This Volcanic Island - previously hidden away; can now be seen from the shore. A massive pool of magma lies deep in its center, but one can walk down quite a ways and find a variety of Fire Types enjoying the heated tunnels. Some hardier Flying Pokemon line the edges of the Volcano as well. A tall Pagoda stands on the Island as well, the only man-made structure here. If you fish from shore, Water Pokemon encounter rates are the same as for Tranquil Shores.



Rounds 61/133
Blade recalls Thunderhand (to prevent heatstroke) as he and Ghosts follow Miles into the volcano's cavern. Immediately upon entering, the both of you start sweating bullets. Even Grand Star is having trouble coping with the heat. The starfish spurts out a blast of water to keep itself cool, but the most of it just evaporates instantly.

The both of you wipe your respective brows as you continue through the chasm, spotting a river of fire nearby. A chimchar and a magby are playing beside it.

As the heat continues to beat down upon your features, the both of you take another swig from your water bottles before continuing deeper into the volcano, following the magma and trusting Miles' judgment.

Deeper and deeper into Shinsuke, you feel the earth beneath your feet start to rumble! A fireball shoots out of a pass a few feet ahead -- a zubat slams into the wall as a result, instantly fainting.

Blade takes the fallen zubat in his arms and begins cradling it. Ghosts smirks wildly at the thought of Blade the matron as Rawk places his fingertips on the bat's temples. Within a few seconds, Zubat feels oddly refreshed and ready to take on anything [ -10PP Rawk Hawk ]... almost.

You continue further with Zubat still resting in Blade's arms.

A monferno stares at you from up ahead.

The two of you seperate briefly, with Blade asking Monferno a few questions, and Ghosts following Miles around as she searches for clues.

Rawk Hawk communicates with the fiery sapian:

"I'm not sure what you mean? Gar-bage? A skull cap and a... that tail! Why does he have that tail!?"

Miles continues to sniff about as she locates something unusual: a chamber filled nicely with a series of magma pools that burst out bubbles of fire into the air. A typholsion stands there idly by. Ghosts feels the sweat on his face getting heavier and heavier -- he contemplates taking another swig of water.

Kamon, meanwhile, drifts away from the group and communicates with the volcano telepathically.

As he's doing that, Ghosts and Miles attempt to communicate with Typhlosion, but he seems deep in meditation.

Blade, finally, tries to be calm about the situation involving Ghost's cursed artifacts whilst offering Zubat a swig of water [ +15HP Zubat ]. But before he can open his mouth, a loud roar is heard from inside the chamber!

Suddenly, every fire pokémon in the area begins running in fret. What just happened!? Ghosts calls out to Blade, who runs to his side inside the chambers. Kamon is up ahead, still trying to talk to the ground.

Ghosts moves on ahead with Blade trailing behind. You both reach Kamon who has been in a zen state ever since the trembling roar happened. Miles barks and points ahead, alerting you both to the massive pokémon that stares at you from above. He... is like nothing you've ever seen, and he ain't pleased.

A loud roar overtakes Grand Star as he is instantly retracted into his poké ball. Blade tries to recall the starfish, but the ball is locked. Ghosts' too... it looks like the only pokémon who can fight are the ones present: Kamon, Rawk Hawk, Miles, and a weak zubat.

You both get a closer look at the creature that stands before you in the magma bath.

You both approach... well, Ghosts does, Blade just shies away behind Ghosts's back, the guardian of the volcano, Heatran. Miles and Kamon, ever loyal, begin their techniques, but you halt them when it appears that the guardian isn't attacking whatsoever...
