Sorry for double-posting, but was dabbling around with trying to make myself as a Trainer sprite. It's pretty simple really, just a recoloring of the RSE Bird Keeper...but when I dunno how to get rid of the white background, any of you experts mind helping me out?

This is my new Sprite as of now:

EDIT: Oh and please critique on how you think I worked my colors...I think I might have not done the pants properly but this is only my 2nd sprite I've EVER created, so I'm very much still a newbie (unlike the pros of Oslo, Cynder and Gigya)
EDIT2: Made another, this time another recolor of Blue/Gary. Same thing with my recoloring of the pants being a little sketchy...can't decide which I like better, leaning toward the first one more, but would like all of your honest opinions. Still having the same background problem as my first one

What program do you use to sprite anyways?

Well, there are many different programs you could use for spriting. I, for instance, do a bit of basic recoloring every now and again, and I use Paint.net.
It's a free program that I think is pretty good for basics.

of course, don't take my word for it. I don't have any kind of skill when it comes to this.

Yeah I'm using the Mac version of Paint, which is called Paintbrush. My very first Pokemon sprite that I did didn't have the background problem that I'm having now and I'm not sure what I did differently with it so that the problem wouldn't happen

To get rid of the background of a sprite, colour all of the background with a colour you haven't used, eg. the default yellow or something, and go to iaza.com and load it and click the transparent option and select the BG colour. That's it!

As for the sprite, I think the colours are a tad off. I like the first one better, but the coat's a bit too dark and the pants look too saturated - I'd recommend colourdropping from other sprites of a similar colour to begin with until you're used to choosing colours. The same kind of thing applies with the hair too, I wouldn't recommend getting rid of the outline like you have - it makes it look a bit too flat. It's a lot better than most people's first sprite though; you saved it as a PNG and didn't leave any parts uncoloured.

I just got out of hospital. I was involved in a domestic violence issue a few weeks back, and had to have some minor surgery on my face and shoulders. I am back now, but I wish to apologize to anyone who has been inconvenienced by my absence.

It's June, that usually means exams if you're in school/college/uni/space academy. For me it means bigger deliveries and busier days in work. Come the end of July and start of August it'll be summer holidays for space cadets (and others), so it may increase a bit.

I finish at the end of next week - all of my exams and things are done with! I did them earlier this year, they've been on and off since I'm doing early entries for things so it's not a full set of tests. I'm waiting for the results for my biology and english exams that will come in August, and a lot of the things I'm doing are mainly coursework based which means that next year I have very few exams to sit, discounting an early entry AS Level in Maths that I'll be sitting in November.

What comes to the summer holiday from school, here in Finland we have a total of over 2 months of it, June and July plus a couple of weeks in August. That's when I'll return to my job as a library car assistant, too.

You could always just copy and paste your previous round and adjust the information accordingly? That's what I do most of the time ( even though half the info is wrong most of the time )

I do that as well. However, I also use a number of colors for different amounts of hitpoints, pokemon type, and move type. Those colors are lost until I can retrieve them from various battles.

EDIT: They're also no the standard colors such as saying color=red when using a color code.

Gigya, if you want a good place to store your templates, then PM them to yourself. That's how I check all my reffing tables to make sure they work before I put them to use.

That and save them in a dozen text files on various discs and drives.

For my reffings, at least, I just copy the previous round and then put in the moves, or change around the sprites. At least my computer keeps the sprites as is, instead of turning it into a large jumble of code. A lot of other people's reffings look pretty with the health bars and different sized shapes, but I find colourful numbers to be easier.

But everyone has their own style and it makes them unique.
