Name: Katria Schaeffer
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Occupation: College student, bakes at the coffee shop, intern at The Daily Inquirer
Address: Run-down apartment in Bridgewater, a shabbier, lower-class town a ways south of Riverside.
Appearance: Standing at 5’4” with light brown hair that reaches about mid-back and blue-gray eyes, Katria’s quite pretty. Her appearance doesn’t match up for her true age; she’s often mistaken for a teenager. She has good posture, and her slender/emaciated, curvy build is usually obscured by loose-fitting clothing. She prefers neutral colors, plain patterns and minimal makeup, so she doesn’t draw attention to herself. There isn’t much distinction between her casual and work clothes, mostly because of her budget. At a first glance, she seems unapproachable and introverted. Due to financial problems, her clothing is secondhand. She always has a notebook on hand.
Personality: A practical mute, Katria hardly talks to anyone but her daughter, and even then her voice is barely above a whisper. Due to this, she communicates via pad and writing utensil. She’s quiet and has trouble communicating (obviously), so it’s difficult for her to form friendships. She loves making people happy and puts others before herself, even if the person is a complete stranger or asshole, and she overworks herself because of this. Due to trauma from her past, she’s claustro- and androphobic (fear of closed spaces and men.) Although she’s extremely wary and untrusting of people, deep down she just wants to be loved for who she is.
Skills: Katria used to be the lead singer of a little known band called Alchemist’s Addiction. She was very good at what she did and could’ve gone solo, but she chose to stay with her friends. Although her voice quality was that of an alto’s, she could hit extremely high pitches. However, due to her present inability to speak, let alone sing, this doesn’t help her at all. She is able to play piano decently, but she gave up pursuing a career as a pianist because her hands are small, and it’s difficult to play well if you don’t have long fingers. She loves making and decorating things, such as accessories and cakes, and one of her strong points is drawing. Due to having to constantly write, she’s an extremely fast writer. During her school days, she consistently made A-B honor roll.
History: Katria grew up in a pretty normal household out of state. Her parents were pretty close-minded and racist, but they were still caring and supported her interests. A normal kid and teenager, she had plenty of friends and a love interest or two. Due to her pregnancy, she was kicked out of her house and dropped out of high school during her senior year. She was eventually able to make up the credits that she lost and moved to her current residence where she’s trying for an undergrad in arts, culture, and humanities while trying to balance it with work and taking care of her child.
Relationships: She lives with her five-year-old daughter, Cecilia “Cici” Schaeffer, and works with Cain Sevion at the coffee shop. She knows some of the staff at The Daily Inquirer by face, but she can’t quite get names yet. She’s estranged by her parents but still keeps in contact with her older brother, Daniel, occasionally. Steve Echo, a coffee shop regular, is Cecilia's magician.
Other: She loves little kids and animals. Her favorite genre of music is jazz, and she loves playing improv games, although she can’t do it anymore.
