    Default Gym Test Run: The Byzantine Blitz! (Cynder vs. Rossymore, Ref: Darkestlight)

    The future is inevitable. Why fight it? Simply embrace the fact that time passes and the world changes, and it is then that we will truly be free from the restraints of the past. That is the moral of everyone living in the Byzantine Blitz, and that is where your challenge today will take place. As mayor and founder, I welcome you to my humble city, and hope you can keep up with the fast paced lifestyle.

    -~-~-

    The city is made up of three levels; the ground, the lotuses, and the airships. Each level is completely unique and accomodates three different battle styles, single, double and triple; though battlers can move from one platform to the others at will. However, using more Pokemon than can be accomodated on one level isn't recommended - it can cause civillians distress and increases the chance of casualties, which is highly discouraged.

    The ground level of the city is much like the city of London; a river divides the city in half and a bridge runs straight across. For ground dwelling Pokemon there isn't a lot of room to move safely; there is little space between roads and buildings which can hinder maneuverability and the only real open space is the river, making battle for the less agile Pokemon incredibly difficult. On this field battles are 1 on 1 between 2 Pokemon.

    As the battle progresses it will enter rush hour; a time when passing cars are most frequent and stepping onto roads in near enough suicide. This means that Pokemon that step on the road have a 70% chance of getting hit, a rise from the 25% chance of the rest of the battle; getting hit will cause damage similar to a Giga Impact, depending on the speed that the car travels at. Damage from the cars is in addition to the damage cap; this means that a Pokemon can take up to 40 HP damage in one turn as per the regular cap, with the damage from cars on top. Rush hour occurs every 7 rounds and lasts a round.

    Next level up are the lotuses, which are accessed by an elevator that trainers can travel up when one of the first matchup concludes. As shown in the image, the lotuses are above the city resting atop golden pillars that spiral to the ground and stand in groups of three. While many are smaller in diameter than pictured, they are still of an impressive size and are large enough to accomodate four large Pokemon comfortably, and are within flying distance of one another.

    On each lotus is a beautiful garden with a sheltered lake in the centre, once per 5 rounds Pokemon can drink from the pool to regain energy or eat a berry from one of the nearby trees to cure a status or heal back some HP. This doesn't expend an action, but the lapse in time can be used to the opponent's advantage as they can use it to boost or attack without a loss of energy, or a lessened loss in the case of moves with over 70 base power.

    Finally, the top layer is a giant steampunk-style zeppelin, which is surrounded by many smaller zeppelins that will occaisionally attack using a missile to do around 8-10 HP damage, and how often this occurs is to the ref's discretion. At the top of the zeppelin is a battlefield large enough to hold 6 large Pokemon, though it is highly encouraged to use the sky around to an advantage. Obviously the zeppelin is moving, so it is important that Pokemon in the battle can hold their ground and remain stable at such heights, as otherwise there's a chance they could fall off which would count as an instant KO. Don't worry, though; your Pokemon will be perfectly safe as there is a forcefield in action which causes any Pokemon that falls through it to be returned to their Poke Ball unharmed.

    As mentioned previously, Pokemon are battling atop a volatile airship so it is inadvisable to change the weather too much; thus stronger weather based attacks such as hurricane are banned. This also includes Rain Dance, Hail, Blizzard, Thunder, and any other attacks reliant on weather conditions other than sun. Sandstorm would have no effect due to the lack of sand at such a high altitude.

    Move tutor: Fiery Dance

    The Ascendancy Badge

    Battle theme: [link]
    I want this to be nice and quick so let's say a DQ time of a flexible 3 days? I'll send out first when challenger has posted, we're starting on the city (first) level so it's one on one. The battle will be 6 on 6 in total, tournament style so when a round is won/lost, both teams send out new Pokemon.

    Also, I'd like it if I've never battled the challenger before, or it's been a while since I last battled them.

    Alright, I could use my Raichu and murder you, but that wouldn't be fun at all. Eifie, my shiny female Espeon with Synchronize (should really change the ability) is up first!

    Okay, Calm Mind, then blast it with Psychic. Then trip it up with Grass Knot.

    Start off with a Dragon Dance while Espeon boosts, then hit her with Swagger and finish with a single Outrage.

    ::Whips something new up::

    Just a hodgepodge of testing.

