We have to try! Ah'll go attempt to make contact with them taillow, and I don't care whether or not ahm excommunimicated or not. Hadley can come if she wants. Now, Hadley, if you wanna come, we should probably go NOW, because we're kahnd of in a hurry.

If she says yes, we'll get the heck out of there as fast as possible (after asking where the colony might be located)

    TEAM BTPOKE'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Sunshine Fields
A large rolling plain that overlooks TPML, the grass is soft and the air tasty. A plethora of grass Pokemon are found here as they enjoy the tickling breeze and the bright sunshine. Bird and normal-types are also found here. Far to the north, a small rocky outcropping exists.

    ‡ Round 98 ‡

Eager to leave, you explain your plan to Hadley and the others.

"If that is what you choose, then so be it," Suresh says harshly. "You have lost my respect, child. For conspiring to make contact with outsiders, I hereby excommunicate you from our colony. Make your choice, Hadley. Will you stay or will you leave?"

"I... I'm sorry, Braeburn," Hadley says, eyeing the ground. "If I'm excommunicated, it means I'll never get to see Jackson or Gran ever again. I wish I could, but I can't. I apologize."

With that, Georgette, Suresh and General Cole trudge toward you and usher you out of Colony Hall before you can utter another word. They then close the building's doors behind you just as Sandy's Illusion falls. Phew! That was close. You descend the steps and prepare to make you way to the exit when you stop cold. Strolling along the sidewalk right in front of you is what appears to be a mother Zigzagoon and her son. They come to a halt and take one look at your Druddigon. Their eyes go wide.

"Mommy, what's that?" the child asks, pointing at Sandy.

"That?" the mother asks, staring. "That's... an... OUTSIDER! SOMEONE, COME QUICK! AN OUTSIDER HAS BREACHED THE COLONY!"

    How do you proceed?

I wonder if I have the ability to facepalm without accidentally getting rid of the illusion?

Sandy, we need to get the heck out of dodge!

"Don't worry, we were just leaving! Pay us no mind! Just go about your business, ma'am."

Alright Sabaku, Hone Claws followed by Outrage! If she gets out of the trap, change Outrage to Dragon Claw twice.

    ‡ Round 99 ‡

You try to calm the mother and hightail it out of there, but all this screaming and shouting has attracted the attention of two passing Zigzagoon police officers. They flank the mother and child protectively and gape at Sandy with looks of sheer bewilderment.

"I don't believe my eyes! It's a Nuddigon!" the silver-faced police officer exclaims. "Or... Guddigon? Spluddigon? I don't know what they're called, but that's definitely one of them!"

"We must defend the colony and the Soul Dew!" the cyan police officer shouts as she unleashes a swirling Blizzard. Frost settles upon Sandy until she's Frozen solid.

"That Zigzagoon is in cahoots with the Spluddigon!" the mother exclaims, pointing directly at you. "He tried to shush me up! They're in cahoots, I tell you! Cahoots!"

The silver-faced officer shoots off a Blizzard of his own at you. You brace yourself for the frigid attack, but it never actually lands: Veronica leaps in front of you and takes the hit. She avoids getting Frozen, fortunately, but her Illusion does indeed fall and her true form is revealed.

"It's a Jolteoggle!" the cyan officer shouts. "Joe, quick, Colony Hall is right there! Go inside and get General Cole! He'll sort these troublemakers out! I'll hold them off!"

    CYNDER'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Platrin Plateau
A strange, mysterious temple set high in the sky. Here, you will find exceptionally strong Pokemon in the various rooms and spaces of this ancient land set high in the sky. If you are lucky, you may stumble on a Legend or two?

    ‡ Round 216 ‡

The Sandstorm comes to an end, but Garchomp remains trapped within her Sand Tomb. The Confused land shark begins chomping on her own wrists, which gives Sabaku a clear opportunity to Hone her Claws and thereby up her Attack and Accuracy stats. Suddenly, Garchomp regains enough clarity to fire another Dragon Pulse at Sabaku. Taking the hit, Sabaku plods forth as Outrage consumes her. She approaches the swirling cyclone, reaches her arms through it (which hurts a little) and then begins lashing out with various melee attacks that together do a lot of damage. Garchomp would retaliate but it seems she's too busy... chewing her wrists yet again. Hrm.

