    ‡ Round 180 ‡

Aikoku uses a few Roosts while Gallade restores himself using Recovers. Once you're back in fighting shape, you follow the music. It sounds... familiar.

"Of course," Gallade says after a moment. "The music must be coming from those musicians who were playing nearby when you first met me in the real world. If we follow the noise, we'll be heading in the direction of the Crystal Gallery. Smart thinking."

With everything so big and you three so small, what would normally be a short jaunt down a corridor feels like a mile-long trek. Fortunately, space shifts again and everything gets slowly restored to its normal proportions. Phew. You realize that Gallade's suspicions are correct: you're presently only a short distance from the staircase that took you to the Crystal Gallery when you were back in the real world.

You glance into the next room and see the Luxray, Ursaring and Roserade from earlier playing their music. This time, they notice you walking by and peer at you devilishly.

"An audience!" Roserade shouts with vile delight. "Come watch us play!"

Your initial inclination is to say no, but Aikoku and Gallade watch her with goofy looks. They look... almost like they're Attracted to her! Unable to resist Roserade's charm, they grab you by the wrists as they enter the room and sit down in hard wooden chairs. The Ursaring bounds you all to your seats with rope.

"They will listen to us play forever and ever!" Luxray shouts as the three of them cackle.

    How do you proceed?

    GREYFOX'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Shinsuke Volcano
This Volcanic Island - previously hidden away can now be seen from the shore. A massive pool of magma lies deep in its center, but one can walk down quite a ways and find a variety of Fire Types enjoying the heated tunnels. Some hardier Flying Pokemon line the edges of the Volcano as well. A tall Pagoda stands on the Island as well, the only man-made structure here. If you fish from shore, Water Pokemon encounter rates are the same as for Tranquil Shores.

    1 Black Shard

    ‡ Round 166 ‡

Recalling Caucus and Falconzord, you make use of Fenrir's natural affinity for darkness as you Faint Attack down the tunnel. After a long, long trek, you come upon the tunnel's end where, chipping away at the earth, dozens of Digletts and Dugtrios toil.

"Don't slack now!" Charizard shouts, spraying a number of the enslaved Mole Pokemon with his water pistol. They cower in pain and redouble their efforts. "We've almost burrowed all the way to Tranquil Shores! And once we're there, Heatran will finally be able to use this tunnel to escape the island and assert his natural dominance over the entire Safari Zone! It will be beautiful!"

Well, that explains what the Mole Project is, then. Peculiarly, there's still no sign of Simon or Amelia.

    How do you proceed?

    > Attack!
    > Confront the Fire-types
    > Take a Diglett/Dugtrio aside
    > Collapse the tunnel

Crouching low to the ground, you and Fenrir press yourselves close to the tunnel wall as you crawl toward a Dugtrio without Charizard, Magmar and Torkoal noticing. The Dugtrio sees you approach and looks alarmed for a second, but quickly plays it cool.

"If you're here to help us," the burrowing Pokemon whispers, "the guards leave to refill their water pistols every ten minutes. Be careful, though. They warned us that if we try any funny business, they'll collapse the tunnel on our heads."

You're worried about a tunnel collapsing? But you're moles -- you crave the earth! At any rate, waiting for them to refill their water pistols isn't going to work. They're likely have at least one of them stand guard.

What we need to do is collapse this tunnel with the three of them none the wiser. Dugtrio, are you capable of pulling this off on your own?

"Yes, but we're beneath the ocean," Dugtrio explains in a whisper. "If we collapse the tunnel, huge amounts of water might flood in... and pardon me if I'm a little behind on my swimming lessons! I do like the idea of collapsing it on them, though... but if you are collapsing the tunnel, you're going to wait until we're all good and escaped before you do! Got that?"

Geez, for an enslaved mole thingy who's about to be saved by a benevolent stranger, he sure is a snarky one...

You and Fenrir patiently wait in the corner and peek over Dugtrio's heads at the three Fire-types. After several minutes, Charizard and Torkoal head back to the mouth of the tunnel to refill their near-empty water pistols while Magmar continues to stand guard with his.

"Try any funny business and you'll be spritzed to high heaven," Magmar warns the Digletts and Dugtrios.

"You have a few minutes before the other two get back if you want to try something," Dugtrio whispers. "Not sure what you'll wanna try, though."

    ‡ Round 181 ‡

You wiggle in your seat and try to squirm your way out of those ropes, but they don't seem to want to give. Okay, time for Plan B. You make a sly remark to Roserade about how you can't dance in your seat.

