Will *cringe* ref. Not a fan of battles like these, but I feel like this match won't ever get picked up otherwise.

Just to keep things straightforward, moves like Earthquake and Blizzard can only take one target. Does that sound doable to you guys? I feel like this will reduce headaches on my part, given your "no ganging up or you pay the price" rule.

(Also, can I have your Deerlings' genders, Ayeun?)

Yeh I have got no problem with those mulitmoves either, probably makes this match a bit fairer.

Anyway my choice of pokemon are as follows, grass assembly meet the Bug Blitz.

    Crayk (M) | Twinmold (M) | Manexxa (F) | Serenity (F)
Sturdy | Quick Feet | Unnerve | Flame Body

Ok guys since Manexxa's Unnerve will pretty much guarantee that they are frozen in place for their first action, lets take advantage of that.

Crayk, I want you to take Autumn. Hit her with an Attract, then go with 2 X-scissors.

Twinmold, go fight Spring. Also launch an Attract at her then hit with 2 Sludge Bombs, try and poison it.

Manexxa, your target will be Winter. While he is Unnerved hit him with an Attract, followed up by 2 Bug Buzz's.

Serenity, since you are a firefly your target shall be Summer. Since they will be Unnerved I want you to set up a Safeguard around the team quick as you can. Then hit Summer with 2 Flamethrowers.

    Crayk: Attract ~ X-Scissor x2 (Autumn)
Twinmold: Attract ~ Sludge Bomb x2 (Spring)
Manexxa: Attract ~ Bug Buzz x2 (Winter)
Serenity: Safeguard ~ Flamethrower x2 (Summer)

Woot... This will be crazy fun.

All 4 of you, Double team first up.

Then, target those that are targeting you, and use twin Take downs!

    Autumn @ Crayk
    Spring @ Twinmold
    Winter @ Manexxa
    Summer @ Firefly.

All: Double team ~ Take down ~ Take down

    ‡ Round 1 ‡

Ahh, nature! What’s not to love about it? Okay, yeah, sunburns… and bug bites… seasonal allergies are sorta a drag… and then there’s that latent panic you get from not checking your Facebook every thirty minutes. Mhm, fine, there are a lot of things not to like. But you know what totally rocks about nature?

It serves as the perfect background for a friggin’ POGEYMON BATTLE! Whoop whoop!

Today, two ASB vets square of in some generically chipper locale in the middle of nowhere known as Sunshine Fields. On one side, we have Ayeun, Grass Trainer Extraordinaire. On the other, we have CEB, who owns basically every single Pokemon under the sun. Which of these excellent trainers will end up taking home the victory? Let’s find out!

The trainers raise four Pokeballs in unison and make their selections. Suddenly, flashes of red light galore mark the entrance of not one, not two, but eight Pokemon on the battlefield at once! Egads! Ayeun stands confidently behind her little assembly of seasonal deerthings while CEB commands a (*consults Bulbapedia*) Dwebble, Venipede, Joltik and Larvesta. Golly, I can’t say I envy the dumbass ref who signed up to oversee this fracas, except OHSNAPTHAT’SME. Time to get this show on the road!

The battle begins as Manexxa shoots Unnerving looks at the nearest Deerlings, intimidating them into inaction. However, Summer, who isn’t particularly close to Manexxa and is presently more concerned with the friggin’ firebug standing nearby, doesn’t seem to notice. She does a little hop on the spot and generates three clones. Yay, now this match is a 7 on 4! Exactly what I wanted!

Time for the Bugs to spring into action. Manexxa, Twinmold and Crayk all begin making hideous insectoid kissy faces at Winter, Spring and Autumn respectively. Eurgh. I don’t even want to imagine the unholy deerbug spawn that would arise from this little orgy. The attempts at Attraction work to perfection, causing Ayeun’s Deerlings to succumb to L-O-V-E. Meanwhile, Serenity tosses up a pale veil of energy that settles over her team, coating them with a glimmery sheen of protective goodness. Yay!