Suddenly, the Sand Tomb falls and Garchomp's Confusion abates. Eep.

We didn't even do anything! Ugh.

We were just leaving, but now you guys have forced me to bring about evasive measures.

Catherine, use heat wave to thaw Sandy and push the Zigzagoon back.

Veronica, Sandy, use Thunder Wave and Glare (respectively) to paralyze them!

Then we'll get the heck out of dodge!

    ‡ Round 100 ‡

The mother and her son take cover behind a nearby trash bin as Catherine breathes a strong gust of scalding wind all over the place. Sandy is thawed and the two police officers tumble backward in the miniature gale. Veronica then Thunder Waves the silver-faced police officer while Sandy Glares the cyan police officers into submission.

Before they can compose themselves, you guys hightail it out of there. You run until you find the plastered tunnel that leads back outside and then follow it to the exit. You push the decoy bushes out of the way and clamber out of the hole. Phew. At this point, you realize night has fallen. The plain is deserted, but you can barely make out a noise coming from the north.

It's faint, but it sounds... like drums.

    War drums.

    Oh no.

Well, there's no way I'm gonna be able to convince them about the invasion, so it looks like we have to hightail it to Ivy woods.

Is it possible for Catherine to just will her illusion to fade? (if not, then Veronica can shoot her with a gentle pin missile or something) I don't think she's gonna need her illusion anymore. I mean, I probably will, considering the zigzagoon disguise will probably make me look like an ambassador or something.

If so, then we ride! To Ivy Woods!

hmm.... is it possible for me to use pokeballs when I'm under the illusion? if so, I'll return Sandy and Veronica while I'm at it. If not... umm... Maybe Catherine could carry Sandy while Veronica could carry me? I mean, my illusion will probably affect my weight as well as my appearance, so I think Veronica could carry me, but I don't know if Catherine could carry Sandy (no offense to sandy).

    Anyway, let's hurry!
... And maybe before we leave we can shout a warning down the tunnel or something. Someone's bound to hear us.

    ‡ Round 101 ‡

Veronica gently Pin Missiles Catherine's Illusion away while you shout "HAY GUYS THE INVADERS ARE COMING OH NOES" (or something along those lines) down the Zigzagoons' tunnel. Hoping the invaders won't be able to find entrance to the colony, you return Sandy and Veronica before hopping aboard Catherine and jetting off. Fortunately, Sunshine Fields shares a border with Ivy Woods so you don't have to travel very far. Soon, you cross the tree line and pass into the moonlit forest.

You scan your surroundings and find several locals dozing away. You'll have to wake them if you want directions.

    Ivy Lake
A secluded lake in the middle of the forest, you'll find rare Dragons here, along with all the usual Water types. Rumour has it, that there's a cave hidden underwater...

    ‡ Round 102 ‡

You follow the sound of running water until you locate a narrow stream feeding into a placid lake. Your surroundings look familiar and immediately bring back a slew of bad memories from several months prior. The area seems pretty deserted but you do happen to notice a Poliwhirl splashing around in the shallows of the lake. You ask the insomniac tadpole for directions to the Taillow colony.

"You're visiting the Taillows?" she asks. "Oh, they'll be delighted to receive you! They're the happiest blokes this side of Shinsuke. Just head northwest from here and you'll find a rock wall. Scale the wall and you'll find their rookery nestled within a small grove. Their leader just commissioned the carving of two statues and they'll be thrilled to have someone to show them off to, even at this time of night!"

    Ivy Woods
A dense forest where a thick fog lingers. There are Grass and Bug types everywhere you turn. Look up and you'll find Flying types are enjoying the highest reaches of the trees.

    ‡ Round 103 ‡

As it turns out, Poliwhirl's directions prove to be reliable. After no more than five minutes of trekking you pass into a clear area and gaze upwards at a towering cliff. This is going to be a doozy to climb and you're quite aware that a careless slip could spell disaster.

You glance downward and spy a slumbering Treecko nestled away in a stony nook.

You also see metal doors embedded in the rock wall.

The metal doors seem interesting, but I think I'll examine them later.

Anyway, you know what move I just realized Sandy can learn?

