A picture of the arena:
It can be just located anywhere, it can be Greenland, it can be Finland, it can be Canada, it can be Alaska, it can be Russia, you name it. We are lost in the Arctic!
Theme:
Unlike most Finns around me seem to be, I'm a winter person. That's why this land fits me so well. I even like ploughing through blizzards. That's one of my hobbies, actually.
So I'd like to have a Pokemon battle that is as cool as possible. I'm challenging my favourite Pokemon ever, the mighty Legendary Articuno!
Blademaster, you can add rules and suggest things to change if something in this starter post isn't comfortable. Same goes for the ref, but not so much.
I'll use 5 Pokemon. One out at a time.
Blademaster uses Articuno.
Blademaster's Articuno gets Full Restore after each fainted Mikachu's Pokemon.
Abilities on.
DQ time: 20 days
Arena: The Courtyard of Arctic Fortress
Snow everywhere. Well there are some dead trees and windy mountains. Oh yes, and the fortress. How long has that enormous building been there? In the middle of nowhere, is standing a haunted fortress. It's a miracle that Mikachu, Blade and the Ref all three made it here and found each other. And not even a Nokia cell phone works. A good Pokedex works better. A picture of the arena may follow in a later post by Mikachu, as well as the theme music.
Is this OK?

I'm not sure why there's a mangled birthday streamer in the sky, but so be it.
I'll accept this arena; for your sake, we'll keep it in Finland. The sweeping peak of Kovddoskaisi would make a fine location for it.
So, what's the order?
Blademaster, Mangled Birthday Streamer is my interpretation of Northern Lights.
Kovddoskaisi... oh yes, that fjeld in Lapland. The hardest peak to reach in Finland. It nice that at least someone's PokeNavi is working!
How about if I send out first, you attack then.
I'll start off by sending out an unexpected Pokemon. It's my
Mesmeritse, Female Absol with Pressure Ability!
What's the standard Damage Cap by the way?
Usually damage caps are set at 40.
WHERE'S DA DAMN REF?!?
40 sounds just fine.
I hope a ref finds us soon.
EDIT: Is your Articuno's Ability Pressure or Snow Cloak?
Last edited by Mikachu Yukitatsu; 6th March 2013 at 10:45 PM.
Her Ability is Pressure. Snow Cloak wasn't an option when I caught her.
Will ref. Issue commands and I'll try to have something up within a few days.

Alright, let's start off slow.
Ice Beam, Aerial Ace, Ice Beam.
Mesmeritse, for starters, Flamethrower!
Safeguard yourself next!
End with Sucker Punch.

Good evening, friends and acquaintances and mortal enemies, and welcome to what I'm sure will be another wild and titillating ASB battle! Today, we find ourselves in the middle of the arctic (and of course I forgot my toque at home; omg fuck) where Mikachu and Blademaster will duke it out in the middle of a fortress courtyard-type thing. Lovely. Anyway, since I'm freezing my ass off and all, there's no point in drawing this out. Let's do this!
• POST-ROUND •
NOTES:
• At 0 EP, Pokemon will lose 1 HP for every 2 EP consumed
• Safeguard is not one of Absol's legal moves, so it failed
• TEAM MIKACHU YUKITATSU to command next

I misread something when I commanded Safeguard.
Mesmeritse, Shadow Ball!
Next Charge Beam.
Finnish with Thunderbolt lol.
May be hard, but just if you see Articuno Flying away, Protecting or Detecting at any point, Future Sight at the same turn. And if you get frozen at any point, Flamethrower right after that.
Mess its concentration up with a Signal Beam. Then bury it under an Avalanche. Finally, dodge that Thunderbolt and deal some damage with a U-Turn (I'm pretty sure that it still works when you only have one Pokemon to use, but not totally sure. Like maybe 85% sure.).

Oslo, it can't be my turn since I attacked first last round, can it?
*waves hand* You saw nothing.
Frost Breath, Signal Beam, Frost Breath.
Counter to ice with fire, Flamethrower!
Try to get her flinch with Rock Slide.
Another Rock Slide could do the trick.

Iron Tail, hopefully it's not too late!
Then, Stone Edge.
Finish with Giga Impact, provided that you're still up, of course.
Stay airborne where she can't reach you with her tail; from there bring her down with a Signal Beam.
If she survives that, use a combo of Agility to dodge that Stone Edge and Ice Beam to put her down.

My next Pokemon is Brooh, my Bronzor with Heavy Metal Ability \m/
A Bronzong... Joyous.
Blizza, conjure up a Hail storm. Then hit it with Signal Beam and Ominous Wind.
...Yes, her name is Blizza. Did I really go this long without mentioning that? That doesn't seem right.
No Blade, he's just a Bronzor.
Anyways, put Blizza asleep with Hypnosis!
To cover the damage from Hail, Dream Eater until she wakes up.
If she wakes up this round, change that to Rock Slide!

Blizza will prolly wake up soon, commence a Rollout and keep it up.
Bronzor, Bronzong, whatever. It's annoying, is what it is.
Blizza, Sleep Talk until you wake up. Once you wake up, start spamming Signal Beams.

Bump for Blade.
Alright alright I'm here.
Man, Signal Beam sucks at inflicting Confusion...
Blizza, hang in there! It's going to try a finishing Rollout: Dodge it with Agility. Get high in the air and then Roost. Once you're feeling better, try an Ominous Wind.
If dodging isn't an option, Protect yourself instead.
MOVE: Rollout, Agility, Ominous Wind
SUB: Protect, -----, ------------
Blade, you must mean "Agility, Roost, Ominous Wind".
As obvious, I order my Pokemon to keep Rollingout until the end of the turn. If stopped, start again.

Nicely dodged! I'm afraid my Pokemon must still keep up the Rollout.
But Brooh, if you find yourself stopped, it's time for Rock Slide!
Another Rock Slide if you have a turn.

Nah, I don't really like giving a mulligan on botched commands. These little mistakes are pretty common (Magic Coat vs. Mirror Coat, that sort of thing) and even if I can tell what the battler meant, minding the details is just part of battling IMO.
Roost, Signal Beam, Signal Beam.
Use Agility to dodge Rock attacks.
