E3 2010 June 15 - 17 Finished!

Missed some of the Konami conference, but from what I saw, it was just barely better than Microsoft's and Ubisoft's. MGS Rising looks appealing to me for the first time (The Torture Game on PS3, lol.), and that PSN/XBLA multiplayer Castlevania, not to mention a Silent Hill remake? I'll look into that stuff, guaranteed.

They're making another Silent Hill remake? Didn't one just come out a few months ago?

Didn't catch their press conference but I did hear the XBox/PS3 Castlevania is coming out this fall. There hasn't been a 3D Castlevania that's ever been more than just so-so and I'm really hoping this will change things.

Goldeneye 007 for the Wii is going to be a decent remake of an old classic.

Apparently one of the things hitting the net over the last few days is that the Kinect does not recognize people sitting down. That does make some amount of sense, seeing how it is adjusted toward recognizing people with a typical body structure. But if it is designed to view a human skeleton standing up, then this would probably kill any market for the system since almost all of us play games sitting in chairs.

On the Nintendo side of things, we have this bit of news.

There's been alot of fear going around about the 3DS being expensive, with some analysts even predicting a price as high as a whopping 299 US dollars. Hopefully, Nintendo going with a currently no-name chip maker like DMP will help them keep the cost of this thing down. Plus, that demo looks pretty impressive.

Apparently the Kinect has trouble reading you if your wearing black too.

It amazed me that someone tried to say Sony had 'won' E3 this year because of their better presentation and that 20min rambling speech that was just slagging off the competition. All sony 'unveiled' was a Wii Ripoff, an X-Box Live ripoff, the fact you can buy Sony 3D TV's and their 'Exclusive products' which were just exclusive content for multiplatform games. Hell, Sony's biggest announcement was that their doing an advertising deal with Coke.

And is it me or are Sony and Microsoft both being dumb. Theyre plugging the hell out of their new Karting titles, and treading on Nintendo's toes. (Isnt Mario Kart actually the reason we spell Karting with a K these days?) Yeah thats right guys, challenge Nintendo to try something new and innovate, thats worked so well for you before hasnt it.

I think the reason Sony didn't show the PSP2 is because they were waiting to draw ideas from Nintendo's upcoming handheld. You'll see. Next year or so, they'll have their own 3DS and try to pass it off as "cooler".

Pretty sure the 3DS has internet and MP3 Blade, but I am definitely waiting on Sony's system for the wireless nostril groomer.

I think a big reason we won't see PSP 2 for a while is it's pretty secondary to Sony and it's still making money. I'm not sure about Europe but it moves a fair amount of hardware in the US and a lot in Japan. They're also still selling a boat load of games over there. I also think they know if they try and go head to head with a new DS they will get crushed.

Reggie was on Jimmy Fallon last night to show off DKCR, but he also talked a little about the 3DS and confirmed that it's coming out...

Not too surprised, the companies just got the dev kits, and from the looks of e3 there was nothing close to a completed game on hand. I have heard talk it will be coming out before March 2011, since that is the start of the next fiscal year. Which I would guess give the developers some time to have about 10 to 15 launch titles ready, maybe 1 or 2 total that isn't a complete port of a old title, or shovelware.