    ===Stipulations===

    Gym test run.
    Lvl 1: London-2 man
    Hazards: Cars (GI), less maneuverability, Rush Hour ever 7th round. (70>25%)

    Lvl 2: Lotus-4 man
    Benefits: Pool=5Hp, Berries=5E
    Hazards: Consumption of berry allows opponent no/minimal (Atk >70%) loss of energy if attacking/boosting

    Lvl 3: Zeppelin-6 man
    Hazards: Missile fire=8-10Hp
    Banned moves: Weather alterations except Sun, Hurricane, Whirlwind, Blizzard, Thunder, etc

    ===Battlers===

    ===Round 1===

    Whoo. I'm in LONDON! Bloody right on ya! There's no real way to describe being in a city...that's just a damn city...with people and..wow Boston has nothing on these roads, that's absolutely bonkers. People really can't drive here. Well, as I fix my flat, and grab my bubble, I say that there are Pokemon not 20 yards away from me.

    People really will fight anywhere! Ok. Lemme grab the mic. *Click boom boom* Ok! Here we go!

    Possibly using the environment to her advantage, the Gym Leader hopeful Cynder releases her towering sea serpent over the Thames. Mani bellows as it flies round starting a few motorists and causes a slight delay in traffic. Quickly, to get the show on the road, Rossy releases Elfie, a shining Espeon. That forked tail fox wasted no time in Staying calm while traffic was at a lull.

    Mani continued to roar and curl and twist in the air-obviously showing off his strengths.

    Ma: -3E Atk/Spd ~~~ El: -3E +SpA/D

    Feeling boosted enough, Mani looks at the shining Espeon along the bank now and beings to airstrut, laughing since Espeon's can't fly. Elfie furrows its brow, a little annoyed that punk serpent won't come over, but also confused as to why in the hell it;s flying around like that. EVERYONE knows Espeon's can't fly, so why make a show of it? She made sure to smack some sense to him with a Psychic front that pushed the serpent back.

    But now that she thought about it more, it really began to drive her nuts.

    Ma: -3E/-12H ~~~ El: -7E +2Atk/Cfn

    Mani grunted from the blast, and flew down for the little miser, ready to show her what for. Being comparable in speed for the moment, Main manage to fly over the confused Eeveeloution with no problem and began beating into the ground with his tail. Each hit gave Elfie an additional moment of confusion and clarity in tandem. But shew inevitably fell to the rage, unable to move.

    Ma: -7E ~~~ El: @_@ -12H

    Eifie, don't be mad that you can't fly. Gyarados sure as hell can't! Bounce, yes, but not fly.

    Also this is what I get for not using Magic Bounce...

    Okay, Reflect, Psychic, Psychic. If you didn't set up Reflect due to confusion, keep trying, then start firing off Psychic.

    ===Round 2===

    Elfie watches as Mani floats over toward the street where he's currently trying to regain focusing. The larger Pokemon takes the initiative, and fires off a blast of energy that rocks Elfie pretty good. He flies into the street, and narrowly avoids a speeding VW. It's not quite enough to break the confusion hold, but it leave Elfie with something to think about.

    Ma: -7E ~~~ El: @_2 -12H

    Elfie stands up and dashes back to the thin sidewalk, ready to battle. In one swift blink, a barrier was erected. Just in time too, as Mani was all ready to make a pancake out of Elfie. Poor Elfie. Getting smashed by that serpentine tail backed by that dirty river.

    Ma: -8E ~~~ El: -4E/-11H Rfl: 6 act

    Shaking her head, Elfie was tired of the free strikes. Her first real attack was a doosy, a powerful pantheon of psychic waves that caused Mani alot of visible discomfort. Mani replied with a shiver, and then a surge of energy that could only be described as a a brutal show of force. Even with that shielding up, it was a tough hit for Elfie to stand.

    Too bad it missed. Elfie watched Mani streak right by and into a Wonder Bread truck! OW!

    ===Round 3===

    Suddenly covered by a plethora of benefits, Elfie thundered toward Mani. The shimmering Espeon made it across the street and barreled into the downed serpent, adding insult to injury. In retaliation that massive tail swung forth, adorned with a colorful mist of seagreen and lavender. The strike flung Elf backwards, but the Espeon held her ground.