    Autumn: <Fln; Atr>
    Spring: <Fln; Atr>
    Winter: <Fln; Atr>
    Summer: <-4 EP; 3 clones>

    Crayk: <-4 EP; Sgd>
    Twinmold: <-4 EP; Sgd>
    Manexxa: <-4 EP; Sgd>
    Serenity: <-4 EP; Sgd>

Autumn, Spring and Winter exchange knowing looks and decide seven ain’t enough. Let’s go for… sixteen! The three Sap Sippers leap in tandem and bring an entire friggin’ herd of Deerlings into battle. This is insane! Summer, who is already satisfied with her posse, decides to kick it into high gear by mowing down Serenity with a rampant tackling attack. The poor buggy is squished, but the sheer reckless strength of the impact leaves quite the bump on Summer’s noggin.

The Bugs look at the rather large assembly of Deerlings and, in a panic, begin shooting out attacks in an attempt to get lucky and strike the real deal. However, they fall on hard luck: the sonic buzz, crackling flames, toxic goo and rapid cutting attacks they respectively manage to generate all strike uselessly through clones, reducing the herd’s numbers by four. Autumn, Spring, Winter and Summer breathe sighs of relief.

    Autumn: <-4 EP; 2 clones>
    Spring: <-4 EP; 2 clones>
    Winter: <-4 EP; 2 clones>
    Summer: <-7 EP; -3 HP from recoil; 2 clones>

    Crayk: <-6 EP>
    Twinmold: <-7 EP>
    Manexxa: <-7 EP>
    Serenity: <-11 HP; -8 EP>

Pawing at the ground aggressively, the Deerlings decide that it’s attack time! However, Autumn and Winter decide they’re not entirely gung-ho about this plan. Instead, they flop down on the grass and stare with googly eyes at their hideous buggy beloveds. Um, that’s just sick. Nonetheless, Spring and Summer manage to keep their heads in the game and retaliate with an all-out assault! Their Take Downs send Twinmold and Serenity flying into a nearby tuft of dandelions.

Take two! Seeing no real reason to stray from their previous tactic, CEB’S Buggies decide to give their attacks another go. At first, it does not seem like a success: the Bug Buzz, Flamethrower and Sludge Bombs all take out imitation Deerlings. Manexxa, Serenity and Twinmold scowl in frustration. Fortunately, Crayk scores better luck. He scuttles up to the orangeish Deerling and slashes with his itsy-bitsy pincers. The attack causes Autumn to wail in pain and her clones vanish on the spot. Love hurts.

    Autumn: <-14 HP; Can’t move!; 0 clones>
    Spring: <-7 EP; -3 HP from recoil; 1 clone>
    Winter: <Can’t move!; 1 clone>
    Summer: <-7 EP; -3 HP from recoil; 1 clone>

    Crayk: <-6 EP>
    Twinmold: <-11 HP; -7 EP>
    Manexxa: <-7 EP>
    Serenity: <-11 HP; -8 EP>

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

    TEAM AYEUN

    TEAM CEB

Ok guys I want you to wait till they have all used their double team (or if they are attracted their first action.)

Keep with your original targets, and since we got double damage this round lets take this opportunity to really mess things up.

Crayk I want you to Aerial Ace after the Double Team to eliminate the clones, then hit Autumn with a pair of X-scissors.
Twinmold since you are the weak link in this chain I want you to do your best and after the Double Team I want you to send a wave of Pin Missles at the clones try and destroy them as well as hitting Spring. Then hit it with 2 Sludge Bombs.
Manexxa wait for the clones and then launch a Faint Attack to hit the real Winter and hopefully destroying the rest, then use 2 Bug Buzz's.
Serenity wait for the clones as well and then use Foresight to make the real Summer appear and the clones to disappear. Follow it up with a Fireblast and a Flareblitz.

