As Smeargle starts painting wings on her back [ -7PP Smeargle / *Fly learned ], Bello heads over to the volbeat and attempts to ask him about a shrine. Pach, meanwhile, scampers about in search for keystones.

A few seconds later, Bell returns to you with information.

"Volbeat claims to know a lot about this place and can take us to, where he believes, this shrine is located... but he needs help finding Illumise."

Goku, use a Flamethrower, then use a Focus Blast, last use another Flamethrower all on Wormazone.

Skether takes to the skies with her newly formed wings and searches for Illumise skyward, while Pachi continues sniffing about for new things. Bello, finally, shudders her pedals and creates a sweet scent [ -5PP Bellosum ] that wafts throughout the plains, attracting some unnecessary attention from quite a few bugs.

Within seconds, you are surrounded by a kriketot, a trio of combee, and and even a butterfree; no sign of Illumise, unfortunately.

Shinsuke Volcano
This Volcanic Island - previously hidden away; can now be seen from the shore. A massive pool of magma lies deep in its center, but one can walk down quite a ways and find a variety of Fire Types enjoying the heated tunnels. Some hardier Flying Pokemon line the edges of the Volcano as well. A tall Pagoda stands on the Island as well, the only man-made structure here. If you fish from shore, Water Pokemon encounter rates are the same as for Tranquil Shores.



Rounds 60/132
You finally make it to the front of the volcano. A dusty path leads up its side, while there's also a cavern inward. Ghosts instantly turns to Miles for an explanation, which Grand Star is able to translate:

"This volcano is incredibly dangerous on the inside. I recommend taking the side path up it; however, there won't be much reward on the outside, if that's what you're looking for..."

Round 30
Almost as if he knew what Data was going to do, Zubat glares at the bot and puts a curse on it [ -5PP Zubat / Tor Data ]. Data, unsure of what just happened, fries the bat with another thunderbolt [ -15HP Zubat / -7PP Data ]. Goku, meanwhile, aims at the hybrid with another flamethrower [ -14HP Wormazone / -5PP Goku ], as Wormazone unleashes a powerful blast of electric energy on the snoozing fox [ -8HP Frost / -4PP, -1HP Wormazone ]. Said snoozing fox summons a giant ethereal bell to chime in, curing all the ailments in the battle, thus waking her up.

Zubat then spends act two summoning a powerul rainstorm over the mountain [ -7PP Zubat / Rain Dance activated ], while Frost, now awake, encourages her sapian ally in spite of the rain [ -3PP Frost ]. Goku, feeling an additional boost, lets loose with a powerful bolt of fighting energy that completely slams Wormazone into the rail car [ -24HP Wormazone / -8PP Goku ]. Wormazone is dazed for a moment as Data attempts to fry her ally -- but, somehow, is mentally blocked and unable to use the technique! Wormazone, finally ready to act, summons a powerful thunderstorm that fries Goku's body terribly [ -15HP Goku / -6PP Wormazone ].

The curse on Data is lifted as it manages to conjure up another thunderbolt that manages to knock Zubat out of the sky and into the ground [ -14HP Zubat / -7PP Data ], ending the bat's tenure. Frost gives Goku more encouragement as he weakly fires off another flamethrower [ -14HP Wormazone / -5PP Goku ], while the chimera responds with another thunder, this time targetting Frost [ -15HP Frost / -6PP Wormazone ].

Frost start off by Mimicing Goku's Flamethrower, then use [B][Flamethrower/B] on Wormazone, last use a Wish. Mastermind, use a Sunnyday, them Mimic Frost's new Flamethrower, last use a Psywave. Goku, start off with a Flamethrower, then turn him into a pile of ash with a Blast Burn, then just recharge.

Round 31
Frost thinks back to Goku using the flamethrower in the previous round before learning just how to make one of her own [ -5PP, *Flamethrower Frost ]. Meanwhile, Data chirps at the sky and wishes the sunlight to break the stormclouds up overhead, summoning the sunshine [ -5PP Data / Sunny Day activated ]. Goku then lets loose with another flamethrower, dealing much more damage than before [ -18HP Wormazone / -5PP Goku ]. Wormazone, meanwhile, fires off a frenzied blast of pure energy that engulfs both Data and Goku easily [ -8HP Goku / -8HP Data / -10PP Wormazone ].

Goku, in a rage, fires off a similar energy blast, only with fire energy supporting him. The flames easily wash over Wormazone, causing amazing damage [ -30HP Wormazone / -10PP Goku ]. Data, meanwhile, sits back and stares at Frost as she tries out her newfound flamethrower technique. The attack is much weaker, and the hot flames easily melt away the icicles that were permanently attached to her ears and whiskers, but the damage is still pretty great [ -15HP Wormazone / -9PP Frost / -5PP, *Flamethrower Data ].

Wormazone then fries Data with a swift shock wave [ -6HP Data / -3PP Wormazone ] before being struck with some of the porygon's mental waves [ -8HP Wormazone / -4PP Data ]. Frost, meanwhile, makes a wish [ -5PP Frost ] while Goku just recoops lost energy.

Round 32
You return the two pokémon not named Goku to their poké balls before commanding the fiery chimp to bring Wormazone down. As Goku readies his final attack, Wormazone, perhaps sensing her own demise, starts glowing an eerie white color. Goku, knowing what's up, instinctively leaps in front of you to absorb the ensuing blast that comes next.

Wormazone explodes, sending a powerful shockwave of energy rupturing forward -- Goku protects you from it, taking heavy damage as a result [ -10HP, -50PP Wormazone / -50HP Goku ].

Up above, Sketcher has managed to pinpoint a large bug pokémon that looks similar to Volbeat... but much more feminine.

You take a look at Goku -- his flames are weak at this point due to fatigue -- and recall him to his poké ball before summoning Data and Frost to take his place. The three of you check out the side of the mountain once more to take a look around you. The view is incredible, and you can see nearly everything in the Safari Zone.

Data, meanwhile, stares at the fallen chimera and attempts to link with her. The bugbot, despite being unconscious, still has some memory in her. Data spits out a USB cord that connects with a hidden port on Wormazone's back.

Data attempts to retrieve some data -- this could take awhile.

Rounds 61/133
Blade recalls Thunderhand (to prevent heatstroke) as he and Ghosts follow Miles into the volcano's cavern. Immediately upon entering, the both of you start sweating bullets. Even Grand Star is having trouble coping with the heat. The starfish spurts out a blast of water to keep itself cool, but the most of it just evaporates instantly.

The both of you wipe your respective brows as you continue through the chasm, spotting a river of fire nearby. A chimchar and a magby are playing beside it.

Mastermind (have I really been calling it Data for the past few rounds!?) finishes downloading all the data, but still can't understand it just yet -- it needs to be able to translate it, and that could take a bit. The blue duckbot starts the translation process as you continue to look around.

You head back into the rail car, but it seems that in the battle, the controls for it were fried. Looks like you're gonna hafta head down the mountain on foot now.

As the heat continues to beat down upon your features, the both of you take another swig from your water bottles before continuing deeper into the volcano, following the magma and trusting Miles' judgment.

Deeper and deeper into Shinsuke, you feel the earth beneath your feet start to rumble! A fireball shoots out of a pass a few feet ahead -- a zubat slams into the wall as a result, instantly fainting.

Volbeat, very eager to get back to his bride, hovers ahead to show you the way to the mystical shrine. Excitedly, you and your pokémon give chase.

After nearly twenty minutes of walking, Volbeat brings you to a waterfall overlooking a crystal-clear lake, and points to it. You see several pokémon, including a pidgey, a ralts, and a zigzagoon drinking from the spring.
