G’day, ladies and gents! Welcome to Indigo Stadium, an arena entirely bereft of newbie-owning icy lakes. Today, veteran Chaos will be taking on newbie CutsiePie in a quickie 1 on 1. Who will win? Who will lose? Without any icy lakes, it’s anybody’s game!

Chaos summons a punchy humanshape Pogey into the fray while CutsiePie, on the other hand, goes for a cute widdle blob of adorable. Let’s do this!

Hitmonchan is the first to strike, using his Iron Fist ability to pump up his punchy prowess. Uh-oh. Igglybuff doesn’t look so confident. With excellent dexterity, Hitmonchan darts and weaves toward Igglybuff and hoists her up with his boxing gloves. He then tosses her up into the air and, as though spiking a volleyball, he leaps and punches her skyward. Screaming and flailing continually as she flies up toward the stadium lights, Igglybuff quickly reaches the apex of her flight before coming barreling down. However, she picks up speed and momentum as she hones in on her target. Igglybuff manages to control her descent until she lands with a crash, colliding directly with Hitmonchan’s head. The dazed fighter crumples and Igglybuff giggles. That was fun!

Seeing stars, Hitmonchan pulls himself up to his feet. Okay! Let’s do this! His fist begins to glow green and he leans down toward Igglybuff and strikes her with a close-range Drain Punch. As the puffball’s health diffuses into his body, Hitmonchan nonetheless looks on in horror, realizing the little munchkin has caught his fist! Countering the attack, Igglybuff taps into some bizarre reserve of physical strength and hoists Hitmonchan over her head. Yikes! How is she doing this! With a grunt, she tosses Hitmonchan to the ground. Ow.

Igglybuff: <-16 HP; -7 EP>

Okay, let’s try this again! Picking up momentum, Hitmonchan beelines it right for Igglybuff and strikes her with a super-speedy jab; however, much like last time, she catches his fist and tosses him away. As he hits the ground, Hitmonchan finds himself dazed in a new way. He looks toward Igglybuff, hearts filling his eyes. Looks like somebody has come down with an acute case of love!

The next round begins as Hitmonchan is instructed to create a Substitute. However, the punchy Pogey doesn’t seem particularly interested in this course of action. Instead, toeing the ground bashfully, he chooses to recite a love sonnet for the squishy pink object of his affection. Well, that’s, um, something. Igglybuff retaliates with a creative outlet of her own. She sings a sweet little tune that lulls Hitmonchan into a deep slumber. Legs buckling, Hitmonchan hits the ground and sleeps.

Hitmonchan: <Can’t move!; Slp>
Igglybuff: <-4 EP>

Igglybuff bounces in joy. Yaaaay! The big bad boxer is down for the count! However, before she can fully celebrate, an eruption of noise bursts out of Hitmonchan’s nostrils. The sonic wave crashes with Igglybuff, sending her flying into the stadium wall. Unsticking herself from the wall, Igglybuff puffs herself up in annoyance and marches over toward Hitmonchan. Closing her eyes, she establishes a mental link with her slumbering foe and begins sucking back his good dreams, leaving only the nightmares behind. Hitmonchan whimpers in his sleep, feebly pawing with his gloves at some invisible assailant.

Woah. That’s some dark magical shit for such a cute little puffball.

Igglybuff: <-4 HP; +8 HP; -8 EP>

Rubbing her belly after om-nom-noming all those delicious dreams, Igglybuff figures it’s time seconds! However, a second explosive Snore prevents that from happening. The force of the attack rockets Jigglypuff into the wall again, but this time fear and shock keep her immobilized. She decides to stay put for the time being.

How long can Chaos’s Hitmonchan survive in this battle when he’s not even awake? Not long, Igglybuff hopes, but her train of thought is abruptly derailed when yet another explosive Snore attacks rocks her back into the stadium wall. Dude! There are little nose strip thingies you can buy for that kind of thing, you know! Inflating herself with annoyance, Igglybuff marches over and begins devouring the slumbering Hitmonchan’s dreams. He whimpers in his sleep.

