    TEAM BTPOKE'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Ivy Woods
A dense forest where a thick fog lingers. There are Grass and Bug types everywhere you turn. Look up and you'll find Flying types are enjoying the highest reaches of the trees.

    ‡ Round 207 ‡

Bethany leads you southward for a few minutes and you follow her without asking any questions. Soon, she reaches a large cluster of elderberry bushes which she pulls back. Suddenly, a familiar figure leaps out of the bushes and into your arms.

You hold your prickly Jolteon and look out at the fifty-odd Zigzagoon camped at the forest's edge. None of them are conscious. You see Georgette, Hadley and Jackson among the Pokemon. Their eyes are closed, but at least their chests are still heaving.

"I came across them here a few hours ago," Bethany explains dryly. "I suppose they took refuge here since they would have been sitting Psyducks out there in the open field. So you have about fifty Zigzagoon here... and a hundred and fifty Zigzagoon who are also sick and unconscious still trapped inside the colony? Golly, that fountain stuff is practically poison."

    How do you proceed?

Yeah, bet you're glad you never drank that stuff now, aren't ya?

And it's glad to have you back, Veronica. Sorry it took us so long, we had to go on an unexpectedly long journey to get Latios back.

Ok, first things first, we need to find some way to transport the water to these zigzagoon. I might know how to get in there incognito, but we need to figure out how to transport the water to these zigzagoon.

    Any Ideas?

    ‡ Round 208 ‡

Bethany and Latios trade off uncertain looks.

"Well, I don't have any buckets or wheelbarrows tucked under my tail, if that's what you're asking," Bethany says. "We'd have to make several trips back and forth between the Soul Fountain and the Zigzagoon here, but that's awfully risky. We might be better off trying to heal the sick Zigzagoon and Linoone still unconscious inside the colony."

Suddenly, Hadley stirs and her eyes barely open.

"Gran," she croaks before her eyes flutter shut once again.

"Right, yes, anyway," Bethany continues, pressing on. "If we transported the fountain water to the hundred and fifty Zigzagoon and Linoone still inside the colony, which would be a much easier task, then we'd be able to get them up to fighting strength and take on Lord Frackface and his bird-brained buffoons. We'd be down in numbers, but with a Pokemon trainer and a Legendary Pokemon on our side... as well as the Zigzagoon's superior knowledge of their own colony... and, you know, me, because I'm pretty great as well... then we might be able to pull off something."

    How do you proceed?

good point, yes. And now we'll have to find out some way to sneak in.

Fortunately for us, I know of a pokemon that can give us an illusion... for a price... ugh.

If you guys have any better ideas than mine, that would be VERY appreciated. If not... get your brains ready, 'cause we'll probably need to solve some riddles.

    ‡ Round 209 ‡

"Your idea is quite good, human. Fortunately, I am gifted with the art of mirage; moreover, I do not require that one answer riddles in payment for my gifts. Hold still," Latios says as he closes his eyes. You watch as light begins to fold itself around your body and change your appearance, covering you in a bright, feathery down. In no time at all, you see that you have taken on the guise of a coloured Taillow. Your allies have been similarly transformed. "Bear in mind that these are only mirages, so you will not be able to actually fly. These mirages will not break if you are struck with an attack, but they do last a finite amount of time.* You will know when they are about to fall."

    ... THANK YOU!

for a second there, I thought I was gonna have to answer another dumb riddle!

If we're all ready, then, I assume Latios can fly us to the colony?

    Sunshine Fields
A large rolling plain that overlooks TPML, the grass is soft and the air tasty. A plethora of grass Pokemon are found here as they enjoy the tickling breeze and the bright sunshine. Bird and normal-types are also found here. Far to the north, a small rocky outcropping exists.

    ‡ Round 210 ‡

You, Veronica and Bethany hop aboard Latios who shoots off into the sky once more. The landscape becomes an amorphous blur for only a second and then goes normal again as you come within sight of the familiar beech tree in the middle of the plain. You dismount and spy a pair of Taillow stationed outside the colony's concealed entrance. When you see their coloured plumage, you realize they have indeed been drinking from the Soul Fountain.

