Ted now scoops up a nice clump of mud with one of his damaged wings and flings it heedlessly at Fei Long. However, rather than taking the hit and the accompanying Accuracy reduction, Fei Long cunningly throws up a shield of brown energy. The mud runs off the shield and lands uselessly on the floor below. Ted rolls his eyes. Perfect.

Continuing his all-out offensive tactic, Ted sprints toward Fei Long and brandishes one of his gleaming wings menacingly. He brings it slamming against one of Fei Long’s shins, but the fossil Pokemon’s better-than-average Defence stat helps to dull the pain a little bit. He retaliates with a sudden surge of energy that throws Ted back into one of the suits of armour. The Skarmory whimpers. Ground attacks aren’t supposed to hurt Skarmorys like that!

Fei Long: <-7 HP; -7 EP>

Though Ted’s wings won’t let him fly, he can still conjure up some pretty wicked razors of air and cuts loose with a particularly nasty one. However, Fei Long’s Rock typing helps him cope with much of the move’s bite. With another Earth Power, Fei Long sends Ted whizzing back against the wall.

As the next round gets under way, Ted lets out a strident cry as a mysterious wind whips up within the pagoda itself. Propelled by this sudden gust, Ted sprints toward Fei Long in a reckless tackling move; however, the Kabutops’s rock-hard carapace keeps the damage at a minimum, including that done against Ted through recoil. However, as the Skarmory steps back, a third layer to this stratagem becomes apparent as Fei Long realizes the bird had vomited some nasty, bubbling gunk onto his shell. Eww!

Growling, Fei Long drags his arm-sickles against one another to produce not only a few sparks but also a particularly blinding flash of light. The light connects with Ted, causing the Skarmory to stumble over to one of the suits of armour and ask it out on a date. Aww.

Unaware that the end is nigh, Ted seems unable to do anything as Fei Long shoots out one final Earth Power. The shimmering Ground attack throws Ted into his beloved suit of armour. Unfortunately for the metal birdie, love won’t save the day. He crumples in defeat.

Though battling a mounting Toxin, Fei Long still seems to be in formidable fighting condition and eagerly awaits the challenger’s next selection. In Ted’s absence, Papabopp releases a… tiny white squiggling tadpole? Fei Long cocks a brow. Well, time to see if size does matter!

Propelled by the Tailwind, Eelectropfhousjduhdhfus (what a name!) gets things off to a quick and sparkly start as he unleashes a broad wave of electrical current. However, Fei Long remains nonplussed and simply blocks the attack with a sudden Protect. The electricity runs off the shield and sizzles away to silence.

Okay, take two. As electricity consumes Eelectrophorus’s body, the little Tynamo squiggles forward through the air and rams Fei Long right in the face! The Electric-type move sizzles the Water-type fossil Pokemon excellently, but Fei Long is too busy readying his next attack to let the move get him down. Locating a spare rock—the same one, in fact, he used to Smack Down Ted—he gives it a toss. The stone collides with Eelectrophorus and, just like that, the Tynamo falls. Unable to Levitate, the poor guy merely rolls around on the floor like a dropped piece of sashimi. Fei Long can barely contain his laughter.

Fei Long: <-11 HP; -3 EP>

Harrumphing like there’s no tomorrow, Eelectrophorus fires off the only other Electric-type move in his repertoire, a narrow beam that successfully increases the Tynamo’s Special Attack stat one stage. As the electricity fries Fei Long, the Kabutops falls back on a tried-and-trued tactic by unleashing a beam of vivid brown light. Eelectrophorus rolls into the back corner of the pagoda as his Special Defence takes a dip. Easy come, easy go.

Suddenly, Fei Long goes entirely rigid as its movement is compromised. Fei Long, I’d like you to meet Paralysis. Paralysis, this is Fei Long.

Before Fei Long can execute another command, Eelectrophorus goes for another Spark. This time, the move carries just enough sizzle to put Fei Long over the edge: the fossil Pokemon’s legs buckle, causing his whole body to slam down to the ground. After a good fight, this battler has been brought down at last.

The Gym Leader recalls his fallen Kabutops after a long, well-fought battle. His next selection, a limber flaming gorilla, beats his closed fists against his chest as he takes to the field. Eelectrophorus peers up in terror at the scorching-hot simian and gulps. Uh, good luck.

Still propelled by that Tailwind, Eelectrophorus cuts loose with a crackling Thunder Wave! As the jagged yellow bolts zigzag toward Yamamoto Gen… Genry… uh… *cough* As the jagged yellow bolts zigzag toward YG, the Infernape throws up a sparkling pink barrier. The electricity bounces off the Magic Coat and comes beelining back toward Eelectrophorus, who must suffer the full extent of his own attack. Paralysis causes the Tynamo’s body to go unexpectedly rigid. Having seen what Paralysis did to Fei Long just a short while ago, the little white squirmer is noticeably distressed by this turn of events.