"Hrm, never thought about that," Roserade says slowly. While Luxray and Ursaring continue making music, she hurries over and unties all of the bindings. "Now get up and dance!"

Aikoku and Gallade, still under the effects of Attract, eagerly bounce up to their feet and begin dancing wildly in an attempt to impress Roserade. Suddenly, Aikoku's dance moves cause rain to rap against the window panes while Gallade's shaking and shimmying causes him to glow as his Attack stat mounts again and again and again. Never have you seen such a ridiculously energetic Rain or Swords Dance.

Grimacing, Roserade swiftly points her flower petal hands at you like a gun.

"I said dance," she whispers darkly.

Ain't no time like now. Caucus, come on out. Fenrir, lead him through the shadows and get behind Magmar -- Caucus, as soon as you're in attacking range, release a Spore!

Once this duck is asleep, then we'll go about freeing the others!

Boogie time! xD Aikoku, dance in synchronisation (aka, use Swords Dance as well) with Gallade, it's so much more alluring. Then turn on the charms by using Attract on Roserade, the ol' flirt. Continue dancing afterwards, of course.

You call out Caucus from his Pokeball and send him off with Fenrir to take that belligerent Magmar down. They skulk past the working Mole Pokemon through the shadows as they sneak behind Magmar. With an eruption of tiny Spores, Caucus manages to put Magmar sleep in one go. Easy as pie.

The Digletts and Dugtrios stop working at once and immediately catch on to what's happening. One by one, they happily pop down out of sight beneath the earth toward freedom.

"Good work!" Dugtrio says. "Is there anything else you need from me before I head out as well?"

You begin busting a number of energetic dance moves much to Roserade's satisfaction. You whisper a couple of quiet commands to Aikoku and he begins Mirror Moving Gallade's Swords Dances. It takes quite a while since the Attraction makes it difficult for him to follow any kind of orders, but he eventually gets there and ramps up his Attack stat as well.

After several moments of dancing and staring at Roserade with his lovestruck Braviary eyes, Aikoku manages to pull off an Attract of his own. He manages to lull Roserade into a state of infatuation without Luxray or Ursaring noticing.

Once again, Aikoku demonstrates that he is a S-T-U-D.

"Hey, guys, listen up!" Dugtrio shouts to a few of the other Dugtrios who have not yet escaped. "Since this guy saved our grits, the least we can do his help him out... and stop Heatran from escaping to the rest of the Safari Zone at the same time. I want everyone to man a support beam and, when the time comes, you're going to knock it down. That should cause the tunnel to cave in and hopefully we'll have time to dig away before the water rushes in. Got it?"

The Dugtrios exchange a few nervous looks. They don't seem to like the sound of this plan.

"And what will happen if we don't manage to escape the collapsing tunnel in time?" a different Dugtrio asks cautiously.

"Take a wild guess," the first one says, rolling his eyes. He turns back to you. "Just give us the signal when you're ready. Obviously you're going to want to time it so Charizard, Magmar and Torkoal get crushed while you have an opportunity to escape."

"Fair enough. You and the old Gallade may go," she says distantly as she gazes at Aikoku with her eyes all wide and lovey-dovey.

Suddenly, the effects of Attract seem to wear off on Gallade. However, as Roserade and Aikoku peer into each others eyes, she manages to renew her Attract on him. They then begin waltzing around the room together to the sound of the music. Your thoughts are momentarily invaded by a mental image of what their scary offspring would look like... and it's not pleasant.

"Are you deaf? I said scram!" Roserade barks at you as she and Aikoku dance. "I'm keeping this lovely Braviary here forever and ever and ever."

Aikoku, completely under the effects of infatuation, doesn't put up much of an argument.

You soon find a flight of stairs and take it up to the next floor. There, you soon find the familiar doors with the engraved message. You've arrived at the Crystal Gallery. You pause to listen, but can't seem to hear anything inside.

You send out Aikoku once more and he peers around, momentarily dazed, but acclimates quickly. Taking a deep breath, you push open the door to the Crystal Gallery.

For the most part, the room here looks the same as it did back in the real world. Various crystal ornaments are crammed in here for all to gaze upon and you even see the portal mirror sitting in the far corner. However, it's not the most eye-catching thing in the room. Not by a long shot.

In the center of the room, you see Giratina. The massive Legendary Pokemon pays you no notice and instead focuses its gaze on something tiny hovering in the air mere inches from its face. You squint and just barely make out the shape of the baby Kangaskhan levitating some twenty feet off the ground. Its body is limp.

