Default Showdown in the Crystal Palace! (Cynder vs Nsmbwii) Ref: Everybody's favourite city!

    6 vs 6 single battle

    Arena:

As seen in the 3rd pokemon movie, today's arena is the crystal palace. Entei and his 'daughter' Molly are patrolling the constantly changing crystal landscape carefully from up in the tower to the left, and will appear and attack if too much of the child's dream world is destroyed. The crystal can regenerate when damaged with ease and small amounts of damage are allowed by Entei, however large scale destruction will not be tolerated. When Entei attacks the battlers are transported to a large green field dotted with flowers with a set of crystal stairs running around the perimiter, and travelling up the stairs leads to another crystal fortress, but smaller in diameter and much higher. Only by climbing this you can get back to the original arena where the battle started.

Banned moves: None, but challenger can add them if they wish.

    DQ: 3 days.

Pretty pretty, shiny shiny. Clever idea of causing too much damage can result in you being attacked.

I'll challenge you. Do you want to choose the 1st Pokemon, or do you want to do it 2nd?

    ‡ Round 1 ‡

Good day and welcome to, um, wherever the hell we are. It looks like… a Swarovski display on LSD? Either way, this beautiful, hideous nightmare will serve as the backdrop for a battle of epic proportions between two relatively new but nonetheless well-established battlers here at ASB: Cynder and Nsmbwii. The two fiery combatants stare one another down before making their selections, summoning a silvery fox and a smiling, bipedal mantisy thingamabob into the fray. Suddenly, the sun begins blazing overhead for ostensibly no reason whatsoever. Bizarre!

The match starts as Yurei starts cooking up an exceedingly Nasty Plot. A little bit of this, a little bit of that and… presto! One diabolical scheme in the chamber, ready to fire away. However, Taylor doesn’t like the hijinks his opponent seems to be getting up to and presses his leafy arm-blades up to his lips. He blows, emitting a shrill yet nevertheless soothing whistling noise that resonates off each of the field’s crystal fineries. Taylor watches as Yurei gets lulled into a deep sleep.

    Yurei: <-4 EP; +2 SpA; Slp>
    Taylor: <-4 EP>

With Yurei temporarily incapacitated, Taylor knows he’s going to have to start preparing for the moment that fox leaps into action once more. As a result, he meditates so as to ensure his mind is in prime fighting condition for the inevitable fisticuffs. He’s gonna need it.

    Yurei: <Can’t move!>
    Taylor: <-4 EP; +1 SpA; +1 SpD>

And still, he continues to meditate. Not even the ridiculously bright sunlight can distract him now.

Yurei lets out an ugly snorey Ninetales noise, but that's about it.

    Yurei: <Can’t move!>
    Taylor: <-4 EP; +1 SpA; +1 SpD>

Alright Taylor, we are screwed as long as Yurei is around, so let's switch some cards...

Use Baton Pass, and I'll send in Sundae, my female Buneary with Limber.

Let's Dizzy Punch her, then when she's awake, use Entrainment and get rid of that Sunny Day!

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 2 ‡

As the next round begins, Taylor recognizes a lost cause and creates a bright red baton seemingly out of thin air. He tosses the baton into the air and is suddenly recalled to his Pokeball. Quickly, Nsmbwii replaces the mantis with a smiling bunny rabbit who catches the falling baton with ease. Alright, successful sub-in! Meanwhile, Yurei begins muttering in her sleep. Suddenly, she creates a silvery white veil which drapes itself over her and offers her protection.

    Yurei: <-4 EP; Sgd>
    Taylor: <-4 EP; -2 SpA; -2 SpD>

    Sundae: <Subbed in!; +2 SpA; +2 SpD>

Yurei continues Sleep Talking and begins exerting a curious sort of energy over Sundae. Just like that, the Buneary finds herself going totally immobile like a statue. Though Sundae’s confusion doesn’t register on her frozen face, she’s certainly feeling more than a little baffled.

    Yurei: <-4 EP>
    Sundae: <Can’t move!>

The Disable ends after a few moments and Sundae’s mobility is promptly restored. She gives her head a shake and, while she tests her fingers by wiggling them a bit, Yurei jolts awake. She leaps into action and begins cooking the wee Buneary with a nice, spicy Flamethrower that does a bunch of damage given the blistering weather. Deciding to put an end to the ongoing Drought, Sundae claps her hands once with authority. Suddenly, clouds roll in and obscure the sun, causing Yurei to pout. But hey, at least she's feeling awfully Limber all of a sudden!

Yurei: <-8 EP; Drought negated; Limber>
    Sundae: <-16 HP; -4 EP>

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

    Notes:

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 3 ‡

Lamenting the absence of her ability, Yurei goes for a Heat Wave but finds it just isn’t the same without some harsh sunlight to boost the attack’s power. Of course, it still does respectable damage and cooks the Buneary nicely. (Anyone up for some small game cooked extra crispy later on?) Not exactly eager to withstand another mighty Fire-type attack, Sundae claps her hands and summons roiling clouds. Raindrops spill down from the heavens and plink off the crystal formations musically. The cool water soothes Sundae’s charred skin. Ahh! Much better!