    A strange hue covered her body and then Mani felt sick all over. Oohh Synchronize, how we've missed you! (-1, -1)

    Ma: -10E/-10H Txc ~~~ El: -6E/-7H Txc

    Elfie ran left and right now, avoiding some cars as she moved back in to stop Mani. Mani began to float upwards again, thinking it could get some leverage from this souped up Eevee. Not true, as a rain of Psychic turmoil entered its brain. Mani bellowed and swung its body violently, thrashing the air all around. That tail managed to slam into Elfie again, knocking it down into the sidewalk. (-1, -1)

    Ma: -5E/-12H ~~~ El: -7E/-12H

    Mani ceased its tantrum, only to feel its body go rigid with a mental force. The twisting forces contort Mani, and the beast can only bellow its rage at the increased pain. (-1,-1)

    Doesn't matter which ability I had, to be honest.

    Since Psychic did 12 damage last time, do it again. Preferably harder, but keep going for it nonetheless.

    London traffic is quite a hodgepodge. I say this because cars suddenly zip by without warning, almost pegging Elfie as she maneuvers into position. Mani whips around back and forth, but that Outrage goes nowhere as the air clenches its icy grip around his body.(-2). The barrier shows great signs of weakening as Elfie keeps up the Psychic hold.

    Ma: -12H ~~~ El: -7E

    Mani slams headfirst into the street, giving cause for Elfie to make a swift retreat. She barely makes it to a sidewalk-and she hacks a bit.

    ===End Stats===

    Cynder release...and now I have to ask

    How does switching to different areas work?

    Basically we just move straight onto the next arena with two new Pokemon! This means I'll send out one Pokemon, Rossy sends out his 2 then I'll send out my last and attack.

    On that note, I'll use Arawn the Giratina in Origin forme with Levitate.

    Seishin: Calm Mind ~ Hidden Power(@Boom BOOM) ~ Calm Mind
    If Taunted, change Calm Mind into Hidden Power if it's super effective against either of them, otherwise hit Boom BOOM with Charge Beam.

    Arawn: Earthquake ~ Aura Sphere(@Koffin') ~ Earth Power(@Koffin')

    Okay, Koffin', Toxic that great wall of a Giratina, then Night Slash it, then hit Seishin with a Punishment. Hope it likes all those boosts!
    Boom, go for a Thunderbolt on Seishin, then blast Arawn with an Icy Wind, slow it down. Finish with Psych Up on Seishin. Hope you like all those boosts!

    ===Battlers===

    ===Round 5===

    This battle now moves on to level 2! Raising the stakes I see, Cyn! With not even a blink, she releases Arawn, a Giratina for all to marvel at. Hopping on, she also releases Seishin to accompany her as they fly up to the second stage. Rossy, can't help but feel a bit left behind, he really didn't choose and fliers. Koffin' and Boom Boom pat him on the back, before they all head to the elevator

    *Cue elevator music*

    After that elevator horror, Rossy runs out onto..a marvelous setting. Airships fly high above their heads, and for as far as Rossy can see, there are massive purple and yellow Lotus blossoms upon which to stand. Flying in the immediate area is Cynder, ready to duel. Cynder jumps off Arawn, as it bellows and flies toward Boom Boom.

    Rossy bails for cover as Koffin begins to release a massive stench, that Boom Boom immediately runs away from. It does nothing for the both of them as an Earthquake shakes them both. Seishin stays a bit away and calmly assesses the situation. Boom regains its balance, and fires off a clap of Thunder-that sizzles Seishin! The funky bat grunts, already feeling less weak than usual.

    In a last ditch effort, Koffin does manage to modify its smell so when Arawn flew over, it got a horrid whiff. So mad in fact, it made the dragon sick! (-1)

    A: -10E Txc ~~~ B: -8E/-9H
    S: -3E/-12H +2SpA/D ~~~ K: -5E/-15H

    Don't think Arawn likes being poisoned while trying to dominate. It shows its anger over the situation by releasing a Aura Sphere right for the poisonous fiend. Boom tries to counteract that ball with a hefty blast of chilling wind. But Arawn seems to ignore its force, as it flies right through it. Seishin conjures up its mystical force of nature, and releases it to strike Boom. The spheres leave a scorch mark not unlike one would get from hot coals.