They don't appear to have noticed you just yet.

Incidentally, you also see a bunch of Hoppip and Cottonee wafting lazily overhead.

    How do you proceed?

    > Attack the pair of Taillow

hey, latios, could you please get us over to those hoppip and cottonee?

"Hey, do you mind doing a guy a favor and distracting those two taillow over there?"

If they create the distraction, we'll head on in.

    ‡ Round 211 ‡

Latios flies you up to the Hoppip and Cottonee, whom you ask for assistance.

"Golly, aren't you just the cutest little Taillow?" one of the Hoppip says brightly. "A distraction, you say? Ooh, that sounds like fun! We'll see what we can do."

You return to the ground as the airborne Grass-types begin to float about in various formations. They create a number of recognizable shapes in the air: a heart, a star, a clover and... something shockingly graphic and inappropriate you'd rather not have to look at. For cute little Pokemon, the Hoppip and Cottonee sure have a crass sense of humour. Nonetheless, the plan works: the two Taillow guards look up at the various shapes in surprise.

"What... the heck?" the first one asks.

"Ew!" the second chirps, shielding her eyes with her wings.

While the two guards are distracted by the lewd air show, you, Veronica, Latios and Bethany scurry past. You push aside the artificial shrub and slip into the colony entrance. You find yourself in the plastered and carpeted hallway you remember from your last visit to the Zigzagoon den, which feels like a lifetime ago. You follow the hallway until you come upon the familiar underground city with its various buildings and cobbled streets. Numerous coloured birds dart about in the air overhead. Whooping loudly and causing a general ruckus, they seem drunk on their own sense of entitlement.

    How do you proceed?

    > Find Sandy and Catherine
    > Find the sick Zigzagoon and Linoone

    ‡ Round 212 ‡

Latios closes his eyes and hums for a second.

"I can sense their energy. They're alive and safe. They are... north-east, not too far, in that direction," Latios says, opening his eyes and nodding toward a narrow, winding street. "If you prefer, you could fetch your Pokemon while Bethany and I locate some manner of transporting the liquid from the Soul Fountain to the ailing Zigzagoon and Linoone."

"Oh, splitting up, lovely," Bethany mutters, rolling her eyes. "Can't see how that could possibly go wrong."

No, splitting up is NEVER a good idea. There are all sorts of things that could go wrong.

I know we have limited time, but I think it would be better if we stayed together.

    ‡ Round 213 ‡

Deciding to stick together, you wind down the narrow street with Latios leading the way. He follows his Psychic impulses and soon you find yourself staring up at a familiar old building with the words Colony Library stamped out front. Latios nods to confirm that this is indeed the location of your captive Pokemon. You climb the steps toward the front doors but find a coloured Taillow blocking the way.

"Can't let you in, I'm afraid," she chirps in a low voice. "Lord Félix's orders. This is where the Druddigon and Rapidash are being kept."

"You're keeping them locked up in a library?" Bethany asks in disbelief.

"Sure, why not?" the Taillow responds. "It's not like this underground colony has prison cells ready-made for us. This here is a sturdy building, it's got heavy doors with reliable locks, plenty of informative books about how to subdue captive Pokemon... seems like as good a place as any for the prisoners, right?"

    CYNDER'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    Platrin Plateau
A strange, mysterious temple set high in the sky. Here, you will find exceptionally strong Pokemon in the various rooms and spaces of this ancient land set high in the sky. If you are lucky, you may stumble on a Legend or two?

    ‡ Round 224 ‡

Rhode ups the ante a bit with a series of crackling electrical moves. Sparking and popping with electric current, he delivers two tremendous long-ranged blasts followed up with a powerful punch to Gyarados's scaled side. The beast's pleasant mannerisms appear to have gone out the window at this point: he roars and bellows and makes quite a fuss before responding with a series of Hydro Pumps. Two makes contact with Rhode, doing significant damage, but Paralysis robs Gyarados of the opportunity to deliver a third. Once again, he's forced to go stiff as a board... a really angry, really ugly board.