Igglybuff: <-4 HP; +8 HP; -8 EP>

All of a sudden, Hitmonchan awakens with a start. Yay! Consciousness once again! However, Igglybuff doesn’t like the looks of this. Intent on sending the Punching Pokemon back into a world of nightmares, Igglybuff begins singing the same dulcet notes that put him to sleep in the first place. Hitmonchan scoffs. Not this time! Despite his ongoing infatuation with Igglybuff, he nonetheless erects a glistening pink barrier around his body, protecting himself from the melody. Instead, the notes reverberate and bounce back to Igglybuff, filling her ears with her own pleasant tune. Time to sleep? Yeah. Definitely.

While Igglybuff sleeps, Hitmonchan finds a nearby Soda Pop can tossed by one of the members of the audience. Closing his eyes, he bypasses Attraction yet again and forges a mental link with the can so that he can funnel some of his health into it. Just like that, his Substitute his made. Unaware of this, Igglybuff rolls over in her sleep, dreaming of marshmallows.

Igglybuff lets out a sleepy whimper, unaware the next round is about to begin. Hitmonchan kicks things off by… writing Igglybuff a love sonnet? That’s not strategy! Suddenly, Igglybuff lets off an explosive Snore to rival Hitmonchan’s in strength. It hits the Substitute, causing a crack to drive itself down the can. Uh-oh.

Igglybuff: <-2 EP>

Skipping forth, Hitmonchan raises his Iron Fist and bashes Igglybuff silly with one wild Drain Punch. As the move makes contact, health begins to trickle from the sleeping puffball to Hitmonchan. He bangs his fists together in joy. Another rousing Snore tears through the air, but once again, the Soda Pop can Substitute takes the hit.

All of a sudden, Igglybuff stirs and bounces to her feet, feeling suddenly rejuvenated. Of course, that wonderful feeling is cut short as a second Drain Punch smokes her right in the face, sending her bouncing all the way across the field like a tumbleweed. Pulling herself to her feet, Igglybuff takes one look at that silly little can and raises it into the air with some invisible psionic waves. Ooh, what fancy hocus pocus! Suddenly, she begins mangling it, even shredding it in half. The broken pieces fall to the ground. Effective.

Suddenly, Hitmonchan gives his head a shake and finds himself no longer infatuated. He cheers in delight.

With both fighters approaching even health, it’s still anybody’s game. Hitmonchan is the first to strike, walloping the little marshmallow with an artful Drain Punch. Mmm, health! Tears begin to well in little Igglybuff’s eyes and she lets out an ear-splitting scream. Suddenly, a red glow envelops Hitmonchan’s body as he’s hoisted into the air as if by invisible machinery. Igglybuff gives her little hands a wave and propels her fighter into the stadium wall. The crowd gives a gasp as Hitmonchan slides down the wall to the ground. Uh-oh. Looks like someone’s defences were compromised.

Hitmonchan: <-14 HP; +7 HP; -6 EP; -1 SpD>
Igglybuff: <-14 HP; -7 EP>

Ahh, both our fighters are dead even in terms of health! How cool! In a rapid blitz, they repeat their last actions, with Hitmonchan socking Igglybuff right in the kisser in a bid to steal some more health while Igglybuff flails Hitmonchan around like a ragdoll using another Psychic attack. With a grunt, she slams him into the ground mercilessly.

When he gets up, hearts blossom in his eyes. Not. This. Again.

Igglybuff: <-14 HP; -7 EP>

With both fighters circling the drain, it’s impossible to tell at this point who will fall first. Though Hitmonchan is the faster of the two, battling infatuation has proven to be a tricky task for the wiry Fighting-type. Can he do it? Can he overcome his Attraction and bring an end to this fight once and for all?

After a moment, we have our answer. Growling, Hitmonchan gives his head a shake and springs toward Igglybuff. He hoists up his squirming foe with one fist while letting her have it with the other. She flies into the air and lands on the ground, unmoving. I believe, ladies and gents, it’s over.