    Crayk: Aerial Ace ~ X-Scissor x2 (Autumn)
Twinmold: Pin Missile ~ Sludge Bomb x2 (Spring)
Manexxa: Faint Attack ~ Bug Buzz x2 (Winter)
Serenity: Foresight ~ Fire Blast ~ Flare Blitz (Summer)

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    TEAM AYEUN

    TEAM CEB
    x4

    ‡ Round 2 ‡

The next round begins with a bit of good fortune for Ayeun’s Deerlings. Autumn, Spring and Winter manage to momentarily clear their heads of whatever sick romantic hold Team Uber-Bug manages to wield over them. Instead, the three of them join Summer in another Double Team, bringing the deer count up to (*pulls out a calculator*) nineteen! Egads! There are entirely too many Deerlings on the field!

As it turns out, Crayk, Twinmold, Manexxa and Serenity agree with this hysterical assessment. In unison, they begin resorting to whatever tactics they can muster in order to slaughter those pesky Sap Sippers once and for all! Crayk, despite being weighed down by his shell, does a sweet aerial flip and slices through Autumn and her accomplices, knocking them out of existence. Meanwhile, Manexxa vanishes and reappears behind Winter, using the opportunity to strike down the brown Deerling and his clones. As well, Serenity’s eyes emanate crimson beams that sweep the field, passing over Summer and his posse. Though he’s physically unscathed, Summer looks on as his beautiful clones are each blighted.

However, Twinmold doesn’t seem to have such success. The Venipede unleashes a barrage of needles, but can’t seem to get them to spray out in a wide enough scope. Instead, the needles only manage to take out one of the five pink Deerlings on the field. It vanishes, leaving four left. Drat.

    Autumn: <-18 HP; -4 EP; 0 clones>
    Spring: <-4 EP; 3 clones>
    Winter: <-12 HP; -4 EP; 0 clones>
    Summer: <-4 EP; 0 clones>

    Crayk: <-4 EP>
    Twinmold: <-5 EP>
    Manexxa: <-4 EP>
    Serenity: <-4 EP>

Spring and Winter fleetingly consider mowing down their foes with a powerful Take Down attack, but instead sigh and wistfully imagine holding hands (or hooves, or legs, or whatever) with their buggy beloveds and growing old with them. Aww! Autumn and Summer, however, keep their focus. The two Deerlings strike Crayk and Serenity with Take Downs. However, though their attacks don’t have quite the effect they desire. Crayk’s rocky shell protects him from a good deal of damage; additionally, Serenity’s red-hot exoskeleton Burns Summer upon contact this time. Oh no! And then, of course, there’s the recoil from such a reckless assault. Walk it off.

With the herd noticeably thinned, the Bugs decide to continue their offensive barrage. Crayk scuttles forward and hits Autumn with another X-Scissor while Manexxa’s sonic assault gives Winter something to gripe about. Serenity breathes out a fiery ideogram that strikes Summer hard, aggravating that Burn of hers further. However, Twinmold doesn’t have such luck: his Sludge Bomb passes through one of Spring’s clones, causing it go ka-put. The real Spring simply continues staring at her Buggy foe with those large wovey-dovey eyes. Twinmold mutters.

    Autumn: <-28 HP; -4 HP from recoil; -7 EP>
    Spring: <Can’t move!; 2 clones>
    Winter: <-32 HP; Can’t move!>
Summer: <-40 HP; -6 HP from recoil; -7 EP; Brn>

    Crayk: <-12 HP; -6 EP>
    Twinmold: <-7 EP>
    Manexxa: <-7 EP>
    Serenity: <-22 HP; -10 EP>

It’s Autumn’s turn this time around to go all gaga. As she begins composing a love poem to Crayk (affectionately known as “Ode to Eye Stalks”), her three Deerling chums ready their assault. They approach Twinmold, Manexxa and Larvesta and go all-out with Double Kicks! However, the Fighting-type attacks don’t do very much damage against the three Bugs. Twinmold, whose double resistance to Fighting grants him additional protection against the move, does a little jump for joy. Finally, something seems to be going his way!

The Bug-type battalion counters with their usual onslaught of attacks. Crayk’s X-Scissor, Manexxa’s Bug Buzz and Serenity’s Flare Blitz all find their targets. Once again, Twinmold’s Sludge Bomb eats clone. My, what is a poor Venipede to do?

