The battle begins inside the famed Indigo Stadium, in all its standard glory. With a good sized crowd here, they are hoping it will be exciting to watch. On one end of the arena, the first battler arrives. Revealing himself as chaos_redefined, he takes out a Pokeball, and opens it up to reveal a female Snorunt by the name of Mistress. On the opposite end of the arena, the second battler arrives. Revealing himself to be Darth CookieMonster, he takes out a Pokeball as well, and opens it up to reveal a female Numel going by the name of Lava. I take my place between the two battlers, and the battle begins. The match is started off by Lava, who tries to throw up a Safeguard to protect herself from any future status conditions that may fly her way, but Lava suddenly turns to her trainer, having absolutely no idea of what Safeguard is. Mistress does have knowledge of the move however, as she puts up a Safeguard to keep her status from getting inflicted with anything hindersome.

Lava: What in the world is Safeguard?

Feeling a bit embarrassed that she wasted her first move, Lava goes on the attack, preparing to breathe out a Fire Blast to aim at Mistress. Mistress, seeing the kanji-shaped fireball start to form in front of Lava, goes for a Rain Dance to try and make things uncomfortable for the Numel, but no sooner than the rain beginning to fall, the large fireball slams into Mistress, causing the Snorunt to cry in pain.

Mistress: -10 Health, -4 Energy
Lava: -11 Energy, not liking the rain at all

Meanwhile, Lava begins to form a few flaming, ghostly baubles in front of her. Preparing to send the Will-o-Wisp Mistress' way, the light blue fireballs all head for the Snorunt, but they disappear one after another upon touching Mistress' Safeguard, much to Lava's dismay. Mistress then forms a sphere of water filled with some psionic waves, and she throws the Water Pulse at Lava, who cries in pain as she is soaked by the rain-boosted ball of H2O.

The round begins with Mistress preparing a Toxic surprise for Lava. As the poisonous glob sails through the air, it makes its landing on Lava, making her wince painfully as it finds its way into her system. Lava meanwhile tries to Taunt Mistress into only being able to attack, but like before, she turns to her trainer again, wondering what Taunt is for.

Lava: Feeling frustrated she wasted another move, badly poisoned

With help from the rain, Mistress fires off another Water Pulse at Lava, soaking the Numel even more. But this time around, it brings a surprise with it, as the psionic waves manage to find their way into Lava, causing her to develop confusion. Lava tries to produce an Earthquake in her confusion, but she loses her balance and hits her side on the ground.

Mistress: -7 Energy, Safeguarded
Lava: -15 Health (12 from the rain-boosted Water Pulse, 3 from the confusion), badly poisoned, confused

Mistress goes for another Water Pulse. As she sends the ball of water filled with more psionic waves at Lava, it crashes into the Numel, causing her to cry out in pain. Once again, Lava slowly gets up and tries to retaliate with an Earthquake, but luck once again isn't on her side as her confusion causes her to hit herself on the ground again. The poisons in her system soon begin to take effect on Lava, and she winces in pain as her health drops slightly.

Mistress: -7 Energy, Safeguarded
Lava: -17 Health (12 from the rain-boosted Water Pulse, 3 from the confusion, 2 from the Toxic for this round)

Notes:

-The way I ref Toxic is, it does 2% in the first round that a Pokemon is afflicted with it, and an additional 2% for each round after (e.g. 2% this round, then 4% the next, then 6% the next, then 8% the next, and so on). With confusion, I ref it as having a 50% chance for the confused Pokemon to injure itself on its action. Unfortunately, it happened twice this round, my apologies. I was using an online die for this, it just happens at random, so sorry Lava had a rough round.

-Sorry Darth CookieMonster, but Numel cannot learn Taunt either. Next round, please remember to go to Psypokes before you make a move, because Lava cannot afford to waste any more actions, as it can be costly for a Pokemon who wastes an action just because they tried to use a move they cannot learn. You also have the first move for the next round.

The round begins with Lava trying to Rest off a portion of the damage she has taken, not to mention the poison and confusion he has also suffered. But, just as she is about to lay his head down gently, the confusion unexpectedly strikes again, and she ends up making a not-so-comfortable landing as the confusion keeps her awake...ouch. To make matters worse, Mistress opens her mouth and uses a Bite on Lava, making the Numel cry in pain. Somehow though, this causes Lava to suddenly snap out of her confusion.

Mistress: -2 Energy, Safeguarded
Lava: -8 Health (3 from the confusion, 5 from the Bite), feeling grumpy, no longer confused

Grumbling in frustration at Mistress that she didn't get to sleep, Lava just stands there, wondering what to do. Seeing her opponent as a sitting duck, Mistress wastes no time in sending another Water Pulse at Lava, causing the Numel to cry in pain again, but lucky for her, the confusion doesn't make a return despite still taking another strong hit.

Lava: -12 Health

With Lava wondering when the rain will finally end, she continues to stand where she is, doing her best to endure the annoyance it is causing her...that is, until another Water Pulse from Mistress hits her in the face once more. The rain fades moments later, and Lava winces as the poison in her continues to sap her strength.

-Sorry about not mentioning the length of time the Rain Dance was to last for, when I ref a weather move, it lasts 3 rounds unless it's changed, hence why it faded at the end of this round.

-When I ref Rest as successfully working (even though it's not reffed too often; most people ban it in battle or just don't use it), I don't ref it as giving back full health immediately, I ref it as giving back 10% health and 6% energy per action that the Pokemon is asleep, and it lasts for two rounds unless the Pokemon is either woken up early, or if they have the Early Bird ability (which cuts the duration in half). And generally, in battles where it is allowed, people tend to have a substitution where they attempt to use it again if it failed already in that same round.

The round begins with Mistress attempting to put Lava to sleep with her ability to Sing. But, Lava is determined not to let the Snorunt's lullaby bring her into slumber, as she puts up a Protect shield that lets her avoid hearing the melody, much to Mistress' disappointment.

Feeling unhappy that she wasn't able to make Lava fall asleep, Mistress goes back onto the attack, sending off another Water Pulse that heads for Lava. In a desperate attempt to prevent this latest Water Pulse from hitting her, Lava begins to stomp the ground as hard as she can, creating an Earthquake that slams Mistress around and knocks her to her side, but it barely helps to prevent the Water Pulse from striking as it collides with Lava, causing her to cry in pain once again.

Mistress: -12 Health, -7 Energy, Safeguarded
Lava: -10 Health, -11 Energy

Seeing her opponent getting close to defeat, Mistress goes for what she hopes for is the last Water Pulse she'll need here. As she sends the sphere of water at Lava, the Numel gets an idea she hopes will work. Sending a Fire Blast toward the Water Pulse, the two attacks collide...causing a burst of steam from the collision that strikes both battlers. Mistress manages to shake it off, but for Lava, the combination of this surprise blast of steam, plus the toxins in her body sapping her strength proves to be too much for Lava to handle, and she falls.

Notes:

-The first Water Pulse still hit since it was a little bit off the ground when the Earthquake happened. As for the second Water Pulse...when a medium amount of water meets a large and/or intense blast of fire, two things happen, the water is almost immediately turned into steam, but the steam has the sudden blast when it's still overpowered by fire, hence the collision.

Lava is unable to battle, meaning Chaos_redefined has won this surprisingly short battle. Nonetheless, you both did well. Honestly, when I started to ref the first round, I thought this could go either way...it just goes to show you both that having a type advantage doesn't always lead to a victory when luck is a major part of the battle.
