Warwick Meadows
The wispy winds that blow through these flowery fields elicit a relaxing feeling. The Pokemon that prosper here are all subdued
and content with a laid back way of life. Pollen counts are high here, so allergy sufferers…beware.
Round One Hundred Six
Electric pokemon appear from every corner, jumping out of pits in the ground, passing through the tall grass and even falling from the sky. Bolts of lightning move from them towards the best conductor on the field, and Wartortle takes a beating. He manages to get off a few attacks, one lucky Ice Beam freezes a young Pichu solid but the child is quickly rescued and freed thanks to an Iron Tail from Pikachu.
Buneary skips towards Charmeleon, slapping him in the face with a surprise attack and then planting a sloppy wet kiss on his lips. The flinch combined with a kiss from his opponent addles his brain and the fire type trips and falls face first into the mud, then rolls onto his back and starts miming the backstroke much to Mac's annoyance.
"Moonscape, I choose you!"
Moonscape emerges from her pokeball having heard your commands telepathically. Mac is plucked from the ground and pulled into the air, where he dangles like a marionette puppet. Moonscape focuses harder, and Mac howls in pain as his mind is invaded by a foreign and much stronger force.
"No, stop it! Please! I yield!"
Moonscape holds him in place, but stops the psychic assault. By now, a few other pokemon have emerged form the long grass, having followed Mac from the village. They all gather behind him where he cannot see them.
"For a so called 'Veteran Trainer' your pokemon don't hold up well in battle 'Mac'." Raichu says, with a slight smirk on his face. The electric type turns to face you.
"When I came to Warwick Meadows I was looking for peace and tranquility. My previous trainer had been locked up for crimes he committed, and his pokemon were released into the zone. I came here wary of humans and was pleased to see so very few were allowed here. When Mac arrived he quickly gained everyone's trust with his deeds, but I was wary. I was looking after the rouge electric pokemon after their adoptive mother; an Ampharos; passed away from old age. I went to Mac to ask for his help when I overheard a conversation he was having with his pokemon."
"Overheard!" Mac spat, but stayed motionless in the air. Raichu continued.
"It went along the lines of him explaining to his pokemon that they had to continue the ruse of being veterans in order to stay here and reap all the praise and glory of helping out. He had trinkets and trophies that he'd found or.. borrowed I think is the term he used.. from people he knew or met in the past. He spotted me out the window and panicking I ran. Since then he has been trying to set me up for a fall. He's caused accidents and blamed it on these children, gone so far as to badly poison me and I suspect he even burned down his own house as an incentive to rally others against me."
"Lies! You can't prove any of it!" Mac spat again.
"No, but I can." a voice came from behind. Mac tries to look over his shoulder, but can't quite make it, so Moonscape rotates him in the air slightly. Sat on the ground amongst the villagers is his Ivysaur.
"I'm sorry Mac.. no the time for false identities has passed. Matt I don't want to go on like this. I like it here. It's a good life. I don't want to lie anymore. The Pichu didn't attack me. I let them take the berries. I've always let them."
"Zukon, how can you say this? After everything we've done together?" Mac/Matt asks, for a moment he actually sounds like he is speaking from his heart.
"It's not up to us anymore." Ivysaur replies "It's up to them now." he points at the villagers, who show a mixture of anger, hurt and astonishment.
Some of them are looking to you.
