You thank Volbeat for his time as he speeds off to spend some... special... time... with his ladyfriend. As you spend the next few minutes white-washing that image out of your head, you and your pokémon wander around the lake, trying not to disturb anyone.

You begin to wonder just where this shrine is meant to be until you take a better look at the waterfall -- it appears that there's a hidden pathway inside.

Round 9
Carefully, you head towards the waterfall and, lightly stepping across the wet rocks, you leap passed the wall of water and into a cavern. You call out to your pokémon to come in -- Bello and Pachi are the first ones to come, while Sketcher flies overhead. However, the water washes away her wings and she plops on the floor.

Paying it no mind, you look to your north -- the cavern is dark, and Bello's speed dwindles due to lack of sunlight -- you see a few zubats hanging upside-down on the ceiling. The odd thing, though, is that you can still see, which must mean that there's light in here somewheres...

Skether, denounced by the loss of her wings, begins painting a new thing into existance: a flashlight. She holds on to it for a few seconds before bashing it with her hand, turning the light on.

Several more zubats wake up and squeak loudly as they flutter about. Not the best idea, perhaps? You run through the gauntlet of bats until there is no more. The supposed light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter.

You reach the end of the tunnel behind the waterfall and enter a large, white room. It's... oddly peaceful and quiet. In the center of the room lies a tall, sapphire obelisk standing straight up -- almost ten feet in length. Could this be the shrine you were looking for?

Shinsuke Volcano
This Volcanic Island - previously hidden away; can now be seen from the shore. A massive pool of magma lies deep in its center, but one can walk down quite a ways and find a variety of Fire Types enjoying the heated tunnels. Some hardier Flying Pokemon line the edges of the Volcano as well. A tall Pagoda stands on the Island as well, the only man-made structure here. If you fish from shore, Water Pokemon encounter rates are the same as for Tranquil Shores.


Rounds 63/135
Blade takes the fallen zubat in his arms and begins cradling it. Ghosts smirks wildly at the thought of Blade the matron as Rawk places his fingertips on the bat's temples. Within a few seconds, Zubat feels oddly refreshed and ready to take on anything [ -10PP Rawk Hawk ]... almost.

You continue further with Zubat still resting in Blade's arms.

You call for both Slaps and Sirius this time, who aim at the door with the intent to take it down. After a few seconds of charging, a wild blast of energy from both parties crashes into the door, managing to send it into a wall and shatter into a few pieces [ -10PP Sirius / -10PP Mr. Slaps ].

The house looks empty from the outside, and Trill awakens from all the comotion.

As you slowly climb down, you spot a pair of pidgeotto, one shiny, one regular-colored, sailing in the air downwards. On the inside of the mountain path is a piplup sliding down on her belly.

You place your hand on the obelisk, fishing for some sort of reaction. A few seconds after your touch, several glyphs start to glow -- five, in total. One looks to be a circle, while the others are more unusual: a blade, a helmet, a stone, and a... flame.

Sketcher, meanwhile, begins painting what appears to be a pair of thick-framed glasses. She smirks upon their completion, and puts them on her head [ -7PP, *Psychic Sketcher ].

The two of you seperate briefly, with Blade asking Monferno a few questions, and Ghosts following Miles around as she searches for clues.

Rawk Hawk communicates with the fiery sapian:

"I'm not sure what you mean? Gar-bage? A skull cap and a... that tail! Why does he have that tail!?"

Miles continues to sniff about as she locates something unusual: a chamber filled nicely with a series of magma pools that burst out bubbles of fire into the air. A typholsion stands there idly by. Ghosts feels the sweat on his face getting heavier and heavier -- he contemplates taking another swig of water.

You take out a sketch book and jot down the symbols that you were meant to retrieve, while Skether closes her eyes and blindly paints on the grass below an image from the fore [ -3PP Sketcher ].

After nearly ten minutes, she finishes up: it's a drawing of Pachi! She's got something in her mouth, but what?

You look around to note that Pachi herself has gone missing. The bushes shudder for a few moments before she emerges from them with a token in her mouth. Gleefully, you run up to the squirrel as she presents it to you...

It's... a banana peel.

Hahaha... Was the banana good, Pachi? (I will put the banana peal in to a plastic lunch bag from my pack. SOMEHOW, I don't think THIS was the item we were looking for).

You politely take the banana peel (ew...) and put it in a plastic bag before leaving the hidden chamber behind the waterfall.

You wander through the cold corridors, avoiding the zubat and golbat that sleep above you before exiting the waterfall cavern. Sketcher leaps through the wall of water, just barely avoiding getting her special glasses and flashlight wet, while the other pokémon casually walk through it, eager to enjoy the water.

Bello begins basking in the sunlight once more, feeling refreshed. Up ahead, you spot a skiploom lofting in the air casually.

Kamon, meanwhile, drifts away from the group and communicates with the volcano telepathically.

As he's doing that, Ghosts and Miles attempt to communicate with Typhlosion, but he seems deep in meditation.

Blade, finally, tries to be calm about the situation involving Ghost's cursed artifacts whilst offering Zubat a swig of water [ +15HP Zubat ]. But before he can open his mouth, a loud roar is heard from inside the chamber!

Suddenly, every fire pokémon in the area begins running in fret. What just happened!? Ghosts calls out to Blade, who runs to his side inside the chambers. Kamon is up ahead, still trying to talk to the ground.
