Rawk immediately erupts into flames, freeing himself his allies, you included, while Thunderhand punches at the ground below to free him from it's cold. Grand Star unleashes a brilliant flash of light, and you see the most beautiful sight.

It doesn't last, however, and the bird is angry, sealing shut the cavern's only entrance with her ice beam, before turning her gaze to you.

Looks like it's battle time now.

You head out and follow the path that Lopunny took until it leads outside the cavern, and back into the tundra. The hailstorm continues thrashing down, causing a bit of harm for Lopunny. She hops back into the cave with the item in question before presenting it to you.

As per your orders, Rawk Hawk (alone) steps forward, confident in his abilities to best this beast. His gauntlets explode in a sea of flames once more as he throws his body forward feet first. As he charges through the air like a speeding bullet, his legs ignite. However, before he can even connect with Articuno, he is picked up by a heavy gust of wind and flung into a wall dangerously [ -5HP, -7PP Rawk Hawk / -2PP Articuno ].

Rawk Hawk pulls himself back together and staggers for a few seconds. This bird is going down, he would think. His gauntlets ignite a second time this round as he lunges forward, ready to connect this time. He does so, and crashes his right fist into the ice bird's frame [ -10HP Articuno / -7PP Rawk Hawk ]. But as he attempts to escape to his side of the nest, she tags his backside with a swift collection of water energy [ -9HP Rawk Hawk / -4PP Articuno ]. The water is ice cold!

Rawk, still wet and very cold, tries his best to ignore it as he starts packing his elbow with rock-based energy. The armor is enough to cause quite a blow as he slams said elbow into Articuno's icy plumage [ -16HP Articuno / -10PP Rawk Hawk ]. The ice queen pulls away and takes to the air for just a moment -- Lapras readies herself just in case she flies away -- but Articuno ain't running away. She climbs higher into the air before whipping her wings around, creating a large blade of air that slashes Rawk critically [ -15HP Rawk Hawk / -4PP Articuno ], leaving quite a gash.

No matter how powerful the flames, however, the ice just refuses to melt all that much. Kamon can continue on, but his energy will be depleted at a much faster rate than the ice wall will melt.

Articuno ascends higher and higher into the air before whipping straight back down. Rawk Hawk takes aim and lets loose a wave of fire energy that engulfs the ice bird [ -12HP Articuno / -10PP Rawk Hawk ]. Before Rawk can even celebrate, however, the blast of flames dissipates as Articuno suddenly slams into your firebird, knocking him to the ground and causing heavy damage [ -21HP Rawk Hawk / -12PP Articuno ].

Rawk Hawk struggles to pull himself back together just as Articuno swoops by, infecting him with a deadly poison [ +3% Tox Rawk Hawk / -5PP Articuno ]. His body terribly sore, Rawk forces his palms together and sends a steady stream of fiery chains to wrap around his opponent [ -11HP Articuno / -8PP, -1HP Rawk Hawk ]. He manages to pull this off once more [ -11HP Articuno / -8PP, -1HP Rawk Hawk ] before she hits him with a swift aerial tackle [ -9HP Rawk Hawk / -3PP Articuno ].

Perhaps going against all rational sense, Rawk Hawk begins taunting his foe, goading her into attack [ -2PP, -2HP Rawk Hawk ]. The bird caws aggressively before diving from her lofty position up above and pelting Rawk with another water pulse [ -9HP Rawk Hawk / -4PP Articuno ].

Still struggling to contain her fury, Articuno swiftly turns to face her foe before summoning a series of rocks inside the cavern to visciously attack the fighting pokemon [ -6HP Rawk Hawk / -4PP Articuno ]. Rawk crouches down, but as Articuno thinks she has won the battle, he springs upwards into her body, smashing her with a combination of physical force as well as fire [ -17HP Articuno / -10PP, -4HP Rawk Hawk ].

Slightly dazed, but not out of this fight, Articuno purges her anger with a piercing blow to Rawk's torso. She latches on with her beak before flinging him high into the air. This will not end well, Rawk thinks as he crashes into the cavern floor [ -9HP Rawk Hawk / -3PP Articuno ].

