The battle is two-on-one now, and Rafflesia's feeling the pressure. The gloom latches onto the ground, sapping away at its nutrient's [ -5PP Rafflesia / Ingrain activated ]. Azure, meanwhile, attempts to poison Rafflesia [ -5PP Azure / -1HP Azure ], but sighs when he realizes that it's difficult to poison a poisonmon. Shade, still snoozing, fires off a concussive beam of energy that strikes the gloom [ -7HP Rafflesia / -1HP Shade / -1HP Shade ].

Rafflesia attempts to make the day a whole lot brighter, but is scowled at by the referee when she learns that any weather-altering moves (including Sunny Day) have been banned [ +1HP Rafflesia ]. Fortunately for Rafflesia, it's already really sunny out. Azure, feeling embarressed about his earlier flub, focuses on the grass pokemon and attacks her psyche harshly [ -13HP Rafflesia / -6PP Azure / -1HP Azure ]. Shade, meanwhile, continues to snooze while staring into the eyes of the gloom. Rafflesia suddenly feels tired, and rests her eyes for a moment [ -1HP Shade / -1HP Shade / SLP Rafflesia ].

Being the only awake pokemon on the battlefield, Azure focuses once more on Rafflesia [ -13HP Rafflesia / -6PP Azure / -1HP Azure ]. Rafflesia just sleeps [ +10PP Rafflesia / +1HP Rafflesia ], while the shiny spiritomb attempts to use hypnosis once more, failing to do so [ -1HP Shade / -1HP Shade ]. Both he and Rafflesia wake up, Rafflesia now burned.

With things not looking so hot for Rafflesia, she begins charging up for another solar beam to be shot at the ghost pokemon. However, Azure changes that plan by wiggling in a way that can apparently be described as harsh in the gloom tongue, and infuriates Rafflesia to no end [ -3PP Azure / Rafflesia Taunted / -1HP Azure ]. The poison pokemon angrily switches targets, and blasts the staryu with her pent-up solar energy [ -16HP Azure / -8PP Rafflesia ], easily knocking out the water pokemon. Shade, meanwhile, having braced himself for the attack that's not coming, feels ashamed for wasting the energy [ -5PP Shade / -2HP Shade / -1HP Shade ].

Now a one-on-one, Shade spits out a wobbly ball of shadows and grim, striking Rafflesia harshly [ -9HP Rafflesia / -5PP Shade / -2HP Shade / -1HP Shade ]. Raff, no longer feeling any resentment or anger, plops on the ground attempts to wonder just what it was her trainer asked her to do [ +5PP Rafflesia ]. Apparently, glooms don't know how to recover.

Shade, annoyed that his foe is living rather than dying, slams his fists on the ground, sending a force of dark energy forward. It ripples through the air before colliding with the gloom [ -8HP Rafflesia / -5PP Shade / -2HP Shade / -1HP Shade ]. Raff takes the blow gracefully, and retalliates by shooting out three small orbs that attach themselves to Shade's exterior before sapping away his lifeforce [ -6HP Shade / -3PP Rafflesia / +3HP Rafflesia ].

After so many fractions and additions and subtractions, this match is now closer than ever!

The blue ghost pokemon just snickers along as he renches her mind with his thoughts devilishly [ -14HP Rafflesia / -7PP Shade / -3HP Shade / -1HP Shade ].

Rafflesia groans from the mental strain before shooting of a couple vines into the ghost pokemon, draining his lifeforce away slowly [ -6HP Shade / -3PP Rafflesia / +3HP Rafflesia / +1HP Rafflesia / -1HP Rafflesia ]. The sapping of his health annoys him, and Shade counteracts with a sudden jolt of dark energy [ -8HP Rafflesia / -5PP Shade / -3HP Shade / -1HP Shade ].

Rafflesia slaps Shade once more with her vines, draining more of his health away [ -6HP Shade / -3PP Rafflesia / +3HP Rafflesia / +1HP Rafflesia / -1HP Rafflesia ], whilst Shade merely counterattacks with another mental attack [ -14HP Rafflesia / -7PP Shade / -3HP Shade / -1HP Shade ]. Raff is barely hanging on at this point.
