    CYNDER'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Crush Quarry
A dangerous quarry home to Rock and Ground types. Footing is loose, and there's always work being done. A few Fighting types and some rare Steel types also make their homes here. Within the mining tunnles you may find a few rare passages...

    ‡ Round 201 ‡

"Giratina?" Donphan asks. He and the other workers break out laughing. "Yeah, right. That's cute. Listen, kid, none of us saw what caused all this mayhem, but it obviously wasn't a friggin' Giratina. Unless this is all part of your little game? Yeah, uh, it was totally Giratina, then! You'd better run a long build a super-strong fort so you can hide from the big scary monster!"

Why must everyone be so difficult? Yurei steps up and effortlessly lulls Donphan into a deep sleep with a Hypnosis. The other guards—a Geodude, a Mawile and a Makuhita—appear alarmed by their coworker's sudden departure into sleepy land and raise their fists aggressively. Once again: why, why, why must everyone be so difficult?

    How do you proceed?

Go on then, if you're so smart - what caused all of this damage? I have a mind to simply walk away and let you all be killed by Giratina if you're going to be so self-righteous and completely ignore the fact that there is a rampaging legendary pokemon in your midst.

The workers peer at one another and respond the only way they know how: Geodude bounces over to Yami and slugs him in the face with a Mega Punch.

"This isn't getting us any closer to Giratina," Gallade whispers. "Let's deal with them and move on before it finds the Griseous Orb."

    ‡ Round 203 ‡

Yurei and Gallade quickly do away with the rest of the workers, leaving you free to enter the mining tunnels. You find yourself stepping out into a massive chamber with many levels and passageways leading off into darkness. Evidence of destruction is visible in the shattered stones peppering the room.

"So here's the plan," Gallade says. "Garchomp and I will take the front, Yami and Aikoku will stay in the middle while Yurei and Cynder take up the rear. Everyone keep an eye out for either Giratina or the Griseous Orb. The tunnels here are massive, so even if Giratina has sensed that the Orb is nearby, it might still take a while for it to locate the thing. We can do this."

Garchomp leads you into one of the smaller, darker passageways. You keep your eyes peeled and, after several minutes of walking around in search of the Escapee Tunnel, you suspect it might be a lost cause.

Suddenly, you see a twinkle of something silver down a little passage to the right.

    How do you proceed?

    ‡ Round 204 ‡

As you speak to Gallade, the ground beneath your feet begins to tremor ever so slightly and you suspect you're feeling the aftershocks of Giratina's wrath way off in another distant tunnel.

"Okay, guys, no breaking formation," Gallade says.

He and Garchomp lead the way into the small passageway followed by Yami and Aikoku. Suddenly, the earth begins to quake again, this time with tremendous force. You and Yurei are thrown down to the ground and watch as an onslaught of numerous massive boulders from the ceiling tumble downward, kicking up dust. When the dust settles, you realize the boulders have blocked the passageway. They appear to be wedged in tight.

You and Yurei exchange worried looks.

You and Yurei wander through the tunnels in search of the Griseous Orb. Oddly enough, you don't encounter any wild Pokemon during your search. They must have had the sense to take refuge. Judging by the occasional raging quake you feel as you walk, Giratina must not have located the Orb, either.

After several minutes, you come across a forked passageway.

    GREYFOX'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Shinsuke Volcano
This Volcanic Island - previously hidden away can now be seen from the shore. A massive pool of magma lies deep in its center, but one can walk down quite a ways and find a variety of Fire Types enjoying the heated tunnels. Some hardier Flying Pokemon line the edges of the Volcano as well. A tall Pagoda stands on the Island as well, the only man-made structure here. If you fish from shore, Water Pokemon encounter rates are the same as for Tranquil Shores.

    ‡ Round 186 ‡

With a crash, Simon and Falconzord manage to take out the bars of your cell just as Amelia approaches. You rush out into the cramped corridor behind your Pokemon.

"What are you doing?" she barks. "Get back in your cells!"

You realize she's tugging a chained Pokemon behind her. Though you've never lain eyes on him before, you strongly suspect this imprisoned Graveller to be none other than Charlie.

