….

Selene
Noose around a choking heart
Eternity torn apart
So toll now the funeral bells
Bye Bye Beautiful

So this was getting bit ridiculous, falling, water, getting up, helping others. Their lives had been in constant danger and others were beginning to lag behind. As the shadow of the boulder began to loom there was a blur of a large rock and everyone jumped, ran or otherwise tried to get out of the way. Selene yelped, the floor shifted, it was like being on some sort of teeter-totter, the weight of the boulder causing the once level floor to become a very steep hill very fast.

Selene scrambled and leapt, grasping one of the raised floor pieces. Her wrist greatly protested to this, but she swung herself up. She sat there, and dared to look down into the dark depths of the newly formed cliff side. In the darkness, two things lit up, fire blazed from them and the gunner gulped as they seemed to burn into her like she was staring at the devil himself.

“Alright…” She mumbled, “It has eyes…” She grabbed into another and climbed up higher. “Burning, evil eyes… But eyes…”

The woman glanced over and blinked. Adair, there he was, clinging to the normal tile, spikes on the toe of his shoes dug deep into the crevices between each one. Selene stared for another second before jumping and grabbing hold of another ledge. She was going to put as much distance between her and that boulder with eyes as she could.

That was probably everyone’s intention, but she and Adair were doing the best. That was until the drunk, who was a little ahead of her, slipped. He let out a sudden yelp and flapped his arms as if trying to fly (or keep his balance) before tumbling down. Selene did a long jump to another set of raised tiles and turned it into a desperate, hand out-stretched belly-flop. She slammed into the ground hard, slid a little and her hand clasped shut.

On Adair’s sleeve.

The man, who was panting heavily looked up and saw that Selene’s body was laying half on the ledge, her other arm was desperately clinging to a crevice between the tiles and looked as if she was having one hell of a time staying where she was.

“Lassy I never knew you cared!”

“I…” She groaned, slowly lifting him up so he could grasp the ledge. “D-don’t…”

“This is evidence otherwise- WAH!”

She twisted her body around and flung him onto the ledge. Adair looked curiously at the gunner who was already trying to make it higher.

“We need a pilot.” She replied.

“Ah, yes, good point. Well, it’s splendid to know my grand title will keep me alive!”

As he said that, the entire cliff-face shuttered and groaned, and suddenly the steep drop was becoming more practical.

“Oh, I… Suppose I spoke too soon.”

“Run!” Selene ordered, and as the ground became once again possible to tread the group was off to the races again, the hillside soon enough turning flat.

“What are we running on?!” Shayna gasped, obviously growing tired of this.

“A… Teeter-totter… Dearest!” Adair replied, taking off, running as fast as before, with Selene moving just as fast beside him.

Selene sprung, clearing a row of raised tile as Adair nimbly dodged one.

Then the two leaders were forced to glance at each other with a very concerned expression..

“That’s… not…”

“Oh… Yes… it is…” He replied, paling a little.

“No…” Selene gulped.

“Bugger.” They said in unison.

Swinging from side to side, glinting in the light barely cast from the walls, were axes.

They glanced at each other again as the even ground began to turn into a hill they had to run down.

“Good luck.”

“Same to you deary~”
