The poor, fallen Dusclops gets summoned back to its Pokeball as Ayeun trudges forth with her next selection: a large, slithering sea serpent. Oh my! As the next round begins, Dogfish is the sole heckler to launch a pie. He whips a tasty cream pie right at la Bella and crosses his fingers for Freeze hacks, but alas, he simply does not get them. La Bella glares at Dogfish irritably.

The next round begins as la Bella hones in on Barricade’s key weaknesses by firing a cannon of water his way. Waterlogged, the sleeping Rhyperior is thrown back into the tent pole, but fortunately his entirely Solid Rock body prevents him from taking the full blow—not that it still isn’t plenty devastating. Of course, since he’s asleep, there’s not really a lot for him to be doing. Can somebody please issue that Rhyperior a wake-up call?

This time around, la Bella decides to down her foe (and everyone else in the vicinity) by summoning a vicious Surf. The water floods the tent and ruins many of the pies, but Barricade keeps on napping.

Four hecklers step up to the plate this time around and award la Bella with a nice dose of pieage. Finally, all these creams pie seem to be getting to her: ice crystals form around her body and freeze her from head to tail. Suddenly, her whole body glows and her Defence spikes. Barricade takes a pie to the face and lets out a nice, rumbly snore.

So we have one frozen sea serpent and one sleeping powerdrill. This showdown is as tedious as it is fucking bizarre.

As la Bella merely sits there like an ice sculpture on display, Barricade hops to his feet while asleep like a charmed puppet and begins babbling. He points his arms at her and lets out a concentrated blast of Fighting-type energy. Fear by DBZ-like ownage, snakecicle!

With that, Barricade opens his eyes at last. He's finally awake! Huzzah!

Chaos and Blade assume the role of heckler-du-jour for the time being, flinging delicious, sugary desserts at la Bella. They smack against her icy tomb, but the Milotic still manages to feel their impact beneath the ice.

Trudging forward like a bulldozer, Barricade starts swinging his every limb at la Bella. His desperate Endeavor manages to deal some potent damage, and still, la Bella merely sits there.

la Bella: <-15 HP; Can’t move!>
Barricade: <-10 EP>

Now, Barricade cuts loose with a blistering Thunderbolt. The electricity crackles against her icy prison and beads of water begin to materialize against the cold surface. What could this mean?

Suddenly, the ice surrounding la Bella begins to creak and groan as the monster contained within begins to break free. Chunks of ice plummet to the ground as la Bella begins to move that slender but mighty frame of hers. Once free, she wastes no time in targeting Barricade with a massive discharge of pressurized water. He skids against the muddy water, trying to work up the strength to retaliate with Thunderbolt even as he’s rocketed through the muck. In the end, it’s just too much for him to muster.

Ayeun makes her ninth selection of the battle and summons a squat conifer into battle. However, as Snover take first steps beneath the big top, Blade punishes the little guy with a steaming pumpkin pie. Fortunately, the little tree doesn’t suffer a Burn, but still! He shakes his little fist at Blade. Not cool, man!

As the round gets officially underway, Cootie scorches Snover alive with a merciless Fire Blast. The dual Grass/Ice typing proves problematic for our little seasonal tree as he literally goes up in flames. Flailing around like a maniac, Snover summons a frigid Avalanche to spill into the tent and out those flames. The snow and ice pile upon Cootie, sending a massive chill through her body.

Cootie: <-20 HP; -10 EP>

Freeing herself from the mounds of the snow, Cootie heats things up with another fiery strike, this one a Flamethrower. Once again, Snover must quell the heat with an Avalanche. Whew, at this rate, this battle will last all of three seconds.

Cootie: <-20 HP; -8 EP>

Cootie throws in one more Fire Blast for good measure. However, this one carries an added benefit, though not for Snover: it leaves a massive scorch mark on his left arm that sizzles painfully. Nonetheless, Cootie summons Avalanche number three to wreak havoc.

Cootie: <-20 HP; -10 EP>

Snover's Burn then flares up <-3 HP>.

As the pie-throwing portion of the next round begins, Chaos whips a delicious blueberry pie at Snover. Yup, not much else to say about that.

Snover and Cootie appear to be racing like mad toward the end as they try to push as much damage onto their opponent as physically possible. However, Cootie takes a break from the damage-dealing as she does a little spin in the air. Suddenly, as harsh light begins to enter the tent, Snover kicks up an icy wind to billow in from outside. The strong, cold breeze strikes a chill through Cootie’s entire body.

Cootie: <-11 HP; -4 EP; -1 Spd>

A second wind now blows through the tent, this one much, much warmer than the last. Cootie commands a massive Heat Wave to gust about the tent, melting away the last of the snow on the Snover’s boughs and bringing him out of the match after two and a half speed rounds.

Ayeun makes her final selection, summoning a yellow lizard to finish up the battle for her. The pies fly yet again and each competitor suffers at the mercy of a delicious dessert. Each pie engenders a different effect. Cootie’s whole body goes rigid as Paralysis starts to set in while Burn, on the other hand, doesn’t succumb to a particular status but nonetheless faces another significant change. He begins to transform, causing his orange scales to go black and his lizard body to go mammalian.

This fox is a tricky one.

Zorua: <-7 HP>
Cootie: <-10 HP; Par>

Zorua waits for Cootie to summon a rainstorm, but the move never comes. With her whole body locked up, Cootie can only watch helplessly as Zorua renews the Sunny Day. The warm glow continues to spill over everything. Zorua basks in it while Cootie, on the other hand, squints her eyes against the glare and seems irritated.

Time for a little Foul Play. Before Cootie can even move, Zorua throws himself forward with a powerful physical strike. Just like that, unceremoniously, Cootie is unable to battle.

And so we find ourselves entering the homestretch.
