One could make the same argument about some of your tactics, Ash.
Truth is, you've gotta keep a watchful eye on your opponent's movesets. They can and will take advantage of every scenario if it means they can win.

Final Gambit, Explosion, and Selfdestruct are explosive techniques that cost the user's life in favor of a high damage output. It causes a lot of damage outwardly, but it also must adhere to the damage cap (if one's in place).
Destiny Bond, however, isn't an attack. It can't be avoided because the user it using it on themselves -- if they're KOed while it's being used, then it will outwardly affect the thing that KOed it. Think of it like creating a voodoo doll within yourself.

‡ Round 15 ‡
After the shocker of the century, we're starting fresh as both trainers release new Pokemon to the field. RL, that pesky user of Destiny Bond, summons a Dewott to the field while Ash calls upon his go-to Kirlia. Shenanigans get underway as Dewott begins spouting a rather filthy, transphobic remark I don't care to reproduce here. However, before the Taunt can settle on Psyshock's psyche, the Kirlia lets out a horrific wail that echoes throughout the beach. It sounds like mating bobcats getting run over by a transport truck with a bad muffler. I can't tell whether Saigō is injured or just plain repulsed.
Saigō: <-4 HP; -4 EP>
Psyshock: <-2 EP>
With his Taunt having failed, Saigō zips toward Psyshock and lashes out with a weak Bug-type slashy move. Yowchies! (Yeah, I just said yowchies. Idk.) Grimacing, Psyshock calls beach weeds to poke up through the sand and trip Saigō painfully. The Dewott rolls about but can't seem to get free. Well, that's rather humiliating...
Saigō: <-12 HP; -1 EP>
Psyshock: <-3 HP; -6 EP>
Using his fearsome Dewott claws, Saigō cuts through the grass like some kind of machine that cuts grass (lawnmower! that's the word!) and keeps on going right toward Psyshock. His Night Slash rips into the Kirlia, dealing pretty impressive damage, as Psyshock sizzles with electric current. He discharges a blast just for Saigō. His muscles lock up. Not cool, man. Not cool.

Blushing, Psyshock decides to perform another Safeguard just for Saigō. Another white veil drifts down over his body as the effect is renewed. Saigō dreams about zipping in and performing an X-Scissor, but such an act will for now remain a dream deferred: his whole body locks up with Paralysis and prevents him from executing the attack. Ho hum.
Saigō: <Can't move!>
Psyshock: <-4 EP; Sgd>
Giving his head a shake, Psyshock frowns. Hey! That whole Encore thing was a cheap trick! Grimacing, Psyshock erects a silvery barrier than hangs suspended in front of him. It's all purdy and shimmery and such. As nice to look at as the Reflect is, it does absolutely nothing to stop Saigō's Scald which comes ripping through with intense heat. And that's the round.

Saigō and Psyshock decide it's time to pay tribute to everybody's favourite tiki god. Saigō releases a burst of steaming water which Psyshock attempts to take control of. However, since water is difficult to manipulate with Psychic, the Kirlia is only able to exercise mental control over half of the Scald attack. Thus, when the water hits, Osloki recognizes the move as two blessings, one from both Saigō and Psyshock.

Slumbering like a wee little baby, Saigō probably isn't even aware that he's overcome with Paralysis. Naw, he's too busy dreaming about evolving into a sleek, awesome Samurott... except, wtf, is that a Serperior? The Serperior begins strangling the hell out of Saigō. Meanwhile, back in the real world, Saigō's pain is Psyshock's pleasure. The Kirlia begins to regain health.

The nightmare continues for poor Saigō as the big snake continues having its way with the poor Dewott. (Er, but not in the Fredian way. I think.) Saigō continues thrashing around in his sleep and belts out one ugly, massive sonic burst that hits Psyshock in the gut... but the Snore isn't enough to offset the health Psyshock gains through those tasty, tasty dreams. Shenanigans continue as Saigō finally wakes! Huzzah! However, his whole body goes rigid with Paralysis (d'aww...) as Psyshock begins to put those killer pipes of hers to good use. She sings a dulcet tune that puts Saigō on an express train back to Sleepytime Station. The Dewott looks pretty well-rested, though, so I can't imagine his stay will be particularly long.

Saigō begins to babble in his sleep. Suddenly, he begins pirouetting like a marionette on crack. Oddly enough, such a tactic raises his offensive prowess. How, exactly? Idk. Either way, Psyshock then uses a sneaky trick of hers to prevent such sleepy tactics from being used again.

The twentieth round of our little skirmish begins as Saigō becomes surrounded with watery goodness. He shoots off like an aquatic rocket (an aquocket? no, wait, that just sounds ugly) and, before, Psyshock can respond, he smacks Osloki in the face and offers his blessing. Psyshock scowls. Friggin' priority. The Kirlia then releases an array of shimmering leaves that cut up poor Saigō throughly.
Oi, anyone hungry for diced otter? Yeah, me neither.

Action two: REDUX. Psyshock and Saigō trade off the same moves and the effects are mostly the same. Well, actually, they're entirely the same.

After going so long without Paralysis rearing its ugly head, it was only a matter of time: Saigō's body goes rigid and he's unable to move... except he does? A pink glow envelops his body as he rises up off the ground. Ooh. What fun.
Saigō: <Tkn; Can't move!>
Psyshock: <-4 EP>
Psyshock closes his eyes and predicts a powerful Psychic attack in the near-future. Will his prediction come true? Only time will tell! (Spoiler alert: it totally does come true. Sorry about that.) Saigō then wobbles through the air toward Psyshock and lashes out with a sudden Night Slash. Hyaah! Take that you long-haired hippie freak!
Saigō: <-5 EP>
Psyshock: <-13 HP; -8 EP>
Psyshock falls back on that good ol' standby: high-voltage! Woohoo! A powerful Thunderbolt zaps Saigō thoroughly (pretty sure he must be at least medium-rare at this point) but doesn't deter his next attack. Can you believe Round 22 is already upon us? Fancy that! Right on schedule, Saigō's body goes stiff as a board as Psyshock lets off a dazzling Flash of light from underneath his, er, entirely gender-neutral skirt thing. Unable to close his eyes against the harsh glare, he becomes blinded. Turns out open eyelids can even come under the effects of Paralysis, too. The More You Know!
Saigō: <-1 Acc; Can't move!>
Psyshock: <-2 EP>
Psyshock lets out another light-based attack, except this one has an awfully different effect. He releases a pulsating blast of light that drifts toward Saigō and then immediately scrambles the Dewott's brain. Unable to tell up from down, Saigō merely begins smacking himself in the face with his big random shell thing. Masochism ftw.

Hopkirk attacks the island tiki with a blast of silver-laced wind that maxes out Osloki's damage meter. Uh-oh. Osloki's eyes glow purple as it attacks Slash with an invisible projectile. the combo was supposed to make aerial ace hit twice
also how do i get my ability back? plus shouldn't the silver wind have hit slash too?
anyways swagger, toxic, wing attack
As well, because Osloki is so vain, he refuses to be blessed by any attack used to damage an opposing Pokemon. For example, if you try to Earthquake Osloki and your opponent in one fell swoop, Osloki won't accept the Earthquake as a blessing. No hitting two birds with one stone.
May affect anyone adjacent to the user
and if osloki is in the middle of the beach the silver wind should've trickled past and hit slash as well
