    NEWCOMER BATTLE!

    ARENA
    Indigo Plateau.

    ROUND 8
With Anchovy fainted, Charles replaces him with Smears, who immediately begins by sketching a sword -- Smears is now SamurSmears, a sword-weilding beagle [ -7PP Smears ]. But even with a sword, he's still un-defended against Bruiser's swift punches [ -11HP Smears / -6PP, +5HP Bruiser ].

Smears doesn't let it get to him, though, and he starts painting some lightning bolts on his sword, giving it the power of Zeus [ -3PP Smears ]. Bruiser continues to beat down on the dog, however [ -11HP Smears / -6PP, +5HP Bruiser ].

Smears, now content with his thunder sword, takes aim and fires off a blast of electric energy that, unfortunately, is evaded by Bruiser's cunning [ -2PP Smears / -1PP Bruiser ]. Smears, dissatisfied, becomes even moreso when his paint-made sword fades away into nothingness.

Smears tends to his wounds before wrapping up Bruiser with his tail once more and constricting [ -10HP Bruiser / -7PP Smears ]. The machop retalliates with a draining punch [ -11HP Smears / -4PP, +5HP Bruiser ].

Smears constricts once more [ -10HP Bruiser / -7PP Smears ] while Bruiser yanks the smeargle's tail off and relaxes [ +10PP Bruiser ].

    ROUND 11
Smears ponders for a moment before beginning his attack. Hyper Beam, got it. He begins painting out a massive laser gun, but as he does so, Bruiser gets his final attack in -- another cross chop that does incredible damage [ -20HP *CRIT* Smears / -7PP Bruiser ].

Bruiser prepares for another attack, but before he can move, Smears' laser gun is complete and fires off, obliterating the fighting pokémon quite easily [ -2HP Bruiser / -15PP Smears ].

    ROUND 12
Smears rests up for a moment from that powerful attack he just performed [ +10PP Smears ] as Cueball's next pokémon -- COG -- enters the battlefield. The hovering metal crabmon initiates the battle with a psychic force, slamming the beagle into the ground with mind powers [ -9HP Smears / -5PP COG ].

Smears, now fully-refreshed, paints a boxing glove into the battlefield -- but before he can command it to attack, he himself is pummeled by COG's metal fist [ -11HP Smears / -5PP COG ]. The painter beagle pulls himself together and orders the boxing glove to attack -- it does so, draining the metang of quite a bit of health [ -15HP COG / -7PP Smears ]. The boxing glove vanishes just as quickly as it was summoned.

Smears paints another, but before he can finish it, he is pummeled into knock-out territory by his opponent [ -7HP Smears / -3PP COG ].

    NEWCOMER BATTLE!

    ARENA
    Indigo Plateau.

    ROUND 13
The painter beagle is recalled and replaced by a newer member of Charles' team -- a rhyperior named Rhynox. The collosal rhynocerus towers over COG, but the psychic pokémon's not afraid, and fires of a telekinetic blast of energy that collides with Rhynox [ -8HP Rhynox / -4PP COG ]. The leviathan, meanwhile, snaps his fingers and summons a strong sunlight to overtake the arena [ -7PP Rhynox / Sunny Day activated ].

Using the sun as an energy booster, Rhynox fires off a powerful blast of fire that engulfs COG [ -10PP Rhynox ]. But when the flames die out, COG's protective barrier is all that can be seen, shimmering away [ -10PP COG ]. Blast!

COG hits the beast with another psychic volley [ -8HP Rhynox / -4PP COG ] before being engulfed by Rhynox's fire blast once more [ -24HP COG / -10PP Rhynox ]. That fire really packs a punch!

    ROUND 14

COG preemptively puts up another protective barrier [ -5PP COG ], which allows Rhynox's intimidating features to go unnoticed [ -2PP Rhynox ].

COG hits once more with a psychic blast [ -8HP Rhynox / -4PP COG ] before getting hammered by Rhynox's powerful fissure technique [ -18HP COG / -8PP Rhynox ].

    ROUND 15
Rhynox utilizes the strong sunlight to fire off a powerful blast of flames that wrap around the steel pokémon. However, fire, strong as it is, is no match for COG's protective barrier [ -10PP Rhynox / -10PP COG ].

Furious, Rhynox charges at his adversary and stabs it with his megahorn, dealing nice damage [ -12HP COG / -10PP Rhynox ], who's too busy learning how to levitate to notice [ -5PP, @Levitate COG ].

Rhynox creates an earthquake that ultimately tremors just below COG who floats a few feet in the air [ -6PP Rhynox ]. The psychic pokémon chirps before wrapping the rhynocerus with a grass knot, tripping him up [ -15HP Rhynox / -8PP COG ].

COG breaks free from the flames and smashes Rhynox into the ground several times with its superior mind [ -8HP Rhynox / -4PP COG ]. The rhynocerus just accepts it before retalliating with a powerful horn thrust [ -10HP COG / -10PP Rhynox ], knocking out the psychic crab.

Jira attacks once more with a weak aerial ace, and Rhynox continues to barely notice it as he seals the entrance to his hole with rock tomb [ -4HP, -3PP Rhynox / -3PP Jiranamo ].

Seeing's how is opponent has sealed himself out from the outside world, Jiranamo takes a moment for himself [ +10PP Jiranamo ] as Rhynox tries to fall asleep -- however, with the lack of air under the ground, Rhynox suddenly finds himself panicking as he ravages the underground cavern until he makes his way back to the arena proper.