    "Charlie!" Simon gasps.

    Okay, yeah, that confirms it.

You head left, and it's your good fortune that you do: you soon come across an old makeshift pulley elevator. You see an old, worn sign marked Escapee Tunnel with an arrow pointing downward. However, at this point, you're not sure if Gallade, Garchomp, Yami and Aikoku have already been this way. You're also not sure if you should descend into the tunnel, wait for them to come or head back out to find them.

You hear another quake. You're running out of time.

Alright, it's 2-on-1 right now, girlie, and since we were able to free ourselves, it'll soon be 3-on-1. Do you think you can take on all of us? Or would you now be willing to cooperate and tell us, truthfully, where my other pokémon are?

Yurei, use Extrasensory to see if you can sense Gallade in the area, and if so, send him a message and aask if they are alright, and whether they have any news.

    The Graveller gulps.

"I'm so sorry, Simon," he murmurs.

Suddenly, still chained, Charlie throws himself forward at Simon with a powerful Stone Edge. Amelia laughs and hits Falconzord with a pair of powerful AncientPowers.

Simon, hang back out of his reach.

Charlie -- Heatran's not going to find you. He's not gonna even get a chance to find you, because he's gonna be taken out of the Safari Zone forever. That, I can assure you. Heatran may be a legendary pokémon -- but he can't take on all of us, and that's just what we're going to do.

"Don't believe what he says for a second, Charlie," Amelia barks. "Does he really believe he can remove Heatran and all of his power from the Safari Zone? Think about how easily Heatran was able to drum up followers! Think about how easily he rounded up the islanders and found you! Think about how easily he was able to get me to find Simon... all I had to do was wait around by the freaking magma pool and, just as Heatran suspected, he practically flew right into my clutches! Heatran always gets his way. If you resist him, he will annihilate you."

Clearly terrified, Charlie peers back and forth between you and Amelia. Suddenly, he makes up his mind, hitting Simon with another powerful Stone Edge. Amelia cackles and strikes Falconzord with a Stone Edge of her own. While the two Flying-types are in a daze, she slaps a pair of manacles around their ankles and chains them to Charlie. She does the same to you.

"I was originally just going to be nice and let you and your Pokemon rot here," Amelia says to you. "Instead, I'm going to take you to Heatran right now and let him have his way with you."

Are you that much of a coward, Amelia? Do you not value your own life enough? Or would you rather just be a blind slave just following the orders of someone who will ultimately just kill you when you're used up?

Face it, Amelia -- Heatran will just kill you too, just like all of us. There's no other way but to fight him.

It's clear your words have struck a nerve. Something like fear and outrage lingers beneath Amelia's expression, but the Pupitar remains steadfast.

"Heatran would never do that to me," she says at last. "He promised me great and spectacular things. I'm not... don't even think you can coerce me!"

With that, she gives a tug on Charlie's chain and leads the four of you down the corridor. Soon, you emerge back into the room with the crates and barrels. She takes you down the only hallway you haven't yet explored, which ends at a large rock blocking a doorway.

"In you go," she says, heaving the rock just a bit. However, she only unlinks Charlie and Simon, ushering them into Heatran's chamber. They lower their heads fatalistically and enter, at which point she closes the entrance. "Heatran was especially excited to get vengeance on the two of those for trying to enchain him in the magma pool. Once he's done with them, it'll be your turn, but don't get too eager. I suspect Heatran is going to want to take his time, so get comfortable."

Suddenly, in the full illumination of this hallway, you notice something you didn't in the dim corridor: a leather pouch dangling from one of Amelia's spines. You can just barely make out the shapes of six small, spherical objects inside it.

    How do you proceed?

    Os, you are a machine!

Why are you defending this monster? If he's this angry for someone disturbing his sleep, so angry that he's willing to kill someone for doing so, then what makes you think that you'll be spared for any mistake you make? Amelia -- you can't be perfect. Sooner or later you will slip up, and he won't be so forgiving.

Let's attempt to destroy it then. Hit it with a combo of Hyper Beam and Fire Blast.