    Autumn: <-28 HP; Can’t move!>
    Spring: <-4 EP; 1 clone>
    Winter: <-32 HP; -4 EP>
    Summer: <-40 HP; -4 EP>

    Crayk: <-6 EP>
    Twinmold: <-4 HP; -7 EP>
    Manexxa: <-6 HP; -7 EP>
    Serenity: <-6 HP; -10 HP from recoil; -10 EP>

    Summer’s Burn sizzles <-6 HP>.

Crayk: X-Scissor x3 at Autumn (If Double Team happens use Aerial Ace and if she faints then Relax)

    ‡ Round 3 ‡

With three of the four Deerlings on the field panting like there’s no tomorrow, it seems like this match might be as good as over. Or is it? All of a sudden, Autumn, Winter and Summer break out in raucous song! (Not Spring, of course, who is presently batting her lashes vapidly at Twinmold.) With these three melodies occurring in tandem, their effects are explosive. Autumn’s and Winter’s Rounds strike Serenity with ridiculous force, knocking the Larvesta out of this match just like that. Summer’s song connects with Twinmold, sending the squirming Buggy tumbling back into the trunk of a tree. He gets back up in a daze. What an upset!

Mourning the loss of their comrade, Manexxa, Twinmold and Crayk get down to business. First, Manexxa kicks up an audio attack of her own, mowing down Winter with the acoustic effects of her insectoid buzzing while depleting the last of his health. Next, Twinmold turns his sights upon Summer and cuts loose with a detonation of noxious goo. The sticky attack smokes him right in the chest, bringing the Sap Sipper to an unceremonious defeat. Finally, Crayk scuttles forth and lashes out at Autumn with his wee little orange claws, causing the orange Deerling to crumple.

The three Deerlings lie immobile on the field without so much as twitching. Ahh! It’s Bambi all over again!

    Autumn: <-8 HP; -4 EP>
    Spring: <-4 EP; Can't move!>
    Winter: <-24 HP; -4 EP>
    Summer: <-2 HP; -4 EP>

    Crayk: <-6 EP>
    Twinmold: <-28 HP; -7 EP>
    Manexxa: <-7 EP>
    Serenity: <-40 HP>

All on her lonesome, Spring tries to keep her hopes up by singing a rousing Round of "Frčre Jacques"… with her clone? Yeah, good luck with that. Without her allies, the attack’s effects on Twinmold are negligible at best. The three remaining Bug-type badasses exchange confused looks. With all their intended targets taken out, what do they do? Just sit on their hands for the rest of the round?

Not likely. Smiling wickedly, the three of them turn on the last remaining Deerling. Manexxa starts with a Bug Buzz which strikes Spring with great precision, dealing damage while also causing the pink Deerling’s clone to vanish on the spot. With the correct target made clearly visible to them, Twinmold and Crayk subject Spring to the combined effects of a Sludge Bomb and an X-Scissor. Just like that, she’s launched a great distance into the air. She collides with the earth with a resounding thud.

    Spring: <-92 HP; -4 EP; 0 clones>

    Crayk: <-6 EP>
    Twinmold: <-16 HP; -7 EP>
    Manexxa: <-7 EP>

Rinse and repeat. Spring just barely pulls herself onto her hooves and croaks her way through a final Round, but this admirable effort is nonetheless futile. Buzzing loudly, Manexxa finishes her off with one last sonic assault. This time, as the powerful attack sends Spring back down to the ground, it becomes painfully clear she isn’t about to get back up.

So. Anybody up for venison tonight?

    Spring: <-5 HP; -4 EP>

    Twinmold: <-16 HP>
    Manexxa: <-7 EP>

Eurgh, flashing back to doing vocal rounds in elementary school... that was painful. Anyway, good match, guys! CEB wins and take home four points while Ayeun gets two. Ayeun, despite what the final health totals might lead one to suspect, you actually fought quite well considering the battle was all but decided the moment CEB selected his Pokemon. Round was a smart call. Incidentally, I receive four points as well.

    Whee!
