Ryan calmly recalls his fallen sludge balloon and tosses another Pokeball. With a bright flash of light, Ryan’s Tyrogue bursts onto the scene with a little spinning kick just to demonstrate what he’s made of. Wow, this guy’s good! He sprints over toward Fear and dekes left—no, dekes right… ahh, he’s trying to Fake Out the poor kitty! Fear refuses to be overcome by such a cheap maneuver and throws up a grey barrier. Tyrogue brings his fist swinging against it, but the Protections holds strong.

Tyrogue: <-3 EP>

Irked that his first move was blocked, Tyrogue again assumes a speedy pace as he races for Fear and inflicts a rather nasty punch. Fear shakes off the Mach Punch and counters by sinking her teeth into Tyrogue’s ankle. Her fangs crackle with golden energy as Tyrogue lets out a shout of pain. Jeebuz, that hurts!

Fear smirks. Hey, you! Yeah, you! You, uh… you look just like a fruity little anorexic Machop!

Woooah. That was just plain uncalled for. Tyrogue seems taken aback by the insult (are those tears?) and almost doesn’t bother moving altogether, but pulls his act together fast enough to bring his palm slamming against the kitty. Fear doesn’t look like he appreciates that so much…

As we enter the next round, Fear begins things by calmly making eye contact with the wee warrior. The Glameow’s eyes take on a Hypnotic shade of purple as he begins purring soothingly. Tyrogue suddenly feels the fatigue coming on in waves and, though he tries to kick up a shouting ruckus, the exhaustion reduces his Uproar to a mere whimper. Unable to fight off the tiredness, Tyrogue collapses and succumbs to sleep.

With that, a shocking glow suffuses the slumbering Tyrogue's body and his physical might skyrockets.

Tyrogue: <Sleep; +3 Att>

Fear whipes his brow. Phew, that was a close one! Suddenly, a dark, conduit-shaped mass extends from the kitty's mind and extends right toward Tyrogue. Fear sucks up all of Tyrogue’s good dreams, leaving just the bad ones behind, and the Scuffle Pokemon begins thrashing in distress. Hold on, little guy!

Fear: <-8 EP; +6 HP>
Tyrogue: <-12 HP; Zzz>

Energized by the images produced by Tyrogue’s unconscious mind, Fear goes in for a second Dream Eater. The sleeping Tyrogue kicks and swings his fists, trying to fight off the move, but it’s in vain. Fear sucks him dry.

As the next round gets underway, Fear decides to repeat that Dream Eater strategy of his. As he devours all of the nummy dreams, Tyrogue begins mumbling in his sleep. Hrm, what could this mean? Suddenly, the pint-sized fighter hops to his feet like some kind of marionette and drives his foot into the ground. The earth begins shaking about like mad, tossing Fear to the ground like a sack of potatoes. Ouchies.

Fear: <-14 HP; -8 EP; +6 HP>
Tyrogue: <-12 HP; -7 EP; Zzz>

As the Earthquake comes to a halt, Tyrogue suddenly opens his eyes. He’s back... and lemme tell you, he looks pissed. As he scrambles to his feet, arms flexed, the glow begins to fade and his strength takes a dip. Fear races in for a quick attack, leaping into the air and spinning into some kind of aerial maneuver. The move strikes Tyrogue, who simply pounds the Glameow back down to the ground. Boost or no boost, that’s one feisty Tyrogue.

Hissing, Fear spews out a hair-raising jolt of electricity that fries up Tyrogue like a piece of back bacon. The Scuffle Pokemon counters by marching over toward Fear and assaulting him with an open palm.

Now that he’s shaken off whatever lingering drowsiness remained after waking, Tyrogue is ready to punish that kitty. Fear bounds forth with another Aerial Ace, but finds himself slamming into a translucent pink barrier thrown up by Tyrogue just in the nick of time. Tyrogue winks, prompting Fear to break out his best glowering look. Cheeky so-and-so…

The moment the Protect fades away, Fear pounces. The Glameow’s tail grows stiff and takes on a silvery sheen as it slams right into the pint-sized fighter’s noggin. That’ll leave a bump. Growling, Tyrogue hops into the air and brings his wee shoed foot slamming down into the kitty. Fear whimpers. Ouch.

Okay, you asked for it. Hoping to repeat a past success, Fear locks eyes with Tyrogue and pierces him with a Hypnotic stare. Tyrogue isn’t gonna be bested by that move again, no sirree, and erects a reflective barrier. Fear is left staring at his own reflection, getting lost in that bright, purple gaze… how… soothing…

Just like that, sleep takes hold and Fear has no choice but to take a (*preemptory cringe*) cat nap.

Now that the weakened Fear has succumbed to sleep, his lifespan seems pretty finite all of a sudden. The kitty begins mumbling in his sleep and, all of a sudden, he vaults to his feet. Drawing on Assistance from his fallen comrade, FartBrain, Fear fires off an ideogram of crackling flames at Tyrogue. Golly, Tyrogue is suddenly looking toasty... perhaps even Burnt? Nonetheless, the little unspecialized fighter isn’t fazed, especially once his Guts again kicks in and his might increases. He marches up and smashes Fear’s face with one well-aimed thrust of his open palm.

With that, the kitty’s donezo.

Darth CookieMonster recalls his fallen Glameow to his Pokeball for a good rest. He whips out another one from his belt and gives it a toss, summoning a Murkrow into the battle. Tyrogue greets the newcomer by crouching down and panting, clearly fatigued, which leaves the fighter open to a flying dive-tackle care of Raven. Oh, so that’s how you fight, eh? Tyrogue straightens, not out of this yet, and claps his hands. Suddenly, a barrage of rocks comes sailing down from the heavens and slams into Raven, knocking the birdie to the ground. Rocks = ow.

