Round Ninety-Four
Your confused look is enough of a hint to Mac to explain things in a little more detail.
"This little hamlet was set up for pokemon who wanted to live in the Safari Zone and raise a family without worrying about pokemon trainers coming by and snapping them up. Every now and then they let an old veteran like me into the village to live and train in peace and when needed, solitude. The pokemon share their food and homes with the veterans, and in return, the vets keep the village safe from rogue pokemon trainers and other wild pokemon. It's a god set up that worked for many years before I arrived here."
"So what went wrong?"
"Just on the edge of the village live a family of electric types. They're a bunch of kids really, they were abandoned by their parents because they were.. well putting it kindly they weren't your run of the mill pokemon. As kids without guardians do, they got into a lot of mischief. Petty things like sneaking into other peoples houses and taking things, moving things around, hiding stuff, you know. It was looking unlikely that anyone living here wanted them around, until an old Ampharos took pity on them and claimed guardianship of the gang. Under her guidance they grew up into pretty responsible 'mons. A few years ago the Amphraos died and it seemed like that really straightened the kids out. They found a new guardian not long after that, and we didn't hear much from them again. Recently, all the same kind of incidents have started up again, but there's been no evidence it was those kids. I mean they'd surely have evolved by now, but you can never be too sure. Starting a fire though, that's a new level of trouble making. It's a good thing I was out training today, or this could have been a lot messier."
"Is this..?"
"My house? Yes it is. It's ok, it's only a building after all. So long as my friends and neighbours are safe, then that's what matters. I may still be able to salvage a few things from inside."
Moonscape makes a quiet chirrup noise behind you. She's exhausted herself having strained her psychic powers searching the wide open skies for any sign of Brando and Ditterson. She shakes her head before immediately returning herself to her pokeball for some rest.

Round Twenty-Five
"Is there anything about this book that piques your interest, Haunter?"
Haunter looks at you, but says nothing and just shrugs the question off. You frown and turn back to the book. Running your finger down the page to check the details, you flick ahead to Chapter 5: Mythology of the Moon.
Mythology of the Moon
The Moon is the symbol of the night sky, more so than the stars; which despite their ever presence have never captured the minds and spirits of the ancient ones who would come to worship it. As the sun was revered during the day as a powerful god watching over all things, so too was the moon. As the sun represented power and strength, a fiery god that took equal to what it gave, the male persona was given to it. The Moon, a gentler being that governed the seas and gave light to the darkened world, it was given a female persona. As such the Lunar Goddess was considered a more approachable friend to all those who gave it respect and worshipped it.
You skim ahead a few pages, skipping past sketches of cave paintings and wood carvings
Though studies have proven inconclusive, many believe the pokemon Clefairy originated on the moon. Its affinity for areas of celestial convergence and objects and pokemon of similar appearance all suggest this to be the case. Studies of Clefairy in their natural environment (generally accepted to be dry cave systems with routes that lead to a surface beneath the clear skies) show its preference to stay apart from the more terrestrial cave pokemon such as Geogude or Paras, but will instinctively approach any of the more alien pokemon that may cross their paths such as Lunatone or Solrock.
Lots of images of the pokemon including some gross cross sections follow. I thought book as about the Moon not Gray's Anatomy.
The light cast by the moon is said to have many uses, some practical, others fantastical. Pokemon of the night who are observed bathing in the Moonlight are shown to have increased vigour and stamina suggesting that they are being healed by the glow. Other pokemon are shown to undergo changes to their physical structure, suggesting that prolonged exposure to the Moonlight may one day induce evolution. This is most noticeable in the pokemon known colloquially as 'Eon'. Other pokemon show a similar transformation when exposed to objects or gemstones that have absorbed the light and subtle radiation of the moonlight. Nidoran species have shown greater leadership or maternal skills when in possession of what are widely becoming known as 'Moon Stones'.
More practical uses of the Moonlight have included development of early forms of pigment. This is further explained in Chapter 7: Developing a Photo. Moonlight has been noted to act as a more powerful energy source, especially when focused or concentrated. Moulds and fungus when exposed to the high levels of light have shown increased yet simultaneous growth and decay, suggesting a vast microscopic chain of events is occuring. Many Lunar worshipers believe this is exactly how life began on the planet, with the Sun god shaping the world, and the Moon Goddess breathing life into it.
The chapter goes on for many more pages, detailing hundreds of different cultures and their thoughts on the moon. Maybe it's time for a different chapter?