Right on cue, Paralysis begins doing its thang as Eelectrophorus is rendered immobilized. Unable to move a muscle, Eelectrophorus closes his eyes and braces himself against YG’s next attack, an ground-shaking quake of unpleasant proportions. The Tynamo is thrown skyward like a sausage tossed from a frying pan and lands back on the ground with a painful thud. Ouchies.

With that, the Tailwind blowing around the pagoda falls silent.

Without his friendly Tailwind to bolster his agility, Eelectrophorus begins charging up a Thunder Wave but is slow to fire it off. Before he can unleash his attack, YG spots the rock left over from Fei Long’s Smack Down a few rounds back and uses a little bit of magic to imbue it with a small amount of health. Eelectrophorus fires off the Thunder Wave, but the electric current sizzles uselessly against the rock. Yeah, I dun think that thing is gonna get anymore Paralyzed than it already is.

With Eelectrophorus trailing in health, it doesn’t look like the little Tynamo has a leg to stand on. (*rimshot*) YG sees if he can expedite things by doing large amounts of damage in a short period, beginning with a powerful Earthquake that sends his opponent tumbling around the quaking ground. When at last the shaking earth goes still, Eelectrophorus bounces toward the nearest orb and knocks it off its pedestal. Suddenly, powerful energy flies out and strikes YG with Water-type energy. The beast watches as his little rock Substitute simply shatters.

Yamamoto Genryuusai: <-8 EP; Sub: Broken!>

Earthquake number two threatens to level the pagoda as YG keeps up the pressure. Fighting against the quaking ground, Eelectrophorus manages to once again bounce over to a suit of armour and its accompanying orb. This time, as he activates its power, a lustrous beam of Flying-type energy strikes the big boisterous Infernape. As it turns out, Aeroblasts hurt. A lot. Who knew?

The next Earthquake does much the same as the prior to and after all this shaking and shimmying Eelectrophorus is pretty sure he’s going to toss his cookies soon. He peers feebly at the next orb and begins to bounce over toward it, but Paralysis inhibits his movement. Tough luck.

The Tynamo watches as his opponent does a little dance, causing his body to glow as his strength mounts. Mildly intimidated, Eelectrophorus flops over toward the Illusion armour and removes the orb from the pedestal. Violent fuschia waves begin to rush out at YG, battering him ruthlessly.

Paralysis sets in yet again as Eelectrophorus once more has no choice but to wait for his foe's inevitable attack. Eelectrophorus is hurled into a nearby pedestal and slumps down against the ground. He doesn't move.

Papabopp summons a thistly Dragon into the fray and the pagoda is soon shaken by his ferocious roar. YG, however, doesn’t seem to be the least bit intimidated by this brute and chooses to fight dirty… both in the literal and figurative sense, but not necessarily in the sexual one. Mud-Slap time! He flings a big glob of the sticky stuff at Aoigon who lets out a cry as it gets in his eyes, compromising his Accuracy. Aoigon begins sharpening his claws against his powerful scales. He also gives his face a quick wipe while doing so, cleaning the pesky mud away.

The Infernape’s rope-like tail soon shines with a silvery sheen as he pounces upon Aoigon and begins whacking him in the face with it. Growling, Aoigon closes his eyes and concentrates as he begins trying to command a Surf. Hrm, I’m not exactly sure where that water is gonna come from, unless the pagoda happens to have plumbi—

Suddenly, a pressurized blast of water bursts out of one of the walls and collides with YG. The Infernape is thrown against the far wall with a terrible thud. Monkey no likey the water.

Yamamoto Genryuusai: <-15 HP; -8 EP>

Commanding a fierce assortment of boulders to crush that pesky Druddigon, YG cuts loose with the rocky assault. Aoigon zips out of harm’s way with an aerial dive and comes down upon YG with a sudden slice of those fearsome claws. YG tries to Counter the hit, but alas, the Infernape has already moved for this action. He takes the hit to the chest and lets out an unhappy grunt.

As the next round begins, YG closes his eyes and begins to meditate on the spot. Aoigon blinks at this decides to up his speed with a quick run, but can’t quite seem to muster up the proper technique. As he stands there scratching his head, YG suddenly springs to life. The Infernape leaps toward the rampaging dragon and clocks him hard in the face with a closed fist. Aoigon crumples and throws up his hands to nurse his injury. Hey, monkey boy! Mind the snout!

Once again, Aoigon wreaks havoc on the poor pagoda and its plumbing with a pressurized Surf. Thinking a little Agility will allow him to evade the move, YG takes a step… and stops. Left wondering how exactly that move goes again, YG is rendered immobile and thus can’t help but suffer the full force of the aquatic discharge. He’s thrown against the back wall and, suddenly, a vivid orange halo lights up around his whole body. Purdy.

Aoigon: <-8 EP>
Yamamoto Genryuusai: <-15 HP; Blaze>

With excellent precision, Aoigon takes to the air only to swoop down toward his foe and lash out with his talons. However, in a show of superb hand-to-hand combat skills, YG takes the hit and grabs hold of Aoigon’s wrists. He then pile-drives the Druddigon face-first into the ground. Aoigon just barely lets out a yelp before he’s forced to eat floor.
