    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 4 ‡

The two remaining battlers exchange fiery looks before making their bids for victory. Shindo puffs up like a balloon before detonating like a bomb... of lightning, that is! (Idk, that line made sense in my head for some reason.) The Jigglypuff discharges electric current in no small amount and directs this upheaval at Squirt, who is promptly charred through and through. The Kanto starter retreats into its shell and begins spinning rapidly, spraying heavy surges of water all over the field. Shindo is struck by one of the blasts and tumbles backward before landing in a very wet heap. Effing turtles shouldn't even be able to pull of shenanigans like that.

    Shindo: <-14 HP; -10 EP>
    Squirt: <-18 HP; -10 EP>

Shindo keeps up the electrical games with a swift and precise Thunderbolt. The attack saturates Squirt's body with heavy voltage and throws the turtle onto its back, where it wobbles precariously for an embarrassing moment as it struggles to set itself straight. When at last Squirt scrambles to its feet, the little Water-type lowers its head. White energy surrounds its body and its constitution increases.

    Shindo: <-8 EP>
    Squirt: <-15 HP; -4 EP; +1 Def>

Everybody's favourite pink balloon prepares to deliver another attack but its body has different plans. Shindo locks up with Paralysis and isn't able to do anything other than directing a dirty look at Cicero's lifeless carcass (somebody, um, needs to put that thing away; it's kinda gross and weird). The Jigglypuff's glare very much has a "thanks for the memento, jackass!" feel to it. However, Shindo turns out to have bigger problems than souvenirs left by spiteful Dragonites. Head bowed, Squirt comes tearing forward and clobbers Shindo with a mighty Skull Bash. The Jigglypuff is sent rolling like a hoola-hoop on the loose before eventually hitting one of the arena barricades and flopping over. It's not easy being green round.

    Shindo: <-10 HP; Can't move!>
    Squirt: <-4 EP>

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

    Notes:

    > Shindo will be able to use Hydro Pump at half power for two more actions, at which point the move will be forgotten

    ‡ Round 5 ‡

Not a good time for Paralysis to kick in for poor Squirt. The turtle's body goes completely stiff and still as Shindo finishes things with one final electrical blast. Squirt takes the hit and promptly keels over, defeated. Unfortunately, there's no consolation prize for coming in second.

And with that, we have a winner!

    Shindo: <-8 EP>
    Squirt: <-4 HP>

Genders are now active, abilities still aren't, we're still using the pre-Gen IV Physical/Special split and we've moved on to the post-Gen I type chart.

Sneasel is weak to Steel while Skarmory takes neutral damage from Ice, so you're perhaps better off than Cynder.

Robirdo, use Agility to dodge the first Flamethrower.
Next, use Swagger on Fire Guy, and dodge the flamethrower while he's confused.
Finally, if Fire Guy fails to use Protect, use Mud Slap on both Mika and Fire Guy as soon as Mika makes contact with Fire Guy. If you can only hit one, though, hit Fire Guy.
If he doesn't fail to use protect, charge up a sky attack.

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 6 ‡

Generation II, we're coming for yooou! The three Pokemon trainers recall their Pogeys and ready new selections. Red light fills the arena as we watch the grand entrance of three new battlers: a frigid little weasel, an armoured avian and Johto's very own Fire-type starter. The fisticuffs get underway as Miko makes an early decision to peace out of the battle. He uses his fiendish claws to rip through the arena floor, quickly disappearing out of sight. Some folks are just shy like that. Fire Guy, however, isn't shy at all and boldly sprays hot flames in Robirdo's direction. Despite all that heavy steel on his wings and body, the Skarmory proves to be an agile Flyer. With a dart here and a deke there, he manages to avoid the Flamethrower wholesale. Cicero would be proud.

    Miko: <-2 EP>
    Robirdo: <-4 EP; +2 Spd>
    Fire Guy: <-8 EP>

While Miko continues his Switzerland strategy underground, Robirdo puts his newfound Speed to the test. He jauntily Swaggers across the field with such pomp and ego that Fire Guy is thrown into a bewildered rage. The Cyndaquil lets out a wail and jets off a second Flamethrower, but the little tyke's unpredictable state of mind makes hard for Robirdo to determine where the next attack will land. Robirdo ends up dodging right into the oncoming stream of flames, but pulls back before he can take more than half the damage he would have otherwise incurred from a full hit. Phew.