Rawk Hawk, nearly collapsed and ready to retreat, is recalled back into his poke ball so he can regain his strength. In his stead, Thunderhand steps forward, ready to finish the battle he started.

But Articuno is a swift one. She fires off a blade of ice that pokes Thunderhand in the torso [ -9HP Thunderhand / -5PP Articuno ] as he quickly elevates himself higher and higher [ -5PP, @Levitate Thunderhand ].

Thunder coughs as the ice shatters into several pieces, leaving a very nasty gash in its wake. He snaps his fingers and releases a torrent of electric shocks that wrap around the ice bird, paralyzing her weakly [ -3PP Thunderhand / +12% Par Articuno ]. Articuno continues her flight, however, and stabs with another ice beam to his right side [ -9HP Thunderhand / -5PP Articuno ].

Had enough, Thunderhand raises his arms, summoning a swift bolt of electricity. But before he can fire it off, Articuno fires off another water pulse that engulfs the electricmon, diffusing his technique devilishly [ -5PP Thunderhand / -5PP Articuno ].

Thunderhand swiftly sails through the air with his right fist outstretched, creating a torrent of electric energy around it. Articuno attempts to get away, but her paralysis, light as it is, still hinders her movements as Thunder bashes her backside easily [ -10HP Articuno / -5PP Thunderhand ]. The ice bird retalliates with a quick tackling, using her paralysis to fuel it [ -14HP Thunderhand / -5PP Articuno ].

Articuno lofts for a few seconds before hitting the ground patiently. Unsure of what she's planning on doing, Thunderhand charges up a ball of electric energy, throwing it forward at the appears-to-be-resting bird, who just takes the hit in stride [ -7HP Articuno / -4PP, +10% SpA Thunderhand ].

Thunderhand, taking all he can, closes his eyes and focuses on the bird before sending several bolts of psychic energy her way. Articuno screeches out [ -8HP Articuno / -7PP Thunderhand ] before responding in full: a blast of energy absorbed from all the damage she had just taken, sending Thunderhand to the ground quite easily [ -20HP Thunderhand / -10PP Articuno ].

Annoyed that you wasted your points on a ball that was just gonna be destroyed, you bark more orders at the weakened Thunderhand, who desperately wants to make you pround. Thunderhand claps his thunderhands together, creating a massive bolt of electricity that frantically surges through Articuno's body heavily [ -13HP Articuno / -7PP Thunderhand ]. She responds with a weak brushing of cold wind [ -6HP, -10% Spd Thunderhand / -2PP Articuno ].

Thunderhand lets loose with a fiery fist that collides into his foe's plummage [ -10HP Articuno / -6PP Thunderhand ]. Articuno, perhaps fearing the worst, shoots herself into the sky as high as she can. Lapras, knowing what to do instantly, creates a tether and wraps it around Articuno's right talon, keeping them bound [ -7PP Lapras ]. However, Articuno continues to fly, taking Lapras with her as she does so.

The two ice pokemon fly through the hole in the ceiling, into the hailstorm.

As Ninetales continues to talk, you feel your head quake with pain over and over. What's happening, you would wonder, clutching your head as it throbs in pain over and over until you eventually pass out.

...

You wake up, surrounded no longer by the chillingly cold caverns, and instead by unseasonal warmth. Suddenly your jacket becomes too much as you cast it to the side. The salty air keeps you calm as you try to figure out what just happened. Gin and Kamon are with you, as is Alexander (in his poke ball), but Becca... she's not.

Without a moment's hesitation, Thunderhand latches onto you and lifts high into the air via magnetism. Grand Star follows suit, using his back as a propeller while trying to communicate with Lapras telepathically.

But damn it all, Lapras is unable to concentrate on hypnosis, lest she lose the tether; notwithstanding, it's hard to hypnotize something that's not looking into your eyes.

You escape the cavern through the hole, and spot Articuno and Lapras a few meters ahead of you. They're getting smaller and smaller in the distance, so you're going to hafta be swift, lest they get away. And it's unlikely that Articuno will return to her nest for quite some time if she does.
