Default CSI: Miami Drabbles - Parenthood

I thought that i'd make a topic just for the CSI:Miami drabbles that i've written lately as well as any that i might write in the future. This way its easier to keep track of them. As usual, I don't own any of the recognizable characters nor am i making any money from them.

Here is the first one I have called Trust. I wrote it after watching a rerun of the episode Burned.

Trust was a fickle thing. To many people, it was a simple word that they just threw around every single day without giving it much thought. Trust was something that sometimes was given freely, other times it was hard won. It was something that could easily be broken. Once broken, trust was increasingly difficult to regain.

Still, regaining trust wasn’t exactly impossible. Natalia was proof of that. She had been the FBI mole sent to spy on the lab and now was part of the team. Ryan was determined to regain that trust once more, even if it killed him.

Interesting idea - reflecting on a concept through the medium of a particular episode of a TV show. It sounds quite disillusioned, though I have to say, it's a lot shorter than what we'd usually allow as an intro to a fic. Then again, as the idea of this is to be a collection of 'drabbles', perhaps it'll work fine if the pieces are short. I'll discuss it with the other mods and see what the consensus is.

Good to see you around again in Fanfic, though! Are you back for good, do you think?

Yay! It's good to see you back!

I understand its a drabble; but it was a bit short. Which is sad. I would've liked to see it drawn out more. I think it is possible to draw it out more and still keep up the tone of the work. Perhaps in the future? I enjoyed reading it; even if I don't watch CSI at all.

Yes, I'm back for good. ^^

Glad you both liked it. I've been dealing with a severe case of writer's blocks and lately all i've gotten done is a couple of drabbles. I am working on a much longer fic (192 pages already) and i got a prequel of sorts written already that i'm planning on posting soon.

Writer's block shits me to tears. Glad to see you've found a way to give the block the proverbial finger. I do a similar thing with my poetry or lyrics - it's an easy way to express myself and keep being creative without letting any form of writer's block get in the way.

What's the new fic about? Fanfic or original?

... and your name's Amy, right? I was about to call you that but I thought I should check just in case I made a total fool of myself.

EDIT: Spoke to the other mods, we're all happy to keep this thread. Just lettin ya know.

That story that i'm working on is fanfic, CSI:Miami. The story idea was inspired by the Rascal Flatts song Skin (Sarah Beth). Yep, my name is Amy.

Here's the next one that i have called Perceptions. It is part of my Skin Au, but it could also be classified as general as well.

Not many people knew the real Rick Stetler. They only saw what they wanted to see which was just fine with him. Not a single person took the time to look past the asshole persona that he presented to the rest of the world. He had developed it as a defense mechanism. If they had, the results would have surprised them. Rick had self-esteem issues which rendered him vulnerable. He was easily hurt by those who got close. It was the main reason why he chose to go into internal affairs. Rick felt it would keep anyone from getting close.

Here's the next one. I haven't posted this one anywhere else yet. It's called Parenthood.

Parenthood, it was something that Horatio had dreamed about but never thought would happen. The closest he came was with Marisol, but it wasn’t meant to be.
“Oh my God, the suspect, he’s your son.” Valera’s voice cut into Horatio’s train of thought. He stared at the sheet of paper that she handed him and there it was “Familial Match”.
Well, his dream came true but with a twist that even he couldn’t have fathomed. His son, Kyle, was the prime suspect in their homicide investigation and he had missed out on most of his kid’s life. That would change.
