Good day ladies, gents and children of all ages! Welcome to Pewter Gym, home to the hard-as-rocks Leader known as Brock. In his absence, a fiery Pokemon battle between MLG and Mushroom will go down today! Yay! I’m simply beside myself with excitement!

MLG and Mushroom take to the field, exchanging Dirty Harry-esque stares. The former tosses his ball amidst the pebbles, summoning a dark little imp with bright highlights onto the field. Mushroom retaliates by summoning her go-to Mudkip, which burbles in joy as he takes his place. Alright, you two! Let’s do this!

Loki Black is the first to strike. With no warning, the little Sneasel dekes left, dekes right and then darts forward with intense speed. He slashes out at Blueburger unexpectedly, dealing a little damage and catching the little mud fishy off-guard. Left in a stupor, there’s not really much Blueburger can do at this point but stare.

Loki Black: <-2 EP>
Blueburger: <-4 HP; Fln>

Pleased with himself for having deterred his foe thusfar, Loki Black decides to celebrate with a little dance. Pirouette here, sissonne there and… bam! The little urchin can feel his stats take a turn for the better. Nice! Blueburger, either to show his stuff, darts forward and lashes out with a rather rude kick to the shins. It’s not the most powerful strike in the world, but for whatever reason, Loki Black really seems to be feeling the pain.

Loki Black: <-12 HP; -4 EP; +2 Att>
Blueburger: <-4 EP>

Loki Black bides his time as Blueburger stampedes forth for the next strike. Blueburger rams into the Sharp Claw Pokemon at top speed, dealing mega-damage; however, being a crafty little bugger, Loki Black uses Blueburger’s momentum against him and heaves the little Mudkip into one of the larger boulders nearby. Blueburger crumples, devastated by that gargantuan blow. Loki Black similarly hunches over, panting. What a way to start a match.

As the next round begins, Loki Black appears to be leading by a hair’s breadth. With his eyes on the prize, Loki Black erects a silvery barrier that hovers before him as he does a quick little spin on the spot. Suddenly, three Sneasel clones pop out of nowhere. Blueburger blinks. Clearly, the little Mudkip was not expecting this sort of tactic. Hesitant, he slowly approaches one of the four Sneasels and bounces into it. The thing vanishes. Blueburger does a double take. What is this tomfoolery?

Loki Black: <-8 EP; Rft; 2 clones>
Blueburger: <-10 EP>

Loki Black snickers as Blueburger peers from Sneasel to Sneasel to Sneasel without any way to find out which is the real deal! With those wicked talons, aptly-named Sharp Claw Pokemon delivers Blueburger one hell of a violent slash. Blueburger stumbles back, collapsing into a rock. Frig! This thing is tough! Hopping to his feet, Blueburger goes for a second Superpower but once again can’t seem to get anything but clone. Ugh.

Loki Black: <-6 EP; 1 clone>
Blueburger: <-14 HP; -10 EP>

As Loki Black bides his time, eyeing his foe, Blueburger goes for his third Superpower. With renewed determination, the Mudkip decides it’s weasel-hunting time and rams himself into one of the two remaining Sneasels. This time his attempt is met with success as Loki Black is tossed onto a bed of pebbles; however, the attack appears to have done significantly less damage than it did last round. His last dutiful clone vanishes.

Hmmm... it hasn't really been working so far but I'm sure if we stick to the strategy it'll work soon enough.

Hey, you might wanna switch to special attacks at some point there Mushroom. Seeing that I have a Reflect up (that halfs physical attacks) and your Superpower decreases your attack (and defense).

However, good call on that counter-sub!

Mud Slap in his eyes! Then Dynamicpunch it hard, hopefully the confusion and mud will mess with the counter-sub. Finish with Dark Pulse.

Sitting pretty behind his Reflect, Loki Black smirks at the Mudkip confidently. Scooping up a little bit of mud off the ground, the devious Sneasel flings it at his foe where it strikes him right in the eye. Eurgh! Blueburger wipes as much of the mud from his face as he can and grimaces. Reverting to a previous tactic, Blueburger propels himself forward with a single bound and lands upon Loki Black. However, the Reflect once again diminishes a good deal of the attack’s potential while further crippling Blueburger’s offensive and defensive prowess.

Loki Black: <-10 HP; -2 EP>
Blueburger: <-2 HP; -10 EP; -1 Acc; -1 Att; -1 Def>

Loki Black sprints in and absolutely friggin’ clobbers Blueburger with a ridiculously strong Dynamicpunch to the gut. However, despite the way Blueburger’s head is spinning, the tiny Mudkip has managed to get a firm grasp on Loki Black’s extended fist. Then, with tremendous strength, Blueburger hoists up Loki Black by the fist and hurls him into one of the nearby boulders. Woah! That little mudskipper has guns! However, the Countered attack does… less than the original Dynamicpunch? That doesn’t make sense! (*whips out handy-dandy calculator*) Times two, carry the one and… okay, yeah, it does. There you go.

Suddenly, a blue glow envelops Blueburger’s frame. Loki Black gulps. Lookie there, guys! It’s Torrent!

Loki Black: <-14 HP; -8 EP>
Blueburger: <-17 HP; -8 EP; Torrent; Con>

In a bid to keep the Torrent-powered Mudkip at bay, Loki Black fires off a concentrated black beam that knocks Blueburger onto his bottom. Suddenly, the Mudkip decides to retaliate by… banging his head against a nearby rock? Um, well, fingers crossed that strategy works out for you, buddy!

Suddenly, Loki Black’s Reflect fizzles out. Feeling a little naked, there, weasel boy?

As we enter the next round, things are looking particularly rough for poor Blueburger. Not only have his health and stats seen better days, but he’s presently trying to engage in deep philosophical debate with a funny-looking rock. Loki Black grins malevolently and prepares for… Punishpunch! (The speech therapy-attending child within me is shaking his fist at you, MLG.) With artful grace, the Sneasel flips through the air with his fist outstretched. Blueburger tells his rock friend that he’ll BRB and turns to Loki Black as though bracing himself in preparation for a Counter, but the attack connects with two much sudden strength for that to be a possibility. Loki Black lands fist-first upon Blueburger. The Mudkip crumples.

And that, I believe, is the match.
