Default Chaos vs Jelibean [ref: Oslo]

I challenge anyone who accepts to a 2v2 match in darkness. Instead of posting pokemon/attacks, you PM them to the ref. Oslo has offered to ref.

Both battlers PM oslo with the pokemon they intend to use. Oslo will then post this info for both of us to see. Then, both battlers PM oslo with the attacks, and Oslo refs.

Due to the potential for circular subs, subs of "If the opponent uses X, do this." are banned. Subs of "If affected by this status, do this" are still fine. (So, "sub: If opponent has light screen or reflect up, use Brick Break" and "sub: if asleep, use snore" are fine, but "if opponent uses light screen, use Brick Break" is not). If this needs clarification, feel free to ask.

Gentlemen's agreement on banned moves is in place: If you think it's broken, don't use it. If I use it, then you can start using it. Same for reverse.

DQ period of 7 days. If you haven't PM'd Oslo within 7 days of the last reffing, he will state as such in the thread.

Jelibean Man will be using his male Spiritomb with Infiltrator.

Chaos will be using Nightstalker, his male Sableye with Prankster.

Battlers can now send me their attacks. Jelibean Man, since you included a set of attacks in your initial message to me, you're welcome to either go with those same moves or PM new ones to me.

Fun fact: this is the second Spiritomb vs. Sableye battle I'm currently reffing!

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 1 ‡

Good day, ladies and gents, and welcome to Indigo Stadium! Today, we’ll be watching a battle of epic proportions between the experienced Chaos and the wily newbie Jelibean Man. Where are these trainers, you ask? Not here! Today, they’ll be sequestered in separate rooms with televised visual access to the battle while communicating to their Pokemon via itty-bitty Bluetooths. Oh, the joys of modernity! The point of these measures, you ask? Put simply, neither trainer has any idea what the other trainer is up to! Let the craziness begin!

The two Pokemon that will kick off this match are escorted onto the field: a sneaky Sableye and a swirling Spiritomb, both ready to kick some ass. Yay for no type weaknesses! Alright, let’s get this battle underway!

Nightstalker is the first to make a move. Smirking, the little spook tells Spiritomb that he’s a big ugly gimp with no hands or legs. Woah, man! Just because it’s true doesn’t mean you need to say it! Growling, Spiritomb simply decides to lash out with a tumbling ball of shadows that hits Sableye in the gut. Gimp that, bitch!

    Nightstalker: <-10 HP; -4 EP>
    Spiritomb: <-6 EP; Tnt>

Suddenly, crimson lights erupt from Nightstalker’s large gemstone eyes. They sweep across the field, passing over Spiritomb for a fleeting moment… but it’s enough. All of a sudden, Spiritomb begins to feel… a lot more corporeal? Whatever that feels like? The suddenly solid spirit growls and cuts loose with a second Shadow Ball, this one bearing the unfortunate side effect of diminishing his foe’s Special Defence a hair. Ooh. Darn.

    Nightstalker: <-10 HP; -4 EP; -1 SpD>
    Spiritomb: <-6 EP; For>

Now that Spiritomb is firmly fixed in the living world, Nightstalker has no problem thrusting his forearm forward and hitting his opponent right in the face! Ouch! Letting out some kind of primal roar, Spiritomb goes for a third Shadow Ball that, with the combined effects of STAB and his foe’s less-than-stellar defences, does as much damage as Nightstalker’s Brick Break.

    Nightstalker: <-12 HP; -6 EP>
    Spiritomb: <-12 HP; -6 EP>

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

    Notes:

    > At 0 EP, Pokemon will begin to lose 1 HP for every 2 EP they consume
    > Spiritomb will remained Taunted for two more actions
    > Spiritomb will remain under the effects of Foresight for the remainder of the match

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 2 ‡

The next round begins with an eruption of light: Nightstalker’s gemstone eyes momentarily illuminate the entire stadium with a single brilliant Flash. Spiritomb blinks rapidly and tries to fire off a concentrated pulse of Dark-type energy but it misses, striking the stadium wall and leaving a nasty dent. Dear sweet Indigo Stadium, how after all these years are you still standing?

    Nightstalker: <-2 EP>
    Spiritomb: <-6 EP; -1 Acc>

Suddenly, Nightstalker bounds over to Spiritomb and does the most Tormenting thing he can think of: he pokes Spiritomb in the side. Spiritomb says that’s very annoying and can you please stop. Nightstalker pokes him again. Spiritomb says hey, buddy, don’t poke me. Nightstalker pokes him again. Spiritomb says he’s going to tattle to the ref if he doesn’t quit it and then he’ll be in big trouble. Nightstalker pokes him again. Growling, Spiritomb decides to let Nightstalker have it and pummels him with a sphere of total darkness. Nightstalker stumbles back but grins, smiling as Spiritomb continues to glare at him in Tormented rage.

    Nightstalker: <-12 HP; -4 EP>
    Spiritomb: <-6 EP; Tor>

Nightstalker then decides to keep up the barrage of non-damaging attacks by cutting loose with a Confuse Ray of epic proportions. The pulsating ball of light is absorbed into Spiritomb’s body and begins playing tricks on his mind. With his world spinning, Spiritiomb tries to follow his commands and attack… and succeeds! Well, kind of. Not really. He manages to bypass Confusion and try to follow his commands, except he can’t. Every time he tries, all he can think of is that incessant prodding. Nightstalker is doubled over with laughter at his foe's many misfortunes. Jeepers, Sableyes are friggin’ annoying.

