Pokemon Colosseum: the way to get the old Pokemon? (hint from Corocoro)
lol as if pokemon of all games would be unplayable on a 56k modem!
If a 56k connection can handle games like Everquest, Age of Mythology, PSO, etc etc. Im pretty sure it can handle a turn based game with a small data transfer rate

Pokemon Colosseum: the way to get the old Pokemon? (hint from Corocoro)
why is that pikachu with a cash sign painted on it mooing?......
sure graphics don't make a game, but call me unorthadox if ya' like but i like a pretty game once in a while...
fact is we know ninty won't improve the graphics and why??? because that takes time and money, they've haven't done anything with the old pokes except make um 'shiny'. and the poly count on the new pokes is so low the n64 would laugh at um. This game could easily be a gorgous piece of art, but time is money apparantly.....
And as for online?......unlikely, no mention of it so far and ninty have already stated their 'unwillingness' to commit to online plans....and as for those saying an online game would be slow? bull....its a turn-based game, if the dreamcast could manage quake as well as it did, the cube should be able to manage this...
and while i'm having a fliddy i might as well moan about the box game...though it is in no way a game....why does it even exsist?!?!, this should be part of collisium, and be honest anyone who denys that is a out an' out fanboy.....just more ways of making money......
lets face it, nintendo is milking pokemon dry and its not fair on fans, collisium is obviously being developed as qiuckly as possible with few new ideas as evident by the graphics while box is a bad joke...
ya' know it makes me think of microsoft and how people moan about how they don't care about the games and only the money...which probabley is true...BUT at least they put the time and money into their games to make um as best as they can be......and make more money

does anyone remember the pokemon demo that was released when the gamecube was still in development, the graphics on there looked great and i don't see why they can't just use similar character models as the ones in that demo. i think this is why i'm so annoyed about the graphics, i've seen amazingly superior graphics WHICH ARE TWO YEARS OLD!!!!!

Prince
My friends have a normal internet connection and they play games online like Phantasy Star Online. So, what the big deal with the high speed internet?

most of the newer online games requires you to have a high-speed connection.

If they put pokemon online, it will probably be on broadband, but knowing nintendo, odds are the game won't be online.
Here's the real question we should be asking, can we get all the unobtainable pokemon from Ruby and Sapphire in Coliseum?
if not I'm going to be a very pissed off trainer.

I wouldn't say all ... but I think they'd be incredibly stupid not to at least put some in as rewards. Surely they will ...

ok people
ONLINE BATTLING IS VERY FAST INDEED
if you ever played on Netbattle or gsbot, you would know that pokemon online battling is usually a very streamlined process becuase the actual program responsible for calculations is on your computer, not in a distant cyber plane which must be contacted
the only thing sent via the net is what action the players have taken, and since its turn based, one action, one turn, very simple
netbattle and gsbot servers run off of mere PCs and do the job well, im pretty sure nintendo will be using task specific servers, making it almost instantaneous
for instance opposing player uses absorb attack, his gamecube would send a variable, that is a number such as one, to the other gamecube via the net. The other gamecube receives the number 1 and recognizes that it corresponds with absorb, so it makes the pokemon on that gamecube, representing the opposition, use absorb
you dont even need to send a damage variable back as long as both gamecubes are consistent with their calculations
of course, random occurences would need to be synchronized, so there would have to be tags on variables for things like metronome, critical hits, etc.
and for now dont get your hopes up , is their any proof of online battling capability?
and yes, i really hope they fix the graphics
as for the physical contact attacks
this is very simple, and as someone said, has been accomplished many times in games such as final fantasy, which are turn based...
basically both "polygon masses" interact with each other and have a resulting impact blow animation, not that hard
for things like wailord vs caterpie its even simpler
their can be three ways to do the the attack
high
middle
low
for instance, if medicham uses jump kick on wailord, then the computer will register that since medicham is using jump kick on such a huge opponent it would assign the "high" sequence for the attack. The result would be medicham pouncing off the ground. If it was facing pikachu, the computer would recognize species number corresponding to "pikachu" to be "low" and have a high jump kick thats closer to the ground
and since this is gamecube.... they should definitely have enough capability to do such

If they put some pokemon in Coliseum, but not all, I will still be pissed off Hyperworm. The point of pokemon is to catchALL pokemon, all 386 of them.
If they are all not available, then they need to create a third version with all the pokemon, or an RPG for GameCube with all of them, or some other way. Pokemon is not pokemon until we have the chance to catch them all!