*whisper* "Latios, could you jiggle the doors a lot using psychic?"

In the meantime, I'll be straying the taillow's view away from latios in case any sign of him using psychic can be seen.

"Hey, did you hear that? I think the prisoners are trying to escape"

If the taillow opens the doors to check, I'll have latios use psychic to force the taillow inside, where we'll follow him in and close the doors. Hopefully the library is soundproof.

"Bethany, use thunder wave. Veronica, use Yawn. Latios, use psychic to keep him (that includes his mouth) from moving."

    ‡ Round 214 ‡

Latios uses his Psychic powers to jiggle the door as you trick the Taillow into thinking Sandy and Catherine are escaping.

Sure enough, Taillow hops over to the door and swings it open. With that, Latios uses Psychic to violently thrust the coloured bird into the library. You quickly follow and slam the door shut behind you. Bethany, Veronica and Latios prepare a series of attacks to overwhelm Taillow, but she simply envelops herself inside a Protective bubble and renders the attacks ineffective. Oh, right. That was an option. Taillow begins shouting at the top of her lungs.

"Help!" she shrieks. "I'm being attacked! I'm being attacked!"

You hear a flapping of wings as four figures emerge from behind a row of shelves.

Two are holding water pistols and the other two are clutching bags of... ice cubes? The Taillows drop their possessions and lunge toward you.

"Nice friggin' job there!" Bethany blares, shooting you a dirty look. "What are you? New?"

Oh, like you could've done better!

Veronica, use Discharge! Bethany, use Blizzard!

Latios, quickly fly over to where Sandy and Catherine are and see if you can break them out! Use whatever moves necessary to get through them.

I hope Veronica and Bethany will be enough to at least keep these guys at bay temporarily.

    ‡ Round 215 ‡

Latios flies off to find Sandy and Catherine. Hoping he returns quickly, you engage the five super-strong Taillows in battle using two not-super-strong Pokemon, because you apparently get a kick out of battles with overwhelming odds. Veronica and Catherine use wide-ranging attacks, firing sundry Blizzards and Discharges at the Taillows. However, the birds use wide-ranging attacks of their own, firing Heat Wave after Heat Wave at your Pokemon. When all is said and done, two of the Taillows are Frozen... and both of your Pokemon are defeated. Er, how many times has this happened now?

With Veronica and Bethany out of commission, the Taillows begin to advance upon you. Now you really hope Latios returns quickly.

You turn your head and see that he's brought two familiar Pokemon.

    ‡ Round 225 ‡

Rhode goes in for one final ThunderPunch, but Gyarados fends off the attempted strike with a Protective barrier... which is good, because it would have completely killed Gyarados. With that, you throw the Ultra Ball which sucks Gyarados into its cavity. The ball falls into the fountain with a splash.

You pause and then approach the side of the fountain to see if your capture was successful. However, before you can find this information for yourself, you suddenly find yourself Teleported to the Safari Zone front desk. Oh, well. There's your answer. You have impeccable timing, latios. It's also great to have my pokemon back... again... I need to stop losing pokemon.

Catherine, Sandy, use heat wave! Latios, use Icy Wind!

    TEAM BTPOKE'S SAFARI ADVENTCHA!

    ‡ Round 217 ‡

You command Latios to use Icy Wind and Sandy and Catherine to use Heat Wave. ('Cept Sandy can't use Heat Wave 'cause BW2 haven't been released in North America yet. Derp.) The Taillows respond with some ranged attacks of their own directed at Latios, but their efforts aren't enough. They soon fall to the ground, defeated under heaps of snow and ash.

"Well done, human," Latios intones. "I located several spare water pistols while hunting for your Pokemon. I believe we can empty their chambers and fill them with fountain water. With the six of us working together to heal the hundred and fifty ill Zigzagoon and Linoone in the colony, each of us will be responsible for restoring twenty-five of them. I estimate that the water pistols can easily hold twenty-five mouthfuls of fountain water apiece."