I'll return Catherine, bring out Sandy, and tell her to Use Rock Climb to get us up the wall please :3

    Ivy Woods
A dense forest where a thick fog lingers. There are Grass and Bug types everywhere you turn. Look up and you'll find Flying types are enjoying the highest reaches of the trees.

    ‡ Round 104 ‡

Recalling Catherine, you simultaneously reach for Sandy's Pokeball and summon her back out to play. You then get her to use Rock Climb (which saves us all a lot of time and effort) to carry you up the cliff. You're careful not to grip too hard lest her Rough Skin bring an end to your Illusion. Nonetheless, Sandy seems to be having no trouble with the task and begins scaling the rock wall with relative ease... at first, anyway.

When you reach the halfway point, you hear a loud squawking noise. You glance over Sandy's shoulder and see that, instead of grabbing the rocky surface, she has accidentally pressed her clawed hand into a rocky crevice containing a Hoothoot. The bird lets out an indignant cry before shooting out of his nest and hooting loudly again and again. Suddenly, you hear a chorus of flapping wings as a dozen other Hoothoots swoop in and begin Pecking Sandy mercilessly.

Still holding onto your Druddigon's back, you avoid the birds' attacks for fear that one well-aimed Peck will bring the end to your Illusion.

    Ivy Woods
A dense forest where a thick fog lingers. There are Grass and Bug types everywhere you turn. Look up and you'll find Flying types are enjoying the highest reaches of the trees.

    ‡ Round 105 ‡

You try to reason with the hell-eyed birds but their aggression remains unabated. (To be fair, if you had to live your life without opposable thumbs you'd probably be a little miffed too.) They try to Peck you but you deke left, causing your library card to tumble to the ground below. No! Not your precious item which has already served its purpose and has since become useless! Damn you, Hoothoots!

Nonetheless, Sandy shows her fierce side by retaliating with an echoing Roar. The waves of sound rush over the Hoothoots and replace their anger with fear, which sends them retreating to the trees below. Huzzah! Success! Emboldened by her victory, Sandy continues Rock Climbing and soon reaches the top of the rock wall. You scramble over the edge and thankfully find yourself on solid ground once more.

Looking around, you believe you've found what you were looking for. A number of groggy Taillows are hopping out of a nearby grove. It appears as though Sandy's Roar has woken them; however, rather than appearing upset, the birds stare at you with looks of amazement.

"Somebody pinch me," one of the Taillows says as he looks at your Illusory form. "Ow! Damn it, Gus, it's an expression. But seriously... it's one of them! A coloured Zigzagoon! I never thought I'd live to see the day!"

    ‡ Round 106 ‡

The Taillows blink in response to your request. They seem enamoured by the Illusion in front of them.

"Uh... yes, of course!" the nearest Taillow says. "We'll just wake him up! Wait here!"

She then skips off into the grove. You and Sandy awkwardly wait at the edge of the cliff as the remaining Taillows continue to wordlessly gape at you like adoring fans. Fortunately, this uncomfortable moment is swiftly brought to an end as the Taillows returns.

"He's ready!" she chirps. "Right this way!"

She leads you into the grove where you stroll past numerous Taillows who also stare at you without so much as a peep. Eventually, you come upon a moonlit clearing where a sturdy-looking Swellow sits atop a throne of leaves and branches. His throne is flanked by twin statues of a Latias and Latios. The Swellow's eyes go wide upon seeing you and he begins smiling animatedly.

"Sacrebleu!" he declares. (Oh, and he's French I guess.) "Eet eez a wee coloured Zigzagoon! 'Ow can zis be? I have a bad feeling about this, considering I now know this guy is french (and I thought MY accent was bad)

"Wow, your statues are amazing. They look so life-like... Oh, right, I have some grave news from my colony."

"A disaster is occurring. The Soul Fountain has dried up, and our people are falling ill. We tried to call upon the zigzagoon of Ffeffni for help, but they are now taking advantage of our weakness by declaring war upon us. By now the Zigzagoon of Ffeffni have most likely reached the colony."

"My colony didn't even want me to come and ask for help, but if you can, please help us. We are in dire need of assistance, and I am sure my colony will be ultimately grateful."

I'll also make a point of bowing down before "Felix" (seriously, how stereotypically french can you get?)

"Also, please excuse the druddigon. She was a great help in transporting me here."

