I caught the ellie reference (she was in Jughead yes?) but never put it together that she was Eloise Hawking. Why does she help Ben, if she grew up on the island with Widmore? Hmm. Yea it was a good episode; nice to know Kate's motives for returning to the Island. I just hope she actually tries looking for Claire! I guess everyone has assumed she's dead??

YAAAAAY BEN'S NOT DED!! : DD I had such horrible premonitions all the way through that damn episode. PHEW! Especially the bit where he went as if to kill Penny and then shot Des! If he'd actually gone through with it, I think he'd have bumped himself right off my fave character list for sure. No-one hurts my Des! NO-ONE!!

That was a fecking awesome episode. Especially loved the smoke monster temple. That was sweet.

Aw why is there so much Penny hate! I don't really find her annoying, and Desmond loves her, and after watching him suffer knowing he'd never see her again, I don't want to see what would happen if she died in the hands of Ben. I guess it could start some new drama...lol

It was that he shot him. I think the trick was when he said that we were supposed to assume he killed Penny, and then later in that scene we expect him to, but something else happens instead. That is, something else that fits into the "tell Desmond I'm sorry".

Anyway... looks like we have a Miles centric episode this week. I look forward to it, this would be his first one.

I hope the make one for Frank LaPenis (sorry, couldn't resist, don't lie, don't even try to deny that's what you hear every time Jack or Ben say his name) soon.

Wow. Epic episode! Charles Widmore's legacy of 'The Others' is very interesting. Who are they? Ethan was already among them, so had he been taken from The D.I or was this the left over people in the D.I?

Desmond showed his scottish roots by beating Ben senseless shortly after being shot. I think Ben felt heartless shooting Penny, as he did with Rousseu. I wonder what The Whispers are exactly? I loved his threat.

The Temple was amazing, Ben's full judgement by the Monster was intense, and I was in awe of his expirience. Alex's manifestation was seemingly The Island's way of ensuring Ben took the words seriously; Alex is the one person he loved.

Locke is amazing. You know when I saw him in last season's finale, I thought wow, Locke's leaving? How could I be so stupid. His ressurection is powerful, and a real testement to his character. He seems so wise.

Also did anybody notice Jack last episode, how he's suddenly become a man of faith? Brilliant.

Can't wait for a Miles epi. Love that guy.

My problem is more with the actress than the character. She just bugs me in everything she's in.

Miles Strahm just jumped up a lot of notches on my favorite character list.

Tonight's episode seemed pretty old school, it feels like they stopped doing character centric episodes since season 4 and it was like "okay, we know everyone now, let's move the story forward". Was nice to see one after a while. Miles really deserved that, and the long running rumor/theory about who Miles' dad is has been confirmed!

Also, Hurley was priceless in this. It's funny, about around the beginning of this season when they were in 77 I remember a lot of fans making jokes about "they're gonna go to the premier of Star Wars". Well what do you know, someone alluded to it.
I also remember thinking "Back to the Future" when Sayid shot Ben, and then Hurley mentions it a week later. Hurley is awesome for thinking like the audience.

That'd be half-sister, wouldn't it? Since Widmore had Penny with someone off the island, which was why he had to leave in the first place.

(Spoiler:) I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY KILLED OFF DANIEL. ARRRRRGGGGHHHHH. *sobs into pillow* ALWAYS MY FAVOURITE CHARACTERS. ALWAYS. Weas is not happy. No siree. His theory about variables totally made sense too. I could see that being the actual ending... oh man. Lost, you've let me down as much as House has.

You can say his theory about variables makes sense, but I think his death proves his originally theory of whatever happens already happened.

Also if he sets off the bomb leading to the plane not crashing and everyone winding up in LA just fine means that the events that lead up to the bomb being set off could never happen. Then the bomb wouldn't go off so the plane would still crash. Setting things up in a loop. That's why I like the constant theory.

I don't understand why he wants to prevent the crash, all the losties that are still living have better lives because of the island for the most part. If he is doing it to save little miss red head, it dosn't matter cause he will never meet her.

They said a major charecter would die this season, I wouldnt be so sure it is (Spoiler:) daniel , thats what everyone expeacts it to be. It would be just like lost to kill somone else off.

Now how mind blowing would that be. I've always wondered what that guy's deal is.

About the variable thing, sure it's interesting, but he could easily have it all wrong.

I have a friend who just stared watching the first season of lost, this reminds me just how much lost has changed from season to season.

but overall it was a good episode and I can't believe its almost the season finale!

Actually it did. It told us he has no damn clue about what's going on, and doesn't know any more than the main Losties.

Yeah, so much for a Richard centric. I guess they weren't really lying though, if I were one of the writers and someone asked who the central character would be in "Follow the Leader", Richard would probably be the closest answer.

It was good. But the 1977 plotline was a bit vanilla. I mean to say everything that Jack wanted to happen played out well enough. There were no twists with the story (Juliet getting dragged to her demise being an exception) and it just felt a bit boring.

Jack and Sawyer's fight was amazing. Sawyer was so passionate about it, so so determined, it was amazing. I hated how everyone just ended up going along with it though, you know? And Sawyer's change from "Theres nothing for me in the outside world/I want to go back to the outside world this island sucks" thing is a bit rubbish.

Can we assume Jacob's enemy is the one who has 'become' Locke? The foray into supernatural powers (appearence alternation, and Jacob's seeming hand in the healing process) is unsettling since I can't see how they would explain it. Either way, I think this entity also was Yemi, Claire, Alex etc and MAYBE the smoke monster. In the temple, there was a picture of an egyptian god (Anubis?) VS the smoke monster. It reminds me of the four-toed statue VS this enemy of Jacobs.

While its very thought-provoking.....I dunno. It ignored the storyline with Ilana etc quite a lot (in the entire series, really; they could at least give us more on that story before the last series). As a season, 5 was absolutely amazing though.

Too lazy to discuss it right now but I found the questions they answered to be rather interesting. Also found it entertaining and well worth a watch, those guys are so funny. Same with the Jorge Garcia/Michael Emerson skit.