    Suddenly, Veronica and Bethany stir.

"Oh, you defeated the bird brains. Good," Bethany mumbles. "I'm glad something went right."

    How do you proceed?

    > Remain here
    > Recall Sandy and Catherine
    > Get Latios to provide Sandy and Catherine with mirages

Latios, how about you heal everyone with a few Heal Pulses real quick, then can you give Catherine and Sandy some Mirages?

After that, we'll head out to the fountain. We're gonna have to figure out some way to seal these taillow in here for a long enough time, though.

Latios, did you happen to see a room that has no windows?

Veronica, use Thunder Wave on all of them, while Catherine also uses Hypnosis. That should make things pretty hard on them.

Bethany, before they fall asleep, keep knocking some attacks the taillows' way so that they don't regain any more health. Frankly, I don't care what attacks you use. Whatever strikes your fancy, I guess, but be sure to hit each of them with simple beam before anything.

Sandy, use dig to dig a hole in the ground. Make it pretty deep, so it'll be pretty difficult for them to get out.

Latios, encase the inside of the hole with ice using ice beam. I'm sure the taillow will have a pretty uncomfortable time getting out of a hole that's really cold.
Yes, we're taking many precautions. We need to do this fast, though, so let's hop to it.

After that, we'll make our way out towards the fountain.

    ‡ Round 219 ‡

Your teammates use a hodgepodge of moves to overwhelm the Taillows and transport them to an adjacent room. Sandy Digs a hole in the ground which Latios lines in ice and you then toss the birds in before sealing it shut. If that's not a perfect way to give someone traumatic claustrophobia (not to mention a head cold), I don't know what is.

With that, you grab the water pistols and head out. You wind through various streets until you arrive once again at the Soul Fountain. You hear its running water, but you can't actually see the thing this time: it's obstructed by no less than fifty coloured Taillows who are laughing and whooping and drinking from its shallows.

"How do you figure we should fill our guns without the locals noticing?" Bethany asks.

    How do you proceed?

    > Good question, Bethany

    ‡ Round 220 ‡

Fortunately, it appears as though the Taillows aren't exactly the smartest creatures in the Safari Zone. At the first mention of a buffet, half the birds beeline toward the exit.

"They're even handing out free iPhones, too!" Bethany exclaims and the other half quickly follows. Bethany chuckles. "They don't even know what an iPhone is. Priceless."

However, you realize one Pokemon hasn't taken off toward the fictional buffet.

"No buffet or pie-phones for me, I'm afraid!" she chirps. "It's my turn to guard the Druddigon and Rapidash. Enjoy, guys!"

She then takes flight and begins heading toward the library. Bethany facepalms.

    How do you proceed?

    ‡ Round 222 ‡

Latios closes his eyes and hums.

"I think I can sense them," he says after a moment. "Their energies are weak because of the sickness, but I... believe I might have a lock. Let us make haste."

You follow Latios for a few minutes, but he seems to be having trouble following his Psychic sense. After a short while, you begin to hear screams coming from some distant street.

"Ermahgerd!" shouts a faraway voice. You recognize it as the voice of the purple Taillow. "The prisoners are gone! The library guards have been attacked! Raise the alarm! Someone do something! Quickly, quickly!"

You see a number of alarmed Taillows darting about in the air overhead. A chorus of bewildered cries fill the colony.

"They're going to double up the security on the sick Zigzagoon and Linoone if we're not expeditious," Latios whispers.

    How do you proceed?

    ‡ Round 223 ‡

You shout something, but it's barely audible over the rising din of panicked voices. Eventually, Latios leads you to a tall white building marked Infirmary. You see two guards out front.

"What do we do?" the first asks. "Do you think someone has told Lord Félix?"

"I don't know!" the second snaps. "I'm freaking out! Do I have hives? I think I have hives. I think I'm getting hives. I'm definitely getting hives. Oh no. Not hives!"