Ha! Why read when someone can tell me? Which is weird for me to say, because I love reading, but I was in a hurry at the time!

Yeah, except now you have to hear the tale in Lord Félix's outrageous French accent.

    ‡ Round 108 ‡

"Oh, ze story eez magnifique!" Lord Félix exclaims. He looks like he wants nothing more than to tell it to someone. "Eet eez truly shocking you do not know... before your colony stopped making contact avec outsiders so long ago, all wee coloured Zigzagoons 'ad to learn of zis particular 'istory! So, long before zis Taillow colony was founded, Félix R. Swellow, my great-great-etcetera-grandfazzer, 'ad gotten 'imself lost in zese very woods. Oh, 'e was 'andsome and such, but 'e was not so smart nor so brave. Zen, suddenly... oh no! 'E flies right into a den of 'ungry Victreebels! Ze 'umanity, ze 'umanity! Eez zis ze end for poor, poor Félix? Mais non! Because a brave Linoone 'oo 'appened to be scurrying on by saw ze ruckus and decided to 'elp zis complete stranger! So 'Ector, as 'is name was, used 'is Blizzarding attack and 'is Shadowy Ball attack and 'is 'Eadbuttery skills and defeated ze 'ungry Victreebels! 'Uzzah, 'uzzah! Zen, just as 'Ector was 'elping Félix up, 'oo should fly by but ze Eon Pokemon, Latias and Latios? Zey said zey 'eard the noise and saw 'Ector 'elping Félix to 'is feet and said such 'onour deserved a reward! And so zey gave 'Ector ze Soul Dew and instructions on 'ow to make ze Soul Fountain! And zen Félix, 'oo was so grateful, founded zis Taillow colony and everyone lived 'appily ever after. Ta-da! Ze story eez over now! Lovely, non?"

The tale of heroism appears to have brought tears to Lord Félix's eyes. He brushes them away and smiles at the two statues fondly.

Ok, according to General Cole, who is the general you would be conferring with, bethany has a solid 300 troops at her disposal.

We only have 200 troops, and a quarter of them are facing Withdrawal symptoms from lack of fountain water, so only 75% of our troops are fit to fight. Bethany's warriors are most likely more skilled in battle than our colony, so even with our natural strength, we'd be at a disadvantage by ourselves. It would help to have as many of your troops as you are willing to spare.

The general, as far as I know, is at the colony preparing for the attack.

Take as much time as I need. I need only to confirm that you do plan on helping us.

Yes, as far as I know, the general is in the colony, planning for Bethany's attack.
I can lead you to the colony once your troops are ready, but I don't know how much time we have before Bethany's troops arrive.

If you want, I will help in any way I can to get your troops battle-ready.

Before Lord Félix can respond, you hear a twig snap behind you. You turn and see a number of Taillows congregating at the edge of the clearing. They appear to be listening to your conversation with great interest.

Behind them, you see even more Taillows... hundreds, even.

"Er, sorry, my liege," the nearest says with a quick curtsy. "We do not mean to eavesdrop. News of this guest has spread throughout the entire colony and we're all quite excited. We've all awoken and are already prepared to help however we may. I assume we'll be executing Operation 401-x?"

"Operation 401-x indeed!" Lord Félix chimes in. "Looks like ze time 'as already come! ‡ Round 112 ‡

You and Sandy mount Lord Félix who spreads his wings wide, lets out a ferocious battle cry and shoots off into the night sky. His legion of Taillows quickly follows suit. You soar above the sprawling canopy of Ivy Woods until the trees below give way to the rolling plains of Sunshine Fields. You direct Lord Félix to the location of the Zigzagoon colony and soon draw near the beech tree which hides the entrance. Your heart sinks when you realize you're too late: you peer down below and see Lady Bethany standing in front of the entrance to the colony with her massive army by her side. No sign of the coloured Zigzagoons.

"Zigzagoons and Linoones of the Sunshine Fields colony!" Lady Bethany bellows through a powerful Echoed Voice. "It is I, Lady Bethany of Ffeffni Mountain, and I have brought my infantry to your doorstep! Though you may think you are safe hidden below in your colony... though you may think you are safe in an underground lair reinforced against those who may try to Dig their way in... you are not! We can smell you, smell all of you, and we know we are near the entrance! Come out and surrender lest we breach the walls of your colony and make you regret transforming yourselves into the abominations that you have become!"