    Miko: <...>
    Robirdo: <-7 HP; -4 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-8 EP; +2 Att; Cfn>

Suddenly, the ground begins rumbling right underneath Fire Guy. Hey, Miko's home! Fire Guy tries to Protect himself, but his ire and Confusion is such that he ends up chomping on his leg instead, which leaves him entirely vulnerable for the upswell that comes next. A pressurized geyser blasts through the ground and takes Fire Guy with it; among the surging dirt and water, one can just barely make out Miko striking his Cyndaquil opponent with a few Ground-type swipes. Fire Guy hits the ground like a rag doll while Miko dextrously lands beside him before striking a victorious pose. So nice of you to have joined us, Miko! As poor Fire Guy gets back up to his feet, he winds up taking a Mud-Slap to the face and falls back over. Jeepers. Somebody looks to be having a rough go of things.

    Miko: <-10 EP>
    Robirdo: <-2 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-27 HP; -5 HP Cfn; -1 Acc>

I think the term "Cicero" should just become synonymous for someone who has failed.

"Romney is definitely going to be the Cicero of this election."

"I locked my keys in my car and felt like such a Cicero!"

"Man, Oslo, you really Cicero'd that reffing..."

more like synonymous for "someone who has been ganged up on."
Also, oslo, where's the accuracy drop from Mud Slap?

Let's start things out with a sandstorm. Once it's up, though, get the heck out of the way of any attacks that are thrown at you.
Next, use Whirlwind to blow sand in Fire Guy's face. The less visibility he has, the better. If a super effective attack comes from Miko, though, sub in an agility to dodge it.
Next, let's use Steel Wing on Miko. If Fire guy uses/has used sunny day at all this round, use Sandstorm. MAKE SURE, if you do use sandstorm, that it goes last in the turn, and watch to see what both of them do.

Get in a quick Agility to dodge whatever Fire Guy throws at you then Dig underground again. Finish up with a Double Team and that's enough for now.

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 7 ‡

Shenanigans continue as Robirdo turns his head skyward and lets out a piercing squawk. Sand rolls in from the distance and blankets the battlefield in an instant, obfuscating everything within a beigeish haze. Robirdo then turns his attention back to his opponents, but not fast enough. A Flamethrower rises toward him faster than he can dodge; however, as it turns out, there's no need. The stream of flames goes wide, missing the Skarmory narrowly. Phew! Meanwhile, Miko, seeing that he's not in danger, decides to do a lap around the perimeter of the field... because, well, why not?

    Miko: <-4 EP; +2 Spd>
    Robirdo: <-4 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-8 EP>

Once again the fastest kid in town, Miko makes quick work of the ground and Digs back down to safety. Leaving us again so soon? Entirely focused on Fire Guy, Robirdo kicks up one hell of a gale with his wings, which works in tandem with the storm around him. Sand rushes directly toward Fire Guy, who hunkers down and unwisely breathes a Flamethrower straight into the Whirlwind. (I mean, he's still Confused. Guess you can't blame the guy.) The hot flames are propelled back toward him, singeing his face greatly. But hey, at least none of that sand got in his eyes, so that's something!

    Miko: <-2 EP>
    Robirdo: <-4 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-6 HP; -8 EP>

Safely out of the action, Miko does a little spin on the spot... which is actually quite difficult when you're underground, but hey, he pulls it off. However, there's very little space down there and the surroundings are far too saturated with soil particles, which means the clones vanish without even being given a fighting chance. Sadface. Fire Guy, whose Confusion has been latent this entire round, suddenly is overwhelmed with another psychotic episode as he begins smacking himself in the snout. Fortunately, his sanity slowly makes its return; looks like punching away the crazies actually works! Meanwhile, Robirdo decides to deliver a Steel Wing-shaped package to his good friend Miko... if only he can find the little squirt. Since he didn't see the Sneasel Dig away, he's not quite sure where he went. He spends the remainder of the round searching his sandy surroundings for the absent battler but ends up unsuccessful. Robirdo roosts and scratches his head. Uh. Where'd he go?

    Miko: <-4 EP; 0 clones>
    Robirdo: <...>
Fire Guy: <-5 HP Cfn; Cfn no more>

Fire Guy's skin is irritated by all that ferkin' sand <-3 HP>.

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

    Notes:

    > Unless overcome, Sandstorm will remain in effect for six more actions
    > Miko can spend two more actions underground before he'll start taking suffocation damage, which will increase in severity (-5 HP, -10 HP, -15 HP, etc.) every action

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 8 ‡

With two Pokemon nearly tied and a third lagging behind, this match-up is looking oddly similar to the last. Fire Guy lets out a timorous squeak as the ground beneath him begins to shudder; it then explodes in an upswell of dirt and debris. Miko is once again in the heart of all that chaos and lashes out at Fire Guy with a few well-aimed swipes. If that's not enough, Robirdo emerges from the Sandstorm and spits out a glob of purplish goo at the ailing Cyndaquil. Badly Poisoned by the surprise strike, Fire Guy shoots both of his opponents a dirty look before thinking optimistic thoughts. Suddenly, sand swells subside and sunlight starts surging. (Sufferin' succotash!)

