Do you remember what you were doing that day?

I was in class when I found out the news, I found it out only like 20-30 minutes after it actually happened. I even saw the towers fall live on TV. I was in my Civics class that day.

8th grade Social Studies class, all the sudden the principal made an announcement on the PA system not to do with school, but something about planes and buildings and everyone in class was like "WHAT?!"

Anyways, I was technically sleeping when it happened, because I'm 2 hours behind. I was in 10th grade, and normally never watch tv before going to school. So I get to school, and everyone is around the flagpole, crying, and then after we did the pledges a guy from my class prayed and said what happened. Then there were tvs on all day long with the news, and we really didn't do much of anything all day, except pray a lot I remember. Later that night my church had a special prayer meeting so we all prayed for awhile there too. It was pretty sad.

I remember. Being a New Yorker, I remember it better than most.

I was fortunately not in class, fortunately because Pace University, where I went to school at the time, was located only a few blocks from Ground Zero.

I was actually doing homework in my dorm room (the dorm was located in Brooklyn) and found out about it when my parents called to make sure I wasn't in danger. I saw what was happening soon after.

I remember it all too plain the hours that followed. I didn't leave Brookly, but the air had a smell of ash and brimstone in it which made me think of Hell, and the smoke and soot in the sky gave it a red tinge as afternoon turned to night. I had never been more scared in my life.

Oddly enough, I was also in my 8th grade social studies class when it happened. Someone came running by the room and said "Turn on CNN, a plane just hit the World Trade Center". Then there was a school-wide prayer. That was when prayer was still allowed in schools, in Pennsylvania.

I was in my grade 12 accounting class at the time of 9/11, I can't remember too much about the day, but I believe I first heard the news when my accounting teacher announced it, it definitely wasn't good to hear.

I was in my home at that time. It was really terrible after see in tv. I was really shock and can not think to much because i do not be live but its true.

When it was happening I was at the barber. They had a radio and they said that a plane had crashed into one of the towers. I figured that must be one stupid pilot, I actually thought it must have been a small two seated aircraft of sorts. One of the towers had already collapsed by the time I got home and learned what had really happened.

I still lived in the substitute family in Haapavesi. We had a class photographing that day. I had shaved bald and put a kimono-styled dress on for that. After getting back from school, I had some extra dish-washing work. Then the other boy in the family, 4 years younger than me, came to me running and said that the tallest buildings in the world were destroyed! After finishing the dish-washing, I went to watch TV and there it was. Finnish TV and I were both hooked and they had extra news was it every half an hour or something. I thought World War III would begin, but it didn't.

I was in my 12th grade Career and Life Planning class at the time. I remember the school going on lockdown (since we were close to the Pentagon), but those seniors with cars were permitted to leave. I left, but I heard later everyone else was kept at school til like 4. I just remember going home and watching them show the clip over and over and over again on the news, and every channel was the same.

In my senior year of high school, we were in an assembly. The senior class was meeting to vote on the class trip, stuff for the prom, etc. As we were leaving, the principal called us back in. I tried to pretend I didn't hear him and make a break for it, but I was stopped by a teacher outside and was told to go back in the auditorium. The principal told us about the attack, and then we went back to class where I watched it unfold on TV. I actually saw the second tower collapse live.

It's funny how I can remember so many details about it even after 8 years. Hard to believe it was that long ago.

More than likely because of the timing...TPM was at its prime, and we were all young so it was one of the major events in our short lives.

It was just before school on September 12, I was in my lounge room in front of the heater watching cartoons (Pay TV), when my friend came over to ask if we had heard of the news. I switched it over to free TV to see that all the channels were currently talking about two planes hitting the World Trade Center. I was like: "Holy Shit! That is crazy, dawg!"

Later on, I recall at school in my Indonesian class we discussed it rather than learning Indonesian. My Indonesian teacher was pretty awesome (I have him on Facebook - he likes to shate) to actually prompt discussion with a bunch of 12-13 year olds, interested in what their young minds had to say on the matter. We discussed why they occurred, who would be behind it and the significance of the attacks.

I was only in kindergarden, so I didn't know the magnitude of the event.

All I knew was that the TV was on when I got up and that a portable one was in the classroom.

Looking back, that may have been the best way to experiencee it

Didn't we have a thread just like this one last year? Anyway, I assume you're talking about 11/9/2001, so yes, I'd just got home from my yoga class when my dad phoned me and told me to turn on the TV.

As for the last 11/9, I spent most of the day going from a hospital to a car electrician's place a doctor's private working place to a pharmacy to the electrician's place again. And after that I had a birthday party. It was also teacher's day, but that didn't seem to matter much.