    Koffin' is struck by the blast and rebounds from its recoil in order to elevate high enough to deliver a stinkin' Slash that forces Arawn to lower itself in flight. The belly of the beast lands, and Arawn slits its eyes. Obviously, he's ticked off. (-1)

    A: -9E/-22H -Spd ~~~ B: -5E/-6H
    S: -4E HP: Fi ~~~ K: -8E/-11H

    Chilled, Arawn takes a moment to assess its surroundings. In that moment, Seishi flies in a bit closer, Calming itself a bit more. With the zen like state of Seishin fueling his rage, Koffin' bounds over and double fistslams Seishin to the ground repeatedly-as Punishment for being so lassiez-faire about the battle. That...looks domestic disputeish...

    Boom smirks and looks at the battered Woobat, before achieving that which took Seshin two actions to complete! (-1). And during all of this, no one even looked at the BIG GIANT DRAGON on the Lotus that now uninhibited, slammed Koffin' away from Seishin and left him on the edge of the Lotus flower.

    Try bulbapedia, or the gts image gallery. And pokecheck but they're animated. Also, 18hp from an aura sphere seems a bit much, especially when punishment, super effective, only does 16 with eight boosts, so it should be at 200 base power, as well as stab and striking the physical side.
    Earthquake seems fine, but maybe 12 for a 75 base power move (which is what earthquake is in doubles) could possibly be a bit excessive.

    YOU DARE QUESTION ME?

    :Looks it over, was just throwing numbers around this morning.::

    Recap:

    1) Lowered EQ damage across the board.
    2) Left Aura Sphere-since (if you follow the game calcs) its a 90 BP move, 9E, does 11-12 dmg usually, double for weakness is 18.
    3) Looked over Punishment in the movelist-saw my mistake in adding damage.
    4) Forgot Swoobat was Psychic/Flying for some reason. Did calc x 2 and now it's not looking so bad for Rossy lol.
    5) Fixed stupidsprite.

    Okay, Bero, that's some nice boosts you have there, but we have to be careful as going first is a horrifyingly crippling disadvantage.

    Bero: Ice Beam at both Gira and Woo, then chuck a Shadow Ball at Gira's face.

    Koffin': Punishment, Night Slash, Punishment, all at Woobat. If any opponent tries to dodge or avoid attacks, Pursuit 'em down.

    Alrighty then Arawn, let's turn this around. Start off with a Psych Up on Seishin (damn Rossy stealin' my strategy xD), then hit Koffin' with double Earth Powers. Seishin, we can get that damn Skuntank down this turn with a little luck. Hit it with a Super Fang to begin with, and then turn your attention to Boom Boom by hitting him with a Giga Drain. Finish up with a Protect if Koffin's down, otherwise help Arawn out with an Acrobatics.

    Just a hodgepodge of testing.

    ===Stipulations===

    Gym test run.
    Lvl 1: London-2 man
    Hazards: Cars (GI), less maneuverability, Rush Hour ever 7th round. (70>25%) Rossy: W

    Lvl 2: Lotus-4 man
    Benefits: Pool=5Hp, Berries=5E
    Hazards: Consumption of berry allows opponent no/minimal (Atk >70%) loss of energy if attacking/boosting

    Lvl 3: Zeppelin-6 man
    Hazards: Missile fire=8-10Hp
    Banned moves: Weather alterations except Sun, Hurricane, Whirlwind, Blizzard, Thunder, etc

    ===Battlers===

    ===Round 6===

    The fight atop the lotus blossoms continues! Arawn bellows and begins to sync with Seishin. The stumply Woobat flaps hastily toward Koffin, who is still reeling from the effects of last round. Before Seishin reaches Koffin however, Boom Boom blasts by him and goes for the dragon. The link incomplete, Arawn takes the full brunt of that Ice Beam. (-2)

    Koffin takes the lapse in Seishin's concentration and pins the flier to the ground with a show of force. Seishin groans, but stretches over to its left and bites down HARD on Koffin's toe. Those buck teeth look hella painful! Koffin hops back; limping almost immediately!

    Meanwhile, Arawn finishes its link up, despite the chill in its bones.

    S: -8E/-32H ~~~ K: -5E/-12H

    Seeing its compatriot on the verge of defeat Arawn quits playing it cool and rallies. The ground churned as it flew toward Koffin, releasing itself in a massive sphere of energy that blasted the Skuntank clear across to another lotus petal.(-2)

    As Arawn watched Koffin to see if it would dare try to re-enter the battle, Boom Boom took advantage of Seishin's weakened state, and fired off an Ice Beam. Being of equal prowess now, Seishin just felt as if it was normal damage. Normal...chilling..wing numbing damage. Looking, Koffin scoffed as the flier seemed to dip down and land.