    Yurei: <-8 EP>
    Sundae: <-16 HP; -4 EP>

Yurei now decides a Flamethrower is in order, but the rain steals a lot of the move’s zip and leaves Sundae only minimally harmed. She retaliates with a sudden spurt of watery goodness which, coupled with the rain and typing and the Buneary’s rockin’ Special Attack stat, does much more damage than Yurei appreciates.

    Yurei: <-17 HP; -8 EP>
    Sundae: <-6 HP; -4 EP>

Yurei opens wide to spit out a tiny Will-O-Wisp, but Sundae is just far too speedy and sprints forth in order to lay a love-tap on the Ninetales’s snout. Yurei draws her head back and wrinkles her face, taken aback by the rudeness of that sudden strike.

    Yurei: <-6 HP>
    Sundae: <-2 EP>

Let's go with another Water Pulse, then Drain Punch her! Finish with another Water Pulse.

If she use status effects, Safeguard yourself. If she tries to switch the weather, use Rain Dance afterwards. If uses Double Team, Shock Wave her tails off!

Start off with Sunny Day, but then to cancel out the subbed Rain Dance use Will-o-Wisp, and finish off with Solarbeam if it's sunny, or Faint Attack if it isn't.

    ‡ Round 4 ‡

Yurei now turns her head up to the sky and howls, causing the raindrops to peter away at last. As the sun spills its light over the field once more, Sundae shields her eyes against the glare and does a little jig. Almost immediately, the clouds return and the plinking of water on crystal resumes.

    Yurei: <-4 EP>
    Sundae: <-4 EP>

Irked that the sun has gone away, Yurei spits out a tiny guttering flame. The little flame sizzles as it comes into contact with the rain, which hampers its progress across the field. Thus, Sundae has more than enough time to throw up a Safeguard to protect her from the Will-O-Wisp. The flame is snuffed against the silvery shroud surrounding Sundae. Yurei’s temper rises.

    Yurei: <-4 EP>
    Sundae: <-4 EP; Sgd>

With two of her strategies reduced to naught, Yurei decides to go on the offensive. She vanishes on the spot, leaving Sundae with no choice but to shrug in bewilderment. Fortunately, the Buneary doesn’t have to wait long to find out where her foe went: Yurei quickly reappears behind Sundae and lashes out with a swipe of Dark-type energy. Sundae grimaces and spews out a sudden burst of water at Yurei, whose fur at this point is absolutely soaked. She promptly begins swearing under her breath.

    Yurei: <-17 HP; -4 EP>
    Sundae: <-6 HP; -4 EP>

Wait for her to start attacking you with Faint Attack, then where she's hitting, send in a Thunderwave there. Water Pulse her, then do the same thing with Faint Attack again, only with a Water Pulse.

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 5 ‡

As the next round begins, Yurei fades away to nothing. Sundae, however, remains undeterred and waits for the fox to reappear… and she does! Yurei lashes out with a quick swipe of Dark-type energy, but Sundae simply takes the hit and retaliates with a move of her own. She discharges a crackling wave of electric current which sizzles as it strikes the fox, but besides charring a few glimmering hairs, the move does nothing. Yurei is simply too loose and Limber to succumb to this particular tactic!

    Yurei: <-4 EP>
    Sundae: <-6 HP; -4 EP>

Yurei attacks with a sudden blast of shimmering pink energy. Sundae takes the blast to the gut and stumbles backward into a solid crystal wall. Straightening, the Buneary spews out a sudden spurt of water at Yurei. Between the rain and the typing, it leaves the Fox Pokemon howling in agony.

    Yurei: <-17 HP; -6 EP>
    Sundae: <-8 HP; -4 EP>

Yurei licks her wounds before vanishing as she performs another Faint Attack. She reappears quickly enough and again lashes out. Sundae grimaces and retaliates with a second Water Pulse. Suddenly, Yurei’s world begins to go topsy-turvy as Confusion sets in.

    Yurei: <-17 HP; -4 EP; Con>
    Sundae: <-6 HP; -4 EP>

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

    Notes:

    > Okay, so I miscalculated Water Pulse's damage the last two rounds: it should be 17 HP (base power 6 + 3 for super effective + 4 for rain + 4 for Sundae's stat boosts) instead of 14, so I've gone ahead and edited the last two posts... sorry!

    ‡ Round 6 ‡

The next round kicks off as Yurei, momentarily overcoming her Confused state, howls skyward. As her voice echoes out and out, the rain comes to an end and the clouds roll away. Instead, intense sunlight floods the field and bathes everything in a hot glow. Nonetheless, Sundae fires off a beam of electricity which connects with Yurei, leaving scorch marks on her fur.

