Round 1
Gents and lady-gents, we enter the heretofore famed Crystal Catacombs of... some place that's probably important. With me are two dashing young rogues eager to prove who is, in fact, better than the other with a collossal battle spanning twelve pokémon for each side. Challenged trainer Ayeun summons hers first: an unusual umbreon with rings that flicker between blue and black constantly, named Midnight. Challenger Darth, meanwhile, releases his own pokémon -- a stone tablet. Emerging from said tablet is the spiritomb that haunts it -- named Shade.

Shade begins round one aptly by forming his ghostly body into what appears to be a... middle finger? Wow, I wasn't even aware pokémon even knew what that meant! Nevertheless, Midnight is enraged [ -2PP Shade / Tau Shade ], and swiftly ducks into the shadows before hitting the specter head-on with an attack of cunning darkness [ -6HP Shade / -5PP Midnight ].

Shade, unsure why he just pissed off a now-attacking opponent, attempts to subdue said opponent with a batch of confusion. However, any attempts to locate his foe go lost as Midnight continues to pounce around in the darkness before striking yet again [ -4HP Shade / -5PP Midnight ]. The attack is very weak considering Shade is tethered to a stone...

Shade attempts to draw out an actual attack this time, but before he can summon the winds, he is stricken with the fox's swift tackle yet again [ -8HP Shade / -7PP Midnight ]. He reels back from the attack, but manages to shoot off the blast of bug-based wind, engulfing the umbreon easily [ -9HP Midnight / -4PP Shade ].

The round ends, and Midnight's rage subsides... for now.

First use Attract. Yes Attract. Turns out that Shade here thinks he is quite te ghostly devil. Evil Spirits need love too. Follow up with soothing your thoughts, and finish with another Silver Wind attack.

Round 2
Midnight ducks into the shadows once again, keeping herself hidden for the most beneficial attack. Alas, before she can pounce, she finds herself suddenly mesmerized, and, dare I say, attracted to the specter [ -2PP Shade / +25% Att Midnight ]! But she thinks about the conundrum for a few seconds before ultimately deciding that, while Shade is looking mighty tasty at this particular moment, she'd rather win! She promptly finishes her attack [ -6HP Shade / -5PP Midnight ].

Midnight returns to her side of the arena to charge up a ball of grim energy; as she's doing that, Shade hones his mental skills and raises his traits [ -5PP, +10% SpD, +10% SpA Shade ]. Midnight barks, shooting off the wobbly ball of stale energy. It connects!, and thereby explodes on Shade's face [ -7HP Shade / -7PP Midnight ].

Shade again readies his bug attack before being struck by Midnight's attack -- this time a dark pulsar [ -7HP Shade / -7PP Midnight ]. He stands his ground before firing off a second silver wind [ -10HP Midnight / -4PP Shade ].

Round 3
Midnight, knowing that her foe is coming for her, is conflicted. She wants to aid her trainer, but she also wants not to hurt her foe that much. But as the specter attacks, she becomes Keanu Reeves to Shade's Patrick Swayze, and just refuses to hurt him as he summons another gale of bug energy to assault her [ -10HP Midnight / -4PP Shade ].

Midnight comes to her senses, realizing that if someone loved her, they wouldn't hurt her. Her attraction fades away just as easily as it presented itself, and she closes her eyes, wishing a sweet wish [ -5PP Midnight ]. Shade, meanwhile, waits for her eyes to open back up before staring into them, giving the dark wolf a serious headache and some mild confusion [ -5PP Shade / +25% Con Midnight ].

Another wind nearly comes, but not before Midnight pounces Shade secretively [ -8HP Shade / -7PP Midnight ]. He pulls himself back together before sending the winds after her again [ -10HP Midnight / -4PP Shade ].

Before the round closes, Midnight feels her body refreshing slightly [ +10HP Midnight ]. Her wish came true!

Round 4
Midnight begins the fourth round with another pulsar of dark energy that ripples through the field before crashing into the ghost pokémon [ -7HP Shade / -7PP Midnight ]. The specter, tired of the darkness, explodes in a sea of white light that illuminates the caverns, and causes the crystals in the arena to react [ -2PP Shade / -10% Acc Midnight ].

Midnight shakes her head, trying to regain focus, but before she can even summon the strength to forge her next attack, the crystals in the arena violently react, firing off a solidified beam of energy that teleports her away somewhere! But where!? Shade, feeling victorious, congratulates himself before being zapped with a similar ray from the crystals. He too is carried away to somewhere unusual... some limbo.


We'll get back to these two pokémon in a few rounds -- in the meanwhile, Aye and Darth, PM me your next pokémon and we'll go from there.

Round 5
With their two pokémon trapped elsewhere, Ayeun and Darth send out two more: Aye with a golden charmander, appropriately named Burn, and Darth with Fenrus, a fierce zangoose. Fenrus immediately utilizes the arena and summons a volley of rocks to drop upon the fire pokémon [ -11HP Burn / -5PP Fenrus ]. Burn merely lies in wait, surrounded by a fighting aura. The aura absorbs the energy used from the rock slide before throwing it back at Fenrus, super-charged [ -22HP Fenrus / -10PP Burn ].

Fenrus rubs his forehead in exasperation before retalliating with a powerful blast of aquatic energy that strikes without warning [ -9HP Burn / -4PP Fenrus ]. Careful not to difuse the flame on her tail, Burn jumps back away from the water puddle and lunges toward Fenrus with her claw outstretched. She punches!, hitting the mongoose decently [ -11PP Fenrus / -5PP Burn ].

Unhappy with the way things are turning out, Fenrus snaps; third verse, same as the first [ -11HP, -10PP Burn / -17HP*, -5PP Fenrus ].
