You approach the massive wooden door and ready yourself for whatever is on the other side by ordering Buneary to use Foresight, but before she can complete the move she feels a sharp block to her conciousness. "It's no good." she says decisively. "there's something stopping me using Foresight in there." In the end you decide to go in blind.

There isn't any fanfare when you open the door, it just swings open eerily quietly, the key breaking as it unlocks the door. You step into the room and the door slams hard behind you, narrowly missing Buneary who hops in at your heels. It's completely pitch black, and just as you're about to do something about that, you see a large blue circle surround you. It starts from behind where the walls are supposed to be and gradually illuminates around you, it completes itself at a point directly ahead. The blue expands forwards more into three pointed prongs that separate, and then converge together at a point before rushing upwards and illuminating what's really stood ahead. A steady rumbling growl eches through the cavern and it suddenly becomes very, very bright.

Hmm right. Well, as important as it is that we get above ground as soon as, I think waiting here a little for everyone t get back to full strength would be advisable. So we'll do that first. When everyone is 100%, we'll make our way towards the waterfall and the lake, it's obviously the only route we currently have available.

Buneary leaps forwards as quickly as she can and hits.... a shimmering protective barrier? Groudon, you silly god of the earth, you. Buneary waits for the barrier to fall, and an unusually agile Groudon leaps out of the way with an Agility attack. Realising Groudon's game, Buneary trips Groudon over with a Grass Knot, and what falls to the ground isn't what you thought you were fighting.



Zoroark growls and leaps to her feet, firing off a Night Daze at Buneary.

The note in your bag starts to shake and shoots out, a whole new verse transcribed below the last.

'Well done, congrats,
The solution to the riddle is in your clasp.
It won't be long until the map is yours,
But heed me well, for this ain't lore.
That Zoroark may well be tough,
Defeating her won't be enough.'

This wide expanse of icy land extends as far as the eyes can see. Rolling snow dunes and harsh hailing conditions make it an idea place for Ice Pokemon, and only the sturdiest of winter loving beasts.


As the Pokemon recouperate, you make your way to the back of the dimly illuminated cave. Droplets from the waterfall are cold on the skin of your face, and you can see through the roof that it is now night time. Looking down, all you see is an inky blackness that you presume is the lake Prospero saw.

Hmm, tricky. Prospero, use Future Sight to see if you gain any revelations of where we should go next. Whilst you're doing that, Mama, Papa and Pilo, if you could each shoot an Ice Shard into the roof or wall, when Prospero is done, he can use Flash and hopefully the ice will reflect the light around and we can see where we are a little better.

"To unlock the abilities of and even find the map, you must gain my approval and that of 5 other guardians, strategically placed around the zone. Be warned; many if not all of them don't know that they are guardians, so be sure to assist those in need as it may be useful at some point." She steps back lightly, rolling to the back of her heels. "If you wish to gain my approval, you must best me in a battle of wits. Do you accept my terms?"

Buneary's fur bristled and glowed ever so slightly as she rubbed her hands together quickly, creating small jolts of electricity that danced from paw to paw. With practiced precision and the pointing of a single paw the jolt shot across the room at Zoroark, but the static clung at shadows as the Zoroark sunk into the ground. All was still for a moment and Buneary took the moment to catch her breath, but just as Buneary was beginning to calm herself she was tackled to the ground by a well aimed shadowy punch.

Looking little more than jostled, Buneary delivered a swift uppercut to the Zoroark's jaw and she felt it crack just a little under her paw, delivering a rush of energy back to her. The canid's rage was released in a stream of hot flame that singed and licked at Buneary's fur, thus she rolled around on the ground to put herself out, leaving her a little singed but not really much worse for wear.

Having finally decided that she'd had enough, the rabbit pulled herself to her feet and yelled as loudly as she could, causing the entire room to shake in the process; even you have to cover your ears and you shudder to imagine how loud this is to a Pokemon with over 10 times your hearing capability. Zoroark seems to be made of strong stuff however and conjures three images, transforming herself in the process.



"HUMAN;" The Arceus roars impressively, looming over you.

"DECIDE WHICH ONE OF US IS REAL;" Giratina screeches, decisively more femininely.

Darkrai vanishes and reappears beside you, whispering in your ear. "Before it's too late..."

"YOU HAVE ONE CHANCE TO UNMASK US BEFORE WE ATTACK."