Round Seventy-Six
"I do not know this 'Casper' you speak of, but if he is anything like the ghosts that woman was in command of, then he is far from friendly."
You close your eyes and sigh at Cobalions utter lack of pop culture knowledge, but carry on regardless. You motion to Darwin to return the sword. She frowns a little, clearly enjoying the shiny new horns and silver tail, but eventually she offers the sword back to Cobalion. The Legendary sword master reaches out to take the sword, only for his ghostly body to pass right through it. He pauses and tries again. Still, the ghostly form is unable to touch the sword, let alone regain the powers of the blade.
"I feared this would happen," the iron strong pokemon whispered.
"Are you kidding me? After that speech, you knew this might happen?"
"Allow me to explain. Every pokemon, perhaps event every human is made of three.. 'parts'. The Body, the Spirit and the Soul. The body is the physical presence the pokemon has in this world. The spirit is the life of the pokemon, it is what thinks and acts. Its personality, memories, passions, fears and mind. The Soul is the essence of the pokemons ability. The soul contains all that a pokemon is and can be. In short, the soul is the pokemon's type, ability and attacks. All three combined create a living being. When a pokemon dies, it spirit passes on to a new realm, its body is comitted to the earth or sea, and its soul is scattered across the world to be reshaped into a new life. Do you understand so far?
"I came to the Badlands after hearing that the pokemon hear were being mistreated and forced into slavery by a human. It was a trick to lure me here. I was ambushed and set upon by three ghost pokemon. Normally, they would have posed to threat to me, but they were different somehow. Stronger. Vicious. Like they were possessed by something stronger than I have ever encountered. They bit my body, ripped at my soul, tore out my soul. I was reduced to a mass of shadow, as my spirit searched for my body, any living thing it encountered was a potential host, but there was too much of me still here to willingly take another life to use their body. My body was gone, my soul.. I could not know."
"So.. the shadow the pokemon were talking about on the borders. That was you."
"It was not until recently that I felt a power drawing me in. It pulled me here to this spot where the light and energy coming from the Nether Realm was able to give me the strength to manifest again. That's when I saw the sword. When a soul is released from the body and spirit many things can happen to it. A less powerful soul will simply become one with nature and be reborn again. But a more powerful soul can not break up as easily. It will manifest as something that best represents its grandeur. The sword wielded by Darwin is a Soul Sword. Within it is all my power. Yet as a spirit, I am unable to touch the sword. My body must be located in order for all three to be reunited.
"If you are pure hearted as my brother claims, Darkest Light, then I would ask this of you. Help me regain my body, and reclaim my soul. If this is within your own powers, then I will offer you my services as my brother has offered you his."
- You know what, I think I'm going to go catch that Diglett I saw outside instead.

Unable to think of any other way to make a light, you hope that you will be able to rely on the sound of the melody to guide you to it. You step further into the dark dense forest. Branches that you can't see rake across your face, and roots trip you up constantly. The melody is faint, but the further in you move the more focused it starts to become. After a minute or two you find yourself in a small circular clearing. There's not much to see, but there appears to be two paths made from partings in the trees. One is to your left, one is to your right. You listen for the melody but you can't tell which way it's coming from. What you do notice however, is that you can clearly make out the notes. It sounds vaguely familiar.