Raven: <-18 HP; -3 EP>
Tyrogue: <-8 HP; -7 EP>

With a bit of effort, Raven wiggles free from beneath the rocks. That does it. Emitting a blood-curdling shriek, she flaps her wings sharply and sends a sphere of dark energy whizzing across the field. It collides with Tyrogue, causing sand to come flying up from the ground. When the screen finally dissipates, Tyrogue’s motionless body becomes visible. Down and out.

Ryan calls his fallen Tyrogue back to its ball before releasing his penultimate Pokester. A Dratini comes out and slithers slithers onto the field, letting out a high, lilting call. A bird against a snake… kind of appropriate, eh? Raven starts tearing into her foe, making a few rude remarks about how Dratini is nothing but a little gimp. Ooh, low blow. Though Dratini tries to erect a Safeguard, she’s just too gosh darn hurt by the Taunt to do so.

Okay, this one’s a little weird. Raven tries to put the snakie to sleep, and Dratini tries to boost her stats… but nothing happens. At all. They stare at each other funny for a moment and then shrug.

Alrighty, once that’s out of the way…. it’s showtime! A shadowy ball of energy materializes before Raven, who gives her wings one sharp beat and sends the thing whizzing toward Dratini. The Dragon-type seems a little irked by that… maybe even Outraged? She starts into a furious rampage, bouncing around the arena in fury before laying into Raven and slapping up that crow with her tail as best as she can.

With no massive gap separating the two fighters’ remaining hit points, it’s clear that the battle could go either way. Both Raven and Dratini seem ready to cut the shit and deal some real, serious damage to one another. Raven begins by summoning a chilling wind to come whistling through the arches and colonnades of this ancient arena. Reduced to a shuddering mess, Dratini still manages to fire out a crackling burst of electric current at the Murkrow. Mmm, is somebody cooking chicken?

A little toastier than she was a moment ago, Raven doesn’t let one measly Thunderbolt mess up her groove. She conjures up a spiraling twister that gusts over toward Dratini and blows the Dragon right into a crumbling wall. Bummer. Pleased with her first Thunderbolt, Dratini figures, hey, why mess with success? She unleashes another hot surge of electricity.

Here’s a familiar sight. Raven again commands an Icy Wind to chill Dratini to the bone, while the slithery serpent goes for Thunderbolt numero trois.

As we enter the next round, Dratini seems to be enjoying a moderate lead, one that Raven appears dead set on obliterating. As Dratini does a little jig on the spot to summon rain, Raven calls forth and icy blast of wind that strikes the Dragon Pokemon with ferocity. Some of the rain drops freeze to ice on the spot, grating at Dratini even further.

Dratini: <-11 HP; -3 EP>

Surrounded by buckets of rain, Dratini performs a Thunder Wave that sizzles through the air and makes everything smell like batteries. Raven tries for some kind of artful aerial maneuver to evade the attack, but the rain increases the swiftness of the Electric-type move, making it near-impossible to evade for even the fastest flyers… including Murkrows. Fried by the Thunder Wave, Raven feels Paralysis jolt through his frame, but vengeance is sweet. A mirror materializes in front of Raven and releases a cone of electricity that causes Dratini’s muscles to lock up as well. Even Steven.

Again, Raven summons an Icy Wind to spill out of nowhere and rage through the architecture here. Dratini tries to reply with a Thunder, but Paralysis takes hold and she finds herself immobilized. Drat! How unlucky!

However, the gods of Paralysis just then take pity upon Dratini, or so it would appear, as she begins to molt her outer exterior. She crawls out of her old skin, looking awfully new and shiny, leaving her Paralysis behind. Huzzah!

Having narrowed Dratini’s lead a mite, Raven feels his confidence increase as he tries to command another Icy Wind, but finds Paralysis foiling his attempt. Ugh, what a paaain. Dratini uses the rain to her advantage as she shoots off a souped up Thunder that mercilessly toasts Raven. Mmm, is someone frying chicken?

Dratini: <-10 EP>

Snickering, Dratini again goes with another painful Thunder. How merciless! Shedding hit points like feathers, Raven manages to conjure up a black ball of energy and flaps his wings once, causing the attack to come spiraling toward Dratini. It collides with the blue snakey and costs her a bit of her defensive prowess as well.

Dratini: <-8 HP; -10 EP; -1 SpD>

Here it comes, guys. The pouring rain pretty much sums up Raven’s last fleeting feelings as the final Thunder does him in. Just like that, another one bites the dust.

DCM recalls Raven to her ball and makes his final selection. With a toss and a burst of red light, out comes a rapidly spinning seastar. Dratini scoffs. Easy-peasy. Azure wastes no time in cutting to the chase as its gemstone glows bright blue and swells of winter descend upon the Colosseum. Squinting through the harsh Blizzard, Dratini manages to identify her target and fires off a Thunderous discharge. The pouring rain boosts Thunder just as much as Dratini's flagging Special Defence lends Blizzard a little extra bite.

Raven: <-16 HP; -10 EP>
Dratini: <-16 HP; -10 EP>

Again, it’s Blizzard on Thunder, and the two attacks gust and crackle their ways to their respective targets. This time, Dratini manages to score a direct hit. Booyeah!

While those Thunders seem to be a bit much for Azure to handle, Dratini looks considerably pooped. She wobbles from side to side, hoping to execute one last Thunder, but Azure seems faster. With one brilliant surge of winter, Dratini collapses, out of this battle for good.
