(2/16) If you wanted to travel somewhere this summer that was far away from where you live, where would you want to go? As for the province/state you live in, in your opinion, what draws tourists to your town/city?

For me, I'd probably want to go to Maine again if I could, as I haven't been there in years. When it comes to people visiting this little island I live on in Canada, well, the thing I think attracts tourists the most is the red soil and Anne of Green Gables, our beaches are pretty good here (including one that has a nice bridge you can cross, although some people like to jump off the bridge into the water below in the summer; it's not for me since I'm not much of a swimmer anymore). Besides that, well, it'd be nice if I could meet at least one TPMer here someday on my provincial turf, although I'm guessing the odds of that are probably a bit on the slim side.

I'm not going to travel again for what's left of the summer, but next spring I'm planning to go further than I've ever been before. The institute where I'm studying Chinese is planning a trip to China for the students!

My city attracts people mostly for its cultural activities, its night life (which I'm not interested in), and because it's as cosmopolitan as it gets. It's also particularly attractive to gay tourists for its general gay-friendliness.

One of my housemates is adamant that we're going abroad this year. So far we've swung between Japan, Peru, Argentina and somewhere I've forgotten because it was over £1000 (albeit an all inclusive five star hotel which apparently gives you a grand to use in their casino on-site facilities). Like I said, she's pretty certain we're going to be going away, it's just a case of figuring out where. Very tempted to push for Japan.

Devon as a whole is pretty, has lots of countryside and the sea. Where I am doesn't get too bad but all the seaside villages get swamped.

Japan. Not just a little trip, though. I wanna see Tokyo, Kyoto, Okinawa, and Hokkaido. I want to take the bullet train everywhere. I want to participate in festivals and see the sakura blossoms. As for Birmingham, not a lot to see. Downtown has a good art museum, as well as the Civil Rights Museum and Sixteenth Street Baptist Church. Talledega isn't too far, which is a major stop for NASCAR fans. A lot of students come to Birmingham for UAB, which is renowned for its medical programs. Football season has people go to Tuscaloosa for UA games and Birmingham holds several games for other colleges.

If I wanted to travel, it would probably be Australia. A lot of my friends have family have been there in the past little while and all I hear is great stories from that area, which makes me want to go even more... As for Ottawa, the city I currently live in, the fact that it is Canada's national capital, along with the rideau canal, the worlds largest ice skating rink, it makes for interesting things to see!

Australia to hang out with DK and his girlie! And Crazy. And Ayay. And Andrew! And to box a kangaroo and pet a koala and throw a boomerang and hike around Ayers and hunt crocs and dingoes with Aboriginies AND play Ultimate Frisbee in Brisbane SINCE THEY HAVE AN ULTIMATE LEAGUE OMFG!!!!

If not there, then Singapore, I got friends out there that I need to visit.

As for why people come here...uhh...yeah I'm just gonna post this again. Cause it just rules.

Yup, I currently work for a biotech company. We are trying to make the flu vaccine into a pill or into something that can be kept at room temp for shipping to warm countries. I like it, definitely gonna end up going back to school though so I can get a better job. I'm pretty much a research tech, but I'd like to make my way to be high up there... As for Dream job though, I'd love to be a zamboni driver in the NHL lol...

I work as a teacher at university, and I love teaching. It gets complicated, though, because the pay is really low and there's no job stability (I have to participate in contests every year to decide who gets to keep the job), and every semester I get different assistant teachers, so I have to show them the ropes every time, and there's always something that goes wrong. But I still love teaching nonetheless.

Yes. I am a Diamond Grader. I hate it. Its a really oxymoronical job and its too heavily dependent on perfection, something I am not keen on at all. My Dream job would be paleontology, and I'm working on it (in a rather roundabout way), but there's also stand up comedy (Which is becoming more fruitful...)

I am currently umemployed although I do small stuff for money like technical support for family members and baking cookies. It doesn't bring in a lot of dough (har har), but I make my own hours. My dream job would be as a game writer at a well-known company, since I seem to be good at writing without needing to go through college for a degree in English.
