Years ago, I pushed for a couple forums to be added, namely "TV & Entertainment", and "Magic: The Gathering". Turns out, at the time of my discussions with LP concerning the plausibility of such boards becoming real, there was enough call for each to be added, and so they were. I was really annoyed that darkyouth received the modship over the MTG board over me. Actually, I think at one point I was downright pissed.

Also, when WPM was appointed moderator, I was pretty well fuming. Understandable.

Biggest confession, at least to those who were there (Zak, pay attention): The infamous quote in ummmm "It's really hot here but I have my two biggest fans blowing me"... Well, it was intentionally written that way because I knew it would be quoted.

Okay enough of this tripe.

I thought it was Alec Trevlyan's modship you were annoyed about. Hah I even remember you saying that WPM deserved it if not you instead. But that was before WPM had been modded or posted outside of TCG or was in anyone's radar or revealed his true personality, so that's fine.

I believe that the nosedive of TPM is directly the fault of her anti-spam obsession.
1 line posts can be fine. series of 1 line posts from multiple people can be fine. they're faster to read than camping out at your desk for 6 hours to read huge TRO-posts, and are easier on the eyes/brain when you have a bunch of people to hear from in a small amount of time. They're similar to *gasp* conversations! For example, if I talked as long as this post in face-to-face conversation I would have absolutely no friends.

Know what some forums do if there's a shit thread? They post 1 liners joking around having a good time, and the mods just watch until the jokes get stale before closing it. And it's FUNNY.

I forgot about Alec. I was more annoyed at darkyouth's position, I think. I may be wrong, though. Sometimes I forget old opinions.

I agree with you, but I'd say Ledian_X is more to blame for that, but that's not to say Gabi didn't help it. I agree about waiting for it to actually be not funny and mostly annoying.
But I mean, wouldn't you say this whole past year we've all been pretty lax about one-liners and going of topic? Hell, certain people would be banned or have gotten infractions if we were as strict here as you say. But I mean, you don't think TPM fits your description in that last statement now?

But yes, about a couple years ago there was that uber-strict anti spam obsession which most likely did bring the board down a bit. Some people don't understand the one liners, not always == spam. Spam = STUPID POINTLESS ANNOYING MESSAGES, and one-liners don't always fit all those qualities. Like if it was funny, it wouldn't be spam because it wouldn't be "annoying" or "pointless".

OMG Ledian_X don't remind us. He was a very strange being. Hell he is still a very strange being. He likes to think he's connected to everyone and is some important figure in the pokemon online community. When really all he did was to somehow get modded/admined at both Serebii and BMG and then got all upset because things didn't go his way. Talking to him was more annoying than watching paint go dry.

And Katie amen about the mods here going on and on and on about the rules 3 or 4 years ago. You can tackle spam, flames etc when the community is large enough to justify it. But people like Lady Vulpix, Ledian_X, BBP etc all wanted super strict rules at a time where yes the forum was busy but it wasn't as busy as it previously was. Meaning eventually you'll get a massive cut of discussion and just bullshit. Eventually people go elsewhere and or leave the internet community. That is when you want rules to be loosened up.

Whatever happened to the young naive OzAndrew that would go to the chat and be all shy and cute and want to be an important player in Fanfics. Or Shazza the young 12/13 year old, totally naive and rather pathetic but sweet. Who would play with his great Australian friends in the polls, clubs and games discussion.

Remember when big important admin modded very young World Collision? Those were the days.

It quite amazes me that some of the most pathetic young posters who were really quite pathetic are some of the best people that exist here these days. Very interesting times.

Honestly I don't remember time periods or people very well. That's just the kind of feeling I've had towards the general rules and warnings/bans/frowned upon behavior for quite some time. I literally cannot think of a single example of anything I talked about, it's just a vibe that has been in place for a long time. So it's probably not fair to pin it on her, I guess she's just the most prominent in my mind because she's still around.

Eh? When did I not let anyone talk about rules? The only thing I've ever been strict about was members attacking other members. Everything else are just rumors or things that were mistakenly attributed to me. I did not close the rules threads, and I've always welcomed feedback as long as it wasn't in the form of an insult.

I'm no L_V fan. I won't pretend to be excited about her being admined. But if she is active more than LP and Chris are but doesn't interfere with other things. To be honest, I don't really care. Certainly won't get, "OMG this admin is so fucking evil" like I did with PokeChamp and Little_Pikachu. I don't remember my reactions to either HG (Virtual Reality then Kurai) or Lugia007 (Kainashi). I think I just accepted them and they were certainly better than PC who was become unstrung and constantly high.

Don't worry, you'd be surprised how many people didn't get it, some of who were well into their 20's at the time. And it was Dark Gyarados, RAWRRRR!!!