    Miko: <-2 EP>
    Robirdo: <-4 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-9 HP; -4 EP; Txc>

Unfortunately, Fire Guy's Sunny Day ends up being nothing more than a Sunny Eleven Seconds. Miko hand jives animatedly, calling forth dark cloud to overtake the sun and spill cold raindrops all over the battle. Fifteen feet above the ground and already enveloped in a silvery bubble, Robirdo maintains his distance while Fire Guy swells with anger. The timid Pokemon shows his not-so-timid side by lashing out at Miko with a series of yellow shuriken and an unexpected Headbutt. Fire Guy's Rain Dancing rival takes the combo hit and stumbles into a mud puddle. He then grimaces. Uh-oh. You never wanna piss off a Sneasel.

    Miko: <-15 HP; -4 EP>
    Robirdo: <-8 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-9 EP>

For the second time this round, the ground beneath Fire Guy's feet starts to rumble. Hurr? Suddenly, a geyser of great power surges upward and sends Fire Guy way up into the air, which I'm sure would be fun if it weren't completely terrifying. Fire Guy, who's Ciceroing hard, lands on his back in a pit of mud and moans weakly. Meanwhile, Robirdo swoops downward and clonks Miko upside the head with a Steel Wing. The Skarmory squawks with cruel birdish laughter. Blunt force cranial trauma ftw.

    Miko: <-13 HP; -8 EP>
    Robirdo: <-5 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-20 HP>

Oh, and now Fire Guy gets to enjoy a bit of Toxic time <-3 HP>.

Miko, you really should be a mole. :U Start by hitting Robirdo with a Surf then Dig back underground and relax there for now.

    wait, WHEN DID YOU POST!?

ugh. To think i almost missed this.

Protect against that first onslaught of attacks.
Once Miko goes underground, use mud slap to seal up the hole it will probably leave behind.
Finally, we'll use Agility to dodge that last Flamethrower

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 9 ‡

Rain continues to fall as Miko and Fire Guy decide a little teamwork is required if they're going to ground that bird once and for all. Miko calls up a geyser of water while Fire Guy sprays hot flames into the air, which make for an easy decision on Robirdo's part. The Skarmory confidently envelops himself within another silvery bubble, Protecting himself from any and all harm. C'mon, guys. Is that all you've got?

    Miko: <-8 EP>
    Robirdo: <-8 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-8 EP>

Ever the introvert, Miko once again Digs down out of sight. He pushes the earth behind him as he tunnels, sealing the route behind him, but Robirdo nonetheless decides to seal it up even more with a splatter of mud. Fire Guy, meanwhile, thinks sunny thoughts. The storm clouds part and arena is once again bathed in a bright, warm light. Feels like a day at the beach! Did somebody say pina coladas? Where's my cabana boy?!

    Miko: <-2 EP>
    Robirdo: <-2 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-4 EP>

Because I'm apparently omniscient and/or can see through dirt, I am able to report to you all that Miko is in fact Relaxing down there in his hidey-hole. Meanwhile, back above the ground, Fire Guy is once again shooting hot flames into the sky. Robirdo is unperturbed and rapidly veers out of the Flamethrower's path before doing circles way up in the air. Whee! I'm sure if he had a house he'd be able to see it from up there.

    Miko: <+6 EP>
    Robirdo: <-4 EP; +2 Spd>
    Fire Guy: <-8 EP>

Fire Guy loses some health to ensure somebody takes damage this round <-5 HP>.

G'ah! I keep forgetting about this! What is wrong with me!? Thank you for reminding me, Oslo.

use Sandstorm to rustle things up, once more.

If Miko comes out of his little hidey-hole, use Steel wing on him. If not, then attack Fire-Guy, instead. Then use Mud-Slap on Fire Guy.

Dig up and hit Fire Guy, and then, you guessed it, Dig back underground before Robirdo can hit you. Finish up by Digging up to hit Fire Guy if he's still standing, otherwise Dig up and hit Robirdo with a Surf.