"Giratina is draining the Kangaskhan's life force," Gallade whispers. "If it succeeds, it will be able to use the mirror to travel to the real world. We must stop it."

OMFG Giratina! Gallade, use Night Slash to get it's attention.

Giratina, please, listen to us. There is nothing for you to gain by going to the real world alone - you do not have the control you have in this world. Plus, if you wish, I can take you there myself, without you hurting that poor Kengaskhan child any further. I'd like to challenge you to a battle - if I win, you can join me, and we can go to the real world together. If not, I will leave you be.

    ‡ Round 186 ‡

Gallade sprints toward Giratina and tries to attack with a Night Slash, but the Legendary Pokemon throws up a Protect of such power and immensity that the Blade Pokemon is thrown backwards. Nonetheless, you suspect you have Giratina's attention and make a heartfelt plea.

"She's right, you know," Gallade groans. "If you have a Pokemon trainer working with you, you won't need the Kangaskhan's life force to enter the real world. And besides, you really won't have the same control there that you do here."

Suddenly, the crystal begins to hum. The sharp sound twists into words.

This is untrue. I will have control once I find it.

"Find what?" Gallade asks. "What do you mean to find in the real world?"

However, Giratina ignores Gallade and addresses you directly.

Trainer, I have not done battle in millennia. I accept your challenge. If you manage to defeat me, you may enslave me. However, be warned: I will continue draining this infant while we do battle. If you cannot defeat me by the time I have successfully mined all of her life force, I will end our battle prematurely and depart through the mirror.

"That's not fair! She's already almost completely drained!" Gallade growls. "Fight like a man! There's no need to bring the Kangaskhan into this at all!"

Your continued presence is unneeded, caretaker.

Suddenly, using Psychic energy, Giratina hoists Gallade into the air. Gallade squirms and struggles, but the Renegade Pokemon is simply too powerful. It thrusts Gallade through the portal mirror. Just like that, Gallade is gone.

    How do you proceed?

Giratina - I have a few terms of my own. I do not plan to enslave you - I wish for you to battle willingly by my side, thus I want a fair chance at winning. Allow me to summon one of my other pokemon from the other side so that I stand a chance against your awesome power.[/suckup]

You watch as the young Kangaskhan grows more and more pale.

Okay then. Aikoku, use Swords Dance to begin with, then follow it up with Shadow Claw x2.

Aikoku begins to dance much like he did back in the musicians' room. However, without Gallade here to imitate with Mirror Move, Aikoku can't increase his physical prowess. He stops and peers at you apprehensively. The crystal hums as Giratina speaks.

Trainer, you wish to capture me and command my might, yet you ask your Braviary to use moves it cannot even learn? I am unable to fathom how you managed to journey to Platrin Plateau with such lamentable tactics.

Growling, Aikoku defends your honour as he tears into Giratina with a pair of darkness-infused swipes. The second of these attacks results in a critical hit, dealing higher levels of damage than expected.

Giratina stomps toward Aikoku and strikes with a powerful Slash. Then, he maintains the assault with a Psychic and an Aura Sphere.

Suddenly, a powerful wind kicks up within the Crystal Gallery. It whistles through all the ornaments as Aikoku uses it to attain flight, zooming around the room. Giratina tries to attack with a Hyper Beam, but Aikoku uses his speed to evade the attack. The misfired energy collides with any number of valuable ornaments, causing an entire section of the room to thunder with the sound of shattering crystal.

While Giratina recharges, Aikoku continues attacking with the combined efforts of both an Air Slash and Shadow Claw. Once the Renegade Pokemon is again able to attack, he makes up for the lost hits by commanding a massive meteor to slice through the air. It collides with Aikoku and throws him to the ground. He lands in a heap of crystal shards.

You look up at the young Kangaskhan. While she was originally a pale brown when you first entered the room, she is at this point almost entirely a grim shade of white.

Ouch. We're running out of time - we'll just have to try even harder. Use a combo of Shadow Claw and Brave Bird, and finish off with a Roost. If you can hear me Kengaskhan, hang in there!

Panicked by the grotesque appearance of the infant Kangaskhan, Aikoku regains flight and throws himself forth in a massive attack, combining the strength of an aerial tackle and a ghostly swipe. However, Giratina has stopped attacking at this point and is diverting all of its focus to Kangaskhan. Aikoku returns to the ground to Roost and watches as a halo of purple energy surrounds the floating child.