    ‡ Round 190 ‡

Amelia is looking agitated at the moment.

"Stop talking!" she barks, scrunching up her eyes. "Just stop talking or I'll hurt your Pidgeot! Or I'll throw your Pokeballs to the bottom of the ocean! Don't tempt me!"

Something in her voice doesn't sound very convincing. Suddenly, you hear Simon's and Charlie's screams of agony rise up from within Heatran's chamber. You watch as Amelia flinches at the sound.

Yurei combines a blinding beam of pure white energy with a crackling Fire attack. The moves strike the Griseous Orb, though the object appears to remain intact. You're not sure whether the moves had any effect whatsoever.

Suddenly, the Orb begins to hum. The noise bends itself into words that echo through the chamber.

You will harm my Orb no further.

You turn around. Looking up, you find yourself once again gazing upon Giratina, though in another Forme.

    How do you proceed?

Yurei, use dig to bury the orb to begin with, then attack with hex.

I'll try reasoning with her again while using the shard to break the binds, and if she doesn't listen, I'm going for the pouch.

"You're better than this, Amelia, that's why you threw Zord in the cell with us - you wanted is to escape! I could hear it in your voice. You fear Heatran. You know he'll devour you as well, and you also know for damn certain that we are the best chance this zone has at stopping him."

Yurei burrows out of sight with the Griseous Orb, masking it from sight. Giratina, however, doesn't like this idea and slams one massive foot into the ground. The Escapee Tunnel begins shaking wildly and you can only imagine the kind of harm that's being caused to Yurei beneath the earth.

She soon reappears from beneath the ground and, as she does, she swipes at Giratina. Shortly thereafter, suffers the sheer might of a Hyper Beam that throws her against the back wall. However, she remains steadfast and, as Giratina recharges, she casts a Hex at the Ghost-type.

Judging by the way Amelia quivers and refuses to meet your gaze, your words seem to be doing the trick. Suddenly, as the screams from within Heatran's chamber mount in volume and desperation, it appears as though Amelia has reached her breaking point. The Pupitar suddenly throws the leather pouch to the ground and storms away. She wordlessly climbs the steps leading back up to the pagoda and vanishes, leaving you free to break loose from your bindings.

Eheh Giratina, if you use Earthquake again you'll just harm your precious orb. Yurei, carry on, you're doing a great job. Disable Hyper Beam, then hit it with Dark Pulse, finish with Hex.

Before Giratina can attack again, Yurei freezes up the Renegade Pokemon with a quick Disable. Giratina remains motionless while Yurei maintains the effect and, when it ends, Yurei tries to quickly follow it up with a Dark Pulse. The black energy beam zips through the air, but Giratina evades it by disappearing into a burst of purple light.

Yurei peers around, trying to get a lock on Giratina, but can't seem to locate her foe. Without warning, Giratina reappears and lashes out with a crippling Shadow Force, which throws Yurei into the far wall. Nonetheless, your Ninetales keeps it together and attacks with another Hex. Giratina lets out a grunt as the attack lands.

Suddenly, you look over to the chamber's entrance and see Gallade and Garchomp standing there.

The orb's hidden underground put of Giratina's reach for now. Yurei, continue attacking with Hex and Dark Pulse, but use Nasty Plot first.

Once everything is in place, you and your Pokemon heave aside the rock barring the entrance to Heatran's chamber. You enter the massive room and, in the center, you see Simon and Charlie bound to stakes. Fires have been lit at the base of the stakes and the two Pokemon let out pained yells as the heat licks away at them.

"We need to destroy it, then," Gallade says.

"Just do your best to hold Giratina off for now," Garchomp adds.

The two Pokemon then hurry over to the turned earth. Garchomp Digs down to recover the Griseous Orb and begins breathing hot flames over it. Gallade strikes it with a series of pulsating Focus Blasts, but the artifact appears to remain intact for now.

Giratina, enraged, begins striking at Yurei with Earth Power after Earth Power after Earth Power. The combined strength of these moves leaves Yurei's health rather diminished, but your Ninetales retaliates by concocting a devious plan and executes it with a Hex and a Dark Pulse.