Cloaked as you are under nightfall, they don't seem to have noticed you flying high above.

"So... ze colony... et eez under zat tree?" Lord Félix whispers. "Of course! All zis time, I 'ad no idea! But 'ow are we going to get inside?"

Let's make sure we're not seen, though. We want to keep the element of surprise.

    ‡ Round 113 ‡

Making sure you aren't spotted, you peer down at the action below and watch as a solitary figure emerges from the bush at the base of the beech tree.

"Lady Bethany, you probably don't recognize me from our last encounter," Hadley says as she gazes upon the Ffeffni army. "My name is Hadley. I... I realize I'm probably a fool to address you like this, but we have no other choice. This colony is the only home we've ever known and we cannot surrender it to you. Suresh, our interim leader, has only just fallen ill from withdrawal. As has our only general. My own brother is growing weaker by the minute and my grandmother looks like she'll have passed on by this time tomorrow night. We ask for your sympathy and your compassion. Please, don't fight us. Our numbers are dwindling and we... we know we don't stand a chance, but we'll fight nonetheless if we have to. We hope and pray you won't make us. We're not so different from you."

Lady Bethany sneers and barks laughter.

"Idiot girl!" she shrieks. "You tell us you are all but defenceless and then expect us to simply turn our tails and stroll away? We will not, because you are so different from us! You spit in our faces simply by standing there in those rainbow hues! Now, my loyal subjects... attack!"

Lady Bethany's forces start surging toward Hadley and the entrance to the colony.

    "Zut alors!" Lord Félix gasps.

I have so much other stuff I need to be doing, but I'm rather enjoying this quest.

    ‡ Round 114 ‡

Sandy Roars loudly, which causes Lady Bethany's army to stop and look up above. You give the command which Lord Félix echoes as he and his Taillows begin swooping groundward. At this moment, you see an iridescent fleet of Zigzagoons spill out of the hole at the base of the beech tree. Among them you see Georgette and a weak-looking Jackson, who both join Hadley.

Georgette, Hadley and Jackson lead their colourful comrades in a charge against their brown-and-beige counterparts, who seem unsure what to do now that not one but two armies are rushing their way. You watch as one of the Ffeffni Zigzagoons turns and fires a Thunderbolt at Lord Félix. The Swellow veers right rather sharply, which causes you and Sandy to slide off and fall to the ground where you land with a hard thud. Your Ultra Balls and Pokeballs are thrown clear away from you and land somewhere in the ensuing chaos of warring Pokemon. You also see that the impact has cost you your Illusion. You once again look like a human.

Suddenly, as battle explodes around you, Lady Bethany disentangles herself from the fray and approaches you with hate in her eyes.

"You!" she bellows as she careens toward you and Sandy.

"Oh, so you remember me. Isn't that thoughtful?"

Sandy, there's no doubt she's faster than you, so use Revenge.
    Then, use Focus Blast.
Finally, use Draco Meteor to bring about some damage to her minions as well as her.

If she attacks me, I'll dodge as best as I can.

    ‡ Round 115 ‡

Sandy steps out in front of you and spreads her arms protectively. Lady Bethany sizzles and pops with electric current as she discharges a tremendous Thunder Wave that Paralyzes your Druddigon through and through. Nonetheless, Sandy retains enough muscular control to respond with a series of melee attacks that damage the Linoone matriarch significantly. Lady Bethany then hits hard with an Ice Beam; though Sandy avoids getting Frozen, Paralysis causes her body to go rigid. You then watch as Lady Bethany strikes with a Headbutt but then stumbles back as she takes minor damage from Sandy's Rough Skin.

When Sandy regains control over her body, she raises her arms skyward and causes a meteor to fall. The powerful attack hits Lady Bethany and a few of the other Pokemon nearby, including one colourful Zigzagoon and four Taillows. Since the damage is spread evenly between the six targets, it's minimized. Your injured allies shoot Sandy dirty looks. Friendly fire ain't so friendly.

Rock Smash ~ Swagger ~ Revenge

Meanwhile, I'm gonna keep a look out for any pokeballs.
