    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 8 ‡

    Cube Colour: Orange
    Special Attack receives a boost!

With Amethyst leading in terms of both health and stats, Spiritomb knows he’s got his work cut out for him if he wants to take home to prize. Closing his eyes, he braces himself as an Ominous Wind sweeps across the sleek orange surface of the cube. Spiritomb eats the attack and grunts, hating that little spook for stealing all his glorious stat modifiers last round. In an attempt to exact vengeance, Spiritomb goes for a swirling ball of shadows. This time, he’s met with additional success: not only does the attack strike, but it also bears the added effect of diminishing Amethyst’s Special Defence… down to normal. Well, better than nothing.

    Spiritomb: <-18 HP; -6 EP>
    Amethyst: <-12 HP; -6 EP>

Regaining composure, Amethyst charges up a concentrated pulse of Dark-type energy and cuts loose. The attack whizzes through the air and zips right on by Spiritomb's Shadow Ball as it makes its way toward the Sableye. Both Pokemon eat the attacks and wince. Gosh, being a battling Pogey is tough stuff!

    Spiritomb: <-20 HP; -6 EP>
    Amethyst: <-14 HP; -8 EP>

Changing things up this time around, Amethyst opens his mouth and sprays out a blast of water at his foe. Now dripping wet, Spiritomb blinks. Water? Really? Grunting, he decides to keep true to his strategy and toss another Shadow Ball. Amethyst catches it right in his gut.

    Spiritomb: <-16 HP; -6 EP>
    Amethyst: <-14 HP; -6 EP>

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 9 ‡

    Cube Colour: Orange
    Special Attack receives a boost!

Amethyst smirks, appearing awfully confident for someone who’s presently behind in terms of health. Does the spook of a plan, perhaps? As it turns out, he does: he races up real close to Spiritomb and starts flicking Spiritomb in the nose—or, um, in the spot where Spiritomb’s nose would otherwise me. Spiritomb gets so Tormented by the imp that he entirely forgets to attack.

    Spiritomb: <Tor; Can’t move!>
    Amethyst: <-4 EP>

Suddenly, an Ominous Wind whips up out of nowhere and sweeps across the flat, smooth surface of the Rubik’s Cube. As Spiritomb gets battered and buffeted, he cuts loose with a Shadow Ball. Amethyst feels his Special Defence drop.

    Spiritomb: <-18 HP; -6 EP>
    Amethyst: <-14 HP; -6 EP; -1 SpD>

As another mysterious gale blows in across the field, Spiritomb braces himself as best as he can and tries to hurl another swirling ball of shadows at Amethyst. However, his memory of getting flicked in the face resurfaces and his can’t quite work past the rage in order to strike.

    Spiritomb: <-18 HP; Can’t move!>
    Amethyst: <-6 EP>

Suddenly, the blocks of the Rubik's Cube start shuffling! Spiritomb and Amethyst brace themselves as the world around them tumbles and shifts and readjusts. When at last it stops, it lands on Yellow. Spiritomb and Amethyst find themselves teeming with Speed.

Amethyst Taunt him first, until successful, then use Sucker Punch the rest of the round. Magic Coat and Snatch when you can.

    ‡ Round 10 ‡

    Cube Colour: Yellow
    Speed receives a boost!

    Okay... it ends here.

As both Pokemon enjoy their bolstered Speed stats, they prepare to lay into one another with a pair of crafty tricks. However, since Amethyst is simply the faster of the two, he is the first to deliver and Taunts Spiritomb by saying he keystones are for ninnies. Growling, Spiritomb has no choice but to change his course of action and toss a ball of shadows at his oppressor... however, given his Tormented state, that's simply not an option.

    Spiritomb: <Tnt; Can't move!>
    Amethyst: <-4 EP>

Spiritomb tries to lash out with a Dark Pulse of energy this time, but Amethyst out-paces him once again: he springs forward with a cunning Sucker Punch, striking him in the face and bringing him out of the battle.

    This one is done.

    Spiritomb: <-10 HP>
    Amethyst: <-6 EP>

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

And that's that! Good match and I'm glad to get this one wrapped up. MxG and I receive four points while Jelibean gets two.

    Later!