    Nightstalker: <-4 EP>
    Spiritomb: <Con>

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 3 ‡

Having put down a solid foundation of non-damaging moves, Nightstalker prances toward Spiritomb and swings his leg fluidly, striking the Foresighted Ghost with excellent precision. However, Spiritomb bypasses his Confusion and retaliates with a different kind of attack, foregoing a physical strike in order to spew out a rude Taunt. He tells the Sableye that jewels are for girls and Nightstalker, therefore, is nothing but a big, gigantic girl.

I swear, you can practically hear Nightstalker’s blood boiling… or, rather, I’m sure you’d be able to if he had any.

    Nightstalker: <-4 EP; Tnt>
    Spiritomb: <-9 HP; -4 EP; -1 Spd>

Going for another physical strike, Nightstalker swings his open palm toward Spiritomb and lashes out with enough force to break bricks. At this point, Spiritomb is so overcome with Confusion that he starts bashing his face against his keystone. The self-inflicted attack is a little on the brutal side and wipes out any hopes of Spiritomb delivering a move this action.

    Nightstalker: <-6 EP>
    Spiritomb: <-12 HP; -3 HP from Confusion>

Nightstalker resorts to another Low Sweep, looking oddly like a breakdancing ghoul in the process. Spiritomb uses Calm Mind, overcoming his Confusion while honing his Special categories.

    Nightstalker: <-4 EP>
    Spiritomb: <-9 HP; -4 EP; -1 Spd; +1 SpA; +1 SpD>

Oslo, did you get a new format to account for all the statuses that can appear in that spot? Coz if things continue, Spiritomb will be the new Muk.

    ‡ Round 4 ‡

The next round kicks off as Nightstalker takes advantage of his foe’s Foresighted state once more with a swift palm thrust, smacking Spiritomb right between the eyes. The afflicted Ghost lets out a growl and retaliate with a swift Shadow Ball.

    Nightstalker: <-14 HP; -6 EP>
    Spiritomb: <-12 HP; -6 EP>

Nightstalker goes for a second Brick Break, again dealing some formidable damage, while Spiritomb has no choice but to sit there and grimace. Judging by that look on his face, I’d say he was positively Tormented.

    Nightstalker: <-6 EP>
    Spiritomb: <-12 HP; Can’t move!>

Once more, Nightstalker (or should I say, Brickbreaker) delivers another physical strike while Spiritomb this time successfully spins off a Shadow Ball. Excuse me while I go take a hit of speed to keep myself from falling asleep during this less-than-scintillating battle...

    Nightstalker: <-14 HP; -6 EP>
    Spiritomb: <-12 HP; -6 EP>

    ‡ Round 5 ‡

Nightstalker dives toward his foe and extends his leg, sweeping it across his foe’s keystone for some formidable damage. Spiritomb retaliates with a simple pulse of Dark energy, which does more or less what you’d expect from that kind of move.

    Nightstalker: <-14 HP; -4 EP>
    Spiritomb: <-9 HP; -6 EP>

Since Spiritomb has once again forgotten that he’s Tormented, he effectively reduces himself to an immaterial punching bag… or, should I say, kicking bag? Nightstalker puts his legs to good use once again with a powerful kick right to his foe’s keystone, causing Spiritomb to shriek. The phantom retracts into his keystone, defeated at last. Nightstalker flexes those purple Sableye muscles of his. Victory!

    Nightstalker: <-7 EP>
    Spiritomb: <-10 HP; Can’t move!>

Sorry, the rules mustn't have been clear. The pokemon are announced seperate to the moves used. It prevents people using, for example, normal/fighting moves on ghosts or psychic moves on darks.

Okay, cool. This reminds me... Jelibean, when you send your Pokemon, you have to be more detailed than "a litwick." I need its gender/ability/nickname (if relevant).

Just go ahead and post it. Don't bother PMing me, since I would just have to paste it here anyway.

    ‡ Round 6 ‡

Jelibean recalls his fallen phantom and releases a new Pokemon to do his bidding: another ickle ghostie, this one resembling a burning candle. Nightstalker, unimpressed by this newcomer, feels so confident that he… decides to fall asleep. Just like that, he’s out like a light and begins to rapidly regenerate health. Litwick, meanwhile, hurls a Shadow Ball at his opponent. Did you by any chance take battle lessons from your Spiritiomb predecessor, Litwick?

    Nightstalker: <+40 HP; -12 HP; -26 EP>
    Litwick: <-6 EP>

Nightstalker now begins babbling in his sleep. Suddenly, the sky over the stadium begins to reveal… the moon? All lit up? In, um, the middle of the day? Well, uh, whatever. While the sleeping spook begins to metabolize this Moonlight for additional health, Litwick hurls another Shadow Ball at his foe.

    Nightstalker: <+15 HP; -12 HP; -7 EP>
    Litwick: <-6 EP>

Continuing his Sleep Talk tirade, Nightstalker hops to his feet and tries to Retaliate… against what? While it’s not entirely clear what the Sableye’s motivations are, it is clear that the attack doesn’t manage to do anything given Litwick’s typing. Now that Nightstalker’s energy levels have bottomed out, the attack begins to eat away at his health. The round ends as Litwick goes for a third Shadow Ball.

    Nightstalker: <-12 HP; -2 HP from fatigue>
    Litwick: <-6 EP>
