ROUND ONE
Round one begins triumphantly as both trainers toss their poke balls high into the air. A ring of chanting bystanders envelops the trainers and their pokemon, eagerly watching the pokemon battle unfold. Emerging from the first poke ball is Kusanagi, the duskull. She squeals softly as her opponent, a yet-to-be-named bronzor, emerges from his own poke ball. The attacks are called out, and both pokemon ready themselves. Kusanagi waits patiently for Bronzor to carefully shield himself with a protective veil (-6% Bronzor); as it fully erects, she darts over, stealing away the energy from the Safeguard, and surrounding it around herself instead (-8% Kusanagi -- Safeguard).

Kusanagi snickers before preparing her next attack... attack? She's uncertain. She searches through her memory banks for the attack, but it would appear as if she doesn't even know how to use the attack in question. Meanwhile, Bronzor takes an opportunity to ease her to sleep with his soothing, hypnotizing eyes. But even the smoothest date rapist in the world couldn't get around that safeguard (-4% Bronzor).

After an embarressing second act, Kusanagi snaps her fingers for an attack she can actually use -- Will-o-Wisp. The small, circular wisp sails through the air, crashing into Bronzor slightly, giving him a nasty burn (-6% Kusanagi; BRN Bronzor). Bronzor absorbs the hit before spitting out an acidic burst of poisons from his coin-like exterior. But the toxins merely splash against the safeguard before sliding to the arena floor (-6% Bronzor; -1% Bronzor).

ROUND TWO
The second round kicks in as Kusanagi begins throwing up obnoxious gang sings to the unemotional bronzor (-2% Kusanagi). But these particular gang signs just so happen to be of a peculiar breed of red bronzor that just so happen to always talk jive to the blue bronzors mama, and Bronzor is just not having that, no-no. The blue bronzor in question charges up a special ghostly attack, powered by anger and loyalty to his mama. A few seconds pass, and Bronzor heaves it over to the ghost pokemon, who is now regretting ever waving at his foe with intentions of friendship. CRASH!, the shadow ball collides with the ghost-pokemon easily, causing a fair bit of damage (-10% Kusanagi; -7% Bronzor; -1% Bronzor).

Realizing that the Duskull word for 'friend' is actually the Bronzor word for 'yo mama smells!', Kusanagi mentally slaps himself before staring into the eyes of his foe, hoping to cause said foe to forget. But he stares and he stares, and only gives himself a headache as Bronzor lobs another hate-powered shadow ball his way (-10% Kusanagi; -7% Bronzor; -1% Bronzor).

Without knowing how to actually use hypnosis, Kusanagi merely slumps down to recollect lost energy (+10% Kusanagi), while simultaneously being attacked by a third, and final, shadow ball (-10% Kusanagi; -7% Bronzor; -1% Bronzor). Bronzor, meanwhile having satisfied his anger, calms down.

ROUND THREE
Kusanagi, having feeling slightly embarressed for the way things turned out the previous round, pulls out a small nail out of empty space and proceeds to stab herself in the torso (-20% Kusanagi; -15% Kusanagi; CUR Bronzor). The painful stab causes a cursing effect to haunt the bronzor. A chill rolls down Bronzor's back as he erects a veil of protection (-6% Bronzor -- SAF). But his mind is still haunted (-1% Bronzor; -4% Bronzor).

Kusanagi locks eyes with Bronzor, sending another shiver down his back as she locks his mind (-6% Kusanagi; TOR Bronzor). Without realizing it, Bronzor has been mentally blocked; he lobs off another quick shadow ball which collides with the ghost pokemon quite easily (-10% Kusanagi; -7% Kusanagi; -1% Bronzor; -4% Bronzor).

Kusanagi then finally closes her eyes and tries to get some much-needed shut-eye; with her eyes slammed shut, her health and energy slowly rephlenish (+20% Kusanagi; +20% Kusanagi -- SLP). Meanwhile, Brozor attempts to fire off another shadow ball, but fails due to his torment (-1% Bronzor; -4% Bronzor).

ROUND FOUR
As Kusanagi continues napping, her mind becomes haunted by a traumatizing endeavor: a ginormous houndoom eating away at her consciousness. She tries to run away, but the nightmare continues to haunt her as her lifeforce becomes sapped away (-7% Kusanagi; +4% Bronzor; -7% Bronzor). Kusanagi shivers for a moment before subconsciously glaring at her foe -- Bronzor quakes with sudden fear (-DEF Bronzor; -4% Bronzor; -1% Bronzor).

Bronzor cups his hands together and shoots off another wobbly shadow ball that connects with the ghost pokemon for heavy damage (-10% Kusanagi; -7% Bronzor). She retalliates, once again while sleeping, by attacking his nerves. Bronzor becomes very nervous -- his energy will deplete much more quickly than usual (-4% Bronzor; -1% Bronzor).

Bronzor saps at Kusanagi's lifeforce once again, feeling slightly weaker after doing so (-7% Kusanagi; +4% Bronzor; -9% Bronzor). Kusanagi, meanwhile, just focuses on the bronze pokemon, keeping her sights on him despite her not being awake even (-EVA Kusanagi; -4% Bronzor; -1% Bronzor). Kusanagi continues to feel refreshed (+20% Kusanagi; +20% Kusanagi).

Kusanagi snaps her fingers in her sleep, and suddenly the clouds couple together. In an instant, several beads of water rain down from above without remorse. Bronzor just relaxes for a few moments, regaining lost energy (+10% Bronzor; -4% Bronzor; -1% Bronzor). Feeling energized, Bronzor flings off another shadow ball (-7% Bronzor; -4% Bronzor; -1% Bronzor) that wobbles in the air for a few seconds before crashing into Kusanagi's well-timed protective barrier.

Bronzor slumps down and relaxes for another bit (+10% Bronzor; -4% Bronzor; -1% Bronzor), while the duskull shines a bright white. She tackles the bronze coin pokemon harshly, causing heavy damage (-11% Bronzor). The added sleep gave more power to her facade, but she awakens (+20% Kusanagi) as her safeguard shatters and Bronzor no longer feels tormented.

Hrm, that's a good point. You can't Thrash Confuse yourself, but you can use Rest. That's wonky, really. I guess for now we can say that beneficial stat effects (rest) that are self inflicted can by pass Safeguard, and hindrances cant.