Buneary is quick to shoot off a single bolt of lightning that hits the closest Pokemon, Arceus, and causes it to fade into nothingness.

"Keheheh, wrong choice..." the Darkrai cackles, thrusting a Dark Void in your direction. Everything goes dark for a moment, and when it lights up again you notice that your surroundings are considerably different. You're in a massive temple-like room, with flights and flights of stairs bordering the edges parallel to where you stand; ahead is a large platform with rails around the sides.

You order Buneary to drain punch Zoroark, but there's no sign of her anywhere, nor of the legendary Pokemon.

((the dark void was a modified version of illusion, and Shock Wave only hits one target in a triple battle so since she was unable to tell which Pokemon was real it just hit the one closest to her, which was wrong unfortunately!))

Start with Foresight. If Zoroark's location becomes apparent to you, blast it with an Ice Beam and then a Thunderbolt.

If once again you find yourself unable to use Foresight, just start Hyper Voicing all over the place. Maybe that will reveal its location.

And if that doesn't work, let's just pick a staircase and start exploring.

Prospero channels his inner seer yet again to gain an insight as to where to go next, and comes to a surprisingly quick conclusion.

"There's a tunnel over there." He points to a spot just below the edge of the waterfall, previously obscured by a combination of spray and the darkness of the cave. To get a better view, with a little assistance from Prospero, two strong shards of ice are fired by the Mamoswine at the roof of the cave to create a makeshift light. Now illuminated by the ice light the tunnel is fully visible, but still fairly small and only just large enough for the family to fit through.

Buneary's foresight isn't required to find Zoroark, or her illusions at least; Giratina dives down from the balcony in its origin forme and bellows in your face as it fires off a Hyper Beam at the rabbit Pokemon. Buneary is thrown back a good few feet and retaliates with an Ice Beam at the immobile Pokemon, whose illusion fades and turns back into the Pokemon you recognise. Buneary also manages to hit it with a Thunderbolt before it vanishes once more, changing the scenery yet again.

Now you're in a floral field that looks a lot like Lostlorn Forest; there are Zoroarks all over the place and it's impossible to tell which is which. They all growl angrily at you.

You follow the subterranean tunnel as it slopes slowly upward, and it isn't long before you notice faint bluish light filtering through up ahead. You rush forward and feel it get distinctly cooler as you do, but your hope drains away as you see a thick layer of ice blocking your way above.

OK, lets get out of this cave once and for all. Everyone ready, this may take timing.

Prospero, hit that layer of ice with a Flame Thrower to melt a hole through it up to the surface. Mama and Papa, use Ice Beam when necessary to freeze the outer edges of the hole to stop it caving in and the water extinguishing the flames. Freezing it should keep it stable.

Once you've tunnelled through to the surface, Prospero you can use Water Pulse and Ice Beam together to create a ramp-come-stairwell up to the hole so we can all climb out.

Just as Buneary is about to try to discover which Zoroark is real, the shiny fox shouts across a Taunt which Buneary quickly retaliates against with an Ice beam, taking it out and causing the illusion to vanish. Now, like a mad rabbit on a rampage, Buneary shoots off another two Ice Beams and takes out two of the other Pokemon, but unfortunately they too are just illusions. One of the remaining Zoroarks leaps forward and hits Buneary with a powerful Night Slash, while the others remain still and charge their battling prowess, looking distinctly cruel as they do so. With a nasty glint in their eyes, the Zoroark return to stand in a row in front of you.

Carefully timing his Attack, Prospero works his way through the ice with a Flamethrower as Mamaswine carefully freezes the water back into place so that the chunks of melted ice don't fall on top of you. It takes a while, but eventually ice gives way and a path to the surface is revealed, and a quick flash of light creates a ladder-like path to the surface. You and Prosero climb the vertical ladder fairly easily, ignoring the cold of the ice as best you can, but there's a slight problem. Mamaswine is first to attempt to reach the surface, but her size and shape don't exactly allow her to climb it easily. "It's no good!" she shouts up. "There's no way we can climb this ladder."

The foxes start by firing off a Dark Pulse from the palm of their hands, which is intercepted by a strong beam of ice from Buneary, and whaddya know, it hits the real Zoroark! The rest of the clones vanish, and in anger Zoroark leaps forwards and swipes your buddy with a shadow claw, but Buneary knows better and grabs the fox's paw after contact and uses the momentum to slam her down hard on the ground. Growling loudly now, Zoroark goes to make another illusion but is distracted by a final beam of ice from Buneary, which luckily freezes her. Huh, the RNG's been nice to you this round!