Round Seventy-Seven
"The Maos Temple is an ancient and sacred temple, built by wise pokemon thousands of years ago. On this site, the walls of reality are weak, and different realms can bleed into this one. The past, the future, an earth where pokemon do not exist, one where humans do not exist. For every cause, there is a world that exists for the effect. There is also the land of the dead, where the spirits of dead pokemon go to find eternal peace, and the Nether Realm, where demons and monsters go where they suffer an eternal torment. There are many sites in the world where temples like this have been built to guard the tears in reality. Before Nevshard was destroyed by war, the pokemon came here to be at peace with themselves and in touch with their Spirit before they passed on naturally.
"This is why my spirit was drawn to this temple. I believe my Body has been taken to a temple of similar structure and purpose, but one that deals with the physical form of death. I do not believe it has been buried, but I wager that it is underground. I believe she meant to sacrifice my spirit in exchange for another. The demon was just close to the barrier and crept through in the confusion, whatever did come through was paid for with the demon's defeat. I suppose.. had you not been here to defeat it, I would no longer be here either."

Round Twenty-Six
You lift a chunk of book and turn until you reach the chapter you are looking for. Chapter 7.
Developing a Photo
The art of taking a photo using Moonlight has proven popular in many circles due to the way developing a photo works. As taking the photo requires the light of the moon to create the pigment, so too does it require the opposing force of light to develop it. The phases of the moon change over the course of thirty days, so it takes approximately this from the point a photo is taken until it can be developed. As a result, a photo can be taken and so long as it is not exposed to the opposing phase of the moon, it will remain black and undeveloped indefinitely, and there will be no other way to develop it. Should a photo need to be developed by someone who was not present at it being taken, the photo is often marked with a symbol, representing the phase of the moon needed to develop it.
You see an image representing the phases of the moon.
Once it is known what phase of the moon is required to develop a photo, it is a simple task of exposing the photo to a direct beam of moonlight in order to reveal the original image. This can best be achieved on a cloudy night when the moon is partially covered. As the clouds break over the moon and it is exposed, the otherwise dark night is partially lit by the moonlight, and the photo receives a full burst. Should the night be clear or completely obstructed, then intervention is required. Should none of this be possible, the photo will of course last until the next phase of the moon in a months time.
The many pages left in the chapter go on to detail the various means of development, changing the weather, focusing the light through a spectrum to create colour and more things you have little interest in.
"This book looks like it's full of a lot of rubbish. Two thousand pages of rubbish is a long read." Haunter says, before floating off to rejoin Litwick.

Round Ninety-Five
You an Buneary follow Mac into the ruins of his house. There is barely anything remaining that even looks like it was something, let alone looking like it can be recovered. Still, Mac seems to recognise what things were, either from where the ashes of molten remains lie, or from the shape and colour of the debris. He holds up a almost solidified tangle of melted silver and what looks like a kind of crystal.
"I wont this trophy after competing in the European Championships. It's worthless now, but my memories of that time are still intact. That's what's important."
He tosses the remains of the trophy aside and continues to look around. Scooping a pile of red and green flakes into his hand he holds them up above his head.
"This used to be a ribbon that was given to me for showing how well I cared for my pokemon, and how much they cared for me." He opens his hands and the flakes fall, caught by the wind they are blown away "I still have my friends by my side, and they are safe and well. I don't need a ribbon to know that. You see? Whilst all of this was mine, and it was given to me for a reason, the reasons are still with me in my mind and heart. I don't need trinkets to give me the strength and will to continue."
You wander around the charred remains of the house looking for a hint as to what might have caused the fire in the first place. There aren't any footprints in the grass, nor a sign of anything that was used as a fuel to start the blaze. Before you can investigate further, a Pidgeotto swoops down over the house.
"Mac, come quickly! Zukon has been hurt!" the bird flies off as quickly as it came.
"Gerin, Matoh go to your brothers aid, I will catch up." Mac shouts to his pokemon. The Charmeleon and Wartortle nod in unison and bound away, following in the wake of the Pigeotto. "Zukon is my Ivysaur, he was out watching the glades whilst the fire started. Will you accompany me?"

