Temzi :: Dragoon of Justice
:: he's pretty fly ::
Temzi mentally slapped himself for the clumsiness of his replies. He was only glad that Lady Selene and Lady Shayna didn't seem to be taking offence from them. He supposed that they knew his habits by now, and he felt grateful that they didn't pressure him to be otherwise.
Conversations about his armour though, those he could do. And after the ministrations to his hair, he felt like he needed a short break from the beauty treatment. After Lady Shay sprang from the bathroom in her... well, he could only describe it as a thing, Temzi felt more secure in the hope that there would be no more clothing removed, and no more embarrassments to come. Although sometimes he suspected that embarrassment sought him out like a drunkard seeks out free beer at a party, and he just wished that it would get the memo and leave him alone. He could do without that almost-permanent blush. And now that people had seen him outside of his armour, they'd probably be wanting to do so on a more regular basis, and he cringed at the thought.
“Why are you cringing, Temzi?” Shay was always to the point, and she settled down on the floor next to his feet, on top of a plump cushion, as Selene brought over a tray of multi-coloured drinks.
“I stole these from Sirius,” she said, an evil grin on her face. “I found them hidden away in a cupboard right at the back of the bedroom. Almost as if he was ashamed of them.” She sat down cross-legged on the bed next to Temzi, and held out the tray.
Shay snorted, and took a bright pink drink off the tray. It was in a tall, thin glass, and there was some sort of fruit hanging off the side that looked most impractical.
“Which one do you want, Temzi?”
He looked at the last two drinks worriedly. One was in a pear-shaped glass, and was a mixture of blue and green, and the last was in a squat, round glass, and was opaque, with glints of something rainbow-coloured inside. “I think I will brave this one,” he said, picking up the round glass. There was an umbrella sticking out of the top, for some reason, and it hit him in the nose as he went to take a smell of the liquid inside.
“So, why were you cringing?”
“Ah, just considering the future.” He tried to be vague, but had a suspicion that it wouldn't work in the face of two persistent Ladies. He took a sip of his drink as a distraction, and immediately spluttered it out again. It tasted like aniseed and fruit, an odd combination, and it burned his throat as if he'd swallowed fire.
Selene thumped him on the back and took a generous drink of her own confection, a dreamy smile slipping over her face as the liquor went down her throat. “Divine,” she said, licking her lips. “Don't you like yours, Temzi?”
“It is... stronger than anything I've ever experienced,” he said, painfully aware of how inexperienced he sounded. “W-what is it?”
“Oh, this and that,” Selene waved her hand airily.
“Mine tastes like bubblegum,” Shay chirped. Her eyes already looked slightly out of focus, and Temzi noticed that a quarter of her glass had already gone. Her lips were a pinker tinge than usual, and she hiccuped, once. “What flavour's yours, S'lene?”
“It's a recipe I picked up in Rozzaria once,” she said, tapping her nose. “Tastes like heaven in a glass.”
Temzi leapt upon a subject not laced with embarrassment eagerly. “I have never been to Rozzaria. What is it like, there?” He took a tentative second sip of his drink, and found it more palatable, though it did something to his head that was altogether unnatural.
“Oh, you know,” Selene plucked a cherry off the side of her glass, and ate it in a manner that almost made the embarrassment rear its ugly head again. Temzi quashed the feeling with another drink, and found it a good method.
