Saw an HGSS trailer that had Gold interacting with his Tyranitar, and Tyranitar made a sort of :3 face. There was no way in hell I was not going to draw a Tyranitar with a :3-face after that.

That is incredibly kickass. I particularly like the tree in the background being visibly whipped about from the gathering power of the Energy Ball. I like the second pic too... but that Sceptile one is hard to beat.

Thanks for the comments, you guys. Yeah, I'm really proud of the Sceptile, too--I think it's one of the best pictures I've done in a long time.

Bit of a change in art style here, eh. Since Houndoom_Lover said she wanted to see some of my fakemon, and I have yet to spam TPM with them anyway...

You see, I like to create entire regions (yes, that is a plural you see there; I wasn't kidding when I had that signature that said I'd created over 440 fakemon). It's a pretty big hobby of mine, filling out regional Pokédexes, inventing gym leaders, working on stats and movesets... I won't bore you with most of the gory details, but I do have a helluvalot of pictures. :I And I'm not even halfway done with any of these regions yet. I'm not cruel enough to attack you with all seventy-odd completed pictures at once, though, so for now perhaps I'll just introduce you to a few final-stage starters?



This is Bossorna, the grass starter in the region of New Logora. It's Grass/Poison and is loosely based on bullthorn acacia trees, big ol' thorny trees that secrete hallucinogens for self-defense. There are reports of people so desperate for a trip that they'll actually find a Bossorna and goad it into attacking, hoping to get a nice, big shot of the drugs; of course, when on the business end of horns and thorns like those, they usually just end up gored. Ahaha. Druggies zero, hallucinogenic tree cows one.



Burungin, a straight Fire-type based on African werehyena legends. The name even comes from the Bornu word bultungin, which means "I change myself into a hyena". It doesn't actually transform, but its control over fire is so great that it can alter its appearance by cloaking itself in flames.



Osgrave here is one of my favorites. (I even got it and its previous stages approved for use in another ASB league, lol.) It's a Water/Flying osprey... gryphon... thing. Yes. They can fly and swim equally well and so are very popular Pokémon with explorers. And they're just badass.



So now we step away from New Logora and enter Faelan, a region which, for the hell of it, I am filling with nothing but mythological-fantastical-type creatures. Like mandrakes, for example. Yes, that's right, Mandragoon (Grass/Flying) is a mandrake. In my humble opinion the things have too much "man" in them and nowhere near enough "drake", so I fixed that. They bury their root tails in the ground when at rest. If you bother one, though, it's got a scream that'll make your brain melt out of your eardrums, and then it'll probably take that tail, wrap it around you and start sucking out all your juicy goodness. Yes. Because you are, in fact, full of juicy goodness.



Asgolan (Fire/Psychic). It took me years to get its design right, bah. Humanshape Pokémon, at least for me, are incredibly difficult to create, because they invariably come out looking more like people than Pokémon. Oh, and I first created this evolution line when I was a lot younger and more naive, so its original design plans included a whole bunch of unspeakably stupid crap that also needed stripping away before it looked presentable. It still isn't perfect, but at least it isn't dumb and I like it. :B



Takhampos, the pure Water-type starter, is based primarily on the campchurch, a lesser-known cousin of the hippocampus. Accounts of the differences between the two vary, but the one thing that is fairly consistent is that hippocamps have normal horse forelegs and the backside and tail of a fish, while campchurches have four horse legs that all end in fins instead of hooves. Takhampos's fin-hooves can get it around on land well enough, but it's obviously a much better swimmer than it is a runner. And it's pretty, too. :O Can't forget about the pretty.

Some of them may have fuzzy white bits on the outline (should just be Burungin, actually); it's because they're older and I hadn't gotten my lineart-coloring method down yet, so outline-ugliness occurred as a result. It's too hard to fix without either going over the outline with a tiny eraser and taking forever or just redoing the entire thing, so I've kind of stopped caring. Oh, well, at least I know better for the newer ones.

Burungin is my favorite because I love the werehyena stories. I have pictures of them dressed in suits with two mouths, one for people eating, other for souls. These Pokemon seem really other worldly. I demand to know more about your region!

More about it, eh? There are still too many details to iron out for me to really share any pertinent history or information about the regions, but when it's presentable I'll let you know



Morty has always been my favorite male gym leader, and I'm pretty much madly in love with his HGSS redesign. It actually looks like something a ghost-type trainer would wear (bright blue and yellow say what now?), first of all, and for reasons I cannot even begin to explain I am now obsessed with his new scarf. When I saw the sprite and the Sugimori artwork I realized that it was, without a doubt, the rare and powerful Awesome Uber-Scarf of +50 Metrosexuality (easier to see in the sprite/Sugi art than in this pic). Why this is such a big deal to me all of a sudden I couldn't tell you but it just makes my day every time I see it.

...oh and uh I'm proud of the picture because my humans usually don't turn out so nicely. 'S'better than Gold up there, anyway (not that anyone cares because Tyranitar is the focus of the picture but shh).

Going to be doing a bit of jumping back and forth between old stuff and new stuff for a while; I haven't had a lot of time for new artwork lately (although playing HeartGold has given me the most awesome artbunnies ever and I just hope the amount of work involved doesn't cause me to chicken out), but I did manage to finish this today.



A Grass/Fighting fakemon called Zantyroi. I had various plans for satyr fakemon, goat fakemon and what's listed in my concept notes as "drunken wine grape fakemon" for a long time, but it was only yesterday when I was supposed to be doing something else that they all came together in a not-repulsive form and turned into Zantyroi (and its pre-evolution, Vitragoi, but I haven't finished that one yet). Basically it's this awesome lusty old goat fakemon with a perpetual tipsy sway and a ridiculous combination of moves like Sweet Kiss, Teeter Dance, Megahorn, Power Whip, Aromatherapy, Tickle, Follow Me and other things your average Fighting-type wouldn't be caught dead with. I looooove this guy. And he luvs you, bebeh. <3

Long story short: I'd like to introduce you to Zantyroi, and Zantyroi would like to introduce you to his Megahorn. And with base 120 attack, you can bet he can put a lot of force behind that Megahorn. A lot of force.

You probably don't know who this is unless you recognize the characters in my avatar and profile picture (where am Darkly D:), but bah, I'm proud of it and I am going to shove it in your faces anyway.



Meet Zelos Wilder, a shamus with plenty of swift and who's always dizzy with the dames. He's the cat you call when your leather's been reefed or when you think the ol' frau's a chippy--you're in the King's city and you need a snoop, you just look him up at his office or while he's having a smell from the barrel down at the Lezareno. You could holler for Sgt. Irving, Det. Castagnier and the rest of those clueless elbows at the clubhouse, sure, but there's no bird knows how to get a wire on the hoods like Wilder. It follows that every now and then he gets in a few unfortunate scrapes with some trouble boys and their brunos, but a good clam-baking or a few quick words from his convincer and he's good to dust out. Won't be long before he sees those gunsels put under glass--or else sent home in a wooden kimono--and he's back with your goods.

It's a dangerous lay, full of grifting bearcats wearing iron, wet stiffs and more drilling bean-shooters than you can shake a stick at, but it's what brings in the rhino and hey, the dames always go screwy for a good dick.

Background is crappy because it's just a concept. So no beefin' about it, pipe that? Copacetic.
