Actually, I think your skills are pretty good here. If I can give a tip, it can be said in one word: linking. I usually put all the words guessed in a word document and try to find out the possible common letters between them. By linking common letters in the words guessed, one can deduce possible words. Hope this helps a bit

Edit: and my strategy's quite different. I work mostly with the numbers I get from each word, comparing the differences to discard possibilities, and occasionally figuring out one or more letters that must be there, like the T back in autograph.
