fall upon a child, huddled under a blanket. The child's eyes were hidden, and he-she really could not tell the gender-looked skittish at her arrival.

"Hey, are you alright?" She reached out, keeping her hand far enough away so the child would have to shift. But, she only received silence from the child. There was movement, but the child shifted its head to stare at her with beady eyes. At first they seemed cold-bluish in tone, but there was a hint of something else, something darker..

"Come on, you can trust me!" She knelt down, pulling her skirt over her knees while keeping her arm extended. The purse strap slid down her arm, and she removed it, setting it on the ground beside her. The form under the blanket shook its head in refusal, and curled up closer-scraping his toes against the concrete. The visible toenails were split and cut-evidence this child had not had any home care for a while. The girl stood back up, obviously at a loss at what to do. She looked down both sides of the alley, and noticed a lanky person happening to walk by.

"Hey-hey sir" She ran toward the male, noticing his long hair tied backwards, and slowed her approach. Something felt strange about this man, but she ignored it. Thinking it was merely time to eat, she pointed behind her. "There's a child here, can I ask for your assistance?"

The man nodded, and followed after the female, making sure to keep his glasses covered over his eyes. When they reached the dumpster, she turned to introduce the male. The child hissed at the sight of the male and jumped up out of the cover, hissing and clawing at the wall, trying to get up and into the dumpster. The woman-shocked at the behavior-turned to the male only to see that no one was behind her. She looked down both sides of the alley, but no one was there. Turning back to the dumpster, the child was nowhere to be seen!

She ran over to the dumpster, and flipped the hatch open, but the child was not inside. She didn't have to look hard, because the dumpster was empty. Kneeling down, she peered under it, but there was no sign of the boy. Perplexed, she turned to grab her purse-only to find it completely missing as well. Baffled and still feeling woosy, she leaned against the wall. her day completly ruined.

    =====

"There's enough money to last a few days huh Hik?" The little boy said, his eyes gleaming bright purple. Smiling, he looked as the older figure quickly counted up the cash, and stuff all but one bill into the boy's hands. Confused, the boy looked at the cash, and then the meager amount the man took. "Hik-you'll not even afford a meal with that?"

"Get cleaned up." It came out more like a whisper than an command. He just stood up and began walking away, leaving the boy to count his earnings by his lonesome. By the boy's side was the pair of sunglasses Hikari had been wearing, affixed to the side of the purse.

He watched as Hikari reached for the door handle, pulling at it hard. The door creaked as it was opened, a steel construction that served its purpose well of hindering access to all but teh storng willed. Exiting the area, the door slammed behind the enigma of a Chao-the sign on the door swinging on its one still sturdy screw. Idly the boy stared at the "Roof Access" sign, before looking back over the edge of the building. He could see the dumpster a few stories below, and the woman leaning on the opposing wall, apparently confused and sobbing for the moment. He could care less, as he moved away from the edge of the roof.

    *Sorry it took so long*

    Leaf
    -----

"Daichi" i snapped to get his attention.

    “Ha-Hai Sensei?” he replied nervously.

I simply sat there, considering the youngster. He was a Ryu and was to be under my tutelage this year. Ryu were generally considered in the offensive school of abilities though He was obviously not the confrontational type. Even after the outburst in class he had simply put his head down and ignored the situation. More worried about the punishment than any retribution on the culprit.
A good outlook to have. Petty things like reputation or base revenge were distractions and i had known many in my time that had made the wrong choices because of them, fooling themselves into beleiving one thing while forgetting whats really important.

"You had better or you will be late for your next class" i said finally. His face relaxed but kept the confused look. He had been expecting something, anything, a thousand disciplines and punishments running through his head but a simple dismissal it seemed was not one of them.

"My next class is with you Sensei" he replied without moving.

"So you think its ok to be late for my class?" i asked flatly, he stumbled over a reply but i cut him off. "Get going" i said firmly.

He jumped out of his chair as if shocked, nothing to do with me, but maybe for next time and headed for the door, apologising for the comment while trying to thank me for being lenient. Some might say i was a little harsh to worry the boy like this when it clearly wasnt his fault but it had already given me some insight into his charachter and it would be a good lesson for him to become more aware of where he is.

The problem i had now of course, is that to keep up the respect i had to beat him to the next class.....