As you pull out the potion to give to Buneary, the note you're still holding begins to heat up, so much so that with a short yelp you're forced to let go. It doesn't fall to the floor as you expect it would, but the writing on it erases and is replaced with another, more important looking riddle.

'Well done, alas, for in your hands
You hold the key to wishes grand
But without the proof of kind desires
The wish you seek will fade in fire

Of all the guardians, the closest first
He shall be far from the worst
Take heed and care for you may find
The past may not be left behind
In fact, wish seeker, he may be
Closer than you think.'

Zoroark uses a steady Flamethrower to release herself from the ice, and returns the room to normal. It is yet another cavern full of vines, but there is an exit at the end.
"Well done, trainer." she says calmly, strolling across to you. "You have my blessing. The parts of the map will eventually be revealed when you meet the guardians that have been chosen, the first of which I believe you've met. Good luck." Zoroark bounds off, disappearing into the bright light of day.

In four successive flashes of light, Prospero brings the rest of the gang up to the surface. Now that everyone's up you take a good look around, there's snow and ice for acres around and you can only just see the edge of a tree far to the west. "Now," Mamaswine says, relishing in the outside air. "Where exactly did you say the children were?"

You pick Buneary up and she settles herself comfortably on your shoulder, her soft fur brushing your ear as you walk out.

"Me, a guardian?" Buneary asks in wonder. "Um, I don't think I am! I mean, I might be, but I don't think so, uh..." She rubs the back of her neck self conciously, grabbing hold of your hair for balance as you step over some of the more twistled roots. "No, I don't think I am a guardian. The riddle mentioned something about the past not being left behind, maybe that has something to do with it? My life's been pretty uneventful, so there's nothing going to creep up on me any time soon."

It isn't long before you reach the surface once again, and Buneary relishes the feeling of the wind through her fur and hops off your shoulder, feeling slightly refreshed.

Buneary uses her hightened senses to track the locations of the others, and judging mainly by scent she comes to a quick conclusion. "I think that your Cresselia may be over the bank to the right!"

They were in the care of a Machop and a Bunneary. It's hard to tell how far away they are based on the distance we travelled underground, but I think between Prospero using Psychic and Future Sight, and you guys using Odor Sleuth we should be able to find them quickly.

The wispy winds that blow through these flowery fields elicit a relaxing feeling. The Pokemon that prosper here are all subdued and content with a laid back way of life. Pollen counts are high here, so allergy sufferers…beware.


You tread softly through the grass in the direction that Buneary indicated, shouting Moonscape's name every so often in the hopes of getting her attention. However, the bank is much higher than previously though, and stands at more than three times your own height.

Just as you're about to devise a plan, Moonscape appears over the bank and speeds towards you. She nuzzles you affectionately, before regaining her composure and asking a simple question. "Where have you been?!"

I fell in a big hole and now I'm on a mystical quest. :T I have to get the approval of some magical guardians in order to find the map to Jirachi. A Zoroark told me the next guardian is someone I've already met, so I'm wondering if it might be Togetic or Lickitung or Timburr or Richard. Any clue where they and/or Ditto D. Ditterson, Esquire and/or Brando went?

Ruskie Tundra
This wide expanse of icy land extends as far as the eyes can see. Rolling snow dunes and harsh hailing conditions make it an idea place for Ice Pokemon, and only the sturdiest of winter loving beasts.


The Pokemon use a quick cocktail of moves to decipher the location of the Swinub and come to a fast conclusion. "That way!" They say in unison, all pointing to the west. Upon closer examination you notice a small amount of smoke rising from the canopy; tell-tale signs of a small campfire.

"Sounds... Interesting." Your Cresselia says, tilting her head to one side. "As for the others, I am unsure. After you went missing the others went with Richard, who promised to try and find you. They could be anywhere by now; I tried to do a Psychic reading on their location but my efforts was blocked somehow, maybe by the presence of Brando? No, it couldn't be, it's never had any effect on me before..." She ponders for a little while, but doesn't come to any particular epiphany. "Anyway, I think they went to the east. I decided not to pursue because I still didn't enjoy the idea of travelling with Richard."