Round Ninety-Six
Hot on the heels of Mac (who is spry for an old guy) you follow him through the village. As you go, you notice that there are no other homes like you'd find a human living in, but lots of human-esque homes for pokemon. Little hobbit hills with thick wooden doors for pokemon like Ratatta, or trees with nesting like tree-houses for Pidgeys. A small pool has what looks like a chimney poking out the top and a steady stream of bubbles riding from it. If it wasn't for the fire, this would seem like an idyllic place to live.
As you reach the edge of the pond you notice several rows of tall plants. Hanging from some of these plants are lush ripe berries of different shapes and sizes. In the middle of the grove lies an Ivysaur, collapsed onto his side and showing signs of having been attacked. Tiny patches on its body and bulb are blackened and a faint whiff of smoke is rising from each mark. On the grass around him are a few broken remains of berries that have been dropped and stepped in. There are a dozen or so tiny juicy footprints leading away from the site and into the distant tall grass.
Mac is already on the ground tending to the Ivysaur, rubbing some kind of salty smelling salve into the black marks on the grass type.
"Zukon what happened?" he asks
"They came out of the grass and hit me by surprise. I was paralysed before I could get a warning off." the Ivysaur says through struggled breaths,
"Mac they took all the supply of Pecha Berries we had." he whispers, but two other pokemon nearby hear it and start to shout out.
"The Pecha Berries are gone? But the Beedrill swarms will pass over in the next month!"
"There's no way we can grow enough Poison Cure berries in that time!"
"What are we going to do?"
"Calm down." Mac says, looking up at them "We'll work something out. First we should track down the rogues and see if we can recover the berries they took. Mac glances at you as he speaks. "But Zukon is still hurt, I can't leave him."

A: Cobalion. You are still a phantom. As such, you should be able to dissipate and reform above ground, and find any Pokemon that can help dig us out. I'm sure a family of Digletts could get that rubble out from the front of the door. Or our buddies, the Lunatone and Solrock.

Finally he gets a grip on himself and literally steps up out of the ground and back onto solid floor. Now those same pokemon are working together, albeit at a more relaxed and friendly rate, the fill the pit back in and close the chamber up.

Warwick Meadows
The wispy winds that blow through these flowery fields elicit a relaxing feeling. The Pokemon that prosper here are all subdued
and content with a laid back way of life. Pollen counts are high here, so allergy sufferers…beware.
Round Ninety-Eight
Entering the tall grass you find it's already up to your knees and looking like it's going to get deeper. You call out Moonscape, who is looking considerably better than she did earlier, having had time to rest. You ask for both hers and Buneary's help. Moonscape creates a pair of bright lights that clip against each other creating the sound of hands clapping, whilst Buneary stares off into the distance.
"Oh!" she chirps and her focused staring vanishes "I see footprints! Like the ones in the berry juice next to Zukon! They lead off through the grass, follow me."
As you begin to trek after them, you ask Moonscape to look to the future and see if there are any clues as to what to expect. Moonscape links with your mind for a moment so that you too see the vision.
The tall grass parts to a series of holes in the ground. Tunnels of mud and dirt. A Raichu surrounded by dozens of Venonats. A Pichu encased in ice. Mac with a sad face. As the vision fades out, Mac's face changes into Richards and then only black
"Cryptic as ever. OK, lets keep going, Buneary lead the way."
- Onwards!

Grave's Yard
A frightening place where all the worst stories originate.
Home to Ghost and Dark type pokémon, you may find a rare Psychic type, but only the bravest dare tread here.
Round Fourty-Four
This time you decide to take the path on the right. You pass through a particularly dark patch where you can't see anything and come out into another clearing. Sat in the middle of the clearing is a distraught looking Chimchar. Curious George jumps with delight and runs up to hug you. She doesn't want to let you go, perhaps sending your only pokemon off without you isn't a good idea any more.
You look around the new clearing. There is a path to the left, and the remains of a path in front of you. But it looks like it's been blocked up by loads of loose twigs. This leaves you only one path to take. Or turn back?

Round Twenty-Nine
You rummage through your pockets for the old black polaroid. Turning it over you see that the forgetful Safari Zone ref has retconned the image on the back. A perfect circle with a thick line through it. In the corner is a hastily scrawled '1998'. You flip it back over and hold it under the moonlight. The black photo wavers slightly, and little patches of faded image appear, but nothing more.
"It's not bright enough." Haunter says, having appeared behind you. "The moonlight needs to be more focused."
- Find something to focus the moonlight
- Use the Polaroid as it is
Onwards, yes! Eyes peeled, guys!