Suddenly, it's done. Like a ragdoll, Kangaskhan's limp body falls to the ground below. It lands without moving. Giratina turns to you and, though there's no tone to the voice it makes from the humming crystal, something akin to smugness lurks beneath its words.

You have failed, Trainer. With this child's life force, I depart into the dimension from whence you come. Two of my loyal vassals will ensure you do not follow.

Giratina trudges toward the crystal mirror and, before you can do anything, it passes through. With that, it's gone.

You begin to hear movement in a far corner. A couple of figures seem to be hiding among the crystal trinkets.

As much as I'd like to help the other pokemon, Giratina has to be the biggest priority right now. I'll grab the baby Kengaskhan and go through the mirror in pursuit of Giratina.

You approach the young Kangaskhan and pick her up in your arms. Her skin is cold and white, but you detect a pulse. You and Aikoku turn toward the mirror and take a step forward.

Suddenly, one of the hiding figures barrels into you and throws you off your feet. You look up as a Zoroark with a unique colour pins you to the ground, gnashing his jaws. Glancing over, you see a Ninetales with a unique colour keeping Aikoku pinned. These appear to be Giratina's vassals.

In a panic, you remember what Gallade said earlier: how every minute spent in this world translate to an hour in the real world. If you don't hurry through the mirror, Giratina might have already leveled Platrin Plateau by the time you arrive.

Great - now I'm being attacked by my own pokemon! I really don't have the time to battle these two, so use Agility to get us out of here and into the mirror. If it fails - use two Whirlwinds to blow them out of the way and go through the mirror regardless.

    Platrin Plateau
A strange, mysterious temple set high in the sky. You can only enter the road to the temple by releasing the seal chanted by the ancients long ago. There are two shrines, one in Sunshine plains, and one in Grave's Yard. They are inconspicuous, the Grave's Yard shrine is a maouselum of sorts. Here, you will find exceptionally strong Pokemon in the various rooms and spaces of this ancient land set high in the sky. If you are lucky, you may stumble on a Legend or two?

    ‡ Round 192 ‡

Aikoku uses a swift Agility to zip out from under Ninetales. He hastens toward you, but Zoroark turns around and starts breathing fire all over him, pushing him back. Then, with a massive upthrust of strength, Aikoku uses a Whirlwind to launch both Ninetales and Zoroark against the far wall. With the infant Kangaskhan in your arms, you and Aikoku sprint toward the mirror and gaze at your reflections.

Suddenly, you're thrown into a dark void and emerge back in the Platrin Plateau garden. Gazing at your surroundings, you notice that, though Giratina only had a twenty second headstart into the real world, the temporal imbalance between the two dimensions means it actually had closer to twenty minutes... and it used them well. Statues have been smashes, trees have been set ablaze and one of the temple's turrets appears to have crumbled. Numerous Pokemon lie injured around the garden, but you see no sign of Giratina.

However, you do see three familiar shapes not far from you. Yami, Yurei and Gallade are among the injured. Gallade looks up at you as you draw close.

"It was looking for something but couldn't find it here," Gallade whispers feebly, "so it left to search elsewhere. We did our best to stop it, but it was too much for us to handle."

You turn around and look at the remains of the entrance to Platrin Plateau. The beautiful pearl gates you passed through when you first arrived have been decimated as though something smashed clear through them on its way out.

Finally, you realize something else: the baby Kangaskhan is no longer in your arms.

"Kangaskhan couldn't travel to the real world because its life force was drained," Gallade explains. "Just as Giratina needed her life force to travel here, Kangaskhan is stuck in the other dimension until its life force can be restored. There might be a way to do that, though I'm not sure how it'll happen if we can't find Giratina."

You leave Yami, Yurei and Gallade to rest while you approach some other injured Pokemon. You find a shiny Garchomp and a Blissey (one who doesn't look like she's about to break your collarbone) and ask them what happened.

"You missed it?" Blissey asks incredulously. "You fortunate soul! It was the most bizarre looking... centipede? It appeared at the gates and started thrashing about. It was running rampant around the garden and even went inside the temple."

"I was in the temple when it happened," Garchomp says. "Just outside the Crystal Gallery, actually. I took cover and heard it... and it was almost like I could hear its thoughts. It was wondering where the Griseous Orb could be. Do you know what that could be?"

"Haven't a clue. Sounds downright nutty," Blissey says. "Oh, dear, let me take a look at your wounds."