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 10 ‡

Having gone three rounds without losing a speck of health (surely that's some sort of ASB record? for single battles, anyway?), Robirdo is feeling awfully confident. The bird flaps his wings hard, thereby coaxing another surge of sand to billow into the arena. Shielding his face from the storm, Fire Guy treads backward, which alerts a certain underground Sneasel to his presence. Yet again, Miko claws his way up to the surface and smacks Fire Guy right in the tukus with a surprise hit. The Cyndaquil wails and falls over before using all of his optimism to drive that Sandstorm away. Sunlight once again illuminates the battlefield. Truthfully, I'm not sure the sand was your biggest problem, my little squeaky-eyed friend, but I admire the effort.

    Miko: <-2 EP>
    Robirdo: <-4 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-9 HP; -4 EP>

Miko decides to do what Miko does best: Dig away! Whoo! However, Robirdo isn't having any of it. Since he's markedly faster than his taloned opponent, the Skarmory has no problem swooping in and clonking Miko over the head with a silvery wing. Robirdo's Defence rises as a result. Though he's too slow to avoid the Steel Wing, Miko does, fortunately, manage to slip back underground just as Fire Guy releases a sizzling Flamethrower. The flames hit the mound of earth left in Miko's wake. Argh. Curse that friggin' Drilbur wannabe.

    Miko: <-13 HP; -2 EP>
    Robirdo: <-5 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-8 EP>

This is not the best moment for Fire Guy. Not only does a Mud-Slap come raining down at him from above, but the ground beneath him also stirs and explodes in a cascade of dirt and talons. Miko slashes at the Fire Guy with some quick swipes and knocks him out of the battle once and for all. Cue respectful moment of silence.

    ...'KAY GUYS, MOMENT OVER.

    TIMEZ FOR MOAR FIGHTINZ.

    Miko: <-2 EP>
    Robirdo: <-2 EP>
    Fire Guy: <-8 HP; -1 Acc>

So, now we have two terms based on two of my pokemon

    1. Cicero. Verb. To do something with remarkably insignificant success.

    2. Robirdo. Verb. To do something with remarkably significant success.

    Sort of polar opposites, yes?

oh, no fair. all my good moves are ONLY physical attacks! xD

Alright, Robirdo, let's take flight! (not literally using fly... birds can take flight without using the MOVE fly, right? xD)
Maneuver around/over the surf and use toxic to poison that thing.

Then let's try to dodge the ice beam before going for a mud slap.

Finally, wait until that dude's done with his water tricks, dodging it as best as you can, and then we'll go in for a REAL attack! Use Steel Wing to hit him hard!

    ‡ Pre-Round ‡

    ‡ Round 11 ‡

Now that Fire Guy is pushing daisies, Miko and Robirdo are left to duke it out for the title of top dog... or, uh, top weasel/bird-thing. Putting some space between himself and the ground, Robirdo takes flight and observes his frigid opponent carefully. Miko raises his arms and shoots a terrific surge of water at Robirdo, which the Skarmory tries to dodge... to no effect. Agile he may be, Robirdo nonetheless gets snatched up by a finger of water and is sent tumbling through the air. However, the raging sunlight puts a damper on the attack, so it's not as effective as it could have been. Once Robirdo has adjusted himself, he boots up the Household and Industrial Poison factory latent in his belly and pukes up some steaming purple whatever all over Miko. At first, Miko thinks it's bird droppings, but... nope, it's worse.

    Miko: <-8 EP; Txc>
    Robirdo: <-5 HP; -4 EP>

Flying about evasively, Robirdo prepares to dodge any pesky Ice Beam that comes his way as he swoops in close for a Mud-Slap. Miko takes a glob of goo to the face; snarling, he then leaps forward and just barely manages to snag Robirdo by the talons. With a grunt, he Counters the muddy move by slamming Robirdo against the ground. Pow! It does next to nothing but, hey, a hit is a hit. More or less. I suppose.

    Miko: <-1 HP; -8 EP; -1 Acc>
    Robirdo: <-2 HP; -2 EP>

As the harsh sunlight persists, Miko raises his arms and fires off another geyser of water. (Hey, bro, is this Indigo Plateau or a splash park?) (Bro, why would there be a geyser in a splash park?) (Stfu, bro, you know what I meant.) Even though Miko's Accuracy has been compromised, the geyser spills outward in a broad wave of water which Robirdo simply can't evade. He's struck by the Sun-weakened Water move and, once the deluge has settled, he smashes Miko in the face with another Steel Wing. HAR HAR HAR, etc.

    Miko: <-13 HP; -8 EP>
    Robirdo: <-5 HP; -5 EP>

Miko looks like he's gonna blow chunks <-3 HP>.

    ‡ Post-Round ‡

    Notes:

    > Like I said at the end of the previous set, we're under the pre-Gen IV Physical/Special split... so Mud-Slap is indeed Counterable! :3
    > Unless overcome, Sunny Day will remain in effect for three more actions