    Yurei: <-9 HP; -4 EP>
    Sundae: <-3 EP>

Though Yurei got lucky with that Sunny Day, her luck ends here, it seems: though she tries to attack, she ultimately decides to start chewing on her paw instead. Amused, Sundae squirts a sudden Water Pulse at the Ninetales, but the sizzling sunlight robs the move of a lot of its kick.

    Yurei: <-9 HP; -3 HP from Confusion>
    Sundae: <-4 EP>

Closing her eyes, Yurei again bypasses her Confusion and begins to draw in energy from the sun. Because of its brightness, Yurei is able to metabolize the sunlight at a rapid pace and soon fires off a blistering green beam of refined energy at Sundae. The Buneary takes the hit to the gut and retaliates with a second Charge Beam, this one carrying the added benefit of boosting Sundae’s Special Attack even further.

Suddenly, the strength of the attack proves to be too much: after a good fight, Yurei falls in defeat.

    Yurei: <-5 HP; -10 EP>
    Sundae: <-12 HP; -3 EP; +1 SpA>

Let's have him do an Encore with Safeguard shall we? Throw out a Fire Punch, then Fake Out.

    Abilities: Active
    DQ Time: Three days

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 7 ‡

Cynder summons Yurei back to her Pokeball and contemplates her next selection. Ultimately, she decides it’s a rookie’s time to shine and releases a hovering, circular mirror into battle. Glaucous kicks things off by going the defensive route, throwing a silvery veil over its body so as to ward off incoming status-inducers. Rather than retaliating, Sundae simply claps. Glaucous blushes (as near as a big hunk of steel can blush, anyway) and seems a little inflated by such praise.

    Glaucous: <-4 EP; Sgd; Encored>
    Sundae: <-4 EP>

As the sun continues to bathe the field in a harsh glare, Sundae zips toward Glaucous and smacks up her mirror friend with a sizzling flaming punch. Glaucous is thrown back by the intensity of this attack, but all it can think about is Sundae’s complimentary applause. Thus, Glaucous opts for a repeat performance, renewing its Safeguard.

    Glaucous: <-16 HP; -4 EP; Sgd>
    Sundae: <-6 EP>

Sundae caps off the ground by startling Glaucous with a speedy sneak attack. The Buneary smacks her opponent in the face with a light strike, leaving Glaucous blinking.

    Glaucous: <-2 HP; Fln>
    Sundae: <-2 EP>

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

Alright, Baton Pass over to Skulli, my female Custom Mienshao!

Then go for a duo of Fire Punches! If Sundae can't Baton Pass, then Sundae use two Fire Punches.

    So yeah, Sundae stays in.

Alright, take advantage of the wasted turn at the start and put Sundae to sleep with Hypnosis! Then if the Hypnosis works use Trick Room, and if not use Hypnosis again. Finish off with Dream Eater, since I'm fairly sure it'll be asleep by then. On the off chance it []isn't[/i], use Hypnosis.

    Hypnosis ~ Trick Room/Hypnosis ~ Dream Eater/Hypnosis

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 8 ‡

As the next round begins, Sundae tries in vain to conjure up a baton much like the one she caught as she entered into battle, but can’t seem to get the technique down. Glaucous, meanwhile, swoops in with its eyes glowing pink. Sundae foolishly makes eye contact with the eerie hovering mirror and finds herself slowly whisked away to a world of dreams.

    Glaucous: <-4 EP>
    Sundae: <Slp>

Glaucous now closes its eyes and begins warping the very physics of the field itself. While Sundae’s sleepy moans now seem a little more gradual and drawn out, Glaucous now whips around through the air with all the dexterity of a Jolteon. Yippee! Speed!

    Glaucous: <-4 EP>
    Sundae: <Zzz>

Glaucous now goes on the offensive and decides to have a little snack. Boring into Sundae’s mind, the Bronzor begins to devour all of the sleeping bunny rabbit’s dreams, leaving only the nightmares behind. The effect seems to rejuvenate Glaucous a little while Sundae slowly thrashes in her sleep, whimpering at this turn of events.

    Glaucous: <-8 EP; +5 HP>
    Sundae: <-10 HP; Zzz>

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

Dream Eater until it wakes up, and if it somehow doesn't faint before it wakes up use Psychic instead to finish it off.

    Dream Eater/Psychic x3

One last ditch attempt before we faint. Sleep talk thrice.

    ‡ Round 9 ‡

While Sundae continues to slumber away, she begins to babble slowly in her sleep. However, because of the Trick Room, she doesn't have time to execute the move to completion: one swift Dream Eater care of Glaucous and the bunny goes rigid. Sayonara.

Sorry about that, a hotel I went to did not have internet service like I planned for.

I'll send in Gwen, my female Excavalier with Swarm. Let's use Screech, then go for a double dose of Megahorns.