    Seishin did land, but not to give up. No. The cunning Woobat spied Koffin far away and made a play from there. Turning to Boom, a siphon was created, in order to mitigate some of that icy chill. Boom was not appreciative of it at all, and Koffin bounced across the gap, to Arawn's surprise. Arawn gave chase, but Koffin was one step quicker. Not only did the Giga Drain get severed, but so did Seishin's grip on reality from that powerful slash. The Woobat spiralled down, plopping near a pool of water.

    A: -5E ~~~ B: -5E/-10H
    S: -4E/-34H/+5H ~~~ K: -6E/-24H

    With Seishin down, it seemed to be a pretty decided match. Arawn chose wisely and fired off its second Earth Power at the poison type. Boom smirked, and threw a Shadowball full force to Arawn. Those boosts helped to mitigate the Super effective damage(-2).

    Koffin' though, seemed to have drawn the short end of the stick. After that second souped up blast, it couldn't stand anymore. Down it fell, leaving the phantom dragon against the chubby Normal.

    A: -5E/-16H ~~~ B: -7E
    K: -5E/-24H

    Alright, start off by using Shadow force to hide for a little while. Wait a round, then reappear and combine it with Aura Sphere to give it a Fighting typing and a final explosion.

    Shadow Force (hide) ~ wait ~ Shadow Force (reappear) + Aura Sphere

    ===Round 7===

    Now, here's a predicament. Arawn knows that beast can chill it to the core. So, instead of staying and coaxing it to fire, the mythical plane hopper vanishes from contemporary view. Boom is a bit disturbed at the speed with which it vanished, but it had work to do. Bending up a small section of the massive petal it was battling on, Boom manages a origami Licki. (-3)

    A: -6E ~~~ B: -8E/-6H Sub: 6

    Arawn, as all evil-doers, reappears high above Boom boom as it waits for the reappearance. In a surge of power, Arawn speeds down and barrels into the Substitute, shattering it with a force of fighting energy only..as it manged to go through the Substitute...(-3)

    Boom jumped back, startled by the aerial smash. But, he regained his bearings and began to cause a Sandstorm from the pollen in the air and the remains of the Substitute. It was weaker than he would have liked, but it should do the job.

    A: -14E ~~~ B: -6E
    SS: 3 act.

    Slowly phasing back up through the lotus, Arawn bellows at that trickery. That bellow didn't last long, as Boom flung his left hand and slammed an death dealing blast of cold to the astral projection. The beast bellows once more, before falling to the ground in a heap (-3)

    A: -16H ~~~ B: -10E

    The sandstorm strikes them both (-3), and Boom looks to see Arawn still wriggling its wings. Damn. So close.

    Knowing there is very little time, Arawn surges to return to the world of the immaterial. In a flash, the damned dragon vanished. Nervous, Boom looked around frantically, unsure where it was going to strike from.(-4,-1)

    A: -6E ~~~ B: o.O

    Boom looked up, but no. No dragon, Left, right, up and down, Boom spun around repeatedly. No no dragon anywhere. So in a fit of fear, Boom just threw a bubble around itself. Good plan. In a flash, a damaging draconic cyclone erupted from the west, and surged through and around the Protect. Boom shrieked in fear as Arawn's eyes seemed to be everywhere, as well as its feelers, which lashed all over Boom's body.

    But, it was not to last. An ancient roar streamed through the air, and then came to an end, as Awarn fell. (-4)

    Cyn, Now does Rossy win since he won two out of the three rounds? Or does he need to complete the third stage as well. Just working through your Gym to note any weird kinks.

    You release, then Rossy..and so on and so forth if so.

    Rossyyyyy you're making me look bad :U But yeah, the next battle still takes place because scoring still works as 6vs6, so right now Rossy's 3 up. Besides, I'd rather like to test the rest of the gym

    And since it would take forever to send out Pokemon one by one, maybe we should PM choices to you? If Rossy objects, that's fine and we'll do it the normal way.

    Yeah, I'm fine for PMing. And I can assure you my flawless victories so far are a fluke. Usually DL screws me over in some way or another. This is one of the rare moments when I'm actually a competent battler.

    When DL reveals the Pokemon used, I'll issue attacks. Time to participate in my first ever ASB Triple Battle!
