"I'm not sure," Artemis says in reply. "The last puzzle was very Pokemon-related, so I think we'd better keep that in mind with this one. So how might the word 'drives' figure into the Pokemon world? There aren't really that many vehicles, so I'm thinking that's probably not it. What else could it be? And are those letters for letters' sake, or are they corresponding with something somehow?"

This time, when the wall slides away, a set of stairs leading deep into the temple is revealed. Celebrating your victory over those stupid, stupid riddles, you and your party clamber down the steps to see where they lead.

Eventually, you step out into a large, torchlit room. It seems pretty nondescript, with the exception of some yellowing grass poking up through cracks in the floor. How the hell does that survive down here?

Suddenly, you notice something in the corner: a Solrock with a Ghost-type Pokemon on either side of him. The Ghosts seem to be Taunting the Solrock cruelly while lashing out with random hits and blows.

You kick into action. Marauder starts by staring down the competition, Intimidating them effectively. As the spirits begin to cower, you then command your Pokemon to burn the Ghosties and then lock them into physical existence. Sableye and Spirtomb retaliate with... an unexpected counter-strategy. They begin winking and blowing kisses at your team members, causing Marauder and Zen to fall into a dreamlike stupor. They're Attracted... to Ghosts? Guys, no. There are laws against that sort of thing. Blech.

While your Pokemon begin composing love poems in their heads, Sableye smashes Zent in the gut as though smashing rocks. Spiritomb, meanwhile, constructs an invisible conduit through which he begins to even out his and Marauder's health levels. Oh, Curse Split. A devilish combo.

Your Pokemon become lucid again just long enough to target Sableye with a Steel Wing and a Focus Blast, doing significant damage. Sableye hits Zent with another Rock Smash while Spiritomb attempts to overcome Marauder with a Shadow Ball. Much to the malevolent spectre's confusion, the attack has no effect. Spiritomb furrows his brow. What is he, new?

A terribly hot, sweltering desert with few places for shade. Illusions are commonplace here-and the scent of inevitable dehydration hangs high here. Yet hardy Pokemon worked out a way to survive in this climate-despite the horrid lack of water.

You weigh the risks of keeping this little battle going and correctly conclude that the only winning move is not to play. Since Apollo's Taunt has fortunately worn off, the Solrock and its Lunatone partner cut loose with blinding Flashes of light. You and your party promptly hightail it out of there, running up the steps and through the riddle chambers back to the circular room where you started. Solrock and Lunatone together use their Psychic powers to create a gap in the ceiling and lift you, Marauder and Zentillion up out of the temple. They Levitate up through the makeshift exit, closing it behind them. Whoo! Never has sweltering heat ever been such a relief!

"Thank you!" Apollo says. "Who knows what those Ghosts would have done to me?

"You mentioned before that you were looking for us?" Artemis asks. "For helping us out, we'll create any potion, tonic or what-have-have that exists."

"That's very brave, human, to imperil yourself to save the Pokemon at Feizhi Outpost as well as Virizion," Apollo says.

"Not to mention my partner," Artemis adds.

"The medicine that Virizion needs is called the Green Vitality Tonic," Apollo says.

"And there's some good news and bad news to go with it," Artemis says.

"Good news: we know how to make the tonic. It only requires two ingredients, in fact," Apollo explains.

"Bad news: both ingredients are very rare," Artemis adds.

"Good news: the first ingredient is Yellowfennel, which we have," Apollo chimes in, holding up its bag. You see some yellow grass poking out of it. "We were traveling to the temple for the entire purpose of harvesting this stuff, but the sinkhole caught us by surprise. Yellowfennel only grows in certain hot and dry climates, such as the lowest chambers of the Maos Temple. I nabbed some right before we made our escape."

"Bad news: the other ingredient is called a Bluepepper, and it only grows in certain cold and wet locations," Artemis says.

"Good news: we know where you can find some. Deep inside Ffeffni Mountain, there's an underground lake," Apollo explains. "Bluepeppers are known to grow on its shore."

"Bad news: we don't know exactly where the lake is located," Artemis says. "It's been many, many, many years since either of us have travelled that way."

"Good news: I can come and help you locate the Bluepeppers while Artemis prepares the Yellowfennel for its use in the tonic," Apollo offers. "So what do you say, human? The Musketeer Trio has been good to us in times past. Neither of us wants to see Virizion perish. Are you willing to depart for Ffeffni immediately?"

You let Zentillion remain with Artemis while you and Apollo hop aboard Marauder. Your bird, pleased to be leaving this desolate wasteland behind, shoots off into the skies. The terrain below becomes gradually less arid as you make your way toward colder climes. The flat landscape grows steadily more and more mountainous and, soon enough, you find your flight impeded by swells of ice and snow. Brr!

The weather becomes so bad that Marauder finds himself unable to fly any further. He descends, touching down upon the slope of a rather intimidating mountain. You turn your collar against the raging storm and you fleetingly wish you were back in the Badlands.

Even the Pokemon here seem to be having trouble dealing with the weather. Squinting through the storm, you see a mother and father Glalie struggling to protect their young against the blizzard.

The winds slowly escalate as you approach the family of Ice-types. The Glalies seem well-equipped to deal with these kind of conditions, but the Snorunts are tiny infants. They struggle to stay upright in these blustery conditions. You fear they might get whipped away in the wind and thrown clear off the mountainside.

You, Marauder and Apollo each pick up one of the little Snorunts. Yours blinks and smiles at you as you cradle her in your arms. The little critters are kind of cute in a weird, conical toque kind of way. Pressing forth, the Glalies lead the way up the mountain slope. The snow is quickly up to your knees, but you trudge onward nonetheless. The mountain entrance can't be more than a couple minutes away.

Suddenly, over the raging storm, you hear some aggressive squawks. You turn your head skyward and squint through the snow and ice. It looks like there's more than one Pokemon family hanging around Ffeffni today.







The birds look... predatory.

You ignore the birds. Perhaps they're hungry, territorial or just plain mean, but the family of Pidgeottos and Pidgeots refuse to leave you in peace. The weave in and out of the snow swells, circling your party.

Suddenly, the Pidgeots and two of the Pidgeottos dive. They fly low to the Glalies and begin to harass the Ice-types without fear for their own safety. The Glalies fire warning shot Ice Beams, but the birds refuse to retreat. Before you can intervene, another Pidgeotto swoops toward you and begins trying to snatch the Snorunt in its talons. The infant Snorunt begins to bawl in uncontrollable fright, squirming to break free from your grip. Marauder and Apollo also appear to be struggling to keep ahold of their Snorunts.







You're not sure how much longer you can hold onto this fidgety little critter!
