It's not really conflicting if you think about it. In Zelda you normally spend a lot of time hacking away randomly with your sword. It could get really tiring doing precision slicing and dicing with Motion Plus. So it could mean less of an emphasis on swordplay compared to earlier games in the series. Also another theory I was thinking is maybe it will be like the gameboy games where you can choose to not have a sword equipted. And then finally it's just one piece on concept art it could very well mean nothing.
